Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) have been considered potential candidates for various therapeutic applications. For safe clinical use, it requires in vitro and in vivo studies to determine its biodistribution, toxicological profile, and biocompatibility. Another important factor is the removal of iron throughout the degradation of the nanoparticles since the excess of iron induces toxicity. This study characterized magnetite-based SPIONs coated with stabilizing polymer PVA by XRD, TEM, FTIR, and magnetometry. Posteriorly, the SPIONs were injected intraperitoneally into Balb-C mice to perform two acute assays with the following goals: (1) magnetic detection of SPIONs in tissues after exposure to different doses, (2) histopathology and detection in tissues after exposure to a single dose of SPIONs, and (3) MTT assay with HepG2 cells. Atualmente, a sociedade vem enfrentando grandes problemas de cunho ambiental, em especial a problemática do lixo. A Educação Ambiental (EA) tem seu papel de relevância na mitigação desses problemas. Neste trabalho se investigou as concepções e posturas de estudantes do Curso Técnico em Meio Ambiente. Através da análise de questionários semiestruturados foi possível diferenciar os alunos quanto à visão “crítica” e “ingênua” da EA, e sua postura de consumo entre “consumistas” e “ponderados”. Observou-se que a 1ª série apresentou um terço de estudantes com visão crítica. Nas 2ª e 3ª séries esse percentual passou a ser de 50%. Quanto à postura de consumo, a 3ª série apresentou o maior percentual de “consumistas” entre as três séries. Assim, verificou-se que a EA como disciplina não foi capaz de modificar hábitos de consumo desses estudantes à longo prazo, levando-nos à reflexão de que novas estratégias precisam ser utilizadas.
