Abstract

Single-phased La0.6Sr0.4Co1-yFeyO3-d (y = 0.2, 0.5, 0.8) nanorods exhibiting the rhombohedral perovskite-type phase were synthesized by a pore-wetting technique. We studied their chemical composition, crystal and electronic structures, morphology and hyperfine properties as a function of the Co/Fe content of the samples. Our results demonstrate that Co cations exhibit a slightly lower oxidation state than Fe ones, resulting in a higher oxygen non-stoichiometry d for Co-rich samples. In addition, the values of d determined in this work for nanostructured samples are much higher than those reported in the literature for bulk materials. This can be attributed to the high degree of defects in nanomaterials and is probably one important factor in the high electrochemical performance for the oxygen reduction reaction of nanostructured La0.6Sr0.4Co1-yFeyO3-d IT-SOFC cathodes, which have been reported in a previous work. 6. Factors Involved in the Decision of Whether to Do or Not a Thesis in Psychology Students

Abstract

Despite the need for scientific research in psychology to solve the different psychosocial problems of the country (family violence and corruption, for example), studies in this area are not still enough. One of the ways to encourage research is by doing a thesis. However, many students opt for other types of jobs for that purpose. The objective of the study is to identify, describe and explain those factors that influence the undergraduate Psychology students' decision to do or not a thesis in order to obtain the professional degree. A qualitative methodology and the Grounded Theory design were used. We conducted seven individual interviews and two focus groups of a total of 28 university students (20 women and 8 men), living in the city of Lima, two of them from public universities and three of them from private universities and who were in the last semesters of the Psychology specialty. The results suggest that there are psychological, circumstantial, family, university-related, social and cultural factors, complex interaction of which affects the psychological processes of the student to decide to do or not a thesis, representing the student's belief system in itself and in relation to the research activity, a main psychological factor.

Abstract

The results obtained from the multi‐analytic compositional characterization of ceramic pastes and paints of the Santa María style, from the El Bolsón valley (Belén Department, Catamarca Province, Argentina), are presented here. This pottery style had a wide regional distribution in Northwestern Argentina between ca. 1000 and1600 ce and is characterized by its complex iconography painted in black, cream and red. The analyses show that the containers correspond to the technical tradition of using grog temper and suggest that its manufacture involved a double firing process. Abstract

El estudio tuvo como objetivo, determinar la relación entre la gestión administrativa y calidad de servicio del Hospital La Caleta, Chimbote 2021. El tipo de estudio según su enfoque es cuantitativo, según su finalidad es aplicada, su nivel de alcance es correlacional, y su diseño de estudio es no experimental, transversal, correlacional. Se trabajó con una población constituida por 640 pacientes y una muestra conformada por 241 pacientes. Se utilizó la técnica de la encuesta y como instrumento el cuestionario sobre gestión administrativa y calidad de servicio, los datos fueron analizados mediante tablas de frecuencias, diagrama de dispersión y la prueba no paramétrica Rho de Spearman. Entre sus resultados, se determinó que el 51,0% de los pacientes valoran la gestión administrativa como regular, y a la vez, el 44,0% valora a la calidad de servicio como regular. La prueba Rho de Spearman mostró un coeficiente de correlación 0,864 y una significancia estadística p=0,000 que permitió aceptar la hipótesis general y rechazar la hipótesis nula. Concluyendo, que existe una relación positiva alta y significativa entre la gestión administrativa y calidad de servicio del Hospital La Caleta, Chimbote 2021. 26. Análisis de los principales determinantes de la aglomeración industrial: el caso de la IED japonesa automotriz en México

Abstract

The current research analyses the agglomeration behavior of Japanese Foreign Direct Investment in Mexico’s automotive sector in the Bajio region. The study employs unpublished data obtained from Mexico’s Secretariat of Economy. The database is used to carry out the empirical analysis using spatial econometric techniques and test the presence of spatial dependence in the variables of the model. According to the results, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, labor force, transportation infrastructure, and geographical distance explain Japanese FDI agglomeration in Mexico’s Bajio region. The results also elucidate that economic similarities within entities may help attract investment in similar proportions to neighboring states. Additionally, positive spatial effects from Japanese FDI were found, suggesting that an increase in Japanese FDI in one state is followed by increments of Japanese investment in neighboring states. This may be evidence of horizontal cooperation and a result of Japanese firms taking advantage of scale economies and the development of specialized labor markets and suppliers in the Bajio region., En la presente investigación se analiza el comportamiento de aglomeración de la IED japonesa en el sector automotriz dentro del Bajío mexicano. Se utiliza una base de datos con información no publicada proveniente de la Secretaría de Economía, dicha información se obtuvo mediante una petición directa a la dependencia. A partir de esta base de datos se realiza un análisis utilizando econometría espacial que permite comprobar la existencia de dependencia espacial en los datos. De acuerdo con los resultados obtenidos, las variables de PIB per cápita, la disponibilidad laboral, la infraestructura en transportación y la distancia geográfica explican la aglomeración de la IED japonesa en el Bajío mexicano. La importancia de los resultados encontrados ayuda a entender las similitudes económicas que entre entidades ayudan a atraer inversión similar en estados vecinos. Además, se encontró presencia de efectos espaciales positivos de la IED japonesa. Esto señala que aumentos de inversión japonesa en un estado van de la mano con incrementos de inversión japonesa en estados vecinos, lo que podría ser evidencia de cooperación horizontal, aprovechamiento de economías de escala, desarrollo de mercados laborales y de proveedores especializados en la región del Bajío.

Defesa : Curitiba, 03/05/2019 Inclui referências: p. 48-54 Resumo: Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar o número de CGG no gene FMR1 em um grupo de mulheres que apresentam Insuficiência Ovariana Precoce (POI, Primary Ovarian Insufficiency) ou baixa reserva ovariana. Adicionalmente, avaliar qual o alelo mais frequente no grupo estudado e promover a orientação e aconselhamento genético das mulheres identificadas com mutações no gene FMR1. Material e Método: Foram convidadas a participar do estudo 52 mulheres com diagnóstico prévio de POI ou baixa reserva ovariana atendidas no ambulatório de gineco-endocrinologia do Hospital de Clínicas do Paraná - HC/UFPR e em uma clínica de reprodução humana triadas em Curitiba-PR. Todas as participantes foram testadas molecularmente para SXF através das técnicas de PCR-triagem e PCR FragilEase. Resultados: Das 52 mulheres analisadas no estudo uma (1,9%) apresentou alelo em pré-mutação e uma (1,9%) alelo na faixa intermediaria ou Zona Gray. Os tamanhos de alelos mais frequentes encontrados foram de 28 repetições CGG e 30 repetições de CGG. Conclusão: Sugerimos que o teste molecular para SXF tenha um papel na compreensão da etiologia da insuficiência ovariana, assim como na prevenção da transmissão da SXF. In addition, to evaluate the most common allele in the studied group and promote the genetic counseling of women identified with mutations in the FMR1 gene. Methods: Fifty-two women diagnosed with POI or diminished ovarian reserve assisted the Gynaecology- Endocrinology ambulatory at the Clinic Hospital of Paraná - HC / UFPR and at a human reproduction clinic in Curitiba-PR. All participants were molecularly tested for FXS using PCR-screening and FragilEase PCR techniques. Results: The result of the 52 women analyzed in this study showed that one (1.9%) premutation allele and one (1.9%) allele in the intermediate range or Gray Zone. The most frequent allele found were 28 CGG repeats and 30 CGG repeats. Conclusions: We suggest that molecular diagnose of FXS has a role in the comprehension of the etiology of ovarian insufficiency and in the prevention of transmission of FXS. Se empleó una metodología cualitativa y el diseño Teoría Fundamentada. Se realizaron 7 entrevistas individuales y 2 grupos focales a un total de 28 estudiantes universitarios (20 mujeres y 8 varones), residentes en la ciudad de Lima, de 2 universidades nacionales y 3 particulares, que cursaban los últimos ciclos de la carrera de Psicología. Los resultados sugieren que existen factores psicológicos, circunstanciales, familiares, relacionados a la universidad, sociales y culturales cuya compleja interacción influye en los procesos psicológicos del estudiante para tomar la decisión de realizar o no realizar una tesis, representando el sistema de creencias del estudiante respecto de sí mismo y en relación con la actividad de investigación un factor psicológico central. Abstract

Estudia la validez de la escala Preoperatoria de Nottingham en adultos mayores sometidos a cirugía de fractura de cadera en el Hospital Nacional Alberto Sabogal Sologuren en el año 2017. El estudio es de tipo cuantitativo, observacional, analítico, longitudinal y prospectivo. La población lo conforman adultos mayores diagnosticados y hospitalizados por fractura de cadera en el servicio de ortopedia y traumatología. Para el procesamiento y análisis de datos se utilizará la estadística descriptiva por medio de proporciones o razones para las variables categóricas, medidas de tendencia central y de dispersión para las variables cuantitativas, anotadas como medias, y desviación estándar si los datos presentan una distribución normal, o como medianas si se muestran libres de distribución. La evaluación de la validez de la escala dependerá de los juicios que los expertos hagan sobre la pertinencia de los ítems. Para ello se invitará a cinco médicos especialistas en geriatría para valorar la apariencia de la escala. Luego de ello se realizará la validez de contenido mediante el análisis factorial que permiten conocer la estructura factorial y cómo representan los ítems los distintos factores para, eventualmente, retirar aquellos que no aportan variabilidad a la medición. Para ello se evaluarán 100 pacientes en total. La validez de constructo se realizará mediante la evaluación de los valores de correlación en estructuras matriciales (Matriz multirrasgo-multimétodo). Debido a que no existen escalas validadas en nuestro país, la validez de criterio (concurrente y predictiva) se realizará mediante apreciación clínica subjetiva global.

Abstract

Tubular pottery comprises certain peculiar artifacts that were produced by late Holocene complex hunter-gatherer societies in southeastern South America for unknown purposes. Some authors have related them to mortuary behaviour which has also been suggested by historical sources, while others have considered domestic use. In this paper, the technical, compositional and functional properties of these artifacts are explored in order to contrast both hypotheses, given an example of how technical analysis allows the identification of special pottery within archeological contexts. This analysis includes a study of the fabrics involved using low and high magnification, thin sections, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, Mössbauer Spectroscopy, Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy and fatty acid profiles. The results show that these tubular artifacts are not fit structurally for utilitarian purposes and show no evidence of domestic use. Based on these results and on historical data, it can be postulated that they were used as part of mortuary rituals, thus becoming part of the select global group of pottery manufactured exclusively for mortuary purposes. Abstract

In this work, the removal efficiency of U(VI) from water using commercial nanoparticles of zerovalent iron (nZVI) (NANOFER 25, NANO IRON s.r.o.) and magnetite (nM) (NanoFe®, Nanotek SA) was evaluated. Batch experiments were carried out in a jacketed reactor with a vertical paddle stirrer, using UO2(NO3)2 solutions([U(VI)]0 = 0.25 mM = 59.5 mg L-1) at pH 5.3. The nanoparticles (initially suspended in water) were added tothe U(VI) solution to achieve different Fe:U(VI) molar ratios (MR) in the range of 1 to 100. U(VI) removal with nZVI and nM at MR 4 and dissolved oxygen (DO) levels higher than 0.1 mg L-1 were rather efficient, reaching in both cases a final removal of 65 %. Under these conditions, uranium removal strongly depends on thepresence of DO, decreasing with increasing DO. When 40 and 100 MR were used, a complete U(VI) removal in the first 15 min of treatment was observed, and oxygen was consumed reaching negligible DO levels (below0.1 mg L-1). With MR = 4 and DO levels below 0.1 mg L-1 (achieved by N2 bubbling), removal of U(VI) wascomplete in 60 min of reaction for both types of nanoparticles. Although the trend of the removal curves was similar, the advantage of nM is that very low levels of iron in solution (as Fe(total)), below 1 mg L-1, were observed during the whole reaction time, while it was 5 mg L-1 for nZVI at the end of the run, mainly as Fe(II). 45. Causas de reprovação no teste de acuidade visual do Departamento de Trânsito do Paraná

Abstract

RESUMO O exame de acuidade visual é um teste importante na seleção dos candidatos à Carteira Nacional de Habilitação (CNH), uma vez que uma boa visão é essencial para a segurança no trânsito. Entretanto, muitos oftalmologistas recebem em seus consultórios pacientes reprovados neste teste sem alteração da acuidade visual (AV). Com o objetivo de verificar as causas de reprovação no teste da AV do Departamento de Trânsito (Detran), bem como sua sensibilidade, foram avaliados 120 candidatos à CNH, que reprovaram no exame da AV, onde verificou-se que 56 (46,7%) candidatos reprovados teriam condições de aprovação e poderiam obter qualquer tipo de CNH. O erro de refração foi encontrado em 95 (79,2%) pacientes reprovados no teste de AV do Detran. Os autores concluíram que o Detran, por ter um teste de AV muito sensível no que tange à reprovação, poderia ter fornecido a CNH para a maior parte dos candidatos sem que houvesse necessidade de encaminhamento ao oftalmologista. SUMMARY The visual acuity test is important to select the candidate to driving license, since a good visual acuity is essential to traffic security, however a lot of ophthalmologists examine failed candidates with normal vision. To verify the causes of failure in visual acuity test of Driver License Division as well its sensibility, 120 driving license candidates who failed in visual acuity test were assessed. Fifty six (46.7%) candidates who failed, had good condition to be aproved and get any class of driving license. Refractive error was lound in 95 (79.2%) of the reproved patients in visual acuity test of Driver license division. The authors concluded that there is a great sensibility in the visual acuity test of driver license division. Most part of patients could get their driving license despite of going to the ophthalmologist.

Abstract

Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is caused by expansion of the number of cytosine-guanine-guanine (CGG) repeats in the regulatory region of the gene fragile X mental retardation 1(FMR1). The molecular diagnoses of FXS can be performed using two tests based on two different techniques, namely polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Southern blotting (SB). However, both of these techniques have limitations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of the commercial FragilEase™ PCR kit for FXS diagnosis comparing to other laboratory methods.

Abstract

Objective: Our study aimed to identify mutations in the FMR1 gene in a group of Brazilian women diagnosed with primary ovarian insufficiency (POI)., Methods: This cross-sectional study included patients aged under 40 years with confirmed POI from a convenience sample of patients seen from June 2017 to December 2018 at a University Hospital in Curitiba, Brazil. Genomic DNA was extracted and analyzed using FragilEase(tm) PCR kits (PerkinElmer), a commercially available test that enables the quantification of CGG trinucleotide repeat expansions in the FMR1 gene., Results: A total of 52 patients with an average age of 35.8±3.97 years were included. Fifty (96.1%) had normal alleles with 18 to 43 CGG repeats. The most frequent CGG-repeat sizes were 28 and 30. Two patients (3.8%) presented mutations in the FMR1 gene. The first had alleles with 19/97 CGG repeats, was categorized as a premutation carrier for FXS, and had a son with cognitive impairment. The second had alleles with 21/45 CGG repeats and was described as belonging to the gray zone., Conclusions: In our study, 3.8% of the females with POI had mutations in the FMR1 gene. The most frequent allele sizes were 28 and 30 CGG repeats.
