Sexuality is a component of great relevance in humans. Sexual disorders are a major public health problem representing a high prevalence in the general population. DSM-5 genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder (GPPPD) includes dyspareunia and vaginismus (DSM-IV-TR). To assess the importance of research on these disorders in Spain, we evaluated the Spanish scientific publications of primary and community care. The objective was to quantify the magnitude of the publications of GPPPD in Spanish women in primary and community care. For this, we used the method of conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies evaluating GPPPD. As main results, of the 551 items found, we selected 11 studies that met the inclusion criteria. In primary care in Spain, one in nine women has these disorders; the percentage of women with GPPPD in this study (raw data) was 11.23% (95% CI: 0–29%) (vaginismus 5%; penetration pain 8.33%; dyspareunia 16.45%). These percentages can differ of those from other countries, and they are at the top of the data of the European countries (9−11.9%). There is much variability in the studies found in the world with respect to the prevalence of these health problems.

This paper describes an ensemble feature identification algorithm called SEQENS, and measures its capability to identify the relevant variables in a case-control study using a genetic expression microarray dataset. SEQENS uses Sequential Feature Search on multiple sample splitting to select variables showing stronger relation with the target, and a variable relevance ranking is finally produced. Although designed for feature identification, SEQENS could also serve as a basis for feature selection (classifier optimisation). Cliff, a ranking evaluation metric is also presented and used to assess the feature identification algorithms when a groundtruth of relevant variables is available. To test performance, three types of synthetic groundtruths emulating fictitious diseases are generated from ten randomly chosen variables following different target pattern distributions using the E-MTAB-3732 dataset. Several sample-to-dimensionality ratios ranging from 300 to 3,000 observations and 854 to 54,675 variables are explored. SEQENS is compared with other feature selection or identification state-of-the-art methods. On average, the proposed algorithm identifies better the relevant genes and exhibits a stronger stability. The algorithm is available to the community.

Instruments for the measurement of human sexuality include self-report measures used to assess sexual functioning, but many of them have not yet been validated. The Center of Applied Psychology Female Sexual Questionnaire (CAPFS-Q) is an original self-report instrument. It has been developed for the study of sexuality in specific non-clinical populations, such as female university students of Medicine and other Health Sciences. The CAPFS-Q includes 26 items, organized as follows: sociodemographic and relevant data (four items); aspects of sexual relations with partner (five items); sexual practices (12 from 13 items); and dysfunctional aspects of sexual relations (four items). CAPFS-Q validity and reliability were examined in a sample of Spanish female university students of Health Sciences. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (FA) showed a four-factor structure which explained 71.6% of the variance. This initial version of the CAPFS-Q is a reliable measure of women’s sexual behavior, with a dimensionality that replicates the initial theoretical content and with adequate indicators of internal consistency, validity, and test–retest reliability. It is easy to administer and to complete.

Context. The inner few au region of planet-forming disks is a complex environment. High angular resolution observations have a key role in understanding the disk structure and the dynamical processes at work. Aims. In this study we aim to characterize the mid-infrared brightness distribution of the inner disk of the young intermediate-mass star HD 163296, from VLTI/MATISSE observations. Methods. We use geometric models to fit the data. Our models include a smoothed ring, a flat disk with inner cavity, and a 2D Gaussian. The models can account for disk inclination and for azimuthal asymmetries as well. We also perform numerical hydro-dynamical simulations of the inner edge of the disk. Results. Our modeling reveals a significant brightness asymmetry in the L-band disk emission. The brightness maximum of the asymmetry is located at the NW part of the disk image, nearly at the position angle of the semimajor axis. The surface brightness ratio in the azimuthal variation is $3.5 \pm 0.2$. Comparing our result on the location of the asymmetry with other interferometric measurements, we confirm that the morphology of the $r, accepted for publication in A&A

International audience; We present an update on the overall integration progress of the WEAVE next-generation spectroscopy facility for the William Herschel Telescope (WHT), now scheduled for first light in early-2021, with almost all components now arrived at the observatory. We also present a summary of the current planning behind the 5-year initial phase of survey operations, and some detailed end-to-end science simulations that have been implemented to evaluate the final on-sky performance after data processing. WEAVE will provide optical ground-based follow up of ground-based (LOFAR) and space-based (Gaia) surveys. WEAVE is a multi-object and multi-IFU facility utilizing a new 2-degree prime focus field of view at the WHT, with a buffered pick-and-place positioner system hosting 1000 multi-object (MOS) fibres, 20 mini integral field units, or a single large IFU for each observation. The fibres are fed to a single (dual-beam) spectrograph, with total of 16k spectral pixels, located within the WHT GHRIL enclosure on the telescope Nasmyth platform, supporting observations at R~5000 over the full 370-1000nm wavelength range in a single exposure, or a high resolution mode with limited coverage in each arm at R~20000.

The nature of circumstellar envelopes (CSE) around Cepheids is still a matter of debate. The physical origin of their infrared (IR) excess could be either a shell of ionized gas, or a dust envelope, or both. This study aims at constraining the geometry and the IR excess of the environment of the long-period Cepheid $\ell$ Car (P=35.5 days) at mid-IR wavelengths to understand its physical nature. We first use photometric observations in various bands and Spitzer Space Telescope spectroscopy to constrain the IR excess of $\ell$ Car. Then, we analyze the VLTI/MATISSE measurements at a specific phase of observation, in order to determine the flux contribution, the size and shape of the environment of the star in the L band. We finally test the hypothesis of a shell of ionized gas in order to model the IR excess. We report the first detection in the L band of a centro-symmetric extended emission around l Car, of about 1.7$R_\star$ in FWHM, producing an excess of about 7.0\% in this band. In the N band, there is no clear evidence for dust emission from VLTI/MATISSE correlated flux and Spitzer data. On the other side, the modeled shell of ionized gas implies a more compact CSE ($1.13\pm0.02\,R_\star$) and fainter (IR excess of 1\% in the L band). We provide new evidences for a compact CSE of $\ell$ Car and we demonstrate the capabilities of VLTI/MATISSE for determining common properties of CSEs. While the compact CSE of $\ell$ Car is probably of gaseous nature, the tested model of a shell of ionized gas is not able to simultaneously reproduce the IR excess and the interferometric observations. Further Galactic Cepheids observations with VLTI/MATISSE are necessary for determining the properties of CSEs, which may also depend on both the pulsation period and the evolutionary state of the stars., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures, accepted in Astronomy and Astrophysics

Choriocarcinoma is a rare, aggressive placental tumor that is part of so-called gestational trophoblastic diseases. We present the case of a 22-year-old nulliparous woman who spontaneously presents metrorrhagia with hemoptysis in the course of pregnancy at the 34th week. A tomography scan is performed to confirm nodules compatible with metastasis, cataloguing it as a possible metastatic choriocarcinoma. A cesarean section is preferably scheduled and treatment with chemotherapy is initiated. Choriocarcinoma is a tumor very sensitive to chemotherapy and has a high survival rate, although in metastatic cases the disease is usually fatal. El coriocarcinoma es un tumor de la placenta agresivo y poco frecuente que forma parte de las denominadas enfermedades trofoblásticas gestacionales. Presentamos el caso de una mujer de 22 años nulípara que, en el transcurso del embarazo, en la semana 34, presenta metrorragia con hemoptisis de forma espontánea. Se realiza una tomografía computarizada en la que se aprecian nódulos compatibles con metástasis, catalogándose como posible coriocarcinoma metastásico. Se programa para cesárea preferente y se inicia tratamiento quimioterápico. Este tumor es muy sensible a la quimioterapia y presenta un alto índice de supervivencia, aunque en los casos metastásicos puede ser mortal.

espanolRESUMEN Los parasitos gastroentericos (PGE), y en especial Haemonchus contortus (HC), se han logrado adaptar a diferentes ecosistemas y ocasionan danos directos e indirectos a la produccion de caprinos. Con el objetivo de determinar la frecuencia de PGE y las cargas parasitarias en abomaso de HC en caprinos infectados en forma natural y sacrificados en un rastro local de Bacum. De 2015 al 2017 se recolectaron 1823 muestras de heces y 770 abomasos. Las heces de cabras adultas fueron positivas 815 (42.4%) a Strongylideos; 69 positivas (3.69%) a Moniezia expansa y 5 positivas (0.21%) a Skjabinema caprae. En la revision de abomasos en tres anos de estudio se encontro la presencia de Strongylideos spp y de Haemonchus contortus, se recolectaron 770 abomasos con 447 positivos (58.05%), la poblacion total de HC fue 50,296: Hembras 33,222 (66.05%) y machos 17,074 (33.94%). Se revisa los efectos de los parasitos y el potencial biotico de HC que representa el valor en situacion ideal de adaptacion a diferentes ambientes que permite la infeccion de nuevos huespedes. Se concluye que la presencia de PGE y poblacion de Haemonchus contortus en abomaso representa un potencial biotico esencial de adaptacion y sobrevivencia en diferentes ambientes. EnglishABSTRACT The gastrointestinal parasites (PGE), and in special Haemonchus contortus (HC) have been adapted to different ecosystems and cause direct and indirect damage to the goat production. In order to determine the frequency of PGE and parasitic burdens of HC in abomasum in naturally infected goats and sacrificed in a local slaughter in Bacum during 2015 to 2017, 1,823 feces samples were collected of adult goats. 815 (42.4 %) samples were positive to Strongylidea; 69 (3.69 %) were positive to Moniezia expansa and 5 (0.21 %) were positive to Skjabinema caprae. In the same period, 770 abomasums were collected and 447 (58.05 %) were positive to the presence of adult Haemonchus contortus. The parasitic burden of HC was 50,296: 33,222 (66.05 %) female and 17,074 (33.94 %) male. The parasite effects and its biotic potential of HC have been reviewed which represent the value of adaptation to different environments that allows the infection of new guests. It is concluded that the presence of PGE and the population of Haemonchus contortus in abomasum represent an abiotic potential essential for adaptation and survival in different environments.

Objectives To determine the prevalence of inappropriate prescribing in elderly patients with polypharmacy admitted to a long-term care hospital (LTCH) and to evaluate the impact of an interdisciplinary pharmacotherapy quality programme on improvement of prescribing appropriateness. Methods An interventional, longitudinal, prospective study was conducted in a Spanish LTCH (October 2013 to July 2014) including 162 elderly (70 years) patients with polypharmacy (5 medications). Pharmacists conducted the pharmacotherapy follow-up of patients with medication reconciliation, pharmacotherapeutic optimisation and educational interviews from admission to discharge. Reconciliation errors, potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs), potentially prescribing omissions (PPOs) and significant drug interactions rates were calculated. The impact of the programme was evaluated considering the difference between the inappropriateness score per patient (total number of reconciliation errors, PIMs, PPOs and significant drug interactions) before and after implementing pharmacotherapy recommendations. Results At admission, 163 reconciliation errors (median(range), 1(1-6)) in 92 (56.8%) patients (65.6% drug omissions), 335 PIMs (2(1-6)) in 147 (90.7%) patients (39.3% use 2anticholinergic drugs), 43 PPOs (1(1-3)) in 32 (19.8%) patients (48.5% statin omission) and 594 significant drug interactions (4(1-19)) in 130 (80.2%) patients were detected. After implementing pharmacotherapy recommendations, statistically significant reductions in admission reconciliation errors (8.3% to 0.1%), PIMs (17.0% to 12.2%), PPOs (2.2% to 0.7%) and significant drug interactions (30.2% to 26.8%) rates were found. The programme achieved a 31% improvement in prescribing appropriateness, with a statistically significant reduction in the inappropriateness score (6(IQR:4-9) to 4(IQR:2-7)). Conclusion Reconciliation errors, PIMs and drug interactions are highly prevalent in elderly patients with polypharmacy admitted to an LTCH. This interdisciplinary pharmacotherapy quality programme seems to be a useful approach in the improvement of prescribing appropriateness in a high-risk older population.

Anal fissures (AFs) are lesions located in the lower anal canal. They can be primary (chronic or acute) or secondary to a basic disease. There is high comorbidity of depression and anxiety in patients with chronic AF, with poorer quality of life (QoL) and sexual function. This is a case–control study carried out in the San Juan Hospital (Alicante, Spain). Sixty-seven participants were included in the study, including 35 cases and 32 controls: 36 males and 31 females. This study aims to investigate the association of presenting AFs with sexuality, quality of life, anxiety, depression, and anger. The instruments used were the Spanish validated versions of the validated original selected questionnaires. These instruments were used to assess health-related quality of life, anxiety, anger, depression, and sexual function. Results show higher values in cases than in controls with statistical significance in anxiety state and trait; anxiety and depression; bodily pain, general health, and vitality; and 10 of the 12 anger factors. Higher values in controls than in cases with statistical significance in sexuality and many of the QoL factors were found. Addressing these issues in AF surgical patients would be beneficial for their clinical assessment and intervention.

Introducción: El tamaño y forma de la unidad experimental afecta la precisión en los resultados de ensayos de campo. Objetivo: Determinar el tamaño y la forma de unidad experimental apropiados para ensayos de rendimiento en arroz en Bagaces, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Métodos: Empleamos un análisis de regresión múltiple a los datos de un ensayo de uniformidad. La variabilidad residual, medida como coeficiente de variación (y relacionada a los diferentes tamaños y formas de unidad experimental replicable) fue modelada en función del largo y ancho. El siguiente paso fue estimar las derivadas parciales para cada regresora e igualarlas a -1. Al resolver este sistema de ecuaciones es posible obtener la combinación de ancho y largo de unidad de experimental que minimiza el coeficiente de variación. Resultados: Para este trabajo, esa combinación resultó ser de 2,93m de largo por 7,95m de ancho. Conclusión: En términos prácticos, el tamaño de unidad experimental que minimiza el coeficiente de variación es de 3m de largo por 8m de ancho. “Size and shape of experimental units for rice (Oryzasativa) yield trials, in Guanacaste, Costa Rica”. Introduction: The size and shape of an experimental unit affect the accuracy of field trials. Objective:Finding the appropriate size and shape of an experimental unit for rice yield trials in Bagaces, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Methods: We applied a multiple regression analysis to data from an uniformity trial. The re-sidual variability, measured as a coefficient of variation (and related to different sizes and forms of a replicable experimental unit), was mod-eled according to length and width. The next step was to determine partial derivatives per regressor and adjust them to -1. With the equa-tion system it is possible to obtain a combination of width and length which decreases the coefficient of variation. Results: For this work, the resulting combination was 2,93m long by 7,95m wide. Conclusion: In practical terms, the size of the experimental unit that decreases the co-efficient of variation is 3m long and 8m wide. Resumen: Se realizó un estudio con el objetivo de determinar si la adición de productos a base de microorganismos podrían aumentar, por medio de su dinámica natural y sus interaccione con las poblaciones de microflora y microfauna nativas, la variabilidad del suelo y por ende el tamaño óptimo de la unidad experimental para ensayos en arroz en el cantón de Bagaces, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Este ensayo se realizó en la misma finca donde se realizó el trabajo original en que se definió el tamaño óptimo de parcela para ensayos de arroz en la zona (Vargas y Navarro 2014). Se sembró cuatro ensayos de uniformidad, uno por cada producto utilizado; Trichoderma, Bioactivado, Nitrobacter y Micro Plus. Los datos obtenidos por este medio fueron empleados para aplicar el método de curvatura máxima. El punto de curvatura máxima -determinado por medio de la derivada parcial de la ecuación de regresión que relaciona el tamaño de la unidad experimental (X) con su correspondiente coeficiente de variación (Y)- para ningún producto superó el ámbito definido por Vargas y Navarro (2014) de 15 m2 a 20 m2. Los índices de heterogeneidad obtenidos en ningún caso superaron el valor de 0,83 (el ámbito de la escala para esta medida va de 0 a 1, donde 0 indica total homogeneidad y 1 total heterogeneidad) (Vargas y Navarro 2014) lo que demuestra que en una misma finca se pueden encontrar suelos muy diversos. Por último, el análisis de variancia mostró diferencia entre la producción obtenida con cada uno de los productos; con el producto Bioactivado se obtuvo una producción de 17 tm/ha que triplica la producción normal de la finca. Abstract: This study was conducted in order to determine whether adding products based on microorganisms could increase, through their natural dynamics and their interaction with native microflora and microfauna populations, the variability of the soil and, therefore, the optimum plot size for rice trials in Bagaces, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. This trial was conducted at the same farm where the optimum plot size was defined for rice trials in the area (Vargas & Navarro 2014). Four uniformity trials were planted, one for each product used: Trichoderma, Bioactivado, Nitrobacter, and Micro Plus. The data obtained was used to apply the maximum curvature method. The point of maximum curvature was determined using the partial derivative of the regression equation, which relates the plot size (X) with the corresponding variation coefficient (Y). None of the product’s point of maximum curvature exceeded the scope defined by Vargas & Navarro (2014) from 15 m2 to 20 m2. None of the indices of heterogeneity obtained exceeded the 0.83 value (the scope of the scale for this measure ranges from 0 to 1, where 0 indicates total homogeneity and 1 total heterogeneity) (Vargas & Navarro 2014), which shows that very diverse soils can be found in the same farm. Finally, the variance analysis showed differences in the production obtained with each product. A 17tm/ha production was obtained with Bioactivado, which triples the normal production of the farm.

Purpose Two-year follow-up to assess efficacy and safety of high-density autologous chondrocyte implantation (HD-ACI) in patients with cartilage lesions in the ankle. Design Twenty-four consecutive patients with International Cartilage repair Society (ICRS) grade 3-4 cartilage lesions of the ankle were included. Five million chondrocytes per cm2 of lesion were implanted using a type I/III collagen membrane as a carrier and treatment effectiveness was assessed by evaluating pain with the visual analogue scale (VAS) and American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot score at baseline, 12-month, and 24-month follow-up, together with dorsal and plantar flexion. Magnetic resonance observation for cartilage repair tissue (MOCART) score was used to evaluate cartilage healing. Histological study was possible in 5 cases. Results Patients’ median age was 31 years (range 18-55 years). Median VAS score was 8 (range 5-10) at baseline, 1.5 (range 0-8) at 12-month follow-up, and 2 (rang e0-5) at 24-month follow-up ( P < 0.001). Median AOFAS score was 39.5 (range 29-48) at baseline, 90 (range 38-100) at 12-month follow-up, and 90 (range 40-100) at 24-month follow-up ( P < 0.001). Complete dorsal flexion significantly increased at 12 months (16/24, 66.7%) and 24 months (17/24, 70.8%) with regard to baseline (13/24, 54.2%) ( P = 0.002). MOCART at 12- and 24-month follow-ups were 73.71 ± 15.99 and 72.33 ± 16.21. Histological study confirmed that neosynthetized tissue was cartilage with hyaline extracellular matrix and numerous viable chondrocytes. Conclusion HD-ACI is a safe and effective technique to treat osteochondral lesions in the talus, providing good clinical and histological results at short- and mid-term follow-ups.

The integration of photovoltaic technologies into greenhouse envelopes appears to be an innovative and environmentally-friendly way to supply their various energy demands. However, the effect on the inner growing conditions, especially on the temperature, must be assessed in order to effectively implement this solution. In this study, experimental temperature data were obtained over two years for four structures built with different photovoltaic technologies (mono-crystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, cadmium telluride, and an organic polymeric technology) and fitted to a thermal model in order to provide a comprehensive analysis of their potential utilization as a cover material in greenhouses. Additionally, the thermal effect of color in structures composed of several common construction materials (brick, wood, plasterboard and glass) was quantified and modelled, supplementing the thermal analysis of passive solutions for this application. In all cases, inner and ambient temperature differences of up to +20 &deg, C, created by a passive heating effect during the day, and &minus, 5 &deg, C, created by a passive cooling effect during the night, have been observed, suggesting the use of the photovoltaic modules with different degrees of structure coverage, complemented with the color tuning of the modules themselves as passive methods to control the temperature and light spectrum of greenhouses.

Objetivo: Identificar las publicaciones seriadas sobre enfermedad crónica avanzada y cuidados paliativos, y ordenarlas según su visibilidad e impacto. Método: Se buscaron las publicaciones seriadas que aparecen en MIAR (Matriz de Información para el Análisis de Revistas) o en Ullrichs (base de publicaciones seriadas) que trataran sobre diferentes aspectos del cuidado en enfermos terminales y crónicos avanzados. Se seleccionaron aquellas revistas que al menos estaban incluidas en bases de datos especializadas (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL y PsiCInfo) y cuyo impacto estuviera evaluado en una base de datos de citas (Journal Citation Reports o en Scopus). La selección de las revistas se hizo por al menos dos observadores, y en caso de duda se consultó la descripción de la revista (“aim and scope”). El listado final fue ordenado según el índice de visibilidad ICDS (Índice Compuesto de Difusión Secundaria). Resultados: Se recuperaron y seleccionaron 39 publicaciones seriadas, 27 indexadas en Medline, 27 en Embase, 23 en Cinahl y 14 en PsycInfo. La visibilidad fue alta (ICDS ≥ 9) en 23 revistas (59 %). Salvo dos, todas se publican en inglés. Conclusiones: La enfermedad crónica avanzada y los cuidados paliativos dispone de un repertorio bibliográfico amplio y de alta visibilidad. Este repertorio puede utilizarse en la selección de revistas a revisar en sesiones clínicas, grupos de lectura crítica, etc., y como criterio de priorización a la hora de publicar un trabajo de investigación sobre el tema. Objective: Identify serial publications on advanced chronic disease and palliative care and classify them according to visibility and impact. Methods: We looked for serial publications included in MIAR (Matrix of Information for the Analysis of Journals) or Ullrichs (serial publications catalog) that will deal with different aspects of palliative care and advanced chronic patients. We selected those journals that were at least included in specialized databases (Medline, Embase, Cinahl and PsiCInfo) and whose impact was evaluated in a citation database (Journal Citation Reports or Scopus). The selection of the magazines was made by at least two observers and in case of doubt the description of the magazine (aim and scope) was consulted. The final listing was ranked according to the ICDS (Composite Secondary Diffusion Index) visibility index. Results: We retrieved and selected 39 serials, 27 indexed in MEDLINE, 27 in EMBASE, 23 in CINAHL and 14 in PsycInfo. The visibility was high (ICDS ≥ 9) in 23 journals (59 %). Except two, all are published in English. Conclusions: Advanced chronic disease and palliative care have a broad and high-visibility bibliographic repertoire. This repertoire can be used in the selection of journals to be reviewed in clinical sessions, critical reading groups, etc. and as a criterion of prioritization when publishing a research paper on the subject.

Product Assurance is an essential activity to support the design and construction of complex instruments developed for major scientific programs. The international size of current consortia in astrophysics, the ambitious and challenging developments, make the product assurance issues very important. The objective of this paper is to focus in particular on the application of Product Assurance Activities to a project such as MOSAIC, within an international consortium. The paper will also give a general overview on main product assurance tasks to be implemented during the development from the design study to the validation of the manufacturing, assembly, integration and test (MAIT) process and the delivery of the instrument.

The third version of the High Accuracy Radial velocity Planet Searcher (HARPS3) instrument is built for a ten-year programme aimed at achieving 10 cm/sec radial velocity precision on nearby stars to search for Earth-like planets. HARPS3 will be commissioned on the to-be-roboticized 2.54-m Isaac Newton Telescope at La Palma in 2021. One of the main changes compared to its predecessors is the novel dual-beam Cassegrain focus, featuring a stabilised beam feed into the HARPS3 spectrograph and an insertable polarimetric sub-unit. This polarimetric sub-unit enables HARPS3 to directly measure stellar activity signatures, which can be useful for correcting activity-induced radial velocity jitter in the search for Earth-like planets. The sub-unit consists of superachromatic polymer quarter- and half-wave retarders for circular and linear polarizations respectively, designed to suppress polarized fringing, and a novel polarimetric beam splitter based on a wire-grid design, separating the two polarimetric beams by 30 mm and feeding two separate science fibers. The dual-beam exchange implementation in combination with the extreme stability of the HARPS3 spectrograph enables a polarimetric sensitivity of 10−5 on bright stars. One of the main challenges of such a system is in the characterization of instrumental polarization effects which limit the polarimetric accuracy of the polarimetric observing mode. By design and characterization of this subsystem and by pre-emptively mitigating possible noise sources, we can minimize the noise characteristics of the polarization sub-unit to allow for precise observations. In this paper we report on the design, realization, assembly, alignment, and testing of the polarimetric unit to be installed in the Cassegrain Adaptor Unit of the HARPS3 spectrograph

[EN] The increasing supply of videos as an online resource has changed the performance of students who study degrees based on face-to-face learning. The objectives of this paper are to elicit current preferences for different types of learning resources, especially videos, developed to teach Operations Research in Business Administration and Management degree, as well as analysing the relation between the videos use and students’ performance. The methodology is based on a survey using the Likert scale and the multicriteria method AHP. While all available resources are used to learn the subject, the results show a predominant preference for exam answers and videos, although more than one third of the students also use books and slides. Detailed exam answers improve learning and decrease tutorial appointments. There are significant differences in the use of learning resources among groups and resources affect students’ behaviour and performance. The videos with teaching modules decrease face-to-face class attendance, while the videos with interactive case studies affect performance positively. Therefore, we think that moving forward in this line would improve effective learning., [ES] La creciente oferta de videos como recurso online ha modificado el comportamiento de los alumnos que cursan titulaciones con docencia presencial. Los objetivos de este trabajo son cuantificar las preferencias actuales por los diversos tipos de materiales, y en particular los videos, elaborados para la docencia de Investigación Operativa en el Grado en Administración y Dirección de Empresas, así como analizar la relación entre el uso de videos y el rendimiento de los alumnos. La metodología se basa en una encuesta con la escala de Likert y la técnica AHP. Si bien todos los recursos disponibles se utilizan para preparar la materia, los resultados muestran una preferencia mayoritaria por los exámenes resueltos y videos, aunque más de un tercio de los alumnos también utilizan libros y presentaciones. Los exámenes resueltos mejoran el aprendizaje y reducen las tutorías. Se han encontrado diferencias significativas en el uso de los recursos por grupo y los medios utilizados también afectan al comportamiento y al rendimiento de los alumnos. Los videos con unidades didácticas reducen la asistencia a clase presencial, mientras que los videos de casos prácticos interactivos afectan positivamente al rendimiento. Por tanto, creemos que avanzar en esta última línea mejoraría el aprendizaje efectivo.

The BlackGEM Phase 1 array for optical synoptic surveys consists of three wide-field telescopes providing an 8.1 square degrees field-of-view sampled at 0.56". It will be installed at the ESO La Silla Observatory. Each unit telescope consists of a modified Dall-Kirkham (Wynne-Harmer) configuration with a 65cm parabolic primary mirror, a 23cm spherical secondary and a triplet corrector lens. The third lens in the triplet is motorized to double as an Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector. The 10cm x 10cm flat, achromatic focal plane contains a single STA1600 10.5k x 10.5k chip with 9 micron pixels, providing a 2.7 square degree field-of-view sampled at 0.56"/pix. The telescope is equipped with a 6 slot (u,g,q,r,i,z) filter wheel. Limiting magnitude (5 sigma) in dark conditions is q=23 in 300s integration in 1" seeing. The telescope structure is made from carbon-fibre for maximum stability. The secondary mirror is mounted on a piezo-stage for active control. Each telescope is mounted on the Fornax 200 mount. On La Silla each telescope will be housed in a clamshell dome, and be located on a 7m high double-walled cylinder to lift it above the ground-layer seeing. The outer cylinder will carry the dome and the inner cylinder the telescope. The scientific program of BlackGEM is centered on optical afterglows of gravitational wave mergers, reacting to Advanced LIGO/Virgo triggers. The array will also perform a full southern sky survey (BG-SASS), covering 30000 square degrees (Dec < +30d) down to 22nd magnitude in all six filters at 1" resolution; a fast synoptic survey at 1 minute cadence for characterization of fast transients; bi-weekly all-sky q-band scan; and a twilight survey of the local universe. The BlackGEM consortium consists of the Netherlands Research School for Astronomy (NOVA), Radboud University and KU Leuven as founding members and the University of Manchester, UC Davis, Tel Aviv University, the Weizmann Institute, the University of Canterbury and the Hebrew University Jerusalem as partners. BlackGEM data will be processed on-line for transients and a full-source database using optimal photometry and the ZOGY image subtraction techniques. BlackGEM transients will be announced publically upon detection. All BlackGEM data will be cloud-based, including the 150Tb live database of the full source photometry. BlackGEM Phase 1 is scheduled for installation on La Silla in Q2-Q3 2018 and start of operations of in Q4 2018. In Phase 2 (2019-2022) the array is to be expanded to 15 unit telescopes, providing a 40.5 square degree instantaneous field-of-view. Background Measuring humanistic outcomes is an important component of valuating healthcare services. There is a paucity of data on satisfaction with pharmacist implemented clinical services in long-term care settings. Objective To evaluate patient and health professional (HP) satisfaction with an interdisciplinary patient safety program performed in elderly patients with polypharmacy admitted to a long-term care hospital (LTCH). Method An interventional, longitudinal, prospective study was conducted in a Spanish LTCH. Pharmacist conducted the pharmacotherapy follow-up (reconciliation, pharmacotherapeutic optimization and educational interviews). Two satisfaction surveys were designed on a 10-point Likert-type scale. The patient survey was administered at discharge. The HP survey included the following dimensions: knowledge and program importance, pharmacist skills and pharmacist contributions to the interdisciplinary team. A reliability analysis was performed. Results 123 surveys were completed and returned; 74 patient surveys (response rate 97.4%) and 49 HP surveys (response rate 98.0%). The overall mean score of the patient survey was 9.46 +/- 0.87, resulting in 82.4% very satisfied and 17.6% satisfied. The overall mean score of the HP survey was 8.85 +/- 1.42, resulting in 65.3% very satisfied and 30.6% satisfied. Conclusion Elderly patients with polypharmacy and HPs reported high levels of satisfaction with the interdisciplinary patient safety program implemented in an LTCH. This positive response supports the value of pharmacists for managing older high-risk populations.
