In this paper two modern controllers are presented. These controllers should eliminate disturbance effect, handle process variations and process uncertainties. First controller that is considered is conventional Proportional - Integral (PI) controller and second one is Fractional PI (FOPI) controller. After testing both controllers on a series of simulations, performance of both control algorithms were applied on a real 3D crane system. Owing to their excellent exploitation properties, induction motors are of key importance to industrial systems. Therefore, early fault detection in induction motors has recently received increasing attention, encompassing a number of modern technologies such as Internet of Things and Cloud Computing. In this paper, an example of fault detection system will be presented. The system detects a broken rotor bar of induction motors, employing conventional vibration analysis techniques and the Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network enhanced by the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

The main question proposed in this research is whether different types of organizational approaches could help in shortening the response time needed to analyze advanced design solutions in accordance with the changed circumstances. Approaches that we are considering have been adapted from rapidly changing disciplines—such as the IT industry, and software engineering. This paradigm allows for architectural programming to obtain different positions in the timeline of project planning and realization. We proposed a novel methodology of architectural design and project management as an instrument inspired by the Agile Manifesto and some of its instantiations, most notably by the Scrum framework. This research shows that application of the proposed framework significantly shortens the design process and facilitates the involvement of a larger number of authors within the same project team. This study focused on the specific case of architectural competitions. This paper presents a new approach to architecture and urban design that results in an increase of the energy efficiency of buildings set close to each other, which is set as the optimization problem. The main goal is to maximize the sunlight impact on objects, in a way to minimize inter-object shading on each building. The problem is solved by the PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm and its modifications, as well as the application of PSO algorithm with niches, which makes it possible to find a large number of local optima. It turned out that the PSO algorithm with niches is especially suitable for solving the described problems. The proposed methodology is illustrated by a few examples.

Tracking sinusoidal references with high precision and rejection of sinusoidal disturbances is a challenging task in the motion control practice. In order to deal with this control problem, a new resonant extended state observer is proposed and introduced in the active disturbance rejection control concept. The frequency analysis shows that an appropriate selection of resonant frequency provides complete rejection of sinusoidal disturbance and ideal reference tracking in the steady state. Further, it is shown that the proposed structure achieves better performances than generalised extended state observer based system in the wide frequency range. Moreover, in order to improve the system performances in transient period, the optimal parameter tuning method is developed. The results demonstrate that the optimally tuned system achieves better performances than the conventionally tuned one by about 25%, with the same robustness and noise sensitivity. The experimental validation of the new controller is carried out on the laboratory model of the didactic three-axis radar platform in fast sinusoidal reference tracking mode. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper analyses several tools and methods for the comprehensive and efficient development of power electronics control systems. Hardware-in-the-loop technology enhances the possibility for compromising two opposing demands: the requirement for exhaustive testing process and the requirement for as short time to market as possible. The procedure is presented through the development and testing of a complex control algorithm connecting a d permanent magnet synchronous generator to the electrical grid. Hardware-in-the-loop emulation is poised to become unsurpassed design tool for development, testing, and optimization of real-time control algorithms for grid connected power electronics converters for distributed generation, active filters and smart grid applications. It is strongly important to examine and test how grid connected converters perform under different operating conditions including grid disturbances and faults. In that sense, converter's controller is a key component responsible for ensuring safe and high-performance operation. This paper demonstrates an example how ultra-low latency and high fidelity hardware-inthe- loop emulator is used to easily, rapidly and exhaustively test and validate standard control strategy for grid connected power electronics converters, without need for expensive hardware prototyping and laboratory test equipment.
