Esse artigo apresenta o estudo de avaliação do comportamento hidrogeológico do Sistema Aquífero Embasamento Cristalino, no município de Bagé (RS) que é uma região que passa por períodos recorrentes de estiagem, afetando o abastecimento e a agricultura. Uma das soluções encontradas para sanar este problema é a perfuração de poços tubulares. No município de Bagé ocorre um sistema aquífero fraturado, onde a locação de poços produtivos se torna mais complexa e a compreensão dos fatores que condicionam o sistema e o fluxo da água subterrânea se torna muito importante. Para atingir este objetivo foi realizada uma análise dos dados hidrogeológicos de 174 poços tubulares, processamento dos dados aeromagnéticos e caminhamentos eletromagnéticos. Para realizar a avaliação estrutural da área, foram identificados lineamentos magnéticos por meio da utilização dos diversos filtros, métodos de realce nos dados aeromagnéticos, disponíveis para o software Oasis Montaj da Geosoft. Também foi realizado coleta de campo de dados eletromagnéticos, com o equipamento o EM34 modelo XL da Geonics com o objetivo de confirmar e validar os dados dos lineamentos aeromagnéticos interpretados, sendo realizados 8 perfis de caminhamento eletromagnético. Os resultados obtidos mostram que os aquíferos fraturados na região do município de Bagé se apresentam compartimentados, com diferentes produtividades e trends estruturais. As principais estruturas aquíferas ocorrem na direção NW, secundariamente para NE, e com uma acentuação de sua produtividade quando associado a cruzamentos de estruturas, tanto para NW como NE. A interpretação integrada dos dados aéreos e terrestres permitiu reconhecer o comportamento hidrogeológico e estrutural do Sistema Aquífero Embasamento Cristalino, onde os resultados, apresentados em mapas georreferenciados, apresentam as principais zonas e trends que estão associados a aquíferos fraturados.

Esse artigo apresenta o estudo de avaliação da compartimentação e do comportamento hidrogeológico do Sistema Aquífero Embasamento Cristalino, no município de Bagé (RS). Para realização desse estudo, foram utilizados dados hidrogeológicos de 174 poços tubulares e dados de lineamentos obtidos de imagens SRTM e de levantamento aeroge-ofísico. Para realizar a avaliação estrutural da área, foram traçados lineamentos morfoestruturais nas imagens SRTM, em diferentes escalas (1:1.000.000; 1:500.000 e 1:250.000), bem como foram identificadas estruturas por meio da análise e interpretação dos dados aeromagnéticos. Esses dados foram utilizados visando identificar a existência de compartimentos estruturais. Os dados dos poços tubulares foram analisados e utilizados na caracterização hidrogeo-lógica da área de estudo e dos compartimentos estruturais. Os resultados indicaram a ocorrência de cinco estruturas principais, que possuem extensões entre 8,62 e 30km. Com base nessas estruturas, foram definidas cinco zonas (Z1 a Z5) que possuem características distintas. A Zona 1 apresenta os principais trends para N80-90E e N60-70E, capa-cidade específica de 0,005 m3/h/m e vazão de 0,46 m3/h. Na Zona 2 os principais trends são para N20-30E, N50-60E e N30-40E, a capacidade específica máxima é de 6,93 m3/h/m, com vazão máxima de 16,5 m3/h. Na Zona 3 os trends são N50-60E, N40-50E e N30-40E, com capacidade específica máxima de 3 m3/h/m e vazão máxima de 20,37 m3/h. Na Zona 4 os principais trends são para N70-80E e N20-30E, com capacidade específica máxima de 2,13 m3/h/m e vazão máxima de 12 m3/h. Por fim, na Zona 5 os trends principais são para N70-80E, N20-30E e N00-10W, com capacidade específica máxima de 1,5 m3/h/m e vazão máxima de 30 m3/h. Esses resultados demonstram que a região do município de Bagé se apresenta compartimentada, com zonas apresentando diferentes produtividades e trends estruturais, sendo que a Zona 2 apresenta estruturas que estão associadas a maior produtividade de poços. Assim, a análise de lineamentos magnéticos e morfoestruturais, demonstra ser um estudo que tem importância na avaliação da compartimentação estrutural e hidrogeológica de áreas com ocorrência de aquíferos fraturados. This paper presents the study for defining hydrogeological compartments of the Crystalline Basement Aquifer System, in the municipality of Bagé (RS). For this study, hydrogeological data from 174 tubular wells and lineaments data ob-tained from SRTM images and aerogeophysical survey were used. To perform the structural assessment of the area morphostructural lineaments on the SRTM images in different scales (1: 1,000,000; 1: 500,000 and 1: 250,000) were traced, as well as structures were identified by analyzing and interpreting aeromagnetic data. These data were used to identifying the existence of structural compartments. Data from the tubular wells were analyzed and used for the hydro-geological characterization and the structural compartments in the studied area. The results indicated the occurrence of five main structures, presenting lengths between 8.62 and 30km. Based on these structures five zones (Z1 to Z5) with distinct characteristics were defined. Zone 1 show the main trends as N80-90E and N60-70E and specific capacity of 0.005 m3/h/m and flow rate of 0.46 m3/h. In Zone 2 the main trends range between N20-30E, N50-60E and N30-40E, with a maximum specific capacity of 6.93 m3/h/m and a maximum flow rate of 16.5 m3/h. In Zone 3, the trends are N50-60E, N40-50E and N30-40E, with a maximum specific capacity of 3 m3/h/m and a maximum flow rate of 20.37 m3/h. In Zone 4, the main trends range from N70-80E to N20-30E, with maximum specific capacity of 2.13 m3/h/m and a maximum flow rate of 12 m3/h. Finally, the main trends in Zone 5 are N70 -80E, N20-30E and N00-10W, with a maximum specific capacity of 1.5 m3/h/m and a maximum flow rate of 30 m3/h. Therefor these results show that the region of the municipality of Bagé is divided into zones presenting different productivity and structural trends, emphasizing that Zone 2 has structures with higher productivity. Thus, the analysis of magnetic and morphostructural linea-ments proves to be an important technique for evaluation of structural and hydrogeological compartmentalization of areas with occurrence of fractured aquifers.

The Portuguese language with more than 20 years of research in Cosmogenic Nuclides, still lacks literature and bibliographies on this subject, compared to English speaking contries. In Brazil, studies dedicated to research in this area are rare and scarce. Thus, Cosmochronology in Brazilian Science is new and mostly unknown. In order to promote the discussion about the applications of cosmogenic nuclides in science and its history, even if in a small way, we present this paper. It seeks to carry out a historical reconstruction of the research on cosmogenic nuclides and their important implications in Geosciences. Cosmogenic nuclides represent an indispensable tool for the study, understanding and determination of variational rates as a function of time. Therefore, in the last decades, the application of these isotopes in the most diverse geological environments, such as coastal, lacustrine, glacial, volcanic, tectonic, and extraterrestrial environments, has been explored and embraced within Geology.

The morphology of a channel, in a space-time resolution, suffers with sedimentological processes of erosion, transport and deposition. Processes that are more accentuated in meandering channels. In the present work the objective is to analyze, identify and discuss the changes occurred in spatial and temporal sequence in the form of the meanders and river bed of a section of the Mamorecillo River between the provinces of Cochabamba and Santa Cruz - Bolivia. Characterized by being an extensively meandering river - characteristic of the river basin in which it is inserted, the Amazon Basin, the present study, through remote sensing resources, seeks to discuss and correlate the changes occurred in the channel in a period of twenty-seven years (1985-2012). As well as understanding the processes of migration of the meanders that this section of the Mamorecillo River suffered through the sedimentological processes of erosion and deposition and consequently understand the processes in the Amazon basin. For the accomplishment of the work, the studied area was delimited and allied with geoprocessing tools such as software and aerial images, the main geomorphological features were identified and their changes discussed during the studied period. In this work, we intend to correlate and verify the inter-dependence (referring to the sedimentological and / or hydrological contribution) that exists between the Mamorecillo River and the Chimoreacute; and Ichilo rivers.

This study aims at discussing the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in activities carried out in a first grade high school class. The analysis of soil was used as a didactic tool capable of facilitating student teaching and learning, and as a way for understanding the environment that surrounds them, aiming at achieving three main goals: to acquire knowledge, to develop skills, and attitudes. During the activities, it was noticed a great student involvement with the activities, especially in the practical ones. In that sense, it was concluded that it is important to work with active methodologies, which are able to increase interest and motivation in the students. Thus, through a thematic approach, it is possible to raise students’ critical awareness.

This study aims to present the outreach project Museu Virtual Geologico do Pampa (Virtual Geological Museum of Pampa - Sippee no 0301315 – Unipampa ) conceived to spread knowledge about geology in schools of Cacapava do Sul – RS – Brazil. It also aims to report the experiences and feelings of the participants that took part in the activities. Through the materialization of structures and geological events, involving not only what happened in the region but also in the planet, it carried out researches and workshops. Therefore, there were informal conversations, practical activities and photographic records. The data indicated that the activities aroused feelings, sensations, interactivity, communication and interest in Geology, implementing the geological culture in the local community as well as demonstrating the importance of the region for geosciences. It was noticed that the learning conducted outside school, in which students are involved with the university environment, is an important tool for education and social inclusion.

Monitoring in the Ca?apava do Sul campus, Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA), intends to provide the development in academical activities and techniques inside the Geoscience field, in subjects offered in the curricula of Geophysics, Geology and Environmental and Sanitary Engineering programs. It is a student activity in which helping the teacher to intensify and assure the cooperation between the students and the monitor into the classroom and also in the basic activities on the University related to Teaching, Research and Extension is the main purpose. Therefore, it is possible to intensify the awareness of group importance in knowledge in general, as well as the familiarity with the differences, with conceptual contents, behaviour and proposed activities that are offered to develop in each student the responsibilities itself and with everybody else, always emphasizing the importance of working in a group. Teaching is inseparably related to learning. The goals are the development of conceptual abilities and classroom and laboratory techniques, as well as in extracurricular activities, in order to arouse in the students their interests about the subjects addressed. The main objective of monitoring work is to learn, not only learning about the subject, but also contents related to some procedures, preparing, experiment and, in the matter of fact, everything that is related to the knowledge about living and discussing in a group. Therefore, it is believed that the student/ monitor should live this experience provided by teaching and integrate the practical experiences in his formation, in addition and as an improvement of his program.

Caçapava do Sul, RS, Brazil produces 80% of the State’s rock-dust, and its 1st district is located near four marble quarries. A significant increase in Brazilian mineral extraction has caused serious environmental problems, such as the development and proliferation of diseases directly related to water resources. This study sought to investigate the water composition in the 1st district area. Geochemical investigation revealed waters classified as soft and hard, neutral and alkaline pH. Electric conductivity ranged from 95.7 to 548 μs cm-1, and total alkalinity ranged from 57 to 241 mg L-1. Ca and Mg ranged from 6.01 to 54.1 and from 4.6 to 32.75, respectively. All measured values met the potability standards for human consumption established by Ordinance Nos. 2914 (2011), 36-GM/1990, and1469/2000. Resumo O município de Caçapava do Sul é responsável por 80% da produção de pó de rocha do estado, e seu 1° distrito se localiza no entorno de quatro mineradoras de mármore. O aumento significativo da extração mineral no Brasil implica em sérios problemas ambientais. Um desses fatores é o desenvolvimento e a proliferação de patologias diretamente relacionadas aos recursos hídricos. A proposta desse estudo foi investigar a composição da água na área do 1º distrito. A investigação geoquímica das águas revelou águas classificadas como mole e duras, com pH neutro e alcalino. A condutividade elétrica varia de 95,7 a 548 μs cm-1, e a alcalinidade total varia de 57 a 241 mg L-1. Os teores de Ca e Mg variam entre 6,01 a 54,1 e 4,6 a 32,75, respectivamente. Todos os valores medidos atendem os padrões de potabilidade para consumo humano estabelecido pelas Portarias nº 2.914 de 2011 e nº 36/GM de 1990 e nº 1469 de 2000.

Rocks are the primary source of chemical elements found in the earth. Among them metallic elements, which are distributed in most natural environments and their distribution in soils is widespread. Knowledge of the soil chemical composition will provide subsidies for a prediction of phytotoxicity and possible groundwater contamination. Concentrations of metals, in the right quantities, are essential for maintaining life. Although, if in high quantities (toxicity), can cause damage to plants, animals, and humans. This work consists of a chemical analysis of soil samples in the region of Lavras do Sul / RS, where mineral deposits occur. Until the year 1981 mining activities occupied the area without municipality, resulting in ore and waste deposits at inappropriate places, generating environmental liabilities, contributing to soil chemistry, and consequently affecting public health. Through the energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDXRF) method, 20 soil samples were analyzed in two profiles surrounding the municipality. Among them, high concentrations of Zn, Cu, Ce and Cd were detected, possibly contributing to anthropic activities and seasonal fluctuations.
