Studies on the salient role of neoliberalism in education have increased rapidly in recent years. These studies highlighted the presence of neoliberalism in language teaching materials in different contexts. However, research exploring the reality of neoliberal mentality in young learners' (YL) English language teaching (ELT) materials are sparse. Contributing to this barely-touched line of research, this study, employing a mixed-methods approach, examined the two most frequently used young learners' ELT textbooks (i.e. 'Family and Friends'; 'Super Minds') taught in Iranian private language institutes. We further explored teachers' perspectives on neoliberalism. The findings revealed that young learners' textbooks are notably filled with neoliberal values such as 'fame & celebrity' and 'material wealth'. The qualitative findings also revealed that most teachers are unaware of the presence of neoliberalism in the textbooks. Implications for teachers, young learners, and policymakers are discussed.

Diagnostic imaging decision support (DI-DS) system has emerged as an innovative evidence-based solution to decrease inappropriate diagnostic imaging. The aim of the present study was to design and evaluate a DI-DS system for cerebrovascular diseases.The present study was an applied piece of research. First, the conceptual model of the DI-DS system was designed based on its functional and non-functional requirements. Afterwards, to create the system’s knowledge base, cerebrovascular diseases diagnostic imaging algorithms were extracted from the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria (ACR-AC). Subsequently, the system was developed based on the obtained conceptual model and the extracted algorithms. The software was programmed by means of the C#. After debugging the system, it was evaluated regarding its performance and also the users’ satisfaction with it.Assessing the users’ satisfaction with the system demonstrated that all the evaluation criteria met the acceptable threshold (85 %). The retrospective evaluation of the system’s performance indicated that from among 76 imaging examinations, which had previously been performed for 30 patients, 12 (15.78 %) were deemed inappropriate. And, the system accurately identified all the inappropriate physicians’ decisions. The concurrent evaluation of the system’s performance indicated that the system’s recommendations helped the physicians remove 100 % (4 out of 4) of the inappropriate and 40 % (2 out of 5) of the inconclusive imaging examinations from their initial choices.A DI-DS system could increase the compliance of the physicians’ decisions with diagnostic imaging guidelines, and also improve treatment outcomes through correct diagnosis and providing timely care. Background: The growing participation of women in competitive sports necessitates a comprehensive understanding of sex‐specific cardiovascular adaptations and risks. Historically, research has predominantly focused on male athletes, leaving a gap in knowledge about the unique cardiovascular dynamics of female peers. Hypothesis: we hypothesized that female athletes exhibit distinct cardiovascular adaptations and face different risks, influenced by physiological, hormonal, and structural differences. Methods: A systematic review of the literature was conducted, analyzing studies on cardiovascular responses and adaptations in athletes. Data were extracted on hemodynamic changes, autonomic and neural reflex regulation, cardiac remodeling, and arrhythmias. Comparative analyses were performed to identify sex‐specific patterns and discrepancies in cardiovascular health outcomes. Results: We revealed considerable sex differences in cardiovascular adaptations to athletic training. Female athletes generally have longer QT intervals, greater sinoatrial node automaticity, and enhanced atrioventricular node function compared to males. They also exhibit lower sympathetic activity, lower maximal stroke volumes, and a tendency toward eccentric cardiac remodeling. Conversely, male athletes are more prone to concentric hypertrophy and higher incidences of bradyarrhythmia and accessory pathway arrhythmias. Female athletes are more likely to experience symptomatic atrial fibrillation and face higher procedural complications during catheter ablation. Conclusions: Our findings underscore the necessity for sex‐specific approaches in sports cardiology. Recognizing and addressing these differences could enhance performance and reduce adverse cardiac events in athletes. Future research should focus on developing tailored screening, prevention, and treatment strategies to bridge the knowledge gap and promote cardiovascular health in both male and female athletes. Background & Objectives: C-Kit, a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in intracellular signaling, has a mutated form that significantly contributes to the development of certain cancers. This study aimed to evaluate a series of benzo[a]phenazin-5-ol-tethered trisubstituted methane derivatives as potential pharmacophores for inhibiting C-Kit kinase. Materials & Methods: Benzo[a]phenazine-5-ol derivatives were sketched and converted into Mol2 files using Marvin software. Their three dimensional (3D) structures were generated and saved in PDB format. Molecular docking studies with the C-Kit kinase (PDB code 1t46) were performed using AutoDock 4.2. Additionally, the derivatives' physicochemical properties, ADME characteristics, and drug-likeness parameters were assessed with the SwissADME online tool. Results: Molecular docking studies of benzo[a]phenazin-5-ol derivatives (A-L) against C-kit kinase revealed that compounds A and C exhibited greater selectivity and stronger inhibitory effects than the reference drug, Sunitinib. Ligplot analysis demonstrated that compound A formed four hydrogen bonds with Arg791(A), Ile789(A), and His790(A), while compound C formed two hydrogen bonds with Ile571(A) and Ile789(A). ADME analysis indicated that all compounds, except C, D, and I, are potential P-gp substrates. Drug-likeness analysis showed one or two violations of Lipinski's rule of five. Conclusion: In summary, molecular docking studies identified compounds A and C as promising lead candidates for inhibiting C-kit kinase, demonstrating superior binding to the active site compared to Sunitinib. ADME and drug-likeness analysis revealed that compound A is a potential P-gp substrate with one violation of Lipinski's rule of five, making it the closest pharmacological match to Sunitinib and a strong candidate for further investigation. Objectives Population aging is accompanied by an increase in the elderly's demand for long-term care, which is mainly provided by family caregivers. Providing quality elderly care, while maintaining the health of caregivers, requires recognition of facilitators and the educational needs. Therefore, this study aims to investigate facilitators of elderly care at home and the educational needs of the family caregivers of older adults in the south of Tehran, Iran. Methods & Materials This is a qualitative study using the conventional content analysis method. To collect data, we conducted semi-structured telephone interviews. Seventeen family caregivers aged ≥18 years with at least one month of caregiving experience and at least six hours of caregiving per week were selected using purposive and snowball sampling methods until data saturation from January to April 2021. After transcribing the recorded interviews, the data were entered into the MAXQDA 2018 software and analyzed. Results Personal factors included personal characteristics of caregivers, Capability in caregiving, perceived benefits of caregiving, and self-care activities of caregivers. Interpersonal factors included proper relationship with older adults, older adults' partial dependence on caregivers, cooperation and support of family members, and receiving others' support. Supportive environments included physical environment, receiving support from work environments and organizations providing elderly care services. The most important educational needs of family caregivers were the needs to learn how to prepare nutritious foods for the elders, the way to nourish older adults with dysphagia, and how to move the physically disabled older adults. Conclusion Family caregivers of older adults in the south of Tehran should have access to affordable elderly care and home care services based on their educational needs that require planned support from service providers. Purpose Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is an important complication after acute pulmonary embolism (PE) with considerable morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to estimate the CTEPH incidence in a cohort after the first occurrence of PE. Methods We conducted a 1-year follow-up cohort study between 2015 and 2018 to assess the incidence of CTEPH in 474 patients with their first acute episode of PE. For the diagnosis of CTEPH, patients with unexplained persistent dyspnea during follow-up underwent transthoracic echocardiography, right heart catheterization, ventilation-perfusion lung scanning, and CT pulmonary angiography. Results Overall, 317 patients were included in the study. The mean age of the patients was 56.5 ± 16 years. One hundred and three patients (32%) had exertional dyspnea at the 1-year follow-up. Patients with evidence of pulmonary hypertension (PH) on echocardiography underwent right heart catheterization. Eleven patients (18%) had no PH (mPAP 25 mmHg. Fifteen patients had PAWP > 15 mmHg, including those with underlying left heart problems or valvular diseases. There were 32 patients with PAH (mPAP > 25 mmHg and PVR > 3 WU) undergoing CTEPH studies; 22 patients (6.9%) had multiple segmental defects suggesting CTEPH on a perfusion scan. Conclusion The incidence of CTEPH observed in this study 1 year after the first episode of acute PE was approximately 6.9%. Soil mulches and conditioners have been shown to improve soil moisture conservation, infiltration, and seed germination and survival, but their interactive effects with sporadic rainfall and the existing vegetation have rarely been considered. In an experimental field study, we assessed the effects of soil additives (sawdust and hydrogel) and mulches (river sand and plant debris) on seedling emergence and survival of Astragalus nigricans Barneby, in the rangelands of Mashhad, northeast Iran. We also assessed any effects on soil moisture and temperature several days after rain in July 2017 and May 2018 and weed composition, density, and diversity. The most successful treatment was hydrogel, associated with earlier seedling emergence for A. nigricans, greater seedling survival, and biomass production. Sawdust and sand treatments were useful for root proliferation and seedling emergence in the spring of the first season, but they led to high seedling mortality under drought. Debris of Artemisia khorasanica shoots was the most efficient and consistent treatment for soil moisture conservation and temperature stability in both years, but its possible allelopathic effects led to high seedling mortality and a long delay (41 days) on seedling emergence. Plant debris also negatively affected the density, richness, and diversity of nontarget plant species. Diagnostic imaging decision support (DI-DS) systems could be effective tools for reducing inappropriate diagnostic imaging examinations. Since effective design and evaluation of these systems requires in-depth understanding of their features and functions, the present study aims to map the existing literature on DI-DS systems to identify features and functions of these systems. The search was performed using Scopus, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central Registry of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) and was limited to 2000 to 2021. Analytical studies, descriptive studies, reviews and book chapters that explicitly addressed the functions or features of DI-DS systems were included. A total of 6,046 studies were identified. Out of these, 55 studies met the inclusion criteria. From these, 22 functions and 22 features were identified. Some of the identified features were: visibility, content chunking/grouping, deployed as a multidisciplinary program, clinically valid and relevant feedback, embedding current evidence, and targeted recommendations. And, some of the identified functions were: displaying an appropriateness score, recommending alternative or more appropriate imaging examination(s), providing recommendations for next diagnostic steps, and providing safety alerts. The set of features and functions obtained in the present study can provide a basis for developing well-designed DI-DS systems, which could help to improve adherence to diagnostic imaging guidelines, minimize unnecessary costs, and improve the outcome of care through appropriate diagnosis and on-time care delivery.
