Abstract

Abstract: Fully crystallite Nd3+:Lu2O3 nanopowders were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal processing at 220°C directly without additives such as catalysts or templates. The as-prepared Nd:Lu2O3 phosphors satisfied fully crystalline and good luminescence properties without further calcination. It is found that pH value of the hydrothermal environment plays an important role in the controlling of morphology and luminescent properties of the obtained Nd:Lu2O3 nanocrystalline phosphors. As-prepared Nd:Lu2O3 phosphors under the conditions of pH 14, 220°C for 22h possess fully crystallized cubic phase and it exhibits octagonal morphology with the grain size range from 50nm to 200nm. The PL spectra demonstrate that the intensity of main emission peak is strongly dependent on crystallinity of Nd:Lu2O3 phosphors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
