The association between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status and readmissions and death outcomes in patients with established heart failure (HF) remains unclear. We conducted a systematic search of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science up to March 1st, 2023, for cohort studies of adult patients (≥18 years) diagnosed with HF and recorded HIV status at baseline. Our analysis included 7 studies with 10,328 HF patients living with HIV and 48,757 HF patients without HIV. Compared to HF patients without HIV, those with HIV had a higher risk of all-cause deaths (HR: 1.20, 95% CI: 1.15–1.25). HIV infection was also associated with increased risks of HF-associated readmission (HR: 1.34, 95% CI: 1.03–1.75) and all-cause readmission (HR: 1.27, 95% CI: 1.10–1.46). Our study highlights the independent association between HIV and poor HF outcomes, emphasizing the need for improved management in individuals living with HIV.

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
The recent muon $g-2$ result from Fermilab combined with the Brookhaven result, strongly points to new physics beyond the Standard Model which can be well described by the electroweak sector of supersymmetry if the masses of the sleptons and some of the electroweak gauginos are in the few hundred GeV range. However, the Higgs boson mass measurement at 125 GeV indicates a mass scale for squarks which lies in the few TeV region indicating a split mass spectrum between squarks and sleptons. This apparent puzzle is resolved in a natural way in gluino-driven radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry where radiative breaking is driven by a large gluino mass and the gluino color interactions lead to a large splitting between the squarks and the sleptons. We show that an analysis without prejudice using an artificial neural network also leads to the gluino-driven radiative breaking. We use a set of benchmarks and a deep neural network analysis to test the model for the discovery of light sleptons and sneutrinos at HL-LHC and HE-LHC., Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures, 6 tables (conference proceedings, 10th ICNFP 2021, Crete, Greece). arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2107.06021

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
\noindent Model building in $\mathsf{SO(10)}$, which is the leading grand unification framework, often involves large Higgs representations and their couplings. Explicit calculations of such couplings is a multi-step process that involves laborious calculations that are time-consuming and error-prone, an issue which only grows as the complexity of the coupling increases. Therefore, there exists an opportunity to leverage the abilities of computer software in order to algorithmically perform these calculations on-demand. This paper outlines the details of such a software, implemented in C++ using in-built libraries. The software is capable of accepting invariant couplings involving an arbitrary number of $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ Higgs tensors, each having up to 5 indices. The output is then produced in \LaTeX, so that it is universally readable and sufficiently expressive. Through the use of this software, $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ coupling analysis can be performed in a way that minimizes calculation time, eliminates errors, and allows for experimentation with couplings that have not been computed before in the literature. Furthermore, this software can be expanded in the future to account for similar Higgs-Spinor coupling analysis, or extended to include further $\mathsf{SO(N)}$ invariant couplings., Comment: 37 pages

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
We assess the future directions for the search for supersymmetry at the Large Hadron Collider in view of the new precision results on the muon anomaly by the Fermilab Collaboration. The existence of a deviation of size 4.1$\sigma$ from the Standard Model prediction points to light sleptons and light weakinos in the mass range of few hundred GeV while the observation of the Higgs boson mass at $\sim 125$ GeV points to squark masses lying in the few TeV range. Thus a split sparticle spectrum is indicated. We discuss the possibility of such a split sparticle spectrum in the supergravity unified model and show that a splitting of the sfermion spectrum into light sleptons and heavy squarks naturally arises within radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry driven by heavy gluinos ($\tilde g$SUGRA). We discuss the possible avenues for the discovery of supersymmetry at the LHC within this framework under the further constraint of the recent muon anomaly result from the Fermilab Collaboration. We show that the most likely candidates for early discovery of a sparticle at the LHC are the chargino, the stau, the smuon and the selectron. We present a set of benchmarks and discuss future directions for further work. Specifically, we point to the most promising channels for SUSY discovery and estimate the integrated luminosity needed for the discovery of these benchmarks at the High Luminosity LHC and also at the High Energy LHC., Comment: Contribution to Snowmass

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
We investigate the Yukawa coupling unification for the third generation in a class of $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ unified models which are consistent with the 4.2 $\sigma$ deviation from the standard model of the muon $g-2$ seen by the Fermilab experiment E989. A recent analysis in supergravity grand unified models shows that such an effect can arise from supersymmetric loops correction. Using a neural network, we further analyze regions of the parameter space where Yukawa coupling unification consistent with the Fermilab result can appear. In the analysis we take into account the contributions to Yukawas from the cubic and the quartic interactions. We test the model at the high luminosity and high energy LHC and estimate the integrated luminosities needed to discover sparticles predicted by the model., Comment: 26 pages, 5 figures, 9 tables

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
We consider a class of unified models based on the gauge group $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ which with appropriate choice of Higgs representations generate in a natural way a pair of light Higgs doublets needed to accomplish electroweak symmetry breaking. In this class of models higher dimensional operators of the form matter-matter-Higgs-Higgs in the superpotential after spontaneous breaking of the GUT symmetry generate contributions to Yukawa couplings which are comparable to the ones from cubic interactions. Specifically we consider an $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ model with a sector consisting of $\mathsf{126+\overline{126} + 210}$ of heavy Higgs which breaks the GUT symmetry down to the standard model gauge group and a sector consisting of $2\times \mathsf{10+120}$ of light Higgs fields. In this model we compute the corrections from the quartic interactions to the Yukawa couplings for the top and the bottom quarks and for the tau lepton. It is then shown that inclusion of these corrections to the GUT scale Yukawas allows for consistency of the top, bottom and tau masses with experiment for low $\tan\beta$ with a value as low as $\tan\beta$ of 5$-$10. We compute the sparticle spectrum for a set of benchmarks and find that satisfaction of the relic density is achieved via a compressed spectrum and coannihilation and three sets of coannihilations appear: chargino-neutralino, stop-neutralino and stau-neutralino. We investigate the chargino-neutralino coannihilation in detail for the possibility of observation of the light chargino at the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and at the high energy LHC (HE-LHC) which is a possible future 27 TeV hadron collider. It is shown that all benchmark models but one can be discovered at HL-LHC and all would be discoverable at HE-LHC. The ones discoverable at both machines require a much shorter time scale and a lower integrated luminosity at HE-LHC., Comment: 27 pages, 5 figures and 9 tables

- Abstract
Myocarditis is a highly morbid complication of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) use that remains inadequately characterized. The QRS duration and the QTc interval are standardized electrocardiographic measures that are prolonged in other cardiac conditions; however, there are no data on their utility in ICI myocarditis. From an international registry, ECG parameters were compared between 140 myocarditis cases and 179 controls across multiple time points (pre-ICI, on ICI prior to myocarditis, and at the time of myocarditis). The association between ECG values and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) was also tested. Both the QRS duration and QTc interval were similar between cases and controls prior to myocarditis. When compared with controls on an ICI (93±19 ms) or to baseline prior to myocarditis (97±19 ms), the QRS duration prolonged with myocarditis (110±22 ms, p

- Abstract
Myocarditis is a potentially fatal complication of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Sparse data exist on the use of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in ICI-associated myocarditis. In this study, the CMR characteristics and the association between CMR features and cardiovascular events among patients with ICI-associated myocarditis are presented. From an international registry of patients with ICI-associated myocarditis, clinical, CMR, and histopathological findings were collected. Major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) were a composite of cardiovascular death, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and complete heart block. In 103 patients diagnosed with ICI-associated myocarditis who had a CMR, the mean left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was 50%, and 61% of patients had an LVEF ≥50%. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) was present in 48% overall, 55% of the reduced EF, and 43% of the preserved EF cohort. Elevated T2-weighted short tau inversion recovery (STIR) was present in 28% overall, 30% of the reduced EF, and 26% of the preserved EF cohort. The presence of LGE increased from 21.6%, when CMR was performed within 4 days of admission to 72.0% when CMR was performed on Day 4 of admission or later. Fifty-six patients had cardiac pathology. Late gadolinium enhancement was present in 35% of patients with pathological fibrosis and elevated T2-weighted STIR signal was present in 26% with a lymphocytic infiltration. Forty-one patients (40%) had MACE over a follow-up time of 5 months. The presence of LGE, LGE pattern, or elevated T2-weighted STIR were not associated with MACE.These data suggest caution in reliance on LGE or a qualitative T2-STIR-only approach for the exclusion of ICI-associated myocarditis.

The massive technological progress and wide use of Information Technology have increased cyber security threats. Social engineering attacks are a common type of cyber security threat that faces everyone. It uses several methods, such as pretexting using Artificial Intelligence or phishing, to attack users’ valuable data due to human error. The risks of data attacks have increased, especially in the institutions sector, as the use of digital technologies become easier around the users. This paper investigates the awareness of social engineering attacks and cyber-security threats at the University of Sulaimani. The University of Sulaimani, based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, has a large number of students and staff; due to the increase of social engineering threats and lack of knowledge of cyber securities, the internet users at the University of Sulaimani put their confidential data at risk. This research has employed a quantitative approach, using a self-report questionnaire to gather primary data from participants. The online survey has been launched at the University of Sulaimani to provide a measurement of social engineering attacks on students and staff. The results show a variety of factors impacting participants’ awareness of their data. The objective of this study is to evaluate the participants’ knowledge of cyber-security and analyze their awareness of social engineering data breaches. One implication of this study is that the participants are inexperienced with network security systems. The attendees also emphasized the significance of SE training and ongoing instruction in order to protect against threats.

Supersymmetry and more specifically supergravity grand unification allow one to extrapolate physics from the electroweak scale up to the grand unification scale consistent with electroweak data. Here we give a brief overview of their current status and show that the case for supersymmetry is stronger as a result of the Higgs boson discovery with a mass measurement at $\sim 125$ GeV consistent with the supergravity grand unification prediction that the Higgs boson mass lie below 130 GeV. Thus the discovery of the Higgs boson and the measurement of its mass provide a further impetus for the search for sparticles to continue at the current and future colliders., Comment: 25 pages

- Abstract
The remarkable properties of graphene oxide, a shining dynamo, opened new possibilities for delivering the drug. The present work aims to fabricate a graphene-based porous hydrogel system that fades its side effects and encourages its utilization as a drug carrier. Graphene oxide was impregnated in the polymeric matrix for gastro-retentive drug delivery. Porogen was added to create a superporous structure. The extrusion-dripping technique is used to fabricate low density, super porous, and floating hydrogel beads, which were considered a practical approach to target the drug in a controlled and sustained manner in the stomach. The fabricated graphene oxide impregnates superporous beads were characterized by physicochemical analysis, morphological parameters, PXRD, swelling study, drug-release pattern, and in-vitro floating ability. The homogenous nature of fabricated samples was analyzed by weight and size variation. Micrometric properties were estimated to calculate the density and flow ability of superporous beads. The stability and shelf life of prepared hydrogels were performed by accelerated stability analysis according to ICH guidelines. Doxorubicin was chosen as a model anticancer drug. The pi–pi stacking technique is responsible for a considerable loading of the drug onto graphene oxide (GO). However, the successful preparation of low-density graphene oxide impregnates superporous hydrogel beads shows excellent floating ability, thus making it a promising candidate for stomach targeting. HIGHLIGHTS: The present work aims to fabricate a graphene-based porous hydrogel system that fades its side effects and encourages its utilization as a drug carrier. Graphene oxide was impregnated in the polymeric matrix for gastro-retentive drug delivery. Porogen was added to create a super porous structure. Doxorubicin was chosen as a model anticancer drug. The extrusion-dripping technique is used to fabricate low density, super porous, and floating hydrogel beads which were considered a practical approach to target the drug in a controlled and sustained manner in the stomach. We aimed to introduce a new concept of using hydrophilic polymers as fundamental excipients in the development of superporous hydrogel beads that would be promising candidate for stomach targeting and accelerate the drug release. These systems have potential advantages over previously reported carrier systems in terms of high drug loading, stability and the percentage of drug release was controlled at cancerous pH of about 70.34%. The in vitro and in vivo floating ability confirmed the beads float well in a gastric environment 6hrs. By integrating targeted modules of hydrophilic polymers, a novel synthesis approach enables the fabrication of low-density graphene oxide impregnates superporous hydrogel beads show excellent floating ability, thus making it a promising candidate for stomach targeting. Pediatrics ,RJ1-570 - Abstract
With medical advancements and improvements in medical technology, an increasing number of children with chronic conditions survive into adulthood. There is accordant growing interest toward supporting adolescents throughout the transition from paediatric to adult care. However, there is currently a paucity of research focusing on the role that these patients’ parents should play during and after the transition to adult care and if maintained parental involvement is beneficial during this transition within a North American context. Accordingly, this scoping review utilized Arksey and O’Malley’s five-step framework to consider parental roles during chronically ill children’s transition to adult care. APA PsycInfo, CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE, ProQuest, and Scopus were searched alongside advanced Google searches. Thematic content analysis was conducted on 30 articles meeting the following inclusion criteria: (1) published in English between 2010 and 2022, (2) conducted in Canada or the United States, (3) considered adolescents with chronic conditions transitioning to adult care, (4) family being noted in the title or abstract, and (5) patient populations of study not being defined by delays in cognitive development, nor mental illness. Three themes emerged from the literature: the impacts of maintaining parental involvement during transition to adult care for patients, parents experiencing feeling loss of stability and support surrounding the transition of their child’s care, and significant nonmedical life events occurring for youths at the time of transition of care. Parents assuming supportive roles which change alongside their maturing child’s needs were reported as being beneficial to young peoples’ transition processes, while parents who hover over or micromanage their children during this time were found to hinder successful transitions. Ultimately, the majority of reviewed articles emphasized maintained parental involvement as having a net positive impact on adolescents’ transitions to adult care. As such, practice and policies should be structured to engage parents throughout the transition process to best support their chronically ill children during this time of change.

ImportanceThe mechanisms underlying the association between chronic stress and higher mortality among individuals with cancer remain incompletely understood.ObjectiveTo test the hypotheses that among individuals with active head and neck cancer, that higher stress-associated neural activity (ie. metabolic amygdalar activity [AmygA]) at cancer staging associates with survival.DesignRetrospective cohort study.SettingAcademic Medical Center (Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston).Participants240 patients with head and neck cancer (HNCA) who underwent 18F-FDG-PET/CT imaging as part of initial cancer staging.Measurements18F-FDG uptake in the amygdala was determined by placing circular regions of interest in the right and left amygdalae and measuring the mean tracer accumulation (i.e., standardized uptake value [SUV]) in each region of interest. Amygdalar uptake was corrected for background cerebral activity (mean temporal lobe SUV).ResultsAmong individuals with HNCA (age 59±13 years; 30% female), 67 died over a median follow-up period of 3 years (IQR: 1.7-5.1). AmygA associated with heightened bone marrow activity, leukocytosis, and C-reactive protein (PConclusions and relevanceAmygA, quantified on routine 18F-FDG-PET/CT images obtained at cancer staging, independently and robustly predicts mortality and cancer progression among patients with HNCA. Future studies should test whether strategies that attenuate AmygA (or its downstream biological consequences) may improve cancer survival.
