Abstract

The escalating atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) due to human pursuit which includes fossil fuel combustion, deforestation, and industrial production make contributions considerably to international warming and climate change. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon capture and usage (CCU) technology provide viable solutions for mitigating those emissions. This paper critiques various CCS and CCU techniques that specialize of their ability applications, stressful situations, and environmental impacts. While CCS technologies provide promising consequences in decreasing international warming capability, they're associated with better acidification and human toxicity in comparison to standard techniques. Alternatively, CCU technologies present an opportunity to convert CO2 into valuable products, thereby imparting a sustainable approach to greenhouse gas reduction. But, these technology face challenges consisting of high expenses, energy consequences, and the need for social recognition. This study provides a comprehensive assessment of modern CCS and CCU technologies, evaluates their environmental affects, and discusses future prospects for their implementation in reducing industrial CO2 emissions.

2. Measuring Software Development Waste in Open-Source Software Projects

Abstract

Software Development Waste (SDW) is defined as any resource-consuming activity that does not add value to the client or the organization developing the software. SDW impacts the overall efficiency and productivity of a software project as the scale and size of the project grows. Although engineering leaders usually put in effort to minimize waste, the lack of definitive measures to track and manage SDW is a cause of concern. To address this gap, we propose five measures, namely Stale Forks, Project Diversification Index, PR Rejection Rate, Backlog Inversion Index, and Feature Fulfillment Rate to potentially identify unused artifacts, building the wrong feature/product, mismanagement of backlog types of SDW. Abstract

(E)-N’-Benzylidene-7-methyl-2-propyl-1H-benzo [d]imidazole-5-carbohydrazides (5a-r) have been synthesized from 7-methyl-2-propyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole-5-carbohydrazide (3) by condensing with different aromatic aldehydes (4a-r). Title compounds (5a-r) were evaluated for in vitro antioxidant activity and based on their potential for antioxidant property, selected compounds 5d and 5m-p were screened for in vivo anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. The results indicate that the compound 5o and 5p are effective against anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. The biological data was further supported by molecular docking studies, which revealed the binding pattern and the affinity of the molecules in the active site of COX-2.

Abstract

Immersiveness is the main characteristic of Virtual Reality(VR) applications. Precise integration between hardware design and software are necessary for providing a seamless virtual experience. Allowing the user to navigate the VR scene using locomotion techniques is crucial for making such experiences `immersive'. Locomotion in VR acts as a motion tracking unit for the user and simulates their movement in the virtual scene. These movements are commonly rotational, axial or translational based on the Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) of the application. To support effective locomotion, one of the primary challenges for VR practitioners is to transform their hardware from 3-DOF to 6-DOF or vice versa. We conducted a systematic review on different motion tracking methods employed in the Head-Mounted-Devices (HMD) to understand such hardware transformation. Our review discusses the fundamental aspects of the hardware-based transformation of HMDs to conduct virtual locomotion. Our observations led us to formulate a taxonomy of the tracking methods based on system design, which can eventually be used for the hardware transformation of HMDs. 18. Assessing New Hires' Programming Productivity Through UMETRIX -- An Industry Case Study

Abstract

New hires (novice or experienced) usually undergo an onboarding program for a specific period to get acquainted with the processes of the hiring organization to reach expected programming productivity levels. This paper presents a programming productivity framework developed as an outcome of a three-year-long industry study with small to medium-scale organizations using a usability evaluation and code recommendation tool, UMETRIX, to manage new hire programming productivity. We developed a programming productivity framework around this tool called "Utpada" Participating organizations expressed strong interest in relying on this programming productivity framework to assess the skill gap among new hires. It helped identify under-performers early and strategize their upskill plan per their business needs. The participating organizations have seen an 89% rise in quality code contributions by new hires during their probation period compared to traditional new hires'.
