Introduction: Adhesive capsulitis is one of the major causes of restriction of movement and pain in shoulder joint. Over the years the efficacy of steroid injections to relieve pain and improve range of motion was well established. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has few more properties in management of same and hence the study aims to show PRP as an alternative to steroids. Aim: To look for improvement in VAS, Range of Motion and SPADI due to PRP and steroids and to compare their efficacies. Materials and method: Two groups of Patients with adhesive capsulitis of shoulder were randomly selected. Group A (n=20) was injected with PRP and Group B (n=20) with methyl Prednisolone in aseptic technique after verbal consent. Assessment was done before the block then after 1st week, 4th week and 3months after the block. Results: Statistically significant improvement was seen in both the groups with long term improvement better with PRP. Conclusion: Although steroid showed better results in immediate reduction of pain compared to PRP but in long term follow up PRP was superior.

Introduction Mental retardation ranges from the borderline to mild to very severe. Fortunately, the majority (80%) are in the mild range that endows the individual the capacity to lead a simple, yet fruitful life once provided with a means that are conducive to their learning styles. Children with a more severe disorder can achieve remarkably if their unique talents are recognized and nurtured to the fullest. Aim We conducted a study among armed forces personnel in a large city in Maharashtra. This community has many peculiar and special features. They are from different ethnic, religious, and linguistic backgrounds and live together as a cohesive unit. The general socioeconomic and educational awareness toward facilities and concessions available for the differently abled children is assumed to be high. Materials and methods Detailed interaction with 27 parents having special children was conducted and further data were collected. Each parent was individually interviewed. This group was named parents having differently abled children (PHDAC). Group discussions consisting of 15 families in one group that had no special children in the family were conducted. A total of such eight groups (120 families) were, thus, interviewed. This group was named parents having normal children (PHNC). Each family was verbally questioned regarding the facilities available to special children thoroughly and responses were recorded. Results and discussion Overall, it was found that among the PHDAC, the awareness was much better, but some were circumspect of the facilities provided for their wards by the land of the law. Most of them felt that the benefits coming to them were due to their service with the Army. The PHNC were not aware of most of the provisions. However, during the interactions with the researcher, they evinced interest in the matter and were happy to know that special provisions are existent in various Government sectors for special children. Consideration of impreciseness is more realistic for modelling of physical phenomena. This impreciseness can be considered in several ways like, interval/stochastic/fuzzy or mixture of these. In this work, we have taken for optimising of the system reliability of a redundancy allocation problem formulated from a complex network system with imprecise parameters in the form of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (TrFN). The signed distance method has been used to defuzzify the fuzzy values. Then big-M penalty technique is used to transform the problem to unconstrained optimisation problem. To solve these problems, we have implemented the real coded elitist genetic algorithm (RCEGA) for integer variables with tournament selection, intermediate crossover and one neighbourhood mutation. For illustration, the five link bridge network system has been solved and the results have been presented.

This study described the use of Kernel Least Square Tracker based estimation for 3-dimensional shoulder, elbow motion kinematics from surface Electromyogram (EMG) and a two-stage multiclass Support Vector Machine based classification of different wrist, grip and finger motions from Electroencephalogram (EEG). The advantage of employing hybrid EEG-EMG strategy for upper limb motion estimation was demonstrated for a transhumeral subject. The method utilized EMG from upper arm muscles for elbow motion (and shoulder motion in case of higher degree amputation scenario) and used EEG for discerning basic wrist, grip and finger motions. The results showed that the hybrid scheme could estimate shoulder, elbow motion with more than 90% accuracy and wrist, grip and finger motion with 65%-70% accuracy. This strategy of using hybrid EEG-EMG motion estimation, thus, could be employed in developing a more intuitive upper limb prosthesis controller with multiple degrees of freedom.
