This paper presents the novel method inductance calculation of a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM). Synchronous inductances (Ld and Lq) are exceedingly important factor of SynRM to drive. Because of self axis current as well as the other axis current, inductances of d-axis and q-axis of SynRM are varied. Using an equivalent circuit model for expressing d-axis and q-axis inductance variation, the authors elicit suitable equation considering iron loss and cross magnetic saturation. Parameters of motor to use calculation are gained by AC signal test. This paper presents design and analysis of high-power, high-speed solid rotor synchronous reluctance motors. Different rotor forms are optimized and a new configuration which combines holes and slots is proposed. The mean torque is maximized by a cyclic algorithm coupled with finite elements method to solve electromagnetic, displacement, and thermal equations. Test results on 20-kW, 20 000-r/min, and 3-kW, 3000-r/min designed machines are compared with simulations. Index Terms--High speed, optimization, solid rotor, synchronous reluctance machine.

This paper deals with optimum design criteria for maximum torque density and minimum torque ripple of synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) according to the rated wattage using response surface methodology (RSM). The RSM has been achieved to use the experimental design method in combination with finite element method and well adapted to make analytical model for a complex problem considering a lot of interaction of design variables. The proposed procedure allows to define the rotor optimum shape for maximum torque density and minimum torque ripple starting from an existing motor or a preliminary design. This paper examines a model of magnetomechanical and piezoelectric coupling. This model, based on the association of the magnetoelastic and piezoelectric constitutive laws, is implemented in a transient finite element formulation. The application is the reduction of the noise emitted by switched reluctance machines by means of an active damping. The active elements are piezoelectric actuators placed on the stator, for the purpose of reducing its vibrations. The control is based on a positive position feedback regulation. Thus, an infinite impulse response filter is added to the model in order to control the piezoelectric elements depending on information of the stator vibration. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied to the design optimization problem of axially laminated anisotropic (ALA) rotor synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) drive. The objective of the optimization is to maximize the developed torque while minimizing the torque ripple as well as the Ohmic and core losses for traction applications. The number of flux paths, stator tooth width, and rotor flux path width define the 3-D search space for the optimization problem. An artificial intelligence modeling approach utilizing PSO and finite element-state space (FE-SS) models is used for the characterization and design optimization of a prototype ALA rotor SynRM drive for traction applications. We have performed analysis and experimental measurement of the electromagnetic force loads on the hybrid rotor in a novel hybrid magnetic-bearing switched-reluctance motor (MBSRM). An MBSRM has the combined characteristics of a switched-reluctance motor and a magnetic bearing. The MBSRM discussed in this paper has an eight-pole stator and a six-pole hybrid rotor, which is composed of circular and scalloped lamination segments. The hybrid rotor is levitated with only one set of four stator poles, while a second set of four stator poles imparts torque to the scalloped portion of the rotor, which is driven in a traditional switched reluctance manner by a processor. We performed static torque and radial force analysis of rotor poles oriented to achieve maximum and minimum radial force loads on the rotor. The objective was to assess whether simple one-dimensional magnetic circuit analysis is sufficient for preliminary evaluation of this machine, which may exhibit strong three-dimensional electromagnetic field behavior. We employed two magnetic circuit geometries, approximating the complex topology of the magnetic fields in and around the hybrid rotor, in formulating the electromagnetic radial force equations. The experimental and the theoretical radial force load predictions agreed reasonably well with typical magnetic bearing derating factors applied to the predictions. The operation of the switched reluctance machine as an autonomous three-phase ac generator is considered. Two circuits are proposed. The generator circuit consists of only capacitors and load supplementary to the generator, but does not contain any power supply. Theoretical approaches for simulation of the three-phase autonomous switched reluctance generator are presented. The influence of the high harmonics in the phase current on the power output is discussed. Experimental and simulation results are presented. This paper investigates the losses that may occur in the windings of a switched reluctance machine due to additional eddy currents. Essentially, turns on the surface of the leading-edge coil side of the stator pole will experience a magnetic field during the conducting cycle in a similar manner to an airgap winding. A finite element model is developed that splits the coils into individual turns so that the losses in each turn can be calculated individually. Dynamic hysteretic effects of magnetic materials are usually neglected in actuators modeling. In order to take into account these effects, we coupled a two-dimensional finite-element (FE) model in an original way with a magnetic equivalent circuit by using dynamic hysteretic flux tubes (DHFT). As an example of an application, we present the model of an ultrafast switched reluctance motor, in which the control of the power converter is of major importance, and where iron losses can reach critical values. We describe a procedure for calculating the core loss in high-speed switched-reluctance machines. The technique calculates core losses within a switched-reluctance machine to a high degree of spatial resolution over a wide range of operating conditions. We confirmed the calculations experimentally, using a loss segregation method, and found good correlation. Index Terms--Core loss, high-speed machines, switched-reluctance machine.

This paper presents a reluctance network analysis (RNA) model of a switched reluctance motor considering iron loss. The proposed RNA model consists of a multiple number of nonlinear reluctances and magnetic inductances that express magnetic hysteresis. The validity of the proposed model is proved by comparing calculated values with measured ones. Furthermore, differences between symmetric and asymmetric excitation are investigated. This paper describes a consideration of the excitation circuit of a switched reluctance (SR) generator. The SR generator has some features including solid structure and easiness of maintenance. However, the conventional excitation circuit of the SR generator is an asymmetry half bridge converter (AHBC) whose configuration is complicated. In this paper, we examine the operating characteristics of the SR generator excited by a suppression resistor converter (SRC) based on finite-element method (FEM) analysis and experiments. This paper describes a study into the effects of rotor eccentricity on the torque in a four-phase 8/6 switched reluctance machine. Finite-element solutions are run with different degrees of rotor eccentricity and the current/flux linkage loops obtained for each phase. The work is then obtained for each phase and the change in torque studied. The simulation work is verified experimentally. Index Terms--Rotor eccentricity, switched reluctance motors, torque.

This paper looks briefly at aspects of iron loss assessment in switched reluctance machines (SRMs) and addresses issues that can arise when attempting to measure the flux linkage/current loops and the magnetizing curves experimentally.
