6. Digital Natives Generation Enjoyment Using Online Resources as Virtual Learning Environment in Learning English Speaking

Abstract

When it comes to learning English, members of the generation raised with computers and internet access have relied exclusively on online resources as both a source of information and a means of constructing a virtual learning environment for themselves. The purpose of this study is to determine which online learning tools students find the most enjoyable and how those tools impact their ability to communicate in English. This will allow future teachers to make the best possible use of the resources that are available to them online. In order to ascertain the percentage of people who completed the questionnaire, descriptive quantitative research was conducted. YouTube, which is considered to be among the most enjoyable online learning resources, has the highest percentage of students who are studying English when compared to the other four. A sense of inner encouragement, an eagerness to learn on the part of the students, and selfconfidence are all essential components. Nevertheless, the role of teachers as guides and traveling companions is still necessary in order to increase this percentage even further. One of these is making the most of YouTube as an online educational resource in the context of improving one's English-speaking skills.

7. Cyber Security Awareness in Using Digital Platforms among Students in a Higher Learning Institution

Abstract

As COVID-19 took hold, online learning became the norm as universities and classrooms worldwide were forced to close their doors. Education institute closures impacted more than 1.2 billion students across 186 countries as of April 2020. This pandemic, too, has shifted our Malaysian education sector as well. Academicians and students are adopting online learning via open and distance learning platforms. Education 5.0 is the revolution of human intelligence and cognitive computing. When the world is moving towards this, the major challenge one will face is the challenges in this digitalisation era, the challenges on cyber security and the risk associated with it. This study uses a digital learning platform to examine the cyber security awareness among UiTM Terengganu Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences students. The study is significant to focus on the weakness and to educate the students about being cyber victims. The data was collected using a set of questionnaires among 110 students. Numbers and statistics from open-ended and closed-ended questions helped obtain data. Descriptive analysis shows that many students have awareness and knowledge of cyber security, cyber-attack, and cyberbullying.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to expand the knowledge of the relationship between exchange rate, inflation rate, and gross domestic product with stock market return. Design/methodology/approach: The exchange rate, inflation rate, and Gross Domestic Product serve as the independent variables, while market return represented by the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBMKLCI) serves as a dependent variable. This study covers the past ten years, from January 2012 to December 2022, and employs a correlation and regression analysis. Findings: The outcome reveals that the exchange rate and inflation rate have a negative and significant relationship with market return. Meanwhile, the Gross Domestic Product has a positive and significant relationship with market return. Furthermore, the result shows that in comparison to the exchange rate, inflation rate, and Gross Domestic Product, Gross Domestic Product is the factor that has the greatest influence on stock market return. Research limitations/implications: To improve the reliability and accuracy of future findings, future researchers may want to consider other macroeconomic factors such as the price of crude oil and the changes in the Government that may affect stock market return. Practical implications: The findings of this study could serve as a reference for upcoming researchers, start-ups, investors, and the Government to acquire information about Malaysia's macroeconomic factors and its stock market return. Originality/value: This study contributes to the knowledge regarding the relationship between exchange rate, inflation rate, and gross domestic product on Malaysia's stock market return. Abstract

Individuals learn in different ways using several learning styles, but lecturers may not always share material and learning experiences that match students' learning preferences. Mismatches between learning and teaching styles can lead to disappointment with students are taking, and lead to underperformance among them. The aim of this study is to identify the learning styles of the students enrolled in Universiti Malaysia Pahang who were registered in Programming Technique course and to investigate the relationship between students' learning styles and teachers' teaching styles. Five lecturers and 251 students were involved in the study as participants and. Data from students were collected using Leonard, Enid's VAK Learning Style Survey. Meanwhile, the teaching styles of the lecturers were identified using Grasha and Reichmann's Teaching Style Survey. The findings revealed that majority of the student's preferred visual learning style. The result also shows that the lecturers' teaching styles give an impact towards the students' academic performance. From this study, we can conclude that teaching styles have significant impacts on students' learning styles and academic performances.

Abstract

Individuals with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) frequently develop neurological symptoms, but the biological underpinnings of these phenomena are unknown. Through single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and cytokine analyses of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood from individuals with COVID-19 with neurological symptoms, we find compartmentalized, CNS-specific T cell activation and B cell responses. All affected individuals had CSF anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antibodies whose target epitopes diverged from serum antibodies. In an animal model, we find that intrathecal SARS-CoV-2 antibodies are present only during brain infection and not elicited by pulmonary infection. We produced CSF-derived monoclonal antibodies from an individual with COVID-19 and found that these monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) target antiviral and antineural antigens, including one mAb that reacted to spike protein and neural tissue. CSF immunoglobulin G (IgG) from 5 of 7 patients showed antineural reactivity. This immune survey reveals evidence of a compartmentalized immune response in the CNS of individuals with COVID-19 and suggests a role of autoimmunity in neurologic sequelae of COVID-19.

Abstract

This experimental paper seeks to elucidate the usage of the card game 'Protein Synthesis Game' as a student's learning tool in studying the Biology topic of protein synthesis during an A-Level course. A total of 24 experimental students in 3 induced groups and 24 controlled students in controlled groups were involved in the experiment which began with a pretest on the topic of Protein Synthesis, followed by the experimentation, and ended with a post-test administered after the incubation period. Results indicate that students have better facilitative communicative engagement in learning protein synthesis when playing the game as compared to studying the topic from a book. The data suggests that such communicative engagement may lead to a successful meaningful learning on the students' part.
