Dark triad ,Theory of mind ,Objectification ,Social and Behavioral Sciences - Abstract
The present study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the factors that influence the interpersonal objectification in everyday social exchanges. Given that the ability to recognise and understand other's mental and emotional states can differ significantly from individual to individual and that the level of attribution of such states can influence the formation of attitudes towards others and, consequently, behaviour, our purpose is to understand what relationship may exist between the ability to understand and assume the other's perspective (Theory of Mind) and the tendency to objectify both people and interpersonal relations.

The central focus of this study is to investigate the individual factors that exert influence on interpersonal objectification. Given the significant variability in individuals' capacity to perceive and comprehend the mental and emotional states of others, as well as the consequential impact of attributing such states on the formation of attitudes and subsequent behaviors, our primary aim is to ascertain the potential relationship between Theory of Mind (ToM) proficiency and the inclination to objectify interpersonal relationships. Specifically, we seek to empirically examine whether the activation of ToM in individuals can effectively mitigate their tendency to engage in objectifying behaviors towards others.

FOS: Psychology ,Social Psychology ,Psychology ,Social and Behavioral Sciences - Abstract
The present study aims to analyze the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on self-perception of humanness. In particular, we hypothesize that restrictions increase self-dehumanization and that this link can be explained by the threat to human needs that characterize restriction times. Furthermore, we expect that this pattern affects identification with all humanity, in terms of both the bond with humanity and the concern for all humanity factors, by considering alternative hypotheses on the direction of this latter effect.

- Abstract
Background: To investigate macular microvascular changes after uncomplicated pha-coemulsification surgery according to the cataract severity grade. Methods: Retrospective, cross-sectional study involving 23 eyes of 23 patients who underwent elective cataract extraction. All patients underwent routine ophthalmologic examination, including optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) at baseline (preoperative visit, T0) and seven days postoperatively (T7). OCTA scans were obtained with the spectral domain system Cirrus 5000 (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc., Dublin, CA, USA), and 3 mm × 3 mm raster fovea-centered scans were obtained to evaluate the superficial capillary plexus (SCP) vessel density, perfusion density, and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters. Results: SCP perfusion density significantly increased from 28.3 ± 5.73% to 33.74 ± 4.13% after the surgery (p < 0.001). Similarly, SCP vessel density significantly increased from 15.14 ± 3.41 mm−1 to 18.14 ± 2.57 mm−1 after surgery (p < 0.001). The mean preoperative FAZ area significantly increased from 0.27 ± 0.12 mm to 0.24 ± 0.11 mm seven days postoperatively (p = 0.008). When comparing softer and harder cataracts, no significant variations in SCP vessel density, as well as SCP perfusion density parameters and the FAZ area, perimeter, and circularity index, were noted before and after surgery. Conclusions: Macular SPC vessel density and macular SCP perfusion density increase after uncomplicated cataract surgery regardless of the cataract severity.

- Abstract
The present study analyses the effects of COVID-19 restrictions on self-perception of humanness through the increased sense of threat to fundamental human needs. Furthermore, in an explorative way, we analysed the possible impact of this pattern on the identification with all humanity, in terms of bond with humanity and concern for all humanity. Through a preregistered experimental study (
N = 278), we showed that participants who were asked to recall COVID-19-related restrictions reported a greater sense of human needs threat and, in turn, higher levels of self-dehumanization. In addition, we found that remembering restrictions, compared to the control group, led to lower concern for humanity and indirectly affected it via increased threat of human needs and self-dehumanization. - Abstract
Aims: The Pros-IT CNR project aims to monitor a sample of Italian males â¥18 years of age who have been diagnosed in the participating centers with incident prostate cancer, by analyzing their clinical features, treatment protocols and outcome results in relation to quality of life. Methods: Pros-IT CNR is an observational, prospective, multicenter study. The National Research Council (CNR), Neuroscience Institute, Aging Branch (Padua) is the promoting center. Ninety-seven Italian centers located throughout Italy were involved. The field study began in September 1, 2014. Subjects eligible were diagnosed with biopsy-verified prostate cancer, naà ̄ve. A sample size of 1500 patients was contemplated. A baseline assessment including anamnestic data, clinical history, risk factors, the initial diagnosis, cancer staging information and quality of life (Italian UCLA Prostate Cancer Index; SF-12 Scale) was completed. Six months after the initial diagnosis, a second assessment evaluating the patientâs health status, the treatment carried out, and the quality of life will be made. A third assessment, evaluating the treatment follow-up and the quality of life, will be made 12 months after the initial diagnosis. The 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th assessments, similar to the third, will be completed 24, 36, 48 and 60 months after the initial diagnosis, respectively, and will include also a Food Frequency Questionnaire and the Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly. Discussion: The study will provide information on patientsâ quality of life and its variations over time in relation to the treatments received for the prostate cancer.

- Abstract
Staghorn stones have been treated, up to 30 years ago, with open surgery. With the introduction of percutaneous procedure (PNL) and the use of shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) together with flexible instrumentation and Holmium Laser lithotripsy the indication for open surgery is actually very limited. On the other hand conservative treatment of staghorn calculi will result in a complete destruction of the kidney associated to a mortality rate up to 30%. The best results of surgical treatment have been obtained after anatrophic nephrolithotomy, with stone-free rates of 71 to 100%. In 1955 was first described the method of percutaneous nephrostomy insertion, and 20 years later was first reported on percutaneous nephrostolithotomy. Initially, only calculi no larger than the diameter of the nephrostomy tract were removed. Treatment of complex staghorn stones remained controversial because of the very high stone burden and it was also debated the choice between a single tract percutaneous approach, or a multiple tract approach in order to obtain a complete stone clearance. In our study we have compared the percutaneous approach with a single tract and the use of a flexible nephroscope in order to reach all the calices with the percutaneous approach with multiple accesses.

- Abstract
Actually ureteroscopy represents the therapy of choice for the treatment of ureteric stones. In the case of bilateral synchronous ureteric calculi the options are between a staged or a synchronous procedure; the last would potentially reduce costs and the need for a second anesthetic in comparison with a staged procedure. We reviewed our experience with bilateral same session ureteroscopy and compared with staged bilateral or unilateral procedure in the same series. The size and site of the stones were similar in all groups with a mean of 8.5 x 6.51 mm (15-7 x 10-5 mm). Symptoms were compared between the groups both before and after surgery, like painful urination, flank pain, urgency, nocturia, frequency, lower abdominal pain and urinary incontinence were assessed. A slight prevalence in the presence of hematuria was present in the bilateral same session URS group, probably due to the presence of the DJ stent. Urinary discomfort was more common in this group without reaching statistical significance (p>0.05). In no case differences between groups were statistically significant. No statistically significant differences were reported between the groups regarding postoperative pain (p>0.5). In our series, bilateral synchronous ureteroscopy is a safe procedure, with high stone free rate even compared with staged bilateral and monolateral treatment. It has the advantage of saving multiple procedures and the need of a second anesthesia and hospitalization. It can be performed safely with minimal risks. The positioning of a DJ stent at the end of the procedure adds little time, preventing post-operative complications with little discomfort for the patient.
