In times of increasing awareness of sustainability and the need for efficient business processes, this study explores the integration of business process reengineering with circular economy principles within Serbian manufacturing organizations. Addressing the need for sustainable development, the research aims to propose and validate a model that harmonizes business process reengineering with the circular economy to improve environmental and organizational performance. The study conducted an extensive survey and analysis across 135 manufacturing organizations in Serbia, assessing their readiness and current practices in adopting circular economy strategies through business process reengineering, utilizing the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model. The findings reveal a moderate level of integration, with an average implementation score of 44.70% across surveyed organizations. Notably, organizations with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications demonstrated higher levels of model implementation. The study highlights the potential of integrating business process reengineering with circular economy principles as a path to sustainable manufacturing. It also highlights the need for targeted strategies to improve management commitment, resource allocation, and participation in sustainable practices. The research contributes valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and academic discourse, advocating for a more systematic approach to embedding circular economy principles within organizational processes for a sustainable future. In this study, the effect of Cd on the germination, growth of seedlings and composition of plants deriving from contaminated grains, grown in the field, was examined. Wheat grains were soaked in Cd-containing solutions: 0 (control, deionized water), 10-5, 10-4, 10-3, and 10-2 M CdCl2 during 24h. One portion of grains was used to test germination and seedling growth, while the other was sown in the field. The concentration of Cd in the grains almost linearly increased with the increase in the applied concentrations of Cd, which reduced the germination and energy of germination and increased the proportion of atypical seedlings. Larger concentrations of Cd significantly impaired the growth of seedlings (length of the shoots and roots, dry matter mass). In the grains of the field-grown plants the concentrations of N, P, and K were not affected by Cd, but their concentrations in the straw declined (especially of N). These results suggest that the emergence and development of plants on the soil polluted by Cd are likely to be significantly limited and yield reduced. This work identifies lighting as a non-invasive method for the transformation of a space that simultaneously and unconstructively articulates various activities and does not interfere with the inherited physical framework. Through experimental research and a case study of the "Eastern City Gate of Belgrade" housing settlement in Serbia, which was designed and built in the second half of the 20th century, the activity rhythm of a contemporary user is explored. The research goal was to recognise the decision-making tools for increasing the quality of open public spaces during the night-time mode of use by improving the quality of lighting. The study proposes the new lighting design model that supports night-time leisure activities in mass housing open public spaces in the contemporary urban context.

- Abstract
Boilers are one of the most used units for both heat generation plants and industry systems. Their operation is subjected to different working loads and maintenance requirements. Exploitation experience points out critical boiler zones where failures and break downs typically occur. This paper analyzes critical zones in hot water fire-tube boiler. Experimental procedure was performed on the model of this type of boilers and its critical element. The tube plate of hot water boiler was identified as the most critical one. Experimental analysis and numerical model verification were performed using Aramis system based on 3-D digital image correlation method. Numerical analysis was done in ANSYS software package and verification of results was done based on measurements obtained by strain gauges and local measurements performed by the Aramis system. Stress-strain analysis indicates the critical zones of boiler tube plate. The character of change parameters such as strain and stress occurring in the critical zones can be verified both by experimental and numerical data. The paper presents a novel approach in experimental and numerical analyses that can be conducted in similar units and used for existing unit optimization, as well as for new product testing on different loads and provide opportunity for further development and improvement for practical industrial application.

The subject of scientific research is hot water fire-tube boilers with a regular and screened reversing chamber. In addition to nominal operating mode, transient operating modes are analyzed, as well as one of the most important transient operating regimes – boiler start-up. The effects of various phenomena which may have impact on boiler safety, reduction of its reliability and its opearting life, are also analysed. The effects of the following phenomena are presented: deposits on fire tube and smoke pipes, thickness of the wall carring pipes of the first reflecting chamber, electrochemical corrosion, stress corrosion, fatigue and creep. Scientific methods of mathemnatical-numerical analysis with application of Ansys software package as well as experimental methods on a real object and minimized boiler model are applied in the research. Operational experiences indicate failures during operation, which represent a consequence of conditions with parameters that are higher than allowed. If such occurs, the security protection system should react in a timely manner and prevent accidents. However, emergency conditions are also possible due to fatigue of the materials of certain elements of the boiler, whose service life is shortened, due to constant exposure to high pressures and stresses. The hot water boiler structure is exposed not only to high pressures but also to high temperatures, which is why thermal stresses are dominant in those elements of the boiler with thicker walls. Thermal stresses are highest at the largest temperature gradients, which occur at variable operating modes. Therefore, the emphasis of this paper is on the variable operating modes of the hot water boiler and their impact on the structure.

Regional training course on therapeutic nuclear medicine was held in Romania in 2002, in the organization of International Atomic Energy Agency. The program covered several topics from oncology, with great attention paid to the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer, lymphoma, inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma, neuroendocrine tumors and bone pain caused by metastases. Usage of new radionuclides was also promoted with the aim to improve therapy with open sources of radioactivity. Particular attention was paid to the outcome of high and small dose of radioactive iodine (131I) for remnant ablation, to the use of recombinant human TSH in postoperative follow-up, and to radionuclide therapy for non-iodine concentrating thyroid cancers. A new radiopharmaceutical, 188Re (188rhenium)-lipiodol, already used to treat 30 patients, was promoted and pointed to developing of other radioagents for the cure of inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma. Because the treatment of lymphoma with radiolabeled antibodies was proved as successful it was noted that approach could become an important part of therapeutic nuclear medicine over the next couple of years. Targeting therapy for bone pain palliation was shown as relatively cheap and successful, but future possibilities should integrate the use of bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals at an earlier stage in patients at high risk for developing metastases to avoid their occurrence. This training course pointed out some new radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides, which predict a further rapid development of therapeutic nuclear medicine and its deeper integration in protocols for the treatment of patients with malignant diseases.

The aim of this paper is to determine the influence of Ki-67 proliferation index on somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (SSRS) with Tc-99m-EDDA-HYNIC-TOC (Tc-99m-Tektrotyd) somatostatin analogue in patients with carcinoid tumors. Sixty-one patients (31 female, 30 male; age range: 33-76 years) were examined: 13 patients highly suspected of having a carcinoid, and 48 patients who had undergone the surgical removal of the tumor. Whole body SSRS at 4 h postinjection, spot scintigrams and SPECT of the selected regions were obtained for all patients. Tc-99m-Tektrotyd scintigraphy was classified as true positive in 26 out of 30 and true negative in 24 out of 28 patients. The sensitivity of Tc-99mTc-Tektrotyd scintigraphy was found to be as high as 94.74% in the group of patients with low mitotic index Ki67 (20%). The likelihood of Tc-99m-Tektrotyd scan being positive when a carcinoid is present was found to be inversely proportional to the value of Ki67 proliferation index. The results showed that Tc-99m-Tektrotyd SSRS is a sensitive method for diagnosing and staging patients with well-differentiated carcinoid tumors. However, in poorly differentiated tumors with high Ki67 proliferation index, additional analyses are necessary for precise staging.

- Abstract
The aim of the paper is to investigate the transient regime of hot water boiler numerically and experimentally. In the regime of starting up, as the most critical one, measurements were done on the boiler critical element. The operating characteristics as well as safe and reliable operation conditions of hot water boilers are limited by thermal stresses that occur in their structure. The greatest thermal stresses occur in transient operating regimes such as starting-up, changing operation mode or sudden shutdown, resulting in uneven heating or cooling of boiler elements. Large temperature gradients cause high thermal stresses that are especially critical in elements with thick walls. As thermal stresses may limit the heating and cooling rates of temperature changes, boiler structure is exposed to variable temperature and stress field. The largest absolute value of thermal stresses occurs at the inner surface, where direct measurements are not possible to take, since the inner surface is in direct contact with hot water under high pressure. This was the reason to measure the temperature of boiler structure inside the boiler, on tube plate, as one of the critical part of the boiler. In this paper the experimental results of temperature measurement of tube plate were presented, during the regime of starting-up. Numerical model done by FEM was verified by experimental results. The performed analysis showed that the tube plate of the first reversing chamber, the boiler element with the thickest wall, is exposed to the highest thermal stresses. This part of the boiler is exposed to temperatures t>500 ℃ and it is exposed to creep. In conditions of creep, continuous accumulation of plastic deformations occurs at a rate that depends on the level of stress, temperature and material characteristics.

- Abstract
Hot water boilers, especially boilers with fire tube where the combustion takes place, are widely used in process industry. Elements of the boiler are exposed to high pressures and temperatures during boiler operation. Exploitation experience indicates constant and permanent breakdowns occurring as a result of accidental states of individual boiler elements. Studies done before in this field indicate certain critical boiler elements that may have influence on the reliability and safety of the entire unit. In order to avoid this state, certain investigation should be made that would examine the influence of different regimes on the boiler structure. Lack of available data concerning the temperature as well as stress-strain field in boiler elements led us to perform such kind of experiment. This paper presents results of numerical analysis performed on the modelled boiler. Validation of the numerical model was performed based on experimental results obtained using 3D Digital Image Correlation analysis. This paper analyses critical elements of the hot water boiler by experimental data obtained from its model and improved numerical model in order to analyze constrains and loads the model is exposed to and to have fully-covered stress-strain field obtained from experimental data.

- Abstract
In this study, the effect of Cd on the germination, growth of seedlings and composition of plants deriving from contaminated grains, grown in the field, was examined. Wheat grains were soaked in Cd-containing solutions: 0 (control, deionized water), 10-5 , 10-4 , 10-3 , and 10-2 M CdCl 2 during 24h. These results suggest that the emergence and development of plants on the soil polluted by Cd are likely to be significantly limited and yield reduced., Kadmijum (Cd) je potencijalni zagađivač sredine živih organizama i pri većim koncentracijama odlikuje se jakim fitotoksičnim dejstvom.

The aim of our report is to demonstrate the complementary roles of bone scintigraphy (BS), magnetic resonance imaging (MR), and positron emission tomography using 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose (F-18-FDG PET/CT) in the diagnosis and treatment monitoring of a child with primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of bone (PLB). Increased blood flow, high tissue accumulation, and markedly increased uptake on the late BS pointed toward an active bone process in the left femoral region. Bone marrow infiltration of the left femur and cortical sclerosis, which were both demonstrated by MR imaging, were later confirmed as PLB by bone marrow biopsy. The normalizations of the flow and tissue phases of BS a year after treatment and during the entire follow-up were in keeping with inactive disease and clinical remission. However, even 8 years after treatment and complete remission, MR imaging demonstrated persistent unmodified bone marrow alteration and appreciable cortical involvement. A slightly increased metabolic activity of the left femoral epiphysis demonstrated by F-18-FDG PET/CT and mild activity in the same region on delayed BS were demonstrated in the late follow-up. Our results strongly suggest that BS and MR imaging should be included in the diagnostic algorithm of children with undefined bone symptoms. However, mild metabolic activity on the F-18-FDG PET/CT scan could not reliably differentiate between the presence or absence of disease in a patient with PLB in clinical remission.

- Abstract
Produžavanje preživljavanja se može postići identifikacijom visoko-rizičnih pacij, Colorectal carcinoma represents the third most common malignant tumor in both men and women in developed world and the third leading cause of cancer-related death [1]. Despite the advances in surgical treatment and introduction of combined therapeutical modalities, 5 years survival rarely exceeds 60%, varying from 90% in localized disease to 11% in patients with spread to distant organs. Between 55% and 80% of patients will develop recurrence, with isolated hepatic recurrence initially occuring in approximately 30% of patients. Overall, liver metastases represent leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality in colorectal cancer. At present, whole-body fluorine-18-fluoro-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT) is an advanced diagnostic imaging technique in detecting loco-regional recurrence and metastases in postoperative patients with colorectal carcinoma for its higher sensitivity and specificity. However, other authors reported on lower sensitivity and specificity of FDG PET/CT compared to multi-detector computerized tomography (MDCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MR) in detection of liver metastases. Current guidelines for managing patients with CRC after therapy recommend regular measurements of serum carcinoembryogenic antigen (CEA) and imaging tests. CEA, although sensitive in detecting early relapse, gives very often a false-positive result. The role of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9) in detection of recurrent CRC is still unclear, although there have been studies suggesting its potential prognostic significance. In contrast to MDCT and MR, which use anatomic parameters (lesion size) to evaluate therapy outcome, FDG PET/CT quantifies functional change, a better predictor to disease development according to some authors. The improvement of survival in patients with colorectal carcinoma could be achieved by the identification of high risk patients for disease recurrence and progression, as well as for the clas

- Abstract
Crucial influence on the outcome of radioiodine therapy (RIT) in Graves’ hyperthyroidism (GH) has the effective half-life of 131I in the gland. The short-term treatment with Lithium carbonate (LiCO3) enhances the 131I half-life and increase the thyroid radiation dose. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of RIT combined with LiCO3 in patients with GH. This prospective study included 30 patients treated with 131I-NaI in combination with LiCO3 (RI-Li group), and 30 patients treated only with 131I-NaI (RI group). Treatment with LiCO3 (daily dose of 900 mg) was started one day before RIT and continued six days after. Results: In RI-Li group the serum level of Li was 0.571±0.156 μmol/l at RIT. Despite of significantly increased serum TT4 and FT4 levels, and decreased TSH level in RI group, there were no considerable changes in hormone levels in RI-Li group 7 days after treatment. The successful therapy outcome (euthyroidism or hypothyroidism) was registered in 73.3% of patients from RI and in 90.0% of patients from RI-Li group (p<0.01). Lithium treated patients were cured faster (27 of 30 patients were cured after one month) than those treated only with 131I (12 patients were cured after one and 22 patients after 12 months). The presence of euthyroidism gradually decreased while the presence of hypothyroidism increased in lithium-treated patients, and contrary to RI group not all cured patients were hypothyroid at the end of the study. There were no toxic effects of LiCO3 during 7 days treatment. Conclusions: Presented results showed beneficial influence of short-term treatment of LiCO3 on RIT outcome. Lithium-treated cured patients slowly achieved hypothyroidism in comparison to patients treated with 131I alone, and not all of them were hypothyroid after one year. Also, lithium prevented a significant increase of TT4 and FT4 in serum seven days after RIT.

Exploitation experience of hot water boiler plants indicates relatively frequent and permanent breakdowns resulting from the accident state of various elements of the boiler. In addition to the damages caused by the corrosion processes and inadequate management of the plant, the phenomena of fatigue of boiler elements exposed to high pressures and temperatures can occur. Due to high pressure and temperature certain boiler elements are exposed to, high strain and stress of these elements can eventually lead to breakdowns. In this paper, a hot water fire tube boiler, produced by "Minel-Kotlogradnja" Belgrade, type TE110V, installed within the plant "Technical Faculties" at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Nis, Serbia, is analyzed. Thermomechanical stress-strain analysis is performed with loads typically occurring during operation. Finite element analysis is performed using ANSYS Workbench 17 Software package, while the CAD model is formed using SOLID WORKS 2015. The results were used to investigate and to give recommendations for the thickness of tube plate of the first reversing chamber based on determined functional dependence of equivalent stress in the tube plate from the thickness of the plate. The noted functional dependence was determined by Kriging response surface based on results of virtual numerical experiment with different thicknesses of the tube plate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A polygeneration system is an energy system capable of providing multiple energy outputs to meet local demands, by application of high process integration. In this paper, optimal configuration and capacity of a polygeneration system for an indoor swimming pool building is determined by application of a method based on TRNSYS simulation and GenOpt optimization software. Based on the applicability, a superstructure of the polygeneration system is integrated, consisting of the following polygeneration modules: an internal combustion engine cogeneration module, a vapor compression chiller, and adsorption chiller, a ground source heat pump, flat plate solar thermal collectors, photovoltaic collectors, and heat storage. Annual behavior of energy loads of the public swimming pool building during a typical meteorological year and the polygeneration system are modeled and simulated using TRNSYS software, whereas techno-economic optimization is performed by GenOpt optimization. The results indicated the optimal configuration of the polygeneration system for the modelled energy demands, as well as the optimal capacity of the polygeneration modules, thus defining the optimal capacity of the polygeneration system for the energy demands of the public swimming pool building. - Abstract
Planning and forecasting wood resources implies a challenging analysis, which has a direct impact on planning human resources, production timeline, as well as stock management of wooden assortments, which requires a complex data analysis taking into account all inputs that define the yield of wooden material. This paper includes an analysis of monthly time series data from 1991 to 2015 which can be characterized as long time dependence data. In recent years, artificial neural networks have become a popular tool for time dependence data treatment. Therefore, a prediction of monthly requirements of treated wood is performed by developing a new type of neural network in this research. The nonlinear autoregressive model with exogenous inputs (NARX) is used as a foundation of a new network. NARX is a type of recurrent neural network which is a very effective tool for approximation of any nonlinear function, especially ones which could occur during a nonlinear time sequence prediction. The main contribution of this paper is the introduction of an artificial endocrine factor inside the standard NARX structure. The developed ENARX model provides an extra sensitivity of the network to environmental conditions and external disturbances, as well as its improved adaptive capability. The proposed network shows better forecasting performances compared to the default NARX network, thus establishing itself as an excellent prediction tool in the field of wood science, engineering and technology. - Abstract
Introduction Coronary heart disease takes the first place in morbidity and mortality worldwide. As this disease increasingly affects younger people, especially in underdeveloped and developing countries, great efforts are being made aimed at prevention, early detection and treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD). Prevention of coronary heart disease is aimed at modifying risk factors such as obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes, and smoking tobacco, the role of which in the pathogenesis of this disease has unequivocally been proven. On the other hand, the diagnosis of coronary artery disease increasingly involves different methods of imaging in medical diagnostics, while percutaneous interventions are more oriented towards the therapy in terms of eliminating the causes of myocardial ischemia due to stenosis or occlusion of the coronary arteries. Myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with single photon emission tomography is non-invasive nuclear medicine diagnostic method by means of which it is possible to determine the possible existence of ischemic changes in the myocardium of the left ventricle, resulting from the existence of stenosis or occlusion of the coronary arteries in patients with existing symptoms, and in asymptomatic patients with existing risk factors. Aim The aim of this study was to estimate diagnostic accuracy of myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with single photon emission tomography in early detection of coronary artery disease in four groups of patients: the patients suspected of the existence of ischemic heart disease at moderate risk of existence of coronary artery disease without previous history; the patients suffering from diabetes mellitus at moderate risk of existence of ischemic heart disease without previous history of coronary artery disease; the patients who underwent non-surgical methods of treatment of coronary artery disease by means of transluminal percutaneous approach; and the patients who underwent surgical method of treatment

A polygeneration system is an energy system capable of providing multiple utility outputs to meet local demands by application of process integration. This paper addresses the problem of pinpointing the optimal polygeneration energy supply system for the local energy demands of a livestock farm in terms of optimal system configuration and optimal system capacity. The optimization problem is presented and solved for a case study of a pig farm in the paper. Energy demands of the farm, as well as the super-structure of the polygeneration system were modelled using TRNSYS software. Based on the locally available resources, the following polygeneration modules were chosen for the case study analysis: a biogas fired internal combustion engine co-generation module, a gas boiler, a chiller, a ground water source heat pump, solar thermal collectors, photovoltaic collectors, and heat and cold storage. Capacities of the polygeneration modules were used as optimization variables for the TRNSYS-GenOpt optimization, whereas net present value, system primary energy consumption, and CO
2 emissions were used as goal functions for optimization. A hybrid system composed of biogas fired internal combustion engine based co-generation system, adsorption chiller solar thermal and photovoltaic collectors, and heat storage is found to be the best option. Optimal heating capacity of the biogas co-generation and adsorption units was found equal to the design loads, whereas the optimal surface of the solar thermal array is equal to the south office roof area, and the optimal surface of the PV array corresponds to the south facing animal housing building rooftop area. - Abstract
The sensitivity of Tc-99mTc-Tektrotyd scintigraphy was found to be as high as 94.74% in the group of patients with low mitotic index Ki67 (<2%), and it progressively decreased in patients with higher mitotic index (77.78% for Ki67 2-15% and 20% for Ki67% >20%). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
