In this current era, with the ever-increasing demand for portable and wearable energy storage devices, the supercapacitor (SC) plays a very positive role to fulfill this gap. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are extremely promising material candidate in flexible SC where it works as an electrode to enhance the energy and power densities of the SC because of their remarkable mechanical property, high electrical conductivity, large surface area, and ease to functionalize. Moreover, CNTs can assemble into various macroscopic structures with different dimensions such as single-wall CNTs (SWCNTs), double-wall CNTs (DWCNTs), and multi-wall CNTs (MWCNTs). In this book chapter, a comprehensive discussion on the synthesis, characterization and further utilization of CNTs in metal oxide-based SC has been outlined. Here, the metal oxide can be 1D nanofibers, 2D thin films, and 3D aerogels. Further, a detailed study has been framed on the design methodology and fabrication techniques for the supercapacitor. Recently, various developments and state-of-the-art applications have been proposed for such structures wherein CNTs have been used as electrodes in flexible SCs with varied device configurations such as sandwiched and interdigital in-plane. Furthermore, the flexible CNT-based electrodes have shown great bendability, and compressibility, as well as a long cycle lifetime.

Second harmonic generation (SHG) is a process in which two photons of energy ω are absorbed by a material and a photon of energy 2ω is emitted. This process is theoretically described by the second order macroscopic susceptibility χ((2). This spectroscopy is used to study the optical properties of materials and it reveals additional information which cannot be accessed with linear optical spectroscopies. Indeed, as the dipolar selection rules prohibit SHG in centro-symmetric materials, it is possible to obtain a structural and electronic characterization of complex systems. In particular, the absence of time inversion symmetry, due to a magnetic order, reveals new contributions in second harmonic generation. For the specific case of antiferromagnetic materials, magnetic symmetry determines the polarization of the material and SHG then reveals the arrangement of spins in the solid. It was shown that it can be used to study ultrafast processes in magnetic materials, such as demagnetization.There are few satisfactory ab initio theoretical descriptions for nonlinear processes in magnetic materials. These theoretical approaches must be able to treat the electron-electron interactions, the effects of local fields (reflecting the microscopic inhomogeneities in the material) and the spin distribution of the electrons on the same footing.The aim of my thesis was to numerically calculate the optical, linear and second order responses for antiferromagnetic materials. I calculated these two answers for a chromium oxide (Cr2O3) as part of an ab-initio formalism, based on TDDFT (Time-Dependent Density Functional). In this approach, the spin distribution was taken into account explicitly and this extension was implemented in the 2light code.The electron-electron interaction is described mathematically by the exchange -correlation kernel fxc which must be approximated. Finding a good approximation for fxc is extremely important because the modeling and the interpretation of experiments is fundamentally based on these approximations. In particular, fxc must be able to describe the excitonic effects (electron-hole interactions) in the optical response. I studied the influence of these approximate kernel on the optical properties of Cr2O3. In the case of absorption spectra, I compared my results to the spectra calculated from the Bethe-Salpeter equation which explicitly takes into account the excitonic effects and I was thus able to demonstrate the presence of a strongly bound exciton.I was finally interested in different possible structures for Cr2O3, differing from each other only in the spin distribution, and I showed that my results can discriminate between these structures., La génération de seconde harmonique (SHG) est un processus au cours duquel deux photons d’énergie ω sont absorbés par un matériau et un photon d'énergie 2ω est émis. Ce processus est théoriquement décrit par la susceptibilité macroscopique du second ordre χ(2). Cette spectroscopie est utilisée pour étudier les propriétés optiques des matériaux et elle révèle des informations supplémentaires inaccessibles aux spectroscopies optiques linéaires,. En effet, comme les règles de sélection dipolaire interdisent la SHG dans les matériaux centro-symétriques, il est possible d'obtenir une caractérisation structurale et électronique de systèmes complexes. En particulier , l'absence de symétrie d'inversion du temps, due à un ordre magnétique, fait apparaître de nouvelles contributions dans la génération de seconde harmonique. Dans le cas de matériaux antiferromagnétiques, la symétrie magnétique détermine la polarisation du matériau et SHG révèle alors l'arrangement des spins dans le solide.Elle peut ainsi être utilisée pour l'étude de processus ultrarapides dans les matériaux magnétiques, tels que les phénomènes de démagnétisation.Il existe peu de descriptions théoriques ab initio satisfaisantes pour les processus non-linéaires dans les matériaux magnétiques. Ces approches théoriques doivent être capables de traiter sur le même pied les interactions électron-électron, les effets de champs locaux (reflétant les inhomogénéités microscopiques dans le matériau) et la distribution en spin des électrons.Le but de ma thèse était de calculer numériquement les réponses optiques, linéaires et du second ordre, pour des matériaux antiferromagnétiques. J’ai calculé ces deux réponses pour un oxide de chrome (Cr2O3) dans le cadre d’un formalisme ab-initio, reposant sur la TDDFT (Time-Dependent Density Functional). Dans cette approche, la distribution en spin a été prise en compte explicitement et cette extension a été implémentée dans le code 2light .L’interaction électron-électron est décrite mathématiquement par le noyau d'échange et de corrélation fxc qui doit être approximé. Trouver une bonne approximation pour fxc est extrêmement important car la modélisation et l’interprétation des expériences repose fondamentalement sur ces approximations. En particulier, fxc doit être en mesure de décrire les effets excitoniques (interactions électron-trou) dans la réponse optique. J’ai étudié l’influence de ces noyaux approximés sur les propriétés optiques de Cr2O3 . Dans le cas des spectres d’absorption, j’ai comparé mes résultats aux spectres calculés à partir de l’équation de Bethe-Salpeter qui prend en compte explicitement les effets excitoniques et j’ai pu ainsi mettre en évidence la présence d’un exciton fortement lié.Je me suis finalement intéressée à différentes structures possibles pour Cr2O3, ne différant entre elles que par la distribution des spins, et j’ai montré que mes résultats permettaient de discriminer de façon caractéristique entre ces structures.

Aim: Current experimental investigation is dedicated to prepare microspheres with small size and good sphericity by Phase Separation method using Isoniazid (INH) as model drug. Silk fibroin has unique intrinsic qualities like biodegradability, biocompatibility or release properties and their tunable drug loading capacity. The delivery loading proficiency of the drug molecules in silk spheres be contingent on their charge, and hydrophobicity or subsequent in altered drug release profiles. Methods: In the present work Isoniazid loaded silk fibroin microsphere was prepared by using phase separation method. Microsphere was evaluated for Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy, Entrapment efficiency, Scanning electron microscopy Studies. Results: Scanning electron microscopy studies revealed that Isoniazid Loaded Silk Fibroin Microspheres were spherical. Entrapment Efficiency of Isoniazid loaded Microspheres of different Formulation from F1 to F5 was in range of 53 to 68 %. F3 showed 68.47 % entrapment Efficiency and the optimized formulation drug release was 93.56 % at 24 hours. Conclusion: Experimental report disclosed a new aqueous based formulation method for silk spheres with controllable shape or size and sphere. Isoniazid loaded silk microspheres may act as ideal nano formulation with elaborated studies. La fibroina de seda tiene cualidades intrínsecas únicas como la biodegradabilidad, biocompatibilidad o propiedades de liberación y su capacidad de carga de fármacos ajustable. La aptitud de entrega de carga de las moléculas de fármaco en las esferas de seda estar supeditada a su carga, y la hidrofobicidad o subsiguiente alteración en los perfiles de liberación de fármacos. Métodos: En el presente trabajo la microesfera de fibroina de seda cargada de isoniazida fue preparada utilizando el método de separación de fases. La microesfera fue evaluada por espectroscopia ultravioleta-visible, espectroscopia infrarroja con transformado de Fourier, se midió la eficiencia de atrapamiento y se estudios mediante microscopia electrónica de barrido. Resultados: Estudios con el microscopio de escaneo de electrones revelaron que las microesferas de fibroina cargada de isoniazida eran esféricas. La eficacia de atrapamiento de las microesferas de formulación diferente de F1 a F5 estuvo en el rango de 53 a 68 %. F3 mostró un 68,47 % de eficiencia de atrapamiento y tras optimizar la formulación de liberación de fármacos fue de 93,56 %, a las 24 horas. Conclusión: Esta investigación reveló una nueva formulación de base acuosa para las esferas de seda con forma controlable o la forma y el tamaño de la esfera. Las microesferas de seda cargadas de isoniazida pueden actuar como ideal formulación nano con estudios elaborados.
