Abstract

Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease affecting more than 334 million people of all age groups globally. Although there are innumerable evidence-based guidelines and effective treatments for this disease, many patients with asthma still have uncontrolled symptoms. The effective control measures of chronic diseases primarily depend on the proper patient care in collaboration with healthcare providers. Currently, healthcare facilities are using the manual asthma action plan to customise each asthmatic patient to understand and manage asthma safely on their own. Thus, this article introduces a preliminary study of a digital health application prototype design based on the asthma action plan among adult asthma patients. The findings regarding the accessibility of this prototype among asthma patients will give a promising alternative tool to empower asthma patients to manage their asthma safely. Abstract

Water quality is important in natural environments for an organism to sustain optimum physical conditions, as poor physicochemical characteristics can result in poor production and economic losses. The present study sets out to determine the subcritical of minimum and maximum physicochemical water parameters (pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen) tolerance limit for the giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii. To explore this, samples of 48 juvenile prawns (2.70 ± 0.27 g) were randomly subject to 6 replicates. The trials on dissolved oxygen were conducted by reducing dissolved oxygen levels in water over 12 h duration, pH test was conducted by lowering the pH level by adding 5% hydrochloride acid over 2 h. A temperature test was conducted by increasing the temperature with the water heater over 4 h, and ice was added to reduce the water temperature over 3 h. The critical point of dissolved oxygen was observed at 2.9 to 1.9 mg O2 L–1 before M. rosenbergii displayed signs of stress until fatality occurred at 0.5 mg O2 L–1. The subcritical point range of pH was recorded between 2.6 (min) and 4.6 (max). The critical tolerance cold shock temperature limit for M. rosenbergii was observed at a range of 16.8 °C to 23.2 °C. M. rosenbergii showed stress signs between 32.9 °C and 36.7 °C. The results provide critical information on the subcritical tolerance levels of each water parameter, including dissolved oxygen, temperature and pH for giant freshwater prawns, which could prevent massive mortality due to changes in physicochemical water parameters. Abstract

Web Application Development has shown progressive and rapid growth using various techniques. Nonetheless, web application security is a major component in web development that is often overlooked or not properly focused on. Due to ad hoc existence and poor code written, most available web applications are vulnerable and desirable target for the attackers. To alleviate this issue, the use of defensive programming basic technique allows the developers to develop secure applications. Defensive programming includes validate output and correctly manages error messages. This avoids the misuse of snippets and builds the program in a consistent way despite unpredictable inputs. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, this paper discussed the development of a web application program using PHP as server-side scripting exploiting defensive programming techniques to overwhelm web application vulnerabilities. Secondly, this paper examined common vulnerabilities of web application risks refer to Open Web Application Security Project to validate the effectiveness of defensive programming technique. Abstract

Nowadays, all sectors including the defense and security sector must provide comprehensive cybersecurity awareness at all supply chain levels. Cybercriminal targets defense and security sector all over the world using various cyber threat methods. Previous studies show human factors and physical security are the contributions to this cyber-attack. It is imperative for companies to better prepare their workforce against these unscrupulous cyber and physical methods by implementing a rigorous security awareness regime. This study investigates cybersecurity awareness among employees who are involved directly with the supply chain system. A survey questionnaire was distributed both in hard-copy and soft-copy (online) modes. There were 380 respondents from various organizations in the defense and security sector. The overall findings show employees are aware of cybersecurity in the supply chain system. Abstract

This research is conducted to investigate the factors affecting National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) students' career path. Students and career are two related entities and have been a very common topic in the live development of teenagers. Academic and co-curricular achievement would define the future of individual. Thus the correlation between students and career is very significant as they are reported may affect youth psychologically. The aims of this research are to investigate main factors effecting NDUM students' career path by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The collected data of 234 final year NDUM students from all faculties were analyzed by using IBM SPSS Statistics software. An online questionnaire via Google Form was conducted to gain the data. The results showed that there were 9 main components influenced NDUM students in choosing their career and "family" was identified as the main factor. Abstract

Tongue inspection is a complementary diagnosis method that widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) by inspecting the tongue body constitution to decide the physiological and pathological functions of the human body. Since tongue manifestation is done by practitioner’s observation using naked eye, many limitations can affect the diagnosis result including environment condition and experiences of the practitioner. Lately, tongue diagnosis has been widely studied in order to solve these limitations via digital system. However, most of recent digital system are bulky and not equipped with intelligent diagnosis system that can finally predict the health status of the patient. In this research, digital tongue diagnosis system that uses intelligent diagnosis consisted of image segmentation analysis, tongue coating recognition analysis, and tongue color classification has been embedded on Raspberry Pi. Tongue segmentation implements Hue, Saturation and Value (HSV) color space with Brightness Conformable Multiplier (BCM) for adaptive brightness filtering to recognized tongue body accurately while eliminating perioral area.  Tongue Coating Recognition uses threshold method to detect tongue coating and eliminate the unwanted features including shadow. Tongue color classification uses hybrid method consisted of k-means clustering and Support Vector Machine (SVM) to classify between red, light red and deep red tongue and further gave diagnosis based on color. This experiment concluded that it is feasible to embed the algorithm on Raspberry Pi to promote system portability while attaining similar accuracy for future telemedicine.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyse the performance of six different classifiers, which are κ-Nearest Neighbours (kNN), Naive Bayes, Random Tree, J48 Decision Tree, Random Forest Tree and Sequential Minimal Optimisation (SMO), using aircraft databases and optimize their cost parameter for better accuracy. The six algorithms are implemented to classify aircraft type and its country of origin using a Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA) workbench. Additionally, we report our parameter optimisation results for SMO by varying the cost parameters to obtain the optimum result. It is observed that in both classifications, SMO with linear kernel obtained the best performance as compared to the other classifiers in terms of classification accuracy, which is 100%.
