A simple and efficient protocol has been established to the synthesis of 3,4-disubstituted isoxazol-5(4H)-ones via Knoevenagel condensation reaction. In this synthesis, succinic acid was used as an inexpensive catalyst and water as a green reaction medium. This method is useful for the preparat ion of various derivatives of 3,4-disubstituted isoxazol-5(4H)-ones in excellent yields.

The total synthesis of the nonenolide xyolide is described as a convergent synthesis in 16 steps from the commercially available starting material butane-1,4-diol. The key reactions involved are: Sharpless­ asymmetric epoxidation, Pinnick oxidation, acid-mediated nucleophilic regioselective epoxide ring opening, Steglich esterification, and ring-closing metathesis.

A straightforward strategy for the stereoselective synthesis of (+)-bovidic acid has been developed in eleven steps with an overall yield of 8.85%. The synthesis started from commercially available nonanal, and the key reactions involved were Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation, Grignard reaction, and CoreyBakshiShibata reduction.

In the synthesis, the reaction of 1,2-phenylenediamines and phenacyl bromide were carried out using pyridine as a catalyst in THF at room temperature to give quinoxalines. This method is applicable to a variety of substrates to afford the corresponding derivatives in excellent yields.

The enantioselective synthesis of oxylipin-3 has been carried out. The synthetic strategy was started from commercially available n-decanal. The chiral source was based on Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation and CBS reduction.

A variety of α-bromoketones undergoes smooth condensation with thiourea/ thioamide compounds to afford the corresponding substituted thiazole derivatives in excellent yields. The condensation reactions were carried out in a recyclable reaction medium glycerin without using any catalyst. All the reactions were completed within 2 hours of reaction time at room temperature.

An efficient and straightforward stereoselective synthesis of α,β-unsaturated lactone (1) cleistenolide is described. The synthesis was started from commercially available d-tartaric acid and completed within 13 steps with an overall yield of 7.92%. The cis-olefin was generated from Still–Gennari protocol and one of the hydroxyl groups was from dihydroxylation methodology. All the reactions were very clean and the products were obtained in very good yields.
