The Bias Assessment Done For The Article Was Based On The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale.Results: Overall Analysis Of The Studies Shows That The Prevalence Of Oral Cancer In Tamil Nadu Has Been Significantly IncreasingAnd That Smokeless Tobacco Causes Oral Cancer Compared With Other Forms Of Tobacco.Conclusion: The Prevalence Of Oral Cancer In Tamil Nadu Is Increasing Significantly With The Usage Of The Increased Amount OfTobacco, And Awareness Of The Ill Effects Of Tobacco Usage May Considerably Decrease The Rates.

The Aim of this systematic review was to assess the effect of single tooth implant using titanium abutment material. A systematic review was conducted based on literature search in the databases PubMed, Wiley online library, Cochrane library, Elsevier science direct, Prospero, Scopus, Ovid Medicine, Grey literature using the search keywords (single tooth implant) AND (stability) AND (titanium abutment). Randomised controlled trials investigating the effect of titanium implant and further followed by Cochrane database bias assessment was done. Four randomised controlled trials were included and after discussed, the result of p value is not significant in effect of single tooth implant using titanium abutment material. For implant-supported SCs, both metal and ceramic abutments with internal and external connections exhibited high survival rates. Moreover, implant-supported FDPs with metal abutments with internal and external connections for also showed high survival rates.

Background: Dental caries is a serious public health problem in developed as well as developing nations, with high prevalence among children around the world. This systematic review of literature was undertaken to document the prevalence of dental caries. Aims and Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the prevalence of dental caries among children of aged 6-12 years in Tamilnadu by conducting a systematic review. Materials and Method: Studies evaluating the prevalence of dental caries among children of aged 6-12 years in the Tamilnadu were investigated. An extensive literature search was done in the following databases: Prospero, Grey literature, Science Direct, Cochrane library, Wiley online library, Lilacs and PubMed. The articles were retrieved from each database based on the MeSH representation. A modified version of the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for cross-sectional studies was used for assessment of the quality of the studies. A systematic literature search yielded 1034 publications from the various databases searched. According to the Preferred Reporting Items for systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final number of included studies was fifteen. Results: Among the included studies, five studies were carried out in the Chennai district. Erode district was found to have the highest prevalence of dental caries at 89.3%. Conclusion: This review has reported a high prevalence of dental caries in Tamilnadu. None of the states reported prevalence below 30%. Aim: To evaluate the oral health impact profile and its relationship with their oral health status among beautician cohorts. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted among 147 beauticians using a simple random sampling technique. The subjects would be taken from the Porur area those who were working in the beauty parlour as a beautician. An individual interview was held, and they got a dental check-up. Oral health status was measured by WHO Proforma 2013 modification. Oral health quality of life was assessed by oral health impact profile (OHIP-14) questionnaire. Sociodemographic data were collected and questions regarding oral hygiene measures and habits. As for data analysis, chi-square test was utilized. Results: All scores showed associations with self-rated oral health quality of life and dissatisfaction with oral health status .The dentition status and gingivitis showed statistically significant with oral health impact profile (OHIP-14) Conclusion: The study reveals that the impact of oral health does not have association with oral health problems, whereas perceived satisfaction with oral health has a better association with clinical indicators. We should motivate the oral hygiene practices among beautician cohorts. Aim: This study aimed to calculate the scientific output of researchers in selected branches of dentistry using h-index and scientific quality index. Methodology: Data were retrieved from the google scholar (2013-2018) in the eight departments of dentistry. The professors from the faculty of dentistry were randomly selected and among the scientific data were collected by the tool together with year of publication, number of citations, number of published papers, number of paper cited more than 10 times. It was analyzed by the H-index and newly proposed scientific quality index (SQI). Results: The SQI expresses mainly the qualitative features of scientific output, whereas the H-index is more influenced by its quantitative measures. Conclusion: The SQI might be considered as a novel marker of scientific yield quality, though the h-index is more grounded controlled by quantitative measures. Hair restoration surgery is a surgical solution for hair loss which offers natural results in recent times. There is a controversy amongst various streams of doctors of whom should perform hair restoration surgery.  Aim: The ultimate goal of this study was to know the perception of medical and dental professionals on hair restoration surgery performed by dentist.  Method And Methodology: A Cross sectional study was conducted among 101 medical and dental professionals. A self-validated questionnaire was used which includes knowledge-based questions. The content validation of the questionnaire was done by 3 dental professionals in the department of public health dentistry. This questionnaire was distributed among various professionals. Descriptive statistics were performed for all variables collected. Chi square test was done to find the association between the sex and their perception, association between the speciality and their perception and association between the location of practice and their perception.  Result: As per Contemporary study, 51.50% of the participants agreed that dental surgeon can perform hair transplantation surgery. Thymus vulgaris has been used to achieve healing, cure chest congestion, and induce saliva since ancient times. The fresh leaves are consumed to relieve sore throats and are traditionally used for numerous skin conditions like oily skin, acne, dermatitis, eczema, and insect bites. It is known to have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant effects, extensively researched in recent years.  Aim: To determine the effectiveness of Thymus Vulgaris in Candida Albicans.  Study Design: A systematic review of In vitro study using Vulgaris as an effective agent against Candida Albicans. Electronic databases were searched, and 297 articles were obtained, among which four studies were included in this study.  Result: Four studies were included in the systematic review, of which all are in vitro studies. All the studies describe that Thymus Vulgaris has antifungal activity against Candida Albicans.  Conclusion: Thymus Vulgaris has antifungal activity against Candida Albicans and is used for numerous skin conditions like oily skin, acne, dermatitis, eczema, and insect bites

Materials and Method: The data retrieved from various electronic databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, Cochrane library and other sources regarding individual income tax, allocation of GDP for health sector and the out-of-pocket expenditure of the public for the health sector among top ten GDP countries. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Results: Though India ranks the fifth place in GDP, it spends only 1.4% of GDP on the health sector, which was very low when compared to top GDP countries, so the public spends more out of pocket for the health sector (67.78%), which forcibly pushes them into poverty. Conclusion: The Government should make more effort and should allot more amount of GDP for the health sector in future for the beneficiaries of people.

Xerostomia is also known as dry mouth. Dry mouth is one of the major discomforts seen in the oral cavity and can be compromised by dietary intake and quality of life. Chewing gum plays a role in saliva substitutes and is soft and sticky while chewing. The aim is to evaluate the impact of chewing gum on xerostomia by conducting a systematic review. A systematic review was selected based on a literature search using the search engine database by appropriate MeSH terms and further followed by Cochrane database bias assessment were done by PRISMA guidelines. Four randomised controlled studies were included. Among those four studies, the pvalue is significant on the effectiveness of chewing gum in relieving pain and has increased saliva secretion in the mouth. Chewing gum has an advantage in saliva substitutes, relieving pain and discomfort in the oral cavity. While chewing the chewing gum, it has an adequate secretion of saliva to wet the oral cavity or mouth. Hence, there is a significant pain reduction in the use of chewing gum to relieve or alleviate in xerostomia patients.

The aim of this study is to analyze Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI) and Facial Aesthetic Index (FAI) among the native diverse group distributed over the southern part of India – Malayalam along with Tamil speaking groups. A cross sectional survey was conducted among one hundred and ninety eight individual samples was collected in the study. DAI was evaluated according to 10 occlusal characteristics and the final DAI score which determined severity and treatment needed cases. Chi square test was done to find the association between age, gender, FAI and DAI among Malayali & Tamilian population. The result implies that more than 70 percentage of both population belong to the category where “no treatment need or slight need”. The people belonging to “DAI 26-30” were ranging from 8-12% in both Populations. The present study finding revealed that the people belonging to DAI 31-35 were ranging from 5- 10% in both groups. The association between the Malayalam and Tamil speaking population for DAI was recorded and found to be p value of 0.368 which was statistically insignificant. The association between the Malayalam and Tamil speaking population for facial aesthetic index was done and found to obtain a p-value of 0.647 which was statistically insignificant. According to the severity level they were grouped under normal or minor malocclusion (Malayali -78.8%, Tamilian -82.8%). Facial Aesthetic Index was found to have class A type in both Malayalam and Tamil speaking population which was found to be 70.7% and 78%.

It is a form of alternative therapy that uses laser light at low levels. The light is used in the surface skin to reduce pain, swelling, wound healing and prevent the damage of tissues and nerves. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy on stability of dental implants. A systematic review was conducted based on literature search in the databases PubMed, Wiley online library, Cochrane library, Elsevier science direct, Prospero, Scopus, Ovid Medicine, Grey literature using the search keywords ( low level laser) AND (stability) AND (dental implants). Randomised controlled trials investigating the effect of low-level laser therapy and further followed by Cochrane database bias assessment was done. Five randomised controlled trials were included and after discussed, the result of p value is not significant in low level laser therapy on stability of dental implants. There is a positive relationship between the use of low-level laser therapy in the wound healing process and has no positive effect on the stability of dental implants.

Flash-free adhesives, as an alternative to the process of Flash cleanup, which used to be a major part of conventional adhesive applications, apart from being an additive step, also tend to leave uneven clumps with the need for extreme technical expertise.To establish the status of Flash-free adhesives as an alternative to conventional adhesive systems for Orthodontic brackets. A literature search was performed using PubMed, Google scholar, Science direct, Lilacs and Grey literature using MeSH terms- Flash-free adhesives, Orthodontic brackets, fixed appliances. Out of 91 articles, 30 full-text articles were assessed for eligibility, and then four were taken for systematic review. This review was then reported according to the PRISMA guidelines. While compared to conventional adhesives, Flash-free adhesives are more effective in treating orthodontic brackets because of a reduction in the accumulation of plaque control and demineralization. The study concludes that it reduces the extent of accumulation of plaque control by eliminating excess adhesive and reducing bracket failures. The use of flashfree adhesives is more effective in the treatment of orthodontic brackets.

Hypersensitivity is the most common adverse effect of vital tooth bleaching. To overcome this, a lot of desensitising agents are introduced. casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPPACP) is a milk- derived complex that causes demineralisation of tooth structure. To assess the efficacy of casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP)in treating the hypersensitivity associated with vital tooth bleaching.A systematic review was performed using electronic databases like PubMed, science direct, Wiley online library, lilacs and google scholar using certain keywords. Out of 265 articles, five articles were related to the research topic. The review is described according to the PRISMA guidelines.CPPACP is more effective in the treatment of sensitive teeth with vital tooth bleaching. The study concludes that casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate complex (CPP-ACP) has the ability to reduce the postoperative sensitivity caused by at-home and in-office vital tooth bleaching without affecting the colour stability of the bleached tooth.
