Objective We considered the effect of dysphagia rehabilitation and investigated parameters associated with the resumption of oral intake in the elderly patients receiving home nursing care who were not eating by mouth. Methods The participants were 116 patients aged ≥65 years (66 men and 50 women, mean age 79.7 ± 8.9 years) who were receiving home nursing care and not eating by mouth because of dysphagia. All patients underwent dysphagia rehabilitation for 6 months with the objective of resuming oral intake. After 6 months of dysphagia rehabilitation, the patients’ eating status was assessed using the Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS) and the associations of the post‐intervention FOIS score with age, history of pneumonia, duration of enteral nutrition, body mass index (BMI), alertness, physical function (ability to walk) and swallowing function at the initial examination. Disabled children suffer not only from their primary disease, but also from other complications, including food refusal. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the relationship between these conditions and food refusal in disabled children. The effectiveness of feeding therapy in treating food refusal was also examined. The study subjects were 67 disabled children (35 boys and 32 girls; mean age at initial examination: 6.5 years, SD: 6.0 years) who attended the Nippon Dental University Hospital between April 2004 and August 2008. Of them, the 13 subjects who were diagnosed as those who refused food received feeding therapy combined with desensitization therapy for hypersensitivity. Approximately 20% of the subjects showed food refusal symptoms. Primary disease, respiratory impairment and gastroesophageal reflux were not causes of food refusal in this population. There was a significant relationship between food refusal and hypersensitivity (p = 0.021). After receiving feeding therapy, six of the seven subjects with hypersensitivity but without dysphagia at initial examination recovered from food refusal. Food refusal did not significantly correlate with tube feeding. Hypersensitivity and/or tube feeding may induce food refusal. For subjects with these conditions, feeding therapy combined with desensitization therapy is effective in achieving recovery from food refusal.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the relation between the degree of tongue-coating and oral function. Background: Tongue-coating is a moss-like deposit which forms over the tongue surface, and includes micro-organisms, food residues, and abrasive epithelia. It is considered that motor function of the tongue and lips and saliva secretion decrease in the aged and have some effect on the accumulation of tongue-coating. Although saliva secretion has been reported as a factor amongst these oral functions in contributing to tongue-coating, the correlation with the motor function of oral structures is unknown. Subjects and methods: The factors that contribute to the accumulation of tongue-coating were examined in 48 subjects of advanced age (mean age 80.8 ± 7.8 years) with no severe levels of periodontal disease. Changes in the degree of tongue-coating were also examined after oral functional training in these subjects. The frequency of oral cleaning, status of oral hygiene, motor function of the tongue, and masticatory performance were examined as potential factors associated with the degree of coating. Results: The results showed that tongue pressure and the frequency of oral diadochokinesis measured by pronouncing the single syllable ‘ka’ as an indicator were statistically significantly correlated with the degree of tongue-coating. Several factors in oral function improved with training, and also the degree of tongue-coating decreased in 27 subjects. Conclusion: These results suggest a correlation between the degree of tongue-coating and a reduction in lingual motor function and, in addition, possible improvement in level of coating by functional training of the tongue.

Patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), who develop antiasparaginase antibodies without clinical allergic reactions ("silent inactivation") during L: -asparaginase (L: -Asp) treatment, have poor outcomes. Ammonia is produced by hydrolysis of asparagine by L: -Asp. We postulated that plasma ammonia level might reflect the biological activity of L: -Asp. Five children with ALL treated according to the Tokyo Children's Cancer Study Group (TCCSG) protocol were enrolled. Plasma ammonia levels were analyzed immediately and 1 h after incubation at room temperature and "ex vivo ammonia production" was defined as increase in ammonia concentration. Ex vivo ammonia production well correlated with L: -Asp activity (r = 0.882, P0.01, n = 23). It always exceeded 170 microg/dL (170-345 microg/dL) in induction therapy. We found 3 patients whose ammonia production was negligible during later phases of therapy. Antiasparaginase antibody was detected and L: -Asp activity decreased in these patients. Ex vivo ammonia production is a surrogate marker of L: -Asp biological activity.

Despite the diminishment of environmentally threatening development, recent social factors such as increasing local elderly population and shortage of successor of agricultural activities have instead accelerated the deterioration of secondary grassland landscapes. This research, focusing on the secondary grasslands in Aso Region, on the purpose to resolve the various problems caused by the recession of management activities that is difficult to solve by the existing national park planning, considers the criteria and evaluation method for the future landscape management of national parks. This research then proposes new evaluation methods based on the following factors : 1 various people's spatial perception pattern of the grasslands and 2 re-zoning of the grasslands according to the grassland type on the basis of macro landform, and examines the applicability to the landscape management of national parks.

介護保険制度創設のねらいとして「介護の社会化」が掲げられているが，重度要介護者の在宅介護においては，今なお，家族介護者の果たす役割は大きく，家族介護者の献身的な役割意識に支えられていると考える。今回私達は，在宅家族介護の実態と，介護負担感に関連するQuality of Life(QOL)要因を明らかにするため，当居宅支援事業所利用者の主介護者に対し，調査を行なった。これまで，介護負担感に関する研究は多くあるが，介護負担感に関連するQOL要因をQOLの領域別に分析した報告はなかった。調査項目は，主介護者の基本情報，要介護者の基本情報，WHO/QOL-26調査票，介護負担感調査票とした。調査の結果，介護期間6か月未満と5年以上の介護者が負担感を強く感じていた，また，要介護者の認知症が重度になると介護負担感が強くなる傾向であった。介護負担感に関連するQOL要因は，痛みや不快，睡眠と休養，活力と疲労感などの身体的QOL要因であることが明らかとなった。また，介護に関する新しい情報や技術の習得，住宅環境などの環境的QOL要因は，身体的QOLを高める関連要因であることが明らかになった。心理・社会的QOL要因は，介護負担感と有意な関連性がみられなかったが，これは，調査対象者の居住地域が，農村部を含む地方都市であり，主介護者に対する親族の支援が比較的得られていたこと，調査対象者の多くが高齢の女性であり，介護に対する役割意識・義務感とこれらに関連する地域の特性が心理・社会的QOL要因に影響したことによると推測する。以上の結果は，在宅家族介護者を支援するために有用な示唆であると考える。

In recent years, they have been doing activities in their communities to improve the environment for children. The purpose of this research is to make it clear whether they are having a good influence on bringing-up children. Actually I decided to focus on the traditional entertainment of "Sanyare Dance" in Shimogasa-cho, Kusatsu. The method of my researching consisted of giving questionnaires to people and interviewing them, from August, to December, 2002. The results are as follows. Through this activity in the community. (1) Children are eager to make good relations with people of all ages. (2) They became more interested in their community. (3) Parents tend to believe that taking part in "Sanyare Dance" is a good influence on their children. What they have to do to improve this activity from now or are to make it possible for girls to take part in their activity at every opportunity, and to make it easier for new comers to make contact with this activity. Joining an activity in the community is necessary from the point of Housing Education in accordance with the process of growing up. And I also think my research will be helpful for the purpose of improving the standard of living today's society. (Accepted September 9, 2003)

本研究は, 都市に隣接する過疎地における一戸建て住宅の団らん空間について考察することを目的とする。研究方法は, ヒアリング調査, アンケート調査によるものである。調査は京都府京北町において, 2000年7月, および10月に実施した。結果は次の通りである。(1)住まいの重視要件のうち「家族団らん」と「プライバシー」に関しては, 主婦と高校生の価値観に大差がみられた。(2)団らん空間の居心地と集まりやすさは相関関係にある。(3)団らん空間評価は, 居間と食事室が隣接している場合, 食事室と台所間に通路がある場合, 玄関から子供部屋へは居間を通らずにいける場合, などに主婦の評価が高い。(4)希望の団らん空間で世代間格差が顕著にみられたタイプは, プライバシー確保型である。若者世代の地域への定住をより可能にするためには, 一戸建て住宅に対する重視意識や団らん空間に求める意識の異世代間隔差をいかに縮小するかが今後の課題と言える。若者世代が自立し, かつ地域に定住していくためには, プライバシー確保型団らん空間の具体的検討が望まれる。

本稿では1970年代半ばから10数年間のうちに都市近郊に建てられたプレハブ住宅の損傷・修繕の実態と居住者意識から, 維持管理上の問題を明らかにし, プレハブ住宅の維持管理の方向性について考察した。維持管理上の問題としては(1)住宅の耐久性, 安全性などの構造面については満足しているが, それ以外の箇所の損傷についてはいずれも在来工法に比べて不満度が高い(2)住宅の断熱性が良い反面, 自然換気の少ない工法であるためか, 結露に対する不満度が比較的高い。(3)居住者による修理・改善を困難に思う意識が強く, 自主的管理意識は在来工法居住者に比べて低い, などが挙げられる。維持管理の方向性としては, 居住者に見合うような耐久性を保つため, 居住者自らのペースで修理, 改善を容易にできることが課題であり, 今後は個々の住宅としてだけでなく住宅地全体でも維持管理を実施する方策を検討することがのぞまれる。

子供(末子)が高校生以上である世帯, あるいは高齢の親と同居する世帯の場合, 主婦の個室所有が家族のコミュニケーションにどのように影響を与えるか, また主婦個室の理想像において, どの程度家族のコミュニケーションが意識されているか, について明らかにするためにアンケート調査を行ない考察した。その結果は以下の通りである。1)主婦が個室を所有する場合, 子供が学生である世帯よりも社会人である世帯において, 家族コミュニケーションは良好な状態にある。2)親が同居する世帯については, 主婦が個室を所有する場合は所有しない場合に比べて, 家族コミュニケーションに対する満足度は低いが, 主婦個室の存在が主婦の精神的安定をもたらしている割合は高い。3)自由記入欄の記述にみられる主婦個室の理想像において, 家族コミュニケーションを意識した図や文章例は, 個室を希望する主婦全体の3割程度である。

本報告は, 主婦の個室の実態および希望意識について, 京都市内およびその周辺地域に居住する世帯を対象に調査し, まとめたものである。その結果は次の通りである。(1)現状では調査対象者の5割強の主婦が個人的空間を持っており, その1/3強が個室所有層である。(2)個室非所有層のうち個室希望主婦は全体の6割弱を占め, 個室を希望しながら持っていない第一の理由は住居の狭さのためである。(3)個室希望理由のうち「家族から解放され1人になりたくなることがあるから」は「個室希望」主婦の約3/1を占め, 「読書」「趣味」に次いで多い。とくに強く思う理由(◎印)のなかでは「家族から解放され1人になりたくなることがあるから」は最多である。(4)個室希望が高い主婦層は, どちらかと言えば, 自ら社会参加し自分の世界を持ちたいと思っており, 一方では夫の家事分担を期待する意識タイプである。

近年, 生活様式の変容には著しいものがあるが, 日本住宅の畳に対する愛着は依然として強い。しかし, 畳のもつ独特の味わいを維持するための手入れ, つまり維持管理は, 必ずしも適切に行われていない。また必要性を感じながらも出来ない状況もある。本稿はその実態を明らかにして, 今後の維持管理のあり方を考えようとするものである。なお本稿は, 住生活に関わる知識を適切に伝え, 居住者の住生活への関心を深めるために, 家庭や地域, ひいては自治体として, いかに教育し, 啓発するか, という住教育研究の一環に位置づけるものである。

HPLC using a borate form of a strongly anion-exchange resin column and an immobilized enzyme reactor for colorimetric detection was used to quantify urinary 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol. Urine samples were introduced into the system every 7 min without any pretreatment, and after separation of interfering substances in the column, 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol was successively detected. Quantitative determination of urinary 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol was possible within the 1.2-300 micromol/l range. The coefficient of variance was less than 3% and the correlation between results obtained with our system (y) and those obtained by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (x) was y=0.983x-1.287 micromol/l (n=42, r=0.998).

コインシステムによる洗濯の共同化について, 実施されている所の実態, および以前実施されていたが, その後廃止された所の問題を明らかにして, そのあり方を考えようとした。その結果, 管理体制, 立地条件などが, 継続していく上で重要であること, コインシステムは, 若い層にとっては, 従来の洗濯を楽しみの一つに変える可能性のあること, 共働き家庭にも受け入れられやすい長所をもっていること, などが明らかになった。

The auther investigated on the relation between the plan of farmhouses and the houseworks hold in them by hearing 33 old persons who live in Tango district (Kyoto Prof.), in order to demonstrate how and why honsework has changed during the first decades of this century. The results obstained, are as follows : 1) The space for housework on the floor tended to move from "hiroma" to "nando", while the plan of silkworm-rearing farmhouses changed from the type of 3 rooms including "hiroma" to the type of 4 rooms. 2) Such a tendency is related with the consciousness of giving importance to a reception space and it, by putting the workspace in the backside of the house, decreased the significance of housework as a means of communication.

家事労働の方向性を探るための一資料として, 家事労働合理化の一形態である共同化について, その歴史的背景を考察することを目的とする。おもに関東大震災以後昭和戦前を対象時期とし, 東京などの都市生活にみられる共同化についてとりあげた。方法は, 建築学, 家政学分野の専門書・学術雑誌, 当時の婦人層を対象とする一般書・月刊誌などの分折を行った。本稿の柱立ては次の通りである。1.緒言 2.震災以前にみられる家事労働の共同化事例 3.共同住宅居住にともなう家事労働の共同化 4.戦時中の家事労働の共同化-炊事を中心として- 5.まとめ

市街地高層住宅における洗濯物干場の問題が, 居住者の日常生活に大きな影響を及ぼしていると思われるにもかかわらず, 居住者の立場からは, ほとんど検討されていない現状である。そこで, 公団賃貸の場合の洗濯物干場の現状, 及び, 洗濯物等の乾燥方法の今後の方向について, 調査研究を行なった。その結果, 共同設備である屋上の共同物干場は, 雨風など自然による被害, または, 人為的な被害をうける心配が常にあり, 「便利である」とは, ほとんど思われていない。日光や風などによる自然乾燥にかわる方法として, 大型乾燥機の共同利用による方法に対する意識をみると, 「利用したいと思う」と答えたのは, 30%足らずであった。しかし, その賛成者層についてみると, 学歴が高くなるにつれて, 又, 家族人数が減少するにつれて増加し, 勤めている婦人の占める割合が, 最も高いことがわかった。

本研究では，砧小学校と喜多見小学校における地域の公園づくりを課題とした小学校の地域学習プログラムの試行を通じて，小学校の立地する地域の大学・行政・専門アドバイザーの多様な主体が連携した地域学習教育の支援体制のあり方を考察することを目的としている。公園づくりでは地域認識，時代認識，そしてストーリー性が重要であることから，「地域認識」・「課題解決（自分で考え，みんなで合意形成）」・「成果発表」の3つのステップで授業を進めた。第1段階「地域認識」では，砧・喜多見地域の豊かな自然環境資源と往古からつながる歴史文化資源を学び，児童に地域の歴史文化，自然環境の認識・理解させるために，専門アドバイザーが指導した。第2段階「課題解決（自分で考え，みんなで合意形成）」では，公園づくりの課題をまず自分で考えたのち，他人と意見を説明し合い合意形成していく力を養うために，児童が主体的，協働的に学ぶグループワークとし，その進行とファシリテーター役を大学教員と大学生が担った。第3段階「成果発表」では，子ども達の自信と誇りにつなげるために，児童1人1人が主体的に自らの公園アイデアを発表し，地域への誇り，愛着を深めてもらうために世田谷区（街づくり課）が児童の個々のアイデアを公園アイデア集として冊子にし，児童個々に配布した。本研究のケーススタディを通じて地域学習では地域の行政・小学校・大学・専門アドバイザー等の多様な主体が関わり，その役割を明確にし，協働連携した教育体制が重要であると考えられた。, This study evaluates the effectiveness of a collaborative, student-led approach to park design, during the comprehensive learning period at Kinuta and Kitami elementary schools. We used a three-step design in the program : first, identify the region’s assets and character ; second, develop individual views and group consensus around desired outcomes ; and third, to encourage ownership of the park’s design by the students. The first step of the process is the recognition of the region’s character through the production of a playground map by the students, after learning about the area’s natural resources and heritage through play-oriented tasks from the regional supervisor. The second step aimed to develop students’ analytical skills by encouraging them to think individually about the park’s design, then to build consensus through discussion and negotiation with their peers with the role of facilitator by university teachers and also with students practicing the role of facilitator for the university teacher and students. Finally, the third step aimed to inspire students’ confidence and sense of ownership of their park design, to enhance future engagement with the region’s stewardship. This regional educational program involved local administrations, elementary schools, universities and consultant specialist advisers, whose collective roles and responsibilities need to be clarified to ensure effective collaboration within the wider educational system.

本研究では，東京農業大学農学分野の教員・技術員と幼稚園教諭とが連携し，野菜や果樹栽培の教育研究を活かした環境教育プログラムを試みた。本研究では，プログラムのねらいに応じて伊勢原農場内で教育素材を選定し，環境教育プログラムを実施した。環境教育プログラムでは，ステビア，レモングラス，コキアを五感で体験し植物の用途や効用を学ぶ環境教育プログラムを実施した。加えて，幼児が日常生活で親しんでいる野菜・果樹としてブトウ，ブルーベリー，ミニトマトの栽培技術や品種の違いを学ぶ環境教育プログラムを実施した。本プログラムの教育効果として，伊勢原農場の多様な果樹・野菜とその栽培技術は幼児たちに身近な野菜や果樹への発見，楽しさ，感動を与え，観察した物事を記録できる観察力や理解力の向上を確認できた。, In this research, faculty members and technical engineers from Tokyo University of Agriculture have conducted a trial environmental education program in cooperation with the teachers of the Seijo Kindergarten utilizing vegetable and fruit cultivation related educational research. Specifically, the objectives besides holding the actual educational event was to clarify the purpose of the educational program and to select the education materials for future use. As part of the environmental education program, children learned about the uses and effects of the plants Sevia, Lemongrass and Bassia Scoparia using their five senses. In addition, children were able to learn about the different cultivation methods and varieties of everyday vegetables and fruits that they encounter on a daily basis such as grapes, blueberries and cherry tomatoes. As a result of the program children were evidently able to improve their observation skills and comprehension skills by taking notes of their new discoveries, joys and impressions of everyday vegetables, while they learned about the wide varieties of vegetables and fruits of the Isehara Farmland and their cultivation methods. Meanwhile, as for the provision of the Isehara Farmland as a sustainable venue of environmental education, the establishment of an acceptance system and the securing of human resources remain as potential issues.
