Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit einem Ansatz für eine verbesserte On-Board-Überwachung von Partikelfiltern in Fahrzeugen mit direkteinspritzenden Benzinmotoren für künftige Abgasgesetzgebungen. Zur Umsetzung einer On-Board-Überwachung wurden Elektrostatische Rußsensoren und Radio-Frequenz-Sensoren zur Bestimmung des aktuellen Beladungs- und Schädigungszustands des Partikelfilters verwendet. Durch die Erweiterung des derzeit zur Diagnose eingesetzten Differenzdrucksensors um den RF-Sensor konnte eine verbesserte Überwachung erzielt werden., This thesis deals with the development of a methodology for an improved on-board diagnosis of particulate filters in vehicles with gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology with regard to future emission legislations. To achieve this, the application of novel sensor concepts has been investigated, namely electrostatic soot sensors and radio frequency antennas. In the course of the work, it turned out that a combined sensor concept consisting of a differential pressure sensor and a RF sensor is most suitable.

Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt die hydraulischen Vorgänge bei der Einspritzung von reinen Pflanzenölen in Common-Rail-Dieselmotoren sowie deren Zünd- und Verbrennungsverhalten. Special attention was paid to the evaluation of engine related emissions with respect to the implementation of exhaust gas recirculation. In addition, a mathematical model was developed to calculate the ignition delay, separated into the chemical and the physical amount.

Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, die Entwicklung eines Kohlenwasserstoffsensors zur Funktionsüberwachung abgasemissionsrelevanter Bauteile im Dieselfahrzeug zu unterstützen. Zum einen sollte geprüft werden, welche Kohlenwasserstoffe sich für eine Synthesegaszusammensetzung zur Validierung des Sensors am Systemprüfstand eignen. Zum anderen galt es zu untersuchen, wie sich verschiedene Einflussparameter auf das Sensorsignal auswirken und ob eine Überwachung während des realen Betriebs im Fahrzeug möglich ist., The aim of this thesis was to support the development of a hydrocarbon sensor for the monitoring of emission-relevant components in diesel-engine vehicles. On the one hand, to validate the sensor on a test bench, a synthetic gas composition with suitable hydrocarbons had to be examined. On the other hand, the impact of various influencing factors on the sensor signal had to be considered and investigated. In addition, the capability to monitor emission relevant components during real operation in the vehicle should be evaluated.

Die Ölverdünnungsanalyse erfolgt dabei mittels der Bestimmung der Bestandteile des Kraftstoff-Öl-Gemisches über die Trennung der Stoffe durch ihre unterschiedlichen Siedetemperaturen kombiniert mit der Analyse der stoffspezifischen Moleküle. Neben der Gesamt-Analyse des Kraftstoffs mittels Flammenionisationsdetektor ermöglicht der Einsatz eines Massenspektrometers eine selektive Analyse einzelner Moleküle zur detaillierten Untersuchung der Kraftstoffbestandteile im Motoröl., This thesis describes the development of a new technique for the online measurement of oil dilution at combustion engines at steady state and transient engine operation. The oil dilution analysis is accomplished by means of determination of the components of the fuel-oil-mixture through separation of the components based on their different boiling points in combination with the analysis of the substance-specific molecules. Besides the total analysis of the fuel by means of a flame ionization detector the application of a mass spectrometer allows a selective analysis of individual molecules for a detailed investigation of the fuel components in the engine oil.

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurden verschiedene innermotorische Maßnahmen zur Reduzierung der gesetzlich limitierten Schadstoffe von Pkw-Dieselmotoren untersucht. Gegenstand der Untersuchungen waren dabei das Einspritzsystem (Modifikationen der Düsengeometrie), die Anwendung von Abgasrückführung und das Potential eines gesteigerten Lade- und Einspritzdrucks. Auf allen untersuchten Themengebieten konnten dabei nennenswerte Verbesserungen in den Emissionswerten ohne eine Erhöhung des Kraftstoffverbrauchs erzielt werden., In the context of this work different measures to reduce the engine emissions formation by improving the internal combustion process were investigated. This included the fuel injection system (modifications of the nozzle geometry), the proper application of exhaust gas recirculation as well as the potential of a high boost and injection pressure. It was possible to reduce engine out emissions significantly without getting any disadvantage in the fuel consumption of the engine.
