Makale, WOS : 000901834600003, PubMed ID : 36138005, Purpose:To evaluate the effect of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) on the ocular surface and conjunctival cytology and the relationship between the findings and disease severity.Methods:One hundred six eyes of 106 patients (77 patients with OSAS and 29 control subjects) were included in the study. Twenty-three patients with an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of 5 to 15 were classified as mild OSAS (group 1), 27 patients with an AHI of 15 to 30 were classified as moderate OSAS (group 2), and 27 patients with an AHI >= 30 were classified as severe OSAS (group 3). The following tests were used to evaluate the ocular surface: tear break-up time (TBUT), Schirmer I test, ocular surface disease index (OSDI), and conjunctival impression cytology (CIC). The results obtained from the tests were analyzed and compared between the groups.Results:The mean value of the Schirmer I test was 15.03 +/- 10.16 (1-35) mm in the control group, whereas it was found as 13.39 +/- 8.80 (3-35) mm, 9.85 +/- 7.81 (1-30) mm, and 9.41 +/- 7.53 (2-35) mm in the mild, moderate, and severe OSAS groups, respectively, and the difference between the groups was significant (P=0.002). Although the mean TBUT score was 9.83 +/- 5.03 (3-23) seconds in the control group, it was 11.04 +/- 6.22 (3-20), 6.26 +/- 3.48 (1-16), and 5.44 +/- 3.09 (1-10) in the mild, moderate, and severe OSAS groups, respectively, and the difference between the groups was significant (P, Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Faculty of Medicine

Amaç: Kliniğimize başvuran, lakrimal kanalikül travması olan olguların retrospektif olarak değerlendirilmesi Gereç ve Yöntem: Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi, Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalına Eylül 2010-Ekim 2012 tarihleri arasında başvuran kanalikül travmalı olguların yaşı, cinsiyeti, yaralanmaya sebep olan etken, etkilenen kanalikül, ameliyata kadar geçen süre, travmanın oluşma mekanizması, travma ile cerrahi arasında geçen süre, tercih edilen anestezi tipi, uygulanan cerrahi girişimler ve fonksiyonel sonuçları dosya kayıtlarından retrospektif olarak incelendi. Bulgular: Olguların yaş ortalaması 19,359,5 olup, %85i erkek, %15i kadındır. Kanalikül travmasının oluşmasında en sık etken %30 ile metalik cisimlerle yaralanmalar olup bunu sırası ile bitki, ağaç ve ahşap cisimler, cam, hayvan darbesi ve düşme sonucu yaralanmalar takip etmektedir. Yirmi olgunun 14ünde (%70) izole alt kanalikül kesisi, dördünde (%20) izole üst kanalikül kesisi, geri kalan ikisinde bikanaliküler kesi tespit edilmiştir. Monokanaliküler entübasyon yapılan 16 olgu ve bikanaliküler nazal entübasyon yapılan bir olgunun hiçbirinde epifora tespit edilmemiştir. Sonuç: Kanalikül kesileri özellikle çocuk ve gençleri etkilemekle birlikte tüm yaş gruplarında karşılaşılabilen acil bir oftalmolojik durumdur. Onarımda entübasyon gerekli olup hastanın durumu ve cerrahın tecrübesine göre monokanaliküler veya bikanaliküler yöntemlerden biri tercih edilebilir. Kliniğimizde izole alt veya üst kanalikül kesilerinde monokanaliküler entübasyon sıklıkla tercih edilmekte olup, bu yöntemle başarılı sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. (Turk J Ophthalmol 2014; 44: 219-22), Objectives: To retrospectively evaluate the patients who presented to our clinic with lacrimal canalicular injury. Materials and Methods: In this study, we included 20 patients who presented to the Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Medical Faculty, Department of Ophthalmology, with lacrimal canalicular injury between September 2010 and October 2012. Epidemiological data, mode of the injury, period between the injury and surgical repair, surgical technique, and outcomes were analyzed retrospectively from the patient records. Results: Mean age of the patients was 19.35±9.5 years. 85% of patients were male and 15% were female. The most common cause of injury was metallic foreign bodies (30% of patients). Injuries with plants, trees, and wooden objects, glass, animal hits, and injuries associated with falling down are the other causes, respectively. Of the 20 patients, 14 had isolated lower canalicular injury (70%), 4 had upper canalicular injury (20%), and the remaining 2 had both lower and upper canalicular injury. Monocanalicular intubation was performed in 16 cases, and bicanalicular in tubation was performed in 1 case. Postoperatively, none of the patients had epiphora. Conclusion: Canalicular injuries are ophthalmologic emergencies affecting all age groups, especially children and teenagers. Canalicular intubation is necessary in the surgical repair, and monocanalicular or bicanalicular techniques can be performed according to the patient characteristics and the experience of the surgeon. In our clinic, monocanalicular intubation is mostly performed in isolated lower or upper canalicular injuries, and successful results were achieved with this technique. Yüksek miyop hastalarda, optik koherens tomografi (OKT) ile görülen posterior stafi lom içerisindeki makülanın konveks protrüzyonu Gaucher ve arkadaşları tarafından Kubbe şekilli maküla (Dome Shaped Makula - KŞM) olarak tanımlanmıştır. KŞM'ya seröz retina dekolmanı (SRD), retina pigment epitel (RPE) düzensizlikleri veya koroidal neovaskülarizasyon (KNV) gibi görme keskinliğinin azalmasından sorumlu olan bazı komplikasyonlar eşlik edebilmektedir. Eşlik eden bu komplikasyonlara yönelik görüş birliğine varılmış bir tedavi şekli bulunmamaktadır.KŞM'ya eşlik eden SRD nedeniyle birkaç yıldır sağ gözde görme azlığı olan 51 yaşındaki kadın olgu kliniğimizde takip edilmekteydi. En iyi düzeltilmiş görme keskinliği (EİDGK) sağ gözde 6/10, sol gözde 10/10 düzeyindeydi. Yaklaşık 1 yıllık takibinde EİDGK'nin SRD'a rağmen stabil kaldığı gözlendi ancak 18. ayda subretinal sıvıda artış ve EİDGK'nde azalma meydana geldi. Bu nedenle hastanın sağ gözüne 1 ay ara ile 2 doz intravitreal Anti-VEGF (ranibizumab) enjeksiyonu yapıldı. Sonraki kontrollerinde enjeksiyona yanıt alınamadığı görüldü. Olgu ek müdahale yapılmadan yakın takip edildi. Son enjeksiyondan yaklaşık 8 ay sonra optik koherens tomografi (OKT) tetkikinde foveadaki SRD'nın spontan olarak yatıştığı ve sağ gözde EİDGK'nin 7/10 düzeyine çıktığı görüldü. SRD'nın spontan regresyonunu takiben hasta 6 ay aynı görme düzeyi ve nüks olmadan takip edildi. Bu olgu sunumunda SRD'nın eşlik ettiği komplike KŞM'lı bir hastanın yaklaşık 3 yıllık takibi sonucunda SRD'nın kendiliğinden gerilediği sürecin paylaşılması amaçlanmıştır, In highly myopic patients, convex protrusion of the macula within a posterior staphyloma, diagnosed by optical coherence tomography (OCT), was described as dome shaped macula (DSM) by Gaucher et al. DSM is often associated with several complications such as serous retinal detachment (SRD), retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) abnormalities, choroidal neovascularization (CNV), all responsible for visual loss. To date it has not been possible to establish effective treatment of this complications.A 51 years old female presented to our department because of blurred vision in her right eye (OD) in a few years and followed for DSM associated with foveal SRD. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 6/10 in her OD and 10/10 in her OS. After one year of follow up, BCVA of her OD and SRD remained stable. In 18th month, visual loss in her OD and progression of subretinal fl uid occured. The intravitreal antiangiogenic drug ranibizumab was injected two times a month in her OD. Ranibizumab injection has failed to show effi cacy in follow up period and therefore patient was observed without any treatment. After 8 months of ranibizumab injection BCVA of her OD was 7/10, subretinal fl uid was resorbed and the retina reattached spontaneously and it was confi rmed by optical coherence tomography (OCT). After spontaneous regression of SRD the patient followed about 6 months with same BCVA and any recurrence of SRD. In this case report we aimed to show spontaneous regression of DSM associated with foveal SRD in a patient followed up 3 years

Bu çalışmada, Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi, Meram Tıp Fakültesi, Yenidoğan Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi ve Göz Hastalıkları polikliniğinde takip ve tedavisi yapılan prematüre bebeklerde, prematüre retinopatisi görülme sıklığını saptamak ve tedavi sonuçlarının değerlendirmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ocak 2012 – Haziran 2014 tarihleri arasında takip edilen prematüre bebeklerin muayene bulguları incelendi, doğum haftası ve doğum ağırlıklarına göre gruplandırıldı. Bebeklerde prematüre retinopatisi gelişme oranı, evrelere göre dağılımı ve tedavi durumları değerlendirildi. Çalışma kapsamında 304 prematüre bebek değerlendirildi. Ortalama gestasyonel yaş 31.12.3 (24- 36) hafta, ortalama doğum ağırlığı ise 1587.58 454.49 (490-3300) gram olarak saptandı. Bebeklerin 75 tanesinde (%24.7) prematüre retinopatisi izlendi. Hastalık en sık Zon 2’de (45 bebek) görülürken, en az Zon 1’de (1 bebek) görüldü. En sık Evre 1 (43 bebek) hastalık görülürken, en az evre 3 (3 bebek) görüldü . Evre 4 ve evre 5 olan hasta izlenmedi. Yalnızca 1 bebekte agresif posterior prematüre retinopatisi tespit edildi. Prematüre retinopatisi saptanan bebeklerin 45 tanesinde (%60) Plus hastalık varlığı saptandı. Prematüre retinopatisi saptanan bebeklerin 22 tanesine (%29.3) argon lazer fotokoagülasyon tedavisi uygulandı. Tedavi uygulanan tüm hastalarda başarı elde edildi. Gestasyonel yaşı küçük ve düşük doğum ağırlıklı bebeklerde görülen prematüre retinopatisi görme kaybına sebep olabilen ciddi bir sağlık sorunudur. Bu hastaların takibi özenle yapılmalı ve gerekli görüldüğü durumlarda Argon lazer fotokoagulasyon tedavisi uygulanmalıdır., Objective of this study was to determine the incidence and treatment results of retinopathy of prematurity among premature infants followed in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Ophthalmology Clinic, Meram Faculty of Medicine, Necmettin Erbakan University. Premature infants followed between January 2012 and June 2014 were included in the study. Infants were grouped according to birth weight and gestational age. Retinopathy of prematurity incidence, stage and percentage of infants who were treated with Argon laser were evaluated. Also, the treatment results and complications of treatment were determined. The mean gestational age and the mean birth weight of the 304 premature infants included in our study were 31.1 2.3 (24-36) weeks and 1587.58 454.49 (490-3300) gr, respectively. Retinopathy of prematurity was detected in 24.7% (75/304) of the followed infants. Retinopathy of prematurity was recognized at the zone 2 (45 infants) most frequently, while at the zone 1 (1 infant) was least frequently. Stage 1 (43 infants) disease was occurred most frequently, however stage 3 (3 infants) was observed least frequently. There was no premature infants in stage 4 and stage 5. Aggressive posterior retinopathy of prematurity was diagnosed in only one premature infant. A total of 45 (%60) premature infants having retinopathy of prematurity had also plus disease. Argon laser treatment was applied to 22 (%29.3) premature infants with favorable results in all of them. As an important disease retinopathy of prematurity composes a great risk of blindness for infants with small gestational age and low birth weight. Argon laser treatment of eyes with retinopathy of prematurity seems to be an effective and safe alternative.

Amaç: Dekstransız izotonik riboflavin solüsyonu ile yapılan kornea kollajen çapraz bağlama (KKÇB) uygulamasında kornea kalınlığının takip edilmesi. Gereç ve Yöntem: Progresif keratokonus olgularına uygulanan KKÇB uygulaması sırasında kornea kalınlığı değerlendirildi. Her olgunun sırası ile kornea epiteli kazındıktan sonra: 0., 15. ve 30. dakikalarda, Ultraviole A (UVA) uygulama sırasında 15. ve 30. dakikalarda santral kornea kalınlığı ultrasonik pakimetri cihazı ile ölçüldü. Bulgular: Progresif keratokonusu olan 24 olgunun 24 gözü çalışmaya dahil edildi. Ortalama en ince pakimetrik değer, kornea epiteli kazındıktan sonra 0., 15. ve 30. dakikalarda sırasıyla 409,3810,43 ?m (383-435 ?m), 434,5617,68 ?m (400-485 ?m) ve 457,4421,78 ?m (428-516 ?m) idi ve UVA uygulamasının 15. ve 30. dakikasında sırasıyla 471,6923,38 ?m (439-526 ?m) ve 482,6323,69 ?m (436-524 ?m) olarak tespit edildi. Uygulama süresince kornea kalınlığındaki artışın bir önceki ölçümle kıyaslandığında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu görüldü (p0,001). Sonuç: Dekstransız izotonik riboflavin solüsyonu ile yapılan KKÇB uygulaması sırasında korneada incelmenin olmadığı, aksine uygulama süresince korneanın düzenli şekilde kalınlaştığı görüldü. (Turk J Ophthalmol 2014; 44: 272-4), Objectives: To monitor the corneal thickness change during the dextran-free isotonic riboflavin solution-aided corneal collagen cross-linking procedure in keratoconus patients. Materials and Methods: Corneal thickness measurements during the corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) treatment for progressive keratoconus were evaluated. The corneal thickness measurements were obtained with ultrasonic pachymetry device at five different time points: 0, 15, and 30 minutes after epithelial removal and 15 and 30 minutes after the initiation of UVA irradiation. Results: Twenty-four eyes of 24 patients with progressive keratoconus were included in the study. The thinnest pachymetric values obtained at the 0, 15, and 30 minute measurements after corneal deepithelisation were 409.3810.43 ?m (383-435 ?m), 434.5617.68 ?m (400-485 ?m), and 457.4421.78 ?m (428-516 ?m), respectively. Pachymetric values obtained at 15 and 30 minutes after UVA application to the cornea were 471.6923.38 ?m (439-526 ?m) and 482.6323.69 ?m (436-524 ?m), respectively. The gradual increase was found to be statistically significant when each measurement was compared with the previous values (p0.001). Conclusion: We found that the corneal thickness was not decreased during the CXL with dextran-free isotonic riboflavin solution; on the contrary, corneal thickness was increased regularly during the procedure. A 27-year-old female patient had applied to our clinic with complaint of sudden onset, painless and persistent loss of vision in the left eye starting after an airplane flight days ago. She was 26 weeks pregnant. Visual acuity in the left eye was counting fingers with normal anterior segment examination. On fundus exam, subhyaloid hemorrhage covering the macular region between the vascular arcades was noticed. After giving information about the pregnancy, compli-- cation risks and other treatment alternatives, drainage of the subhyaloid hemorrhage with Argon laser membranotomy treatment was performed. After laser treatment, drainage of the hemorrhage into the vitreous cavity and instant improvement of vision was observed with no complications. The visual acuity was 0.3 (Snellen chart) the following day and 0.9 on the third postoperative day. Premacular hemorrhage was completely drained at one month. No complications were observed on month follow--up. 532 nm lasers are present in most clinics and when proper parameters are selected, it proved to be an effective and safe alternative for treating premacular subhyaloid hemor-- rhage in our patient., Uçak seyahati sonrası sol gözünde 3 gün önce başlayan ani görme kaybı şikayeti olan 27 yaşında 26 haftalık hamile hasta kliniğimize başvurdu. Hastanın görme keskinliği sol gözde 50 santimetreden parmak sayma düzeyinde ölçüldü ve ön segment muayenesi doğaldı. Hastanın fundus muayenesinde sol gözde vasküler arkadların içini tamamen dolduran yarı yarıya seviye veren subhiyaloid-internal limitan membran (İLM) hemoraji tespit edildi. Hastaya hamilelik durumu, uygulanabilecek tedavi seçenekleri ve komplikasyonları ile ilgili bilgi verildikten sonra Argon lazer membranotomi önerildi ve hastanın kabulü üzerine uygulandı. Komplikasyonsuz uygulamanın ardından subhiyaloid- İLM hemorajinin sızıntı şeklinde vitreusa boşalmaya başladığı izlendi. Hastanın ertesi gün görme keskinliğinin 0,3 (Snellen eşeli), postoperatif 3. günde 0,9 olduğu görüldü. Birinci ay sonunda premaküler sahadaki hemoraji tamamen temizlenmişti. Hastanın 2 aylık takibinde görme keskinliği tamdı ve komplikasyon yoktu. 532 nm lazer günümüzde pek çok klinikte bulunan bir cihaz olup, lazer membranotomi uygun parametreler ile uygulandığında hastamızda subhiyaloid-İLM hemoraji tedavisinde etkin ve güvenilir bir seçenek olduğu görülmüştür.

Sağ gözünde son 10 ay içinde 3 kez tekrarlayan tek taraflı ön üveit ile takip edilen 79 yaşında erkek hasta, sağ gözde görme keskinliği parmak sayma düzeyinde, biyomikroskopik muayenesinde hipopiyonlu ön üveit ve vitritis ile başvurdu. Sol göz muayenesi doğal idi. Hasta göz içi yabancı cisim, lenfoma, sistemik hastalık ve malignensi yönünden araştırıldı. Hastada bilgisayarlı tomografi ile mesanede kitle saptandı ve yapılan biyopsi sonucu mesane karsinomu olarak rapor edildi. Transüretral yolla kitle eksizyonu yapılan hastanın iki yıllık takibinde üveit atağı izlenmedi. Hastanın ameliyatından iki yıl sonra yapılan muayenesinde sağ gözde görme keskinliğinin ışık hissi olduğu görüldü ve biyomikroskopik muayenesinde seklusio pupilla ve matür katarakt saptandı. Oküler ultrasonografide vitreusta kondensasyon artışı izlenmedi. Yazımızda tekrarlayan üveit ve mesane karsinomu birlikteliği tartışılmaktadır. Bilindiği kadarıyla olgumuz, tek taraflı tekrarlayan ön üveit ile mesane karsinomu tanısı almış ilk hastadır., A 79-year-old male patient was followed for unilateral uveitis with 3 attacks in 10 months, despite initial improvement with steroid therapy. The patient had visual acuity (VA) of counting fingers in right eye, hypopyon and vitritis with no chorioretinal lesions. The left eye was normal. The patient was evaluated for intraocular foreign body, intraocular lymphoma and associated systemic disease and malignancy. Computed tomography of the abdomen showed a mass in the bladder. Biopsy confirmed bladder carcinoma. After resection of the mass, intraocular inflammation improved completely and no attack was noted in the follow-up. In his last examination, two years after the operation, VA was light perception; seclusio pupilla and mature cataracts were seen on biomicroscopy. There was no sign of vitritis on ocular ultrasonography. Evidence is discussed that suggests a link and potential etiology between refractory uveitis with hypopyon and bladder carcinoma. This is the first case of unilateral recurrent uveitis with hypopyon as the initial presenting sign of bladder carcinoma.

Altı ay önce yüksek voltajlı elektrik akımına maruz kalan sekiz yaşındaki erkek hasta, her iki gözde görme keskinliğinde azalma şikayetiyle kliniğimize başvurdu. Görme keskinliği her iki gözde 2/10 düzeyindeydi. Ön segment muayenesinde yoğun arka ve ön kapsül altı kesafet tespit edildi. Hastanın her iki gözüne katarakt cerrahisi ve göz içi lens implantasyonu uygulandı. Özellikle baş ve boyun bölgesinde meydana gelen elektrik yaralanmasına maruz kalan olgularda ilerleyen dönemlerde katarakt gelişebileceği akılda tutulmalıdır. Bu makalede elektrik yaralanmasına bağlı katarakt gelişen olgunun cerrahi müdahale ile sağlanan tam görsel rehabilitasyonu sunulmuştur., 8 year-old boy presented with decrease of visual acuity in both eyes after the exposure to high volts of electricity six months ago. Visual acuities were 2/10 in both eyes. Slit lamp examination revealed bilateral posterior and anterior subcapsular cataracts. Uneventful bilateral phacoemulsification and surgeries with implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lenses were performed in both eyes. It should be taken into account that electrical injuries to head and neck should be complicated by cataract. It is presented that the surgeries for electrical cataract respond well to surgery.

Bu yazıda nadir görülen, seröz maküler dekolmanlı optik disk çukurluğu bulunan çocuk olguyu sunuyoruz. Optik disk çukurları 10000de 1den daha az görülür ve olguların %10-15inde iki taraflıdır. Doğumsal optik disk çukuru olgularının yaklaşık %50si seröz makula dekolmanı ile ilişkilidir. Uzun süre devam eden seröz dekolmanlar genellikle makülanın kistik dejenerasyonu ve alttaki retinal pigment epitelinden pigment kaybı ile ilişkilidir. Bundan dolayı, seröz maküla dekolmanı olan gözlerin çoğunda optik disk çukuru oluşumu ile birlikte göreceli olarak kötü görsel prognoz vardır. Burada seröz dekolmanlı optik disk çukuru olan çocuk olgunun değerlendirilmesinin klinik önemini vurguladık., Optic disc pits occur in less than 1 in 10.000. Approximately 50% of cases of congenital optic disc pits are associated with serous macular detachment. Long-standing serous detachments are usually associated with cystic degeneration of the macula and loss of pigment from the underlying retinal pigment epithelium. Hence, most eyes with serous macular detachment associated with an optic disc pit have a relatively poor visual prognosis. We represent a 9-year-old girl with a right optic disc pit associated with serous retinal detachment of the macula. Our experience underline that clinicians must be vigilant about the assessment of optic disc pit and furthermore in the diagnosis of optic disc pit, careful and close ophthalmologic examination for macular detachment is recommended for early diagnosis.

Bu çalışmada Stargardt hastalığının özelliklerinin ve progresyonunun incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Fundus flavimakülatuslu (FFM) 18 olgu ve fundus flavimakülatusla beraber Stargardt hastalığı (FFMSTGD) olan 5 olgunun elektrofizyolojik özellikleri gözden geçirilmiş ve STGD'lı genç bir hastada progresyon optik koherens tomografi (OKT), elektroretinografi (ERG) ve elektrookülografi (EOG) ile incelenmiştir. Bulgular: EOG Arden indeksleri (EOG Aİ) ve rod ERG genliklerinde FFM ve FFMSTGD arasında istatistiksel bir fark yoktu (t1.02 ve p0.05). Kon ERG genliklerinde ise %1 olasılık seviyesinde fark vardı ve FFMSTGD grubunda anlamlı derecede azalmıştı (t5.03 ve p0.01). Görsel uyarıya kortikal cevap latensleri (t5.56 ve p0.01) ve genliklerinde de (t4.84 ve p0.01) iki grup arasında anlamlı fark mevcuttu. Stargardt olgusunda ise ERG'de tüm parametreler üç yıllık süre içinde subnormal seviyeden patolojik seviyelere ve EOG Aİ'leri normal oranlardan subnormal-anormal oranlara geriledi. Optik koherens tomografi (OKT) bulgularında ise bu zaman içinde hafif değişiklikler saptandı. Sonuç: STGD hastalığı değişik şekillerde görülebilmektedir. STGD'ın varyantı olarak kabul edilen FFM'ta lezyonlar daha çok periferdedir ve hastalık daha ileri yaşlarda belirti verir. FFM'da elektrofizyolojik parametrelerde etkilenme daha az olmaktadır. ERG ve EOG bulgularının zaman içinde belirgin şekilde değişmesi buna karşın OKT ile tespit edilen görüntülerde hafif değişikliklerin olması, progresyon takibinde ERG ve EOG'nin tercih edilebileceğini göstermektedir, Investigation the properties and progression in Stargardt's disease.Material and Methods: The electrophysiological features of fundus flavimaculatus (FFM) in 18 cases and fundus flavimaculatus with Stargardt's disease (FFMSTGD) in 5 cases were revisited and the progression in a young patient with STGD was investigated using optical coherence tomography (OCT), electroretinography (ERG) and electrooculography (EOG). Results: EOG Arden index (EOG AI) and rod ERG amplitudes did not differ significantly between FFM and FFMSTGD (t1.02 and p0.01). There was a significant difference between the two groups in visually evoked cortical response latencies (t5.56 and p>0.01) and in amplitudes (t4.84 and p>0.01). In Stargardt's case, all ERG parameters worsened to pathological levels from subnormal values and EOG AI to subnormal-abnormal ratios from normal ratios within a three year period. Subtle changes in optical coherens tomography (OCT) were noted during this period. Conclusion: STGD may be seen in variable appearances. In FFM which is accepted as the variant of STGD, the lesions are located peripherally and the disease manifests itself in advanced ages. The electrophysiological parameters are less affected in FFM. The gross changes in ERG and EOG findings within time whereas subtle changes occurring in OCT implies that ERG and EOG can be preferred in the detection of progression

Amaç: Yaşa bağlı maküla dejenerasyonunda intravitreal anti-VEBF ajanların retinada yaptığı değişikliklerin spektral optik koherens tomografi (OKT) ile değerlendirilmesi.Gereç ve Yöntem: Eksüdatif yaşa bağlı maküla dejenerasyonu (YBMD) olan 78 gözde, spektral OKT ile retina sinir lifi tabakası (RSLT) ve maküla kalınlıkları intravitreal anti-VEBF enjeksiyonları öncesinde ve 6 enjeksiyon sonrasında kaydedilerek karşılaştırıldı. Sonuçlar: Anti-VEBF enjeksiyonları sonrasında, RSLT kalınlığı 103.242.06 µ'dan 101.171.49 µ'na geriledi (p0.362). Maküla kalınlığı 420.1516.79 µ'dan 358.5913.52 µ'a geriledi (p0.001). Tartışma: Anti-VEBF ajanlar yaşa bağlı maküla dejenerasyonunda maküla kalınlığında anlamlı azalmaya neden olurken, RSLT kalınlığında anlamlı olmayan azalmaya neden olmaktadır., Purpose: Evaluation the effects of intravitreal anti-VEGF agents on retina using spectral optical coherence tomography (OCT) in age related macular degeneration.Materials and Methods: Retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and macular thickness measurements were made and compared before and after 6 intravitreal anti-VEGF injections in 78 eyes with exudative age-related macular degeneration (ARMD).Results: After the anti-VEGF injections, RNFL thickness dropped to 101.171.49 µ from 103.242.06 µ (p0.362). Macular thickness regressed to 358.5913.52 µ from 420.1516.79 µ (p0.001). Conclusion: While anti-VEGF agents cause a significant decrease in macular thickness, they cause no significant decrease in RNFL thickness.

Amaç: Ankilozan spondilit (AS) ile ilişkili üveit tanısı almış olguların klinik seyir ve bulgularının incelenmesi Yöntemler: Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı, uvea birimi tarafından Mayıs 2009-Haziran 2012 tarihleri arasında AS ile ilişkili üveit tanısı almış olgular retrospektif olarak incelendi. Olguların sosyodemografik ve klinik özellikleri değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Toplam 13 hastanın 17 gözü çalışmaya dahil edildi. Olgular dokuz erkek (%69,2), dört kadından (%30,8) oluşmakta idi. Ortalama başvuru yaşları 38,549,61(28-63) yıl idi. Dört olguda iki taraflı tutulum (%30,8) tespit edildi. İzlem süreleri 17,4611,86 ay (3-36 ay) idi. Ortalama atak sayısı 1,150,37(1-2) idi. Üç gözde (%17,6) ön üveite eşlik eden arka segment bulguları izlendi. Bir olguda (%7,7) arka yapışıklık, bir olguda (%7,7) katarakt, iki olguda (%15,4) kistoid makula ödemi, bir olguda epiretinal membran (%7,7) tespit edildi. Hastaların sonuç görme keskinlikleri ortalama 0,9750,07 (0,2-1,0) olarak izlendi. Sonuç: AS ile ilişkili ön üveit olgularında zamanında ve doğru bir yaklaşım tarzı ile prognoz iyidir. Bu olgularda arka segment komplikasyonlarının da gelişebileceği unutulmamalı, tedavi ve takipleri romatoloji kliniği ile işbirliği içinde yapılmalıdır., Aim: To evaluate clinical course and signs in patients with uveitis associated ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Methods: In this retrospective study we evaluated the patients who were diagnosed as uveitis related to AS and followed up at the Ophthalmology Department of Necmettin Erbakan University Hospital between May 2009 and June 2012. Demographical features and clinical courses were assessed. Results: Seventeen eyes of 13 patients were included in the study. Nine patients (69.2%) were male and four (30.8%) were female. The mean age at presentation was 38.54±9.61 years (range 28-63). Bilateral involvement was observed in four (30.8%) patients. The mean followup time was 17.46±11.86 months (range 3-36). The mean number of attacks was 1.15±0.37 (range 1-2). Posterior segment manifestation accompanied anterior uveitis in three eyes (17.6%). Posterior synechia developed in one (7.7%) and cataract in one patient (7.7%), cystoid macular edema in two patients (15.4%), and epiretinal membrane in one patient (%7.7). The mean final visual acuity was 0.975±0.07 (range 0.2-1.0). Conclusion: The prognosis of anterior uveitis associated with AS is good if the treatment is administered at the appropriate time. However, the posterior segment complications may develop in these patients, treatment and follow-up should be done in co-operation with the department of rheumatology.
