Abstract

A study was conducted to assess the validity of self-reported use of reduced fat and reduced salt foods through analyses of data gathered from a supermarket and food supply questionnaire. The study revealed that external data did not back up the validity of self-reported use of such products. The findings, however, are nonrepresentative and, hence, preclude a definite conclusion. More research has to be done regarding dietary instruments.
