Introduction. The cardiovascular system is an integral indicator of the body’s adaptive responses. Goal is a comparative analysis of the function of the cardiovascular system (CVS) in persons with different nutritional status, working on a rotational basis. Materials and methods. Two groups of healthy men were observed: those with normal nutritional status (NNS, n = 14) and those with increased body weight (IBW, n = 13). Working conditions were evaluated according to the degree of harmfulness and danger. The examination was carried out twice: before the start and after 2 months. after shift work. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate (HR) were measured. The Robinson index, endurance coefficient, vegetative Kerdo index, and circulatory efficiency coefficient were calculated. Results. Working conditions were characterized by work at night in an open area, irregularity of shifts, unregulated breaks for rest, the influence of noise and vibration. In the initial state, body weight in NNS individuals was 74.1±1.1 kg versus 91.8±2.7 kg (p=0.001) in IBW persons; HR – 60.0±2.3 versus 73.1±2.0 (p=0.001). After shift work, body weight decreased by 22.2% and 50.0% in persons in the comparison groups. Integral indicators indicated a more negative response of the cardiovascular system to working conditions in IBW people: less resistance to stress (eurance coefficient), lower performance (efficiency ratio of blood circulation), a higher level of hemodynamic load (Robinson index), in NNS people there were dominated by parasympathetic influences, 33.3% of IBW persons had sympathetic influences. Limitations. Healthy males working on a rotational basis, with a normal nutritional status and with overweight and obesity. Conclusion. Overweight and obesity negatively affect the cardiovascular system, reducing the functional reserves of the body. Under unfavourable working conditions, the changes are also more pronounced than in the group of people with a normal nutritional status.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the risk of vitamin and mineral deficiency of the body among contract servicemen while carrying out offshore operations in the temperate latitudes of the Far East.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The signs of vitamin and mineral deficiency among servicemen (n=27) were detected twice with the use of computer program Vita-test: before going to sea and in 2 months (return). There was the analysis of nutrient content in the sea rations №3. Before going to sea meals were provided at home. Statistics: After defining the test of raw data normality, significance of differences in dependent parametric samples was carried out by Student’s test, using computer program Statistica-6.1.RESULTS: An imbalanced diet led to increase in signs of vitamin and mineral deficiency. By criteria the risk of deficiency signs (initial and after return): on vitamins — average with the growth of 40,3% (р=0,0002), on minerals — low (3 points) and average (5,24 points, р=0,05).DISCUSSION: Vitamin diet correction is updated on sea trips. The present study has proven that as well as necessity to correct mineral deficiency. It showed the possibility of assessing the risk of micronutrient deficiency, using the technology of questionnaire and computer analysis.CONCLUSION: The approach of dynamic monitoring allowed to evaluate the index of studied nutrients, the risk of deficiency while carrying out offshore operations. This method allows to estimate individual and group dynamics of vitamin and mineral balance of a body while working at sea to make decisions on the prevention of nutrient deficiency.

Introduction. In recent years, the UTCI bioclimatic index has been used to assess the impact of climatic conditions on health. Goal is an assessment of the morbidity in persons of an organized team in the Arctic to determine the health risk when working in an open area. Materials and methods. According to the data of temperature, wind speed, relative air humidity on Dikson Island and Cape Chelyuskin the UTCI indices were calculated for 2009-2019. The health risk was assessed by the degrees of cold stress. We retrospectively estimated the prevalence of diseases, including primary morbidity, in 25-45 years persons over 2015-2020 by general and by classes of diseases. Results. In terms of severity, cold risk was characterized from severe to extreme stress. According to the prevalence of diseases, 76.5% of the total population accounted for 6 classes of diseases according to ICD-10 included respiratory, genitourinary, endocrine systems, nutrition disorders and metabolic disorders, musculoskeletal system and connective tissue, digestive organs, circulatory system. In the structure of morbidity according to primary appeal, 79.5% according to ICD-10 accounted for diseases of the respiratory system, genitourinary system, musculoskeletal system and connective tissue, injuries and ear diseases. During long-term observation in the prevalence of diseases, the incidence of injuries increased, according to primary data - diseases associated with mental disorders, damage to the nervous system, skin diseases and diseases of the subcutaneous tissue, injuries. Limitations. The results obtained require verification in age-standardized cohorts; in various gender groups and groups working in organized and unorganized teams, as well as in various internship groups. Conclusion. According to UTCI, health risk in the Arctic was assessed as cold stress including severe (3-4 months), very severe (2-3 months) and extreme (5-6 months). Morbidity for current classes of diseases indicates both the impact of the climate of the Arctic on the health of people in an organized team, and working conditions.

Inadequate ultraviolet insolation is one of the the key prerequisites for the pathogenesis of body's vitamin D insufficiency in the North. The study was aimed to assess the body's vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus sufficiency in the contract servicemen deployed in Arctic. The contract servicemen deployed on the Cape Chelyuskin and Dixon Island were surveyed (n = 51). The serum levels of 25(OH)D, the intermediate of the vitamin D conversion, along with the ionized calcium, total calcium, and inorganic phosphorus levels, were determined in June. Three degrees of the vitamin D sufficiency were revealed in the military, who had been deployed in Arctic for 5.9 ± 0.4 years: deficiency (in 29.4%), insufficiency (in 52.9%), and optimal levels (in 17.7%). However, the optimal levels revealed were close to the lower limit of normal range. Low ionized calcium levels were found in 29.4% of blood samples (15.5 ± 0.6 ng/mL). A total of 70.6% of samples that were within normal range were close to the lower limit of normal range based on Q25 (1.16 mmol/L) and were within the lower half of normal range (1.15–1.35 ng/mL) based on Q75 (1.22 mmol/L). The measured total calcium and inorganic phosphorus levels were close to the lower limits of reference ranges (2.29 ± 0.009 and 0.83 ± 0.006 mmol/L, respectively). In general, the reduced ionized calcium levels associated with vitamin D insufficiency were revealed, which were indicative of impaired calcium metabolism. The vitamin D deficiency results from the total calcium and inorganic phosphorus concentrations that are close to lower limits of reference ranges. Further negative changes in the body's vitamin D, phosphorus and calcium sufficiency should be expected during polar night. The study actualizes the year-round replenishement of the vitamin D and mineral deficiency in the military.

Introduction. The information content of the used bioclimatic indices of comfort/discomfort is different. Goal is an assessment of the significance of bioclimatic indices in characterizing the risk to public health in the territories of the climatic zones of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Materials and methods. In the subarctic and continental climates, the risk of body cooling and frostbite in exposed areas of the body was assessed. By temperature, wind speed and relative humidity for 2010-2019. The integral indicator of cooling conditions, wind-cold index, effective temperature and equivalent effective temperature were calculated. Results. According to the integral indicator of the conditions for cooling the body in the subarctic climate, the risk to health for 8, in the continental climate - 6-7 months, according to the wind-cold index - 6-7 and 4 months. In terms of effective temperature, there was no risk in both climates for 10 and 12 months. The equivalent effective temperature determined the risk of frostbite within 5 and 2 months. The integral indicator of the cooling conditions of the body shows the risk to human health in terms of the permissible degree of cooling and the rate of normalization of the thermal state; equivalent effective temperature - about the risk of cooling with insufficient thermal protection of the body, which determines the period of health risk according to the criterion up to 11-10 months in every climate zone. Limitations. Assessment of the impact of weather factors shows the need to use bioclimatic indices that most fully reflect the negative impact of a cold environment; the definition of the adequacy of the habitat is determined not only by the risk of frostbite, but also by the discomfort of the environment, which requires the use of means of warming the body. Two-parameter indices do not take into account the role of air humidity. Conclusion. The definition of cold indices depends on the climatic zone. The integral indicator of body cooling conditions is more informative in relation to the wind-cold index, which is preferable in practical use. Equivalent effective temperature determines the risk of frostbite and cooling of the body. Its use in climatic zones with a predominance of low temperatures is of social and hygienic significance.

There are single and multi parameter bioclimatic indices that enable assessment of the impact of weather and climatic conditions on health of a human being. This study aimed to comparatively assess health risks in the Arctic's open area using the bioclimatic indices. Relying on the data from the Central Siberian Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Krasnoyarsk) that describe the weather on Cape Chelyuskin in 2010–2022, we assessed the temperature, the integral indicator of body cooling conditions (IIBCC), the wind chill factor (WCF), the effective (ET) and the net effective temperature (NET), and the universal thermal climate index (UTCI). It was found that the WCF temperature can characterize the degree of frost risk as established by the IIBCC: the indicator has the critical frost risk period lasting November through April, and the respective risk level by WCF is "discomfort" (coolness) and "very cold", that by UTCI — "extreme stress", by ET — "caution — frostbite of exposed skin" (shorter), by NET — "threat of frostbite" (longer). The IIBCC and the UTCI show that the risk of cold injury in the conditions of Cape Chelyuskin is year-round: according to the IIBCC, its level changes between moderate (4–6 months) and critical (4–6 months), and according to UTCI, it may be very strong (4 months), and very strong and extreme (8 months). We have proven the advantages of UTCI over other integral indicators in assessment of the cold-related health risk and updated the basis for the hygienic requirements regulating practice of work in the open or in unheated enclosed spaces during the cold season.

Introduction: Extreme climate conditions have a negative impact on human health. Purpose: The study aimed to assess weather and climate-related risks to human health in different areas of the Krasnoyarsk Region by effective temperatures estimated during two long-term observation periods. Materials and methods: We analyzed ambient temperatures (average monthly and minimum), wind speed (average and maximum), and relative humidity in the subarctic and temperate continental zones estimated during the periods of determining climatic norms in 1961–1990 and 1991–2020. The health risk was assessed on the basis of effective temperatures. Results: In the subarctic zone, the wind strength (average and maximum values) decreased, the duration of such periods increased just like the ambient temperature while the relative humidity did not change. In temperate climates, all indicators have changed. In the subarctic zone, in the second observation period, frostbite was possible within 20–30 minutes during two months (versus 3 in the first). In the temperate climate, there was no such risk to humans. At the minimum temperature and maximum wind speed in the subarctic zone, the risk of frostbite is possible during 5 months (versus 6): after 10–15 minutes during two months and after 20–30 minutes – during three months of the year. In temperate climates, frostbite is possible within 20–30 minutes during two months (versus 3 in the first period). Conclusions: In the interval of establishing climatic norms (1991–2020), a significant increase in effective temperatures was determined: in the subarctic zone with the average wind strength and temperature in February–April and June, with maximum wind and minimum temperature – in March–July; in temperate climates, in April and June, respectively. The duration of periods of health risks posed by cold temperature exposures in the subarctic climate with average wind and temperature values equaled two months (I–II), with maximum wind speed and minimum temperatures – five months (XI–III); in the temperate climate, it was null and 2 (3) months (I, II, and XII), respectively.

Aim. Assess the health risk of a cold environment by bioclimatic indices characterizing weather and climatic conditions in the Arctic zone of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.Materials and methods. The mean monthly daily ambient temperature, wind speed and relative air humidity were determined. The body cooling conditions integral index (BCCII) and the wind-cold index (WCI) were calculated.Results and their discussion. Using the BCCII from 4 to 6 months a year at Cape Chelyuskin, the critical risk of frostbite in exposed areas of the body determined at Dixon Island from 4 to 5 months a year; in July and August, the indicator values reached the lower border of the “moderate risk”. Using the WCI, an uncomfortable cold environment was determined, respectively, 2 months and 4 months, a very cold — 3 months and 2 months, and an extremely cold — 3 months and 2 months.Conclusion. The advantage of using BCCII rather than WCI is shown, since on its basis the criteria for safe working conditions in an open area are determined. To interpret the value of “no risk” while using WCI, it is necessary to know the period of the year, in which the weather and climatic conditions are assessed as a cold environment.

Excessive formation of free radicals and active forms of nitrogen damages enzymes, proteins, membrane phospholipids, nucleic acids. The indicators of the antioxidant defense of the body of professional ice hockey players were evaluated under oxidative and nitrosive stresses of various degrees during the game season. In blood samples of hockey players (n = 39), taken after 2.5 months, 4 and 6 months. games were determined by glutathione (total, reduced, oxidized), nitric oxide. Oxidative stress was ranked according to the levels of peroxides, the state of the antioxidant system — according to decomposed exogenous peroxide. Cortisol and testosterone were evaluated. Total glutathione exceeded the reference standards. Reduced and oxidized glutathione (below 10 units) indicated a decrease in antioxidant protection within 4 months. Nitric oxide increased to 71.6–103.2 μM / L; nitrosive stress was detected in 38.5 %. Testosterone was within normal limits, cortisol was higher in 80.0–95.8 %. Average oxidative stress was detected in 20.7 %, high — in 4.0 %; the antioxidant capacity of the whey is medium to high. Total and reduced glutathione, peroxides, and decomposed peroxide confirmed the significant compensatory reserves of the body. The metabolism was dominated by catabolic processes. The periods of maximum growth of the level of cortisol (2.5–4 months of games) corresponded to the minimum levels of the body’s antioxidant defense; individuals with signs of nitrosive stress were registered. This has proven to be a health risk of exercise in athletes. The condition for the prevention of dysadaptation shifts is the optimal level of stress at the stages of the playing season, as well as ensuring the high-quality composition of the diet. The average for 2009–2019 was determined. monthly indicators of temperature, speed of movement and air humidity in the open area according to the data of meteorological stations at Cape Chelyuskin and Dikson Island. Monthly wind-cold indices (VHI) and equivalent effective temperatures (EET) were calculated, and the assessment of the risk of cold influences on humans was compared. In the Arctic zone of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, thermal discomfort has been established due to low air temperatures, wind strength (from weak to moderate), and humidity (moderate to highly humid) air. Bioclimatic conditions differed in the lower temperatures for 6 months at Cape Chelyuskin and the strength of the wind (1 month); on about. Dixon — higher humidity for 7 months. and wind strength for 2 months. On about Dikson compared with M. Chelyuskin identified less uncomfortable conditions. Average monthly daily temperatures in the open area prove the presence of a cold environment. This suggests that VHI indicates the presence of a potential (4 months) and probable cold health risk (8 months). EET showed the presence of year-round cold risk. At Cape Chelyuskin, the habitat was assessed as «cold» (4 months) and «threat of frostbite» (8 months). Dixon — as «moderately cold» (3 months), «cold» (1 month), «very cold» (1 month) and «threat of frostbite» (7 months).

Introduction. It is relevant to determine periods of adaptation of local and non-resident students coming from other Russian regions to learning conditions. The objective of our study was to measure duration of cadets’ adaptation to the learning environment as assessed by the incidence of respiratory diseases in view of synergistic effects of health risk factors in the Kaliningrad enclave. Materials and methods. We conducted a retrospective analysis of the incidence of respiratory diseases in cadets of two military universities (n = 3,381, n = 2,013) by cohorts (local and non-resident students) for five academic years in general and by year. Results. The proportion of respiratory diseases in university cadets was as high as 70.9 ± 2.0 and 52.1 ± 1.1 % in Universities 1 and 2, respectively. The share of respiratory diseases in the first and fifth-year students was 72.3 and 59.9 % in University 1,and 60.3 and 38.1 % in University 2, respectively. The respiratory disease incidence in non-resident cadets was 1.8 and 1.2 times higher than that in locals: 1,102.6 ± 6.2 versus 617.7 ± 24.5 ‰ and 477.6 ± 14.1 versus 388.2 ± 16.1 ‰ (p = 0.001) in Universities 1 and 2, respectively. We found differences in the rates of acute sinusitis, acute tonsillitis, upper respiratory tract infections and influenza, community-acquired pneumonia, and lower respiratory tract infections between local and non-resident cadets. In the second university, differences in the incidence of acute sinusitis and upper respiratory tract infections were still observed in third-year students while in the first university they were still pronounced in cadets during the fourth year of study. We suppose that they might be attributed to learning conditions, ratios of local to non-resident cadets, differences in living conditions and nutrition between the students. Conclusion. Duration of the period of adaptation of military university cadets to conditions of learning is influenced by a synergistic effect of adverse environmental factors. Adaptation of non-resident cadets lasts longer due to acclimatization to weather and climate conditions of the enclave. The incidence of respiratory diseases proves the differences in learning conditions between the universities.
