Tb3+, Eu3+ -doped MAlO3(M=La,Y) powder nano phosphors have been prepared at furnace temperatures of 900 °C for LaAlO3 and 1100°C for YAlO3 by using a low cost synthesis technique named polyol method. Powder X-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry measurements were used to characterize the as-prepared samples, while the optical properties were studied using UV–Vis spectroscopy. XRD reports confirm the cubic, orthorhombic phases of LaAlO3 and YAlO3 respectively. The absorption peak in the range 450–800 cm-1 is due to Al−O stretching in LaAlO3, bands in that region are corresponding to stretching vibration modes of metal–oxygen bonds (Al–O and Y–O). It was observed that the band-to-band absorption of LaAlO3 and YAlO3 host is about 220 nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Incorporation of 2d Graphene and its inorganic analogues, such as: Boron Nitride, Borocarbonitrides, few layered transition metal carbides and carbonitrides, Transition Metal Double Layer Oxides, Transition Metal Double Layer Hydroxides, Transition Metal Layer Dichalcogenides etc as potential electrodes for the development of Supercapacitors with myriad electrochemical performance has drawn a great deal of attention in materials science and various allied fields. This paper provides an overview on the possibilities and challenges in the realization of a novel hybrid Supercapacitor with the electrodes fabricated from a stacked multilayered Graphene with a semiconducting layer of Bi2Te3, also a Topological Insulator (TI) as an intervening layer, along with 2-Dimensional Transition Metal DiChalcogenides (TMDs) as top and bottom Layers. Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nano particles were prepared by using the sol-gel technique. The materials used for the synthesis were Zinc Acetate Dihydrate (Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O) and SDS (sodium dodecyl sulphate) (C12H25NaO4S). Ethanol was used as solvent. The obtained nano powder was characterized using X-ray diffraction, Uv-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, FESEM, EDAX and ESR. The absorbance and band gap were analyzed by using Uv-Vis spectroscopy. Electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra study was analyzed at room temperature. ZnO have the properties like high thermal conductivity, binding energy, high refractive index and have the applications in materials and products like solar cells, medicine, cosmetics. A new type of nickel metal hydride batteries have been developed for backup power supply system. The prepared grid power energy system has high capacity for backup use and also provides a backup power time to the systems up to 13 hours at 21 °C under 210-VA output power. The average power of the system increases up to 16 W. The grid power source stabilized at 3x109 cycles with the increase of frequency. The external energy source of the grid power system increases up to 4 J. Thus it can be used as a promising outdoor power supply for electronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
