Cladding processes are used to produce better interface bonding between surfaces of two metals. For thick coating layer, Tungsten inert gas (TIG) is an alternative way of cladding and due to its low setup/running cost it is a low cost process. By using different alloying elements as cladding material, researchers had investigated TIG cladding process on various ferrous and non ferrous materials. The produced coatings showed noteworthy improvement in the hardness and wear resistance property than the parent material. However in TIG cladding process higher dilution rate is a common factor. Using a newly established surface modification technique known as TIG cladding and laser remelting, it may be able to solve the aforementioned issue. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
