In the present exploration, entropy production on hydromagnetic pulsating flow of Au + SWCNT/blood and Au + MWCNT/blood-based Jeffrey hybrid nanofluid in a vertical porous channel with Cattaneo-Christov theory has been inspected. The impacts of Ohmic heating, viscous dissipation, and thermal radiation are considered. The transformation of the governing partial differential equations into a system of ordinary differential equations is made by applying the perturbation method and then numerically solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method aided by bvp4c shooting technique built-in MATLAB software. The effects of various emerging parameters and variables on velocity, temperature, entropy generation, and the Bejan number are displayed through graphs. The consequences of physical parameters on heat transfer rate are prearranged in a table. This analysis demonstrates that the velocity of both hybrid nanofluids is intensified with an upsurge in the Grashof number, while it is decreasing by giving higher values in an applied magnetic field. The temperature of both hybrid nanofluids increases with an increment in the radiation parameter, and Eckert number. The entropy generation is an increasing function of Eckert number and radiation parameter. The heat transfer rate has a higher impact in the case of (Au + MWCNT/blood) hybrid nanofluid as compared to (Au + SWCNT/blood) hybrid nanofluid and mono nanofluid. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aims to study theoretically the combined magneto hydrodynamic flows of casson viscoplastic nanofluid from a horizontal isothermal circular cylinder in non-Darcy porous medium. The impacts of Brownian motion and thermophoresis are consolidated and studied. The governing partial differential equations are converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equations using suitable non-similarity transformation and are solved numerically using Keller-Box finite difference technique. The numerical method is validated with previous published work and the results are found to be in excellent agreement. Numerical results for velocity, temperature, concentration along with skin friction coefficient, heat and mass transfer rate are discussed for various values of physical parameters. It is observed that velocity, heat and mass transfer rate are increased with increasing casson fluid parameter whereas temperature, concentration and skin friction are decreased. Velocity is reduced with increasing Forchheimer parameter whereas temperature and nano-particle concentration are both enhanced. An increase in magnetic parameter is seen to increase temperature and concentration whereas velocity, skin friction heat and mass transfer rate are decreased. The present model finds applications in electric-conductive nano-materials of potential use in aviation and different enterprises, energy systems and thermal enhancement of industrial flow processes.

A mathematical model is developed to study laminar, nonlinear, non-isothermal, steady-state free convection boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a micropolar viscoelastic fluid from a vertical isothermal cone. The Eringen model and Jeffery’s viscoelastic model are combined to simulate the non-Newtonian characteristics of polymers, which constitutes a novelty of the present work. The transformed conservation equations for linear momentum, angular momentum and energy are solved numerically under physically viable boundary conditions using a finite difference scheme (Keller Box method). The effects of Deborah number (De), Eringen vortex viscosity parameter (R), ratio of relaxation to retardation times (λ), micro-inertia density parameter (B), Prandtl number (Pr) and dimensionless stream wise coordinate (ξ) on velocity, surface temperature and angular velocity in the boundary layer regime are evaluated. The computations show that with greater ratio of retardation to relaxation times, the linear and angular velocity are enhanced whereas temperature (and also thermal boundary layer thickness) is reduced. Greater values of the Eringen parameter decelerate both the linear velocity and micro-rotation values and enhance temperatures. Increasing Deborah number decelerates the linear flow and Nusselt number whereas it increases temperatures and boosts micro-rotation magnitudes. The study is relevant to non-Newtonian polymeric thermal coating processes.

In this article, we study the nonlinear steady thermal convection of an incompressible third-grade non-Newtonian fluid from a horizontal circular cylinder. The transformed conservation equations are solved numerically subject to physically appropriate boundary conditions using a second-order accurate implicit finite-differences Keller Box technique. The influence of a number of emerging non-dimensional parameters, namely the third-grade fluid parameter (ϕ), the material fluid parameters (ϵ1, ϵ2), Prandtl number (Pr), Biot number (y), thermal radiation (F) and dimensionless tangential coordinate (ξ) on velocity and temperature evolution in the boundary layer regime are examined in detail. Furthermore, the effects of these parameters on surface heat transfer rate and local skin friction are also investigated. Validation with earlier Newtonian studies is presented and excellent correlation is achieved. It is found that the velocity, skin friction and Nusselt number (heat transfer rate) reduce with increasing third grade fluid parameter (ϕ), whereas the temperature is enhanced. Increasing material fluid parameter (ϵ1) reduces the velocity and heat transfer rate but enhances the temperature and skin friction. The study is relevant to chemical materials processing applications and low density polymer materials processing.

In this paper, the influence of mixed convection in a porous square enclosure under the effect of radiation is numerically examined. The top and bottom walls are maintained at uniform temperature θc while some portion of the vertical walls is partially heated with temperature θh and rest of the vertical walls are thermally insulated, with θh > θc. The non-dimensional governing equations are solved by MAC (Marker and Cell) method. The effect of various parameters (thermal Grashof number, Darcy number, Prandtl number, Reynolds number) on flow patterns and heat transfer has been presented.

AbstractThis article presents both a theoretical and a numerical analysis of thermo-gravitational magnetic convection in electro-conductive Eringen micropolar fluids in a two-dimensional enclosure. The computational regime is bound with cold top, hot bottoms, and adiabatic side walls. The governing equations were transformed via scaled variables into dimensionless partial differential equations. A Finite volume method (FVM) is used to get a solution of the computational regime. Validation of the FVM solutions is included for non-magnetic special case from the literature. Streamline contours, isotherm contours, iso-microrotation contours (lines of constant angular velocity) and local Nusselt number at the left hot wall is depicted graphically for the impact of Hartmann (magnetic) number (Ha), Prandtl number (Pr), micropolar parameter (K) and Rayleigh number (Ra). A significant modification in internal circulation and micro-rotation in addition to temperature distribution is observed with increasing vortex viscosity parameter. Significant warping of isotherms is induced with stronger magnetic field and the mushroom-shaped core structure encountered at weak magnetic field transitions to a sigmoidal topology. AbstractEnclosures that contain both fluid and porous regions are utilized in various industries and geophysical processes to enhance heat and mass transfer. These enclosures find applications in fields such as geothermal engineering, drying of porous solids, cooling of electronics, metal solidification, and many others. In line with the motivation behind these applications, the present study explores double diffusion in the naturally convective flow of water-based nano fluid saturated in the trapezoidal porous enclosure and containing Copper (Cu) nano particles. The impact of uniformly applied radiative heat flux and nano particle shape factor is also accounted. A numerical investigation was carried out using a finite difference methodology integrated into a computational MATLAB code for numerical simulation. The simulation aimed to study the effect of nanoparticle shape factor on the effectiveness of a porous medium, which is exposed to two distinct objectives: enhancing heat transfer and optimizing mass transfer within a fluid-saturated porous medium. This research conducts a meticulous parametric exploration, underscoring the pivotal roles played by Darcy number (Da), nanofluid shape factor (m), Rayleigh number (Ra), thermal radiation (Rd), buoyancy ratio (Nr), and Lewis number (Le) in shaping the dynamics of flow, heat, and concentration transfer. The analysis of Nusselt and Sherwood numbers reveals that changing the shape of nano-particles from spheres to bricks increases the heat flux and mass flux coefficients by approximately 0.33% and 1.37% respectively. The results show a significant increase in Nusselt and Sherwood numbers, with blade-shaped nanoparticles demonstrating approximately a 2.97% and 10.82% improvement, respectively, compared to sphere-shaped nanoparticles. The outcome of this analysis yields an exhaustive dataset encompassing Nusselt and Sherwood numbers can be written as mathematical functions based on the parameters we talked about earlier. The laminar boundary layer flow and heat transfer of Casson non-Newtonian fluid from a semi-infinite vertical plate in the presence of thermal and hydrodynamic slip conditions is analyzed. The plate surface is maintained at a constant temperature. Increasing velocity slip induces acceleration in the flow near the plate surface and the reverse effect further from the surface. Increasing velocity slip consistently enhances temperatures throughout the boundary layer regime. An increase in thermal slip parameter strongly decelerates the flow and also reduces temperatures in the boundary layer regime. An increase in the Casson rheological parameter acts to elevate considerably the skin friction (non-dimensional wall shear stress) and this effect is pronounced at higher values of tangential coordinate. Temperatures, however, are very slightly decreased with increasing values of Casson rheological parameter. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Furthermore, the effects of these parameters on surface heat transfer rate, mass transfer rate, and local skin friction are also investigated. It is found that the velocity is reduced with increasing Deborah number whereas temperature and concentration are enhanced. Increasing λ enhances the velocity but reduces the temperature and concentration. The heat transfer rate and mass transfer rates are found to be depressed with increasing Deborah number, De, and enhanced with increasing λ. Local skin friction is found to be decreased with a rise in Deborah number whereas it is elevated with increasing λ.
