Abstract

A series of novel imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine derivatives were synthesized and their structures were characterized by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The results of bioassays showed that some compounds exhibit good fungicidal activity against Puccinia polysora In particular, compound 7b showed an EC50 value of 4.00 mg/L, which was comparable with that of tebuconazole. Besides, preliminary structure-activity relationship was discussed.

Abstract

The title compound 3-chloro-N-(2-chloro-5-(1,3-dioxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-isoindol-2(3H)-yl)-4-fluorophenyl)-2,2-dimethylpropanamide was synthesized by the reaction of 2-(5-amino-4-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-isoindole-1,3-dione with 3-chloro-2,2-dimethylpropanoyl chloride. Its structure was determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The crystal belongs to triclinic, space group P-1 with the following crystallographic parameters: a = 9.595(3) A, b = 12.093(4) A, c = 18.433(6) A, α = 83.961(5)∘, β = 84.819(5)∘, γ = 67.920(5)∘, μ = 0.361 mm−1, V = 1967.9(10) A3, Z = 4, Dx = 1.395 mg/m3, F(000) = 856, T = 293(2) K, 1.11∘ ≤ θ ≤ 25.01∘. The X-ray results demonstrated that the reaction of 2-(5-amino-4-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-isoindole-1,3-dione with 3-chloro-2,2-dimethylpropanoyl chloride in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature yielded 3-chloro-N-(2-chloro-5-(1,3-dioxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-isoindol-2(3H)-yl)-4-fluorophenyl)-,2-dimethylpropanamide.

Abstract

A series of novel imidazo[4,5‐b]pyridine derivatives were designed and synthesized. The structures of all the newly synthesized compounds were identified by spectroscopic data NMR, MS, and elemental analysis. Bioassay showed that the compounds exhibited potent fungicidal activities against Erysiphe graminis, Puccinia polysora, and so forth. Particularly, 2‐chloro‐5‐((5‐methoxy‐2‐(2‐(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)‐3H‐imidazo[4,5‐b]pyridin‐3‐yl)methyl)thiazole (9b) displayed fungicidal potency against P. polysora. Its EC50 value: 4.00 mg/L is comparable with that of tebuconazole. The structure–activity relationship for the target compounds is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
