BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Gains in fat mass and lean mass during tuberculosis (TB) treatment may determine functional recovery and survival;yet, data are scarce. We aimed to assess predictors of fat and fat-free mass during 2 months of intensive TB treatment in a cohort in Mwanza, Tanzania. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Fat and fat-free mass were determined at the start of TB treatment and repeated after 2 months using the deuterium dilution technique. Gains in fat and fat-free mass were determined and predictors assessed using regression analysis. RESULTS: Data for 116 patients were available at baseline and during follow-up. Of these, 38.8% were females, mean age was 37.3 (s.d. 13.5) years, 69% (81) had sputum-positive TB, 45.7% (53) were HIV infected and 25% (29) were current smokers. The mean weight gain was 3.3 kg (95% confidence interval: 2.7;3.8), and it did not differ by sex. However, compared with females, males had 1.0 (0.4;1.6) kg/[m.sup.2] lower fat mass but 0.7 (0.2;1.3) kg/[m.sup.2] higher fat-free mass gain. Current smoking was associated with higher fat mass (0.7 kg/[m.sup.2], 0.04;1.4) but lower fat-free mass (-0.5 kg/[m.sup.2],-1.2;0.07) gain. Among HIV-infected patients, antiretroviral therapy (ART) led to a lower fat gain (- 1.2 kg/[m.sup.2],-2.2;-0.2) but to a higher fat-free mass among sputum-negative (2.9 kg/[m.sup.2], 0.8;5.1) but not sputum-positive patients. CONCLUSIONS: During intensive phase of TB treatment, sex, smoking and ART were predictors of body composition. يهدف البحث الى تشخيص مستويات توفر ابعاد قيادة الازمات والمناعة التنظيمية والتحقق من دور قيادة الازمات في المناعة التنظيمية في الجامعات التقنية في اقليم كوردستان العراق من خلال تحليل دور ابعاد قيادة الازمات في المناعة التنظيمية فيها، تم اعتماد المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لتشخيص متغيرات البحث التي اجريت في الجامعات التقنية في اقليم كوردستان العراق ( جامعة التقنية- دهوك، جامعة التقنية- اربيل ، جامعة التقنية- السليمانية ) وكانت عينة البحث مكونة من( 234) من اعضاء هيئة التدريس في الجامعات المبحوثة الذين ابدوا رأيهم من خلال مستويات اتفاقهم على فقرات الاستبانة والتي كانت الاداة الرئيسة لجمع بيانات الميدانية، تم تحليل البيانات بالاعتماد على عدد من الادواة الاحصائية منها المتوسطات الحسابية والانحرافات المعيارية ومعامل الارتباط والانحدار، توصل البحث الى وجود علاقة ارتباط معنوية بين قيادة الازمات والمناعة التنظيمية وان المناعة التنظيمية في الجامعات المبحوثة تقترن مع توفر المؤشرات التي تتبلور ضمن ابعاد قيادة الازمات لدى القيادات الادارية في الجامعات المبحوثة، وان بعدي المسؤولية والتعلم من الازمة لدى القادة تساهمان بمستويات عالية في تعزيز المناعة التنظيمية، فضلا عن وجود تأثير معنوي لجميع الابعاد الاخرى لقيادة الازمات في المناعة التنظيمية، واوصى البحث بضرورة سعي الجامعات بتعزيز المناعة التنظيمية لديهم بالتركيز على ابعاد قيادة الازمات لدى القادة وخاصة بعدي اخذ المسؤولية والتعلم من الازمة فضلا عن اقتراح اجراء دراسات مستقبلية في بيئات اخرى واختبار مهارات قيادة الازمات ومتغيرات اخرى يمكن ان تؤثر في تعزيز المناعة التنظيمية ضمن اطار الدراسات المستقبلية.

The study aimed to investigate the impact of leadership learning practices on the work locus of control among heads of departments at public universities in the Kurdistan Region-Iraq. More precisely, the study concentrated on investigating the impact of selected leadership learning practices; self-managed, practice-based, and formal learning practices on work locus of control. Data were collected from 207 heads of departments from different public universities in the Kurdistan Region-Iraq. A self-administered questionnaire of three parts was sent online to the participants to collect the primary data from the sample under the research. Descriptive and inferential statistics were utilized to analyze the collected data and test the research hypotheses using SPSS (25.0). The empirical results showed a positive relationship between leadership learning practices and locus of control. The Pearson correlation analysis revealed that all three leadership learning practices (self-managed, practice-based, and formal learning) were significantly related to the locus of control. The results of regression analysis supported these findings and revealed that leadership learning practices collectively explained 24% of the variance in the locus of control. The practice-based learning and formal learning practices were found to have the strongest positive impact on locus of control, while self-managed learning had a weak and insignificant impact. Hence, it can be said that these results assert the importance of leadership learning practices in promoting individuals’ locus of control. It is also suggested that investing in formal and practice-based leadership learning programs may positively influence the individual’s locus of control, which can have significant implications for personal and professional development. The findings indicate a positive relationship between leadership learning practices and locus of control. هدف البحث الى التعرف على التأثير ابعاد المالية السلوكية المتمثلة بـ ( المعرفة المالية و المواقف المالية والعوامل السلوكية ) في الثقة الريادية، وجرى اختيار عدد من الشركات ومكاتب الصيرفة في محافظة دهوك لاجراء الجانب الميداني في البحث وشمل البحث(73) من المدراء العاملين في تلك الشركات ومكاتب الصيرفة كأفراد المبحوثين، واعتمد البحث على استمارة الاستبيان كاداة رئيسة لجمع البيانات في الجانب الميداني، وتم تحليل بيانات الاستمارة بواسطة البرنامج الاحصائي (SPSS .V. 21) في جانبها العملي، وقد توصل البحث الى مجموعة من الاستنتاجات اهمها وجود تأثير معنوي لابعاد المالية السلوكية في الثقة الريادية على المستوى الكلي ، فضلا عن وجود تاثير غير معنوي للعوامل السلوكية في الثقة الريادية على المستوى الفرعي ، واقترح البحث مجموعة من المقترحات اهمها استحضار وتفعيل اليات اكتساب المعرفة المالية والمواقف المالية واعتمادها كونها تساهم في تعزيز الثقة الريادية .

يتناول البحث احدى المواضيع المعاصرة في المجال التنظيمي ، إذ تعد القيادة الرقمية احدى اهم الانماط القيادية التي تعتمدها قادة المنظمات المعاصرة والتي تترك اثراً ايجابيا في أداء الوظيفي للتابعين وانعكاسها في الاداء المنظمي ككل خاصة في هذه الحقبة الزمنية المتازمة التي تمر بها العالم والتي افرزتها التباعد الاجتماعي ، والفكرة الأساسية لهذا البحث تتمحور حول نمط القيادة الرقمية وانعكاساتها في الأداء الوظيفي لدى رؤساء الاقسام والمقررين في الأقسام العلمية من خلال تشخيص ابعاد القيادة الرقمية وتأثيرها على الأداء الوظيفي في الأقسام العلمية لعدد من الجامعات في اقليم كوردستان العراق التي تطبق نظام بولونا في التعليم والتي يتطلب ادوات رقمية للتعامل معها ، ويتمثل مجتمع البحث بجميع رؤساء الاقسام والمقررين في جامعة زاخو و جامعة جرمو وجامعة التنمية البشرية ، ومن أجل الاختبار الفرضيات تم تصميم استمارة الاستبانة بالاستناد الى الدراسات السابقة ، وتم اختيار عينة عشوائية مكونة من (62) من رؤساء الاقسام والمقررين في تلك الجامعات، وتم اخضاع (56) استمارة صالحة للتحليل لتشكل عينة البحث ، ومن اجل التحقق من اهداف البحث تم تشخيص وتحليل البيانات بالاعتماد على برنامج(SPSS V-17). خلص البحث بوجود حالة الارتباط بين عناصر القيادة الرقمية (الرؤية الرقمية، التنمية المهنية للأفراد، القابليات الرقمية، توليد الشبكات الرقمية) والاداء الوظيفي ، ومعنوية العلاقة التأثيرية للقيادة الرقمية في الأداء الوظيفي على المستوى الكلي والجزئي ، وخلصت الدراسة بضرورة الاستفادة من نموذج العلاقة بين القيادة الرقمية والأداء الوظيفي اضافة الى تقديم بعض الاقتراحات منها التركيز على استحضار عناصر القيادة الرقمية نظرا لتأثيرها الايجابي الاداء الوظيفي في الاقسام العلمية في الجامعات .

This study was carried out in Ilala and Kinondoni Municipalities in Tanzania to explore the perceptions of Tuberculosis (TB), and treatment seeking behaviour, among patients attending healthcare facilities. The study was conducted in four randomly selected health facilities providing directly observed treatment (DOT). Exit interviews were administered to 69 randomly selected TB patients. The mean age of the respondents was 33.2 years (range= 11-72 years). Forty-six (66.7%) of the patients had primary school education. Fifty-nine (84.1%) patients had good knowledge on the transmission of TB. Majority (75%) of the respondents were of the opinion that the incidence of TB was on the increase and this was mainly associated with HIV/AIDS epidemic. All respondents knew that TB was a curable disease if one complies with the treatment. Sixty-four (60%) respondents had good knowledge on the correct duration of tuberculosis treatment. The median duration before seeking treatment from a health facility was 1.5 months. The majority of the patients 47 (68%) visited public health facilities for treatment as their first action. Overall, 83.8% (57/68) respondents said females comply better with treatment than male patients. The majority of the respondents lived within a walking distance to a healthcare facility. Only 18.8% (13/69) had to spend an average of US$ 0.2-0.3 as travel costs to the healthcare facility. Most of the respondents (57.8%) said they were well attended by service providers. Half (21/42) and 59.3% (16/27) of the males and females, respectively, mentioned good patient-service provider relationship as an important reason for satisfaction of the service (Χ² =0.57, df=1, P>0.005). Twenty-nine (42%) of respondents were of the opinion that female TB patients conformed better to treatment than males and a similar number thought that both of them equally conformed to treatment. Findings from this study indicate that a large population in urban settings are aware that health facilities play a major role in TB treatment. In conclusion, there is a need to further explore how this information could potentially be used to enhance early seeking of appropriate services among TB patients in the era of rapid urbanization.
