Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
The R value is measured with a total of 14 data points with the corresponding center-of-mass energy going from 2.2324 to 3.6710 GeV. The statistical uncertainty of the measured R is less than 0.6%. Two different simulation models, the LUARLW and a new Hybrid generator, are used and give consistent detection and initial-state radiation corrections. An accuracy of better than 2.6% below 3.1 GeV and 3.0% above is achieved for the R value. The precise measurement will be an important constraint for precision tests of the Standard Model, such as calculations of the anomalous magnetic moment of the moun and the running of the QED coupling.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
In this work a novel technique to measure the hadronic R value (R = σhad0 / σμμ0) inclusively is presented. The method employs the initial state radiation (ISR) technique and the study is carried out for the BESIII experiment at the tau-charm factory BEPC-II. Given the large Lorentz-boost of the hadronic system produced in an ISR process, the efficiency to detect at least one of the hadrons (once the ISR photon is reconstructed) is very high, thus relieving the reliance of the measurement on the theoretical model used in the simulations. A first inclusive determination of the R value in the low energy region can, therefore, be achieved, providing a crucial cross check to the current evaluations based on the sum of exclusive measurements.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
The pion transition form factor is an important input to the dispersive approaches of the Standard Model calculations for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. We report the prospects of a first measurement at high momentum transfer in the time-like region performed at BESIII. The aim is to improve the uncertainty of the hadronic light-by-light calculations and to shed light on the BaBar-Belle puzzle in the space-like region.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
The two-photon physics program of the BESIII Collaboration is mainly motivated by the need of new measurements of transition form factors as input for the Standard Model calculations of aμHLbL$ \mathop a\nolimits_\mu ^{HLbL} $, the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to the anomalous magentic moment of the muon. The large data sets acquired at BESIII allow to study the transition form factors of pseudoscalar mesons in the relevant region of momentum transfer for aμHLbL$ \mathop a\nolimits_\mu ^{HLbL} $. In this presentation the status of the respective measurements for π0,η and η’ mesons are discussed, and prospects for studies of multi-meson systems as well as of doubly-virtual transition form factors are given.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
Motivated by the need of experimental input to improve the Standard Model prediction of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon aµ, the BESIII Collaboration started a dedicated program to measure hadronic cross sections as well as transition form factors (TFF) with high accuracy. The large data sets acquired by the BESIII Collaboration allow to exploit initial state radiation in order to study hadron production over a wide energy range, as well as two-photon collisions to study the momentum dependence of TFFs in the space like regime. The current status and ongoing investigations in both endeavors are discussed.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
The BESIII experiment, operated at the BEPCII e+e- collider in Beijing, has acquired large data sets at center-of-mass energies between 2.0 GeV and 4.6 GeV. One of the key aspects of the physics program of the BESIII collaboration is to test the understanding of QCD at intermediate energies. Applying different experimental techniques, form factors of hadrons are measured. Among these are the pion form factor, as an important input to the (g - 2)μ puzzle, and the electro-magnetic form factors of nucleons and hyperons in the time-like regime. An overview of the recent results and some ongoing studies at BESIII is provided.

- Abstract
The electromagnetic process is studied with the initial-state-radiation technique using 7.5 fb−1 of data collected by the BESIII experiment at seven energy points from 3.773 to 4.600 GeV. The Born cross section and the effective form factor of the proton are measured from the production threshold to 3.0 GeV/ using the invariant-mass spectrum. The ratio of electric and magnetic form factors of the proton is determined from the analysis of the proton-helicity angular distribution.

The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\to \pi^+D^0D^{*-}$ for center-of-mass energies from 4.05 to 4.60~GeV is measured precisely using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two enhancements are clearly visible in the cross section around 4.23 and 4.40~GeV. Using several models to describe the dressed cross section yields stable parameters for the first enhancement, which has a mass of $4228.6 \pm 4.1 \pm 6.3 \un{MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $77.0 \pm 6.8 \pm 6.3 \un{MeV}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. Our resonant mass is consistent with previous observations of the $Y(4220)$ state and the theoretical prediction of a $D\bar{D}_1(2420)$ molecule. This result is the first observation of $Y(4220)$ associated with an open-charm final state. Fits with three resonance functions with additional $Y(4260)$, $Y(4320)$, $Y(4360)$, $\psi(4415)$, or a new resonance, do not show significant contributions from either of these resonances. The second enhancement is not from a single known resonance. It could contain contributions from $\psi(4415)$ and other resonances, and a detailed amplitude analysis is required to better understand this enhancement.

The two-photon physics program of the BESIII Collaboration is mainly motivated by the need of new measurements of transition form factors as input for the Standard Model calculations of a μ H L b L $ \mathop a\nolimits_\mu ^{HLbL} $ , the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to the anomalous magentic moment of the muon. The large data sets acquired at BESIII allow to study the transition form factors of pseudoscalar mesons in the relevant region of momentum transfer for a μ H L b L $ \mathop a\nolimits_\mu ^{HLbL} $. In this presentation the status of the respective measurements for π
0 ,η and η' mesons are discussed, and prospects for studies of multi-meson systems as well as of doubly-virtual transition form factors are given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

The BESIII experiment, operated at the BEPCII e
+ e- collider in Beijing, has acquired large data sets at center-of-mass energies between 2.0 GeV and 4.6 GeV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

The decay mode ƞ→π+π−γ allows to study the box anomaly. Experimental data on differential distributions are scarce and of low statistic. Additionally, the largest samples have not been corrected for efficiency. Recent theoretical interpretations yield ambiguous results. Using the WASA facility at COSY, a new measurement has been done. A background subtracted sample of 13738 ± 136 events of the decay ƞ→π+π−γ has been obtained. Differential distributions of the particles in the final state have been studied after being corrected for efficiency. The pion angular distribution can be described by P-wave interaction. Evidence for contributions of higher angular momenta, such as a C-violating D-wave contribution, is not found. The investigation of the photon energy spectrum in the ƞ rest frame reveals a strong disagreement with the simplest gauge invariant matrix element. This was also observed by previous measurements. In contrast to previous measurements of the photon energy line shape, the obtained spectrum also covers the region below 50 MeV photon energy and the bin width, which is matched with the resolution of the variable, is smaller by a factor of 2. The line shape of the distribution is found in agreement with VMD calculations which are used as an unitarized extension of the simplest matrix element.

- Abstract
Exclusive and kinematically complete high-statistics measurements of quasifree polarized (n) over right arrowp scattering have been performed in the energy region of the narrow resonancelike structure d* with I(J(P)) = 0(3(+)),M approximate to 2380 MeV, and Gamma approximate to 70 MeV observed recently in the double-pionic fusion channels pn -> d pi(0)pi(0) and pn -> d pi(+)pi(-). The experiment was carried out with the WASA detector setup at COSY having a polarized deuteron beam impinged on the hydrogen pellet target and utilizing the quasifree process (d) over right arrowp -> np + p(spectator). This allowed the np analyzing power, A(y), to be measured over a broad angular range. The obtained A(y) angular distributions deviate systematically from the current SAID SP07 NN partial-wave solution. Incorporating the new A(y) data into the SAID analysis produces a pole in the D-3(3) - (3)G(3) waves in support of the d* resonance hypothesis.

- Abstract
The existence of a light dark force mediator has been tested with the KLOE detector at DA Phi NE. This particle, called U. is searched for using the decay chain phi -> eta U, eta -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0), U -> e(+)e(-). No evidence is found in 1.5 fb(-1) of data. The resulting exclusion plot covers the mass range 5 < M-U < 470 MeV, setting an upper limit on the ratio between the U boson coupling constant and the One structure constant, alpha'/alpha, of <= 2 x 10(-5) at 90% C.L. for 50 < M-U < 420 MeV.

- Abstract
The reaction pp -> pp pi(0)pi(0) has been investigated at a beam energy of 1.4 GeV using the WASA-at-COSY facility. The total cross section is found to be (324 +/- 21(systematic) +/- 58(normalization)) mu b. In order to study the production mechanism, differential kinematic distributions have been evaluated. The differential distributions indicate that both initial state protons are excited into intermediate Delta(1232) resonances, each decaying into a proton and a single pion, thereby producing the pion pair in the final state. No significant contribution of the Roper resonance N*(1440) via its decay into a proton and two pions is found.

- Abstract
Exclusive and kinematically complete high-statistics measurements of the double pionic fusion reaction dd -> He-4 pi(0)pi(0) have been performed in the energy range 0.8-1.4 GeV covering thus the region of the Abashian-Booth-Crowe effect, which denotes a pronounced low-mass enhancement in the pi pi invariant mass spectrum. The experiments were carried out with the WASA detector setup at the cooler synchrotron at Forshungszentrum Julich GmbH. Similar to the observation in the basic pn -> d pi(0)pi(0) reaction, the data reveal a correlation between the ABC effect and a resonancelike energy dependence in the total cross section. The maximum occurs at m = 2.37 GeV + 2m(N), i.e., at the same position as in the basic reaction. The observed resonance width Gamma approximate to 160 MeV can be understood from broadening due to Fermi motion of the nucleons in initial and final nuclei together with collision damping. Differential cross sections are described equally well by the hypothesis of a pn resonance formation during the reaction process.

- Abstract
With pd collisions at T_p = 1.2 GeV exclusive measurements of the quasi-free pn -> pppi^0pi^- reaction have been carried out. Using the WASA detector setup at COSY total and differential cross sections have been obtained for the energy region &radics = 2.35 - 2.48 GeV. Though this includes the region of the ABC effect and its associated resonance structure, no low-mass enhancement (ABC effect) is found in the pi^0pi^--invariant mass spectrum - in agreement with the constraint from Bose statistics demanding the isovector pion pair to be in relative p-wave. Conventional calculations including t-channel processes for Roper, Delta(1600) and DeltaDelta excitations and their decays, which are well-known from the study of the two-pion production in pp collisions, provide a reasonable description of the data at high energies, but fall low at low energies. From this we conclude that a large contribution from a so far unknown isoscalar low-energy process is missed in the calculations. Inclusion of the ABC resonance at m = 2.37 GeV with Gamma = 70 MeV and I(J^P) = 0(3^+), which was recently observed in the pn -> dpi^0pi^0 reaction, leads to a much improved description of the data at low energies.

- Abstract
The decay eta -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma has been measured with the WASA facility at COSY. The largest data set taken so far in an exclusive measurement was acquired, with 13740 +/- 140 events after background subtraction. Efficiency corrected Dalitz plot distributions have been extracted, which show the importance of final state interactions for the understanding of the decay.

- Abstract
We report on an exclusive and kinematically complete high-statistics measurement of the basic double-pionic fusion reaction pn -> d pi(0)pi(0) over the full energy region of the ABC effect, a pronounced low-mass enhancement in the pi pi-invariant mass spectrum. The measurements, which cover also the transition region to the conventional t- channel Delta Delta process, were performed with the upgraded WASA detector setup at COSY. The data reveal the Abashian-Booth-Crowe effect to be uniquely correlated with a Lorentzian energy dependence in the integral cross section. The observables are consistent with a narrow resonance with m = 2.37 GeV, Gamma approximate to 70 MeV and I(J(P)) = 0(3(+)) in both pn and Delta Delta systems. Necessary further tests of the resonance interpretation are discussed.

- Abstract
The neutral kaon system offers a unique possibility to perform fundamental tests of CPT invariance. In this contribution the KLOE prospects for the measurements of CPT violation in the context of the Standard-Model Extension are presented. Preliminary results on the CPT violating parameters already obtained by KLOE analyzing only half of the available data with a simplified analysis scheme will be reported: Δ a X = (−6.3±6.0) × 10 −18 GeV, Δ a Y = (2.8 ± 5.9) × 10 −18 GeV, Δ a z = (2.4 ± 9.7) × 10 −18 GeV. In this contribution we will discuss a new analysis method that will allow to measure the complete set of four parameters (Δ a Ό ) also with the perspective given by the KLOE-2 data-taking campaign., Kloe/Kloe-2 collaboration

- Abstract
Charge symmetry breaking effects can be used as an experimental tool to study quark mass effects. Using recent high precision data from TRIUMF and IUCF an international theory collaboration is working on a consistent description within the framework of chiral pertubation theory. The WASA-at-COSY collaboration has started an experimental program extending the studies on the reaction dd -> (4)He pi(0) towards higher excess energies in order to provide necessary information on the contribution of p-waves. First preliminary results on the total cross section at Q = 60 MeV are presented., WASA at COSY collaboration

- Abstract
In October 2008, the WASA-at-COSY collected more than 10(7) events for the pd -> (3)He eta reaction. The aim is the determination of the invariant mass of the lepton pairs created in the Dalitz decay eta -> gamma e(+)e(-). The e(+)e(-) invariant mass spectrum is directly related to the distribution of the four-momentum squared of the virtual photon from the eta -> gamma gamma* process and hence it allows for the study of the transition form factor which in turn reflects the structure of the decaying meson., WASA at COSY collaboration

- Abstract
The search for the decay eta -> e(+)e(-) was carried out using the WASA detector at the COSY storage ring. Data were taken during a two week experimental run in Sept-Nov 2008 in which about 10(7) eta mesons were collected from the reaction of pp -> pp eta at energy of 1.4 GeV. Background studies were performed for several different reactions. The performance of the WASA detector for the measurement of electron-positron pairs based on the single Dalitz decay of the eta meson was studied. We also identified a statistically significant data sample of other more frequent leptonic decays., WASA at COSY collaboration

- Abstract
One of the key experiments of the physics program of WASA-at-COSY is the determination of the p- wave contributions to the Charge Symmetry breaking amplitude in the reaction dd -> (4)He pi(0) at 1.2 GeV/c beam momentum. As a first step towards realisation of this goal the Charge Symmetry conserving reaction dd -> (3)Hen pi(0) was measured. For an overall theoretical analysis of CSB reactions in terms of Chiral Perturbation Theory this reaction channel will be used to gain information on the deuteron-deuteron initial state interaction for s- and p- wave pion production., WASA at COSY collaboration

For the first time pp -> pp3 pi(0) has been measured at an incident proton momentum of P(b)=3.35GeV/c. The total cross section has been determined. The reaction mechanism is studied by a Dalitz plot analyses, which indicate that the leading production and decay mechanism is closely related to the simultaneous excitation of Delta(1232) and N*(1440) baryon resonances.

- Abstract
The ABC effect - an intriguing low-mass enhancement in the pi pi invariant mass spectrum - is known from inclusive measurements of two-pion production in nuclear fusion reactions. Exclusive measurements have been carried out at CELSIUS/WASA and WASA-at-COSY for the fusion reactions leading to d, (3)He and (4)He. They all reveal this effect to be of isoscalar nature and associated with a narrow Lorentzian-shaped structure in the total cross section. The latter could point to the formation of an isoscalar resonance, which couples to the pn channel as well as to an intermediate Delta Delta state.

The existence of a secluded gauge sector could explain several puzzling astrophysical observations. This hypothesis can be tested at low energy e + e − colliders such as DAΊNE. - Abstract
The Wide Angle Shower Apparatus (WASA) operated at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY-JÌlich is a 4p-spectrometer to study the decay channels of light mesons ranging up into the strange quark sector. A large number of η mesons is being produced in proton-deuteron and proton-proton reactions, permitting the study of very rare η -decay channels. One of the channels is the double Dalitz decay, where the η meson decays via two virtual photons into two electron-positron pairs. The coupling between the η meson and the two virtual photons can be described by the transition form factor. It depends on the squared invariant mass of the lepton pairs and allows to study the structure of the decay mechanism. Currently, there is only an experimental upper limit for the branching ratio. One objective of the WASA-at-COSY experiment is to reduce the upper limit for this decay channel or to determine a finite value of the branching ratio. The goal is to study the transition form factor. The status of the continuing analysis and preliminary results are presented., WASA at COSY collaboration
