Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health issue, affecting 13.4% of the population. Many CKD patients progress to end-stage renal disease, necessitating lifelong renal replacement therapy like dialysis. Hemodialysis significantly alters patients’ lifestyles, causing social isolation, work–life changes, financial strain, and family role shifts. These challenges lead to fatigue, pain, depression, and sleep disturbances, severely impacting patients’ quality of life and daily activities. Among these symptoms, fatigue is one of the most common and disruptive. Aim: To assess the effectiveness of video-assisted teaching on knowledge regarding the management of post-hemodialysis fatigue among patients attending hemodialysis. Material and Method: This study was based on a quantitative research approach and one group pretest and post-test research design. This study includes 200 patients attending hemodialysis from Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital Wardha with the nonprobability convenience sampling technique. A questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of the patient. Result: After the educational program, the knowledge score improved significantly. The poor category decreased to 50 participants (25.0%), while the average category dropped to participants (5.0%). The good category increased substantially to 110 participants (55.5%), and 30 participants (15.0%) achieved an excellent level of knowledge. Conclusion: Results suggest that after applying intervention, the knowledge regarding post-hemodialysis fatigue is increased in patients attending hemodialysis.

Background: This study aimed to assess the correlation between preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings and intraoperative observations in patients diagnosed with anorectal fistulas and evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of MRI in identifying fistulous tracts, internal openings, and associated complications. Materials and Methods: A prospective study was conducted at Pt. JNM Medical College, Raipur, from April 2018 to September 2019, involving 30 patients diagnosed with anorectal fistulas. Preoperative MRI scans were performed for all patients, and findings were compared with intraoperative observations. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of MRI in detecting internal openings, fistulous tracts, and abscesses were calculated. Results: Among the 30 patients, 26 were male (86.66%) and 4 were female (13.33%), with a mean age of 35.6 years. MRI identified 63.33% of cases as simple fistulas and 36.66% as complex fistulas. The internal opening was most commonly located at the 6 o’clock position (26.66%). MRI findings correlated with intraoperative findings in 86.66% of cases. The sensitivity of MRI was 100% for detecting simple tracts and 80% for detecting abscesses, with discrepancies observed in 13.33% of cases. Conclusion: MRI proved to be a valuable tool in the preoperative evaluation of anorectal fistulas, demonstrating high accuracy in identifying fistulous tracts and associated complications. However, in some cases, intraoperative findings differed from MRI, emphasizing the need for thorough surgical exploration.

Rotavirus (RV) accounts for 19.11% of global diarrheal deaths. Though GAVI assisted vaccine introduction has curtailed RV induced mortality, factors like RV strain diversity, differential infantile gut microbiome, malnutrition, interference from maternal antibodies and other administered vaccines, etc. often compromise vaccine efficacy. Herein emerges the need of antivirals which can be administered adjunct to vaccination to curb the socio-economic burden stemming from frequent RV infection. Cognisance of pathogen-perturbed host cellular physiology has revolutionized translational research and aided precision-based therapy, particularly for viruses, with no metabolic machinery of their own. To date there has been limited exploration of the host cellular metabolome in context of RV infection. In this study, we explored the endometabolomic landscape of human intestinal epithelial cells (HT-29) on RV-SA11 infection. Significant alteration of host cellular metabolic pathways like the nucleotide biosynthesis pathway, alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolism pathway, the host citric acid cycle was observed in RV-SA11 infection scenario. Detailed study further revealed that RV replication is exclusively dependent on glutamine metabolism for their propagation in host cells. Glutamine metabolism generates glutamate, aspartate, and asparagine which facilitates virus infection. Abrogation of aspartate biogenesis from glutamine by use of Aminooxyacetic acid (AOAA), significantly curbed RV-SA11 infection in-vitro and in-vivo. Overall, the study improves our understanding of host-rotavirus interactome and recognizes host glutamine metabolism pathway as a suitable target for effective therapeutic intervention against RV infection.

Prenatal supplements are commonly used to support maternal health and fetal development during pregnancy. However, there are concerns regarding their efficacy and safety. This review article provides a critical evaluation of prenatal supplements, including their types, benefits, criticisms, factors affecting their efficacy, and popular brands. It also offers recommendations for their use and identifies future research directions. Our analysis suggests that while prenatal supplements can offer important benefits, including reduced risk of birth defects and improved fetal growth and development, there are also concerns regarding their regulation, dosages, and potential harm to the mother and fetus. Pregnant women should carefully evaluate the ingredients, dosages, efficacy, and safety of prenatal supplements with the guidance of their healthcare provider. Future research should focus on standardizing dosages and regulation of prenatal supplements to ensure consistent quality, safety, and efficacy.

Monkeypox is a zoonotic infection that causes painful or pruritic dermatologic lesions on the face, trunk, limbs, genitals, and mucosal surfaces. Monkeypox cases increased exponentially in 2022, prompting the World Health Organization and the United States Department of Health and Human Services to proclaim it a public health emergency. The role of community health nurses towards monkeypox prevention and control in transmission. We searched various databases like World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Nurses Association (ANA), EMBASE, Web of Science, CINAHL, PubMed, and Cochrane databases were comprehensively searched. This review article focuses on the monkeypox pandemic, the transmission of the infection, vaccination and the role of healthcare workers. The healthcare role is crucial in preventing and promoting the monkeypox pandemic. These results can be consolidated when policymakers plan to increase the implementation of the healthcare worker in the face of monkeypox and future global threats.

Metal oxides have gained a growing interest in the field of material science owing to their size and shape dependent physiochemical properties. Tin oxide (SnO2) is considered as a multifaceted material with its widespread applications such as oxidation catalysis, energy harvesting, bio-imaging, gas sensing, storage devices and many more. This study reports the synthesis of SnO2 nanoparticles derived via sol-gel route. To observe the effect of thermal treatment on the grown material, the samples were subjected to calcination at different temperature ranging from 350 °C to 550 °Cfor about 4 hrs. The structural, compositional, morphological and optical properties of Tin oxide were studied by XRD, EDAX, FESEM, and UV-Vis spectroscopic analysis respectively. The XRD pattern consists only SnO2 peaks with preferred orientation along (110) plane. The crystallite size increases with higher calcination temperature and is found in the range of 3-15 nm. All the peaks corresponding to SnO2 matches with the standard data indicating the growth of good quality single phase material. Compositional data reveals that that grown material manifested in required stoichiometric ratio of SnO. Scanning electron micrographs show uniform growth of SnO2 nanoparticles with particle size ranging from 10-20 nm. The energy band gap of the SnO2 calculated by optical studies was 3.1eV and 3.0 eV for 450 °Cand 550 °Crespectively. The calculated band gap lies in the visible region of the solar spectrum which could be beneficial for the enhanced photocatalytic performance of the SnO2 nanoparticles.

The presence of various hazardous toxins such as Phenols, phthalates, pesticides, dyes, heavy metals, pharmaceutical waste, etc, is continuously increasing into the water bodies from different agricultural, industrial and domestic practices, which have brought the toxicity level to an alarming height. Often, these toxic compounds are quite stable in nature and the removal or degradation of these compounds is quite challenging, which further poses a significant threat to the environment. When it comes to enhance the efficiency of water purification and decontamination process, SnO2 nanoparticles offer great potential owing to their low concentration and large surface area. Over the past few years, SnO2 nanoparticles as a photocatalyst has garnered huge interest from the researcher community towards the photo-degradation of toxic pollutants present in the water bodies. Among various metal oxides, particularly SnO2 has been emerged as the most versatile material for doping of different transition metals due to its plethora of applications such as photocatalysis, energy harnessing, sensors, solar cells and optoelectronic devices. The pure and doped SnO2 has prominent significance due to its phenomenal catalytic and physicochemical properties such as chemically stable, inexpensive and non-toxic. This review explores and summarizes the progress of first and second transition metal series doping in SnO2 for its coherent application towards the degradation of water pollutants. We have emphasized the effect of different transition metal dopants used in the growth of SnO2 nanoparticles on the basis of their synthesis technique, source of irradiation used, nature of contaminations removed and obtained photodegradation efficiency.

Background: Since its inception in late 2019, SARS-CoV-2 has been evolving continuously by procuring mutations, leading to emergence of numerous variants, causing second wave of pandemic in many countries including India in 2021. To control this pandemic continuous mutational surveillance and genomic epidemiology of circulating strains is very important to unveil the emergence of the novel variants and also monitor the evolution of existing variants. Methods: SARS-CoV-2 sequences were retrieved from GISAID database. Sequence alignment was performed with MAFT version 7. Phylogenetic tree was constructed by using MEGA (version X) and UShER. Results: In this study, we reported the emergence of a novel variant of SARS-CoV-2, named B.1.1.526, in India. This novel variant encompasses 129 SARS-CoV-2 strains which are characterized by the presence of 11 coexisting mutations including D614G, P681H, and V1230L in S glycoprotein. Out of these 129 sequences, 27 sequences also harbored E484K mutation in S glycoprotein. Phylogenetic analysis revealed strains of this novel variant emerged from the GR clade and formed a new cluster. Geographical distribution showed, out of 129 sequences, 126 were found in seven different states of India. Rest 3 sequences were observed in USA. Temporal analysis revealed this novel variant was first collected from Kolkata district of West Bengal, India. Conclusions: The D614G, P618H and E484K mutations have previously been reported to favor increased transmissibility, enhanced infectivity, and immune invasion, respectively. The transmembrane domain (TM) of S2 subunit anchors S glycoprotein to the virus envelope. The V1230L mutation, present within the TM domain of S glycoprotein, might strengthen the interaction of S glycoprotein with the viral envelope and increase S glycoprotein deposition to the virion, resulting in more infectious virion. Therefore, the new variant having D614G, P618H, V1230L, and E484K may have higher infectivity, transmissibility, and immune invasion characteristics, and thus need to be monitored closely.

Image classification of satellite imagery interprets the thematic map to represent the spatial distribution of earth features. There are so many applications of Remote sensing image classification such as Resource utilization and environmental impact analysis etc. The overall process result depends on two main aspects (1) Every object have distinctive signature and feature of interest (2) The process can distinguish these features separately. Image classification is broadly classified in two ways (1) Hard classification and (2) Soft classification. In hard classification, pixels are classified in to a single class only and in soft classification, pixels can belong to one or more classes according to their membership values. In hard classification, data may lost because of the restriction being in a single class only. But in soft classification, this problem is resolved. But after resolving the problem, there is a need of accuracy assessment. There are many commercial software available in market but they are not providing accuracy assessment for soft classified images. So, in this study, a tool is designed to overcome such a problem. A new Schiff base of S-benzyldithiocarbazate has been synthesized by the 1:1 condensation of 4-NN biscynodiethylaminobenzaldehyde and S-benzyldithiocarbazate. The structure of Schiff base was determined by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopic data. The synthesized Schiff base molecule has been subjected to theoretical studies by using semi-empirical AM1 and PM3 quantum-chemical methods. The molecular geometry, vibration frequencies, HOMO–LUMO energy gap, molecular hardness (η), ionization energy (IE), electron affinity (EA), total energy and dipole moment were analyzed. The experimental results of the compound have been compared with theoretical results and it is found that the experimental data show good agreement with calculated values. Fermentation processes in foods often lead to changes in nutritional and biochemical quality relative to the starting ingredients. Fermented foods comprise very complex ecosystems consisting of enzymes from raw ingredients that interact with the fermenting microorganisms’ metabolic activities. Fermenting microorganisms provide a unique approach towards food stability via physical and biochemical changes in fermented foods. These fermented foods can benefit consumers compared to simple foods in terms of antioxidants, production of peptides, organoleptic and probiotic properties, and antimicrobial activity. It also helps in the levels of anti-nutrients and toxins level. The quality and quantity of microbial communities in fermented foods vary based on the manufacturing process and storage conditions/durability. This review contributes to current research on biochemical changes during the fermentation of foods. The focus will be on the changes in the biochemical compounds that determine the characteristics of final fermented food products from original food resources.

Purpose: The association between ophthalmic anomalies and headache still needs to be investigated largely. We aimed to look for it in the context of a rural community hospital of Nepal. Methods: Hundred patients with headache were investigated for ophthalmic anomalies after the probable systemic association was ruled out. All the patients were first examined by general physician, otorhinolaryngologist and psychiatrist. Ocular evaluation consisted of detailed refractive, binocularity assessment and anterior and posterior segment examination. Data were analyzed using t-test, chi-square test, multiple logistic regression, odds ratio as well as frequency and percentages. Results: Female above the age of 17 suffered more (p 0.05). In students and housewives frontal headache was more common (OR 3.467, 0.848–14.174; 95% CI and 1.167, 0.303–4.499; 95% CI). Refractive error was associated with frontal headache (OR, 1.429, 1.130–0.806, 95% CI). On presentation, 88% had visual acuity 6/9 or better. Forty-four percent had refractive error among whom astigmatism was more frequent (63.63%) followed by hyperopia (27.27%) and myopia (9.09%). Mebendazole is a well known anti-helimintic and belongs to the benzimidazole group of medicines. In order to achieve better medicinal results, i.e. enhanced activity and low toxicity, structural modifications are made in the existing drugs. Some 5-benzoyl-N-[1-(alkoxyphthalimido) benzimidazol-2-yl] carbamic acid methyl ester (3a-c) and 5-benzoyl-N-[1-(2,3-bis oxyphthalimido∕oxysuccinimido propyl benzimidazol-2-yl) carbamic acid methyl ester (7a-b) have been synthesized from two different routes. Structures of the compounds have been established on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral studies. All the synthesized compounds (3a-c) and (7a-b) were assayed in vitro for antimicrobial activity against mebendazole (itself) and standard [ciprofloxacin (antibacterial) and fluconazole (antifungal)].

DNA from rumen digesta has several diagnostic applications such as studying microbial community dynamics, transgene/ DNA stability, and population typing of various rumen bacteria. Several DNA extraction procedures are described in the literature for rumen digesta, which describe the removal of tannins, polysaccharides, and other PCR inhibitors. Some of these protocols are time-consuming and impractical when handling a large number of samples routinely. Here we describe a rapid method for the extraction of PCR-quality plant and microbial DNA from total rumen contents that is based on modifications in the cetyltrimethylammonium bromide procedure followed by cleanup using a Qiagen column. This procedure is highly reproducible and relatively short, once the initial grinding of the samples is performed, and it consistently yields PCR-quality DNA.

Nonetheless, it is of paramount importance to exercise the utmost caution when dealing with electricity, as even the slightest oversight or wiring hazard can precipitate tragic consequences, including loss of life. A 27-year-old male presented to the hospital with burns on his thighs and feet. He reported a history of an electrical burn on his right hand caused by an electrical socket at home while attempting to replace a light bulb. The wire from the socket came into contact with his thigh and foot. Initially, the family took him to a private hospital, but he was subsequently referred to a tertiary healthcare facility. The patient had a history of loss of consciousness at home and no reported chest discomfort, head trauma, or breathlessness. There was no family history of diabetes or hypertension. Pemphigus Vulgaris is an uncommon autoimmune skin disorder that is characterized by persistent and blistering lesions. In approximately 50% of patients, mucous membrane erosions are the initial symptom. The primary presenting symptom is often oral mucosal erosions. Affected individuals frequently experience flaccid blisters and erosions on healthy skin and mucous membranes, and other areas of the body may also be affected. This condition is the result of autoantibodies that target desmosomal antigens. We are presenting a case of a 28-year-old male who presented to the hospital with fluid-filled lesions on his forehead and in his oral cavity. A skin biopsy was performed, and he was diagnosed with pemphigus vulgaris. Initially, he was started on a combination of steroids and azathioprine, but he did not respond to this treatment regimen. However, he was successfully treated with injection rituximab. Rituximab has been found to be an effective treatment approach towards pemphigus vulgaris. It can help prevent further complications and reduce the severity of the disease. By targeting the autoantibodies that cause the disorder, rituximab can help control the patient’s symptoms and improve their quality of life. It is important to note that early diagnosis and treatment can play a critical role in the management of pemphigus vulgaris.

Background: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a life-threatening condition. It happens when the fetal diaphragm does not develop normally during pregnancy. In CDH, the diaphragm breach permits abdominal contents to leak into the thoracic cavity. Pulmonary hypoplasia and pulmonary vascular disease are present in varying degrees of CHD syndrome. Typically leads to pulmonary hypertension, due to anatomical and functional pulmonary vascular abnormalities. Case presentation: Here we report a case of a 5-day-old male neonate born with respiratory distress. After undergoing radiological examination patient was diagnosed with CDH. Transabdominal surgical management was given. The prognosis was good. Conclusion: Transabdominal surgical approach was effective in the case of CDH management.
