The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has created emerging mental health challenges around the world. Like other countries, Pakistan is also confronted with covid-19 calamities. The aim of the study is to examine the impacts of workplace measures (WM) on the job performance (JP) and covid-19 fears (CF) along with the moderating role of academic competence (AC) based on the organizational support theory (OST) and job demand and resources (JDR) theory. A quantitative approach was applied to collect data from 333 banking employees in Gujranwala (Pakistan), and the hypothesis were tested via structural equation modeling using SPSS and AMOS. The study findings indicate that workplace measures significantly affect covid-19 fears except for individual preventive measures (IPM). Similarly, workplace measures significantly impact on job performance apart from information about the pandemic (IAP). Moreover, academic competence insignificantly moderates between workplace measures and covid-19 fears, but a significant moderation is found between information about pandemic (IAP) and covid-19 fears. Meanwhile, academic competence significantly moderates between workplace measures and job performance instead of a relationship between information about pandemic and job performance. However, this study was limited only to the banking sector of Pakistan. So, it will open the doors for future researchers to investigate other cultural contexts and sectors. This research gives a holistic understanding of workplace measures and contributes to the body of knowledge by enlightening the moderating role of academic competence in the banking sector of Pakistan. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the impact of Introduction of Smart Teaching and Learning (INSTAL) project on students' academic achievements in terms of students' science scores. Information and communication technologies (ICT)-based initiative was introduced in Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) schools at District Khairpur, Sindh, Pakistan. The aim of the study was to identify whether science test scores of students have been improved with the use of INSTAL facility at schools or remained the same at SEF-supported schools. Design/methodology/approach: The quantitative research approach has been used in the current study, and within it a quasi-experimental research design was employed. The descriptive (mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (independent sample "t"-test and paired sample "t"-test) were computed to find the pre- and post-difference in science scores of students. Both primary and secondary data were used. The primary data were gathered through questionnaire from 48 science teachers. Whereas, secondary data of 382 students who used ICT-based facility under INSATL project for two academic years were taken from quality assessment test (QAT) scores conducted by third party in SEF-assisted schools in District Khairpur. Findings: The findings of the study revealed that the students' science scores improved by 10% in one year and 23% in two years with the use of ICT-based facilities under INSTAL project. Also, it can be concluded from the results that ICT has a positive as well as statistically significant impact on students' science learning by using INSTAL facility in schools. Results of the study show that students' level of interest toward learning science has been enhanced by the use of ICT. Practical implications: As the world is rapidly moving toward digitalization, the modes of teaching and learning have been changing. ICT plays a very significant role in the betterment of education. ICT helps to achieve socio-economic development of a country. However, Pakistan, being a developing country, has not that much resources, and ICT-based learning is not common in Pakistan. Therefore, it is very important to be aware people about the usage of technology in teaching and learning. The present study is an attempt to create such type of awareness. Moreover, the current study may be the first kind of study in the context of Pakistan which used TPACK as theoretical framework, and this study may contribute to the body of knowledge in the context of ICT. Originality/value: Implementing ICT-based software for teaching and learning in rural context of Pakistan was a challenging task, but it has brought positive results in terms of student's achievement. This may be the first study that has been conducted in the context of adopted schools of SEF.

Skeletal dysplasias (SKDs) are a heterogeneous group of more than 750 genetic disorders characterized by abnormal development, growth, and maintenance of bones or cartilage in the human skeleton. SKDs are often caused by variants in early patterning genes and in many cases part of multiple malformation syndromes and occur in combination with non‐skeletal phenotypes. The aim of this study was to investigate the underlying genetic cause of congenital SKDs in highly consanguineous Pakistani families, as well as in sporadic and familial SKD cases from India using multigene panel sequencing analysis. Therefore, we performed panel sequencing of 386 bone‐related genes in 7 highly consanguineous families from Pakistan and 27 cases from India affected with SKDs. In the highly consanguineous families, we were able to identify the underlying genetic cause in five out of seven families, resulting in a diagnostic yield of 71%. Whereas, in the sporadic and familial SKD cases, we identified 12 causative variants, corresponding to a diagnostic yield of 44%. The genetic heterogeneity in our cohorts was very high and we were able to detect various types of variants, including missense, nonsense, and frameshift variants, across multiple genes known to cause different types of SKDs. In conclusion, panel sequencing proved to be a highly effective way to decipher the genetic basis of SKDs in highly consanguineous families as well as sporadic and or familial cases from South Asia. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have received substantial research as manufacturing innovation and prospective photocatalysts for the degradation of organic contaminants due to large surface area, strong anionic exchange capacity, and tunable composition. In this study, we modified Mg/Al-LDHs with Ni and Cr to further enhance their performance in removing Methyl Orange (MO) an anionic dye widely used in textiles, cosmetics, and healthcare products. The modified Mg/Al-LDHs were synthesized using hydrothermal co-precipitation method and characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The breakdown rate of MO under solar light was used for evaluating the material's photocatalytic activity. The outcomes demonstrated that the Ni/Mg/Al/Cr (LDH-4) photocatalysts degraded MO more quickly than the undoped substance. The addition of Cr to the Ni/Mg/Al matrix caused the band gap to develop new energy levels, which increased the material's photocatalytic activity. The Ni/Mg/Al doped with Cr has demonstrated tremendous potential as a photocatalysts for the MO degradation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Covid‐19 pandemic has caused a significant decline in stock markets worldwide, and organizations are experiencing serious financial problems. Protecting and preserving firm value are critical ways to help organizations survive the crisis. This study analyzes a sample of 45 firms listed on the Polish Stock Market in two periods to determine the relationship among green initiatives, the triple bottom line (TBL) perspective, and firm value in the periods before and during the crisis caused by the Covid‐19 pandemic. The results show that firms with higher green initiatives are more likely to obtain better TBL performance during the normal period. Economic and social dimensions of TBL positively influence firm value regardless of the period, but the same is not true of the ecological dimension. The Covid‐19 pandemic's negative impact on investors' perception does not translate to firm value. This study provides the first empirical evidence on the value of organizations affected by the Covid‐19 pandemic in the context of environmental management. By considering the TBL approach, this study provides a new boundary condition that explains the impact mechanism of green initiatives during a crisis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
