The steel-constructed buildings in Indonesia are on the rise, indicating a growing preference for their durability and versatility in construction projects. This led to the general application of Round Hollow Structural Section (Round HSS) as column and beam elements. Therefore, this study aimed to conduct parametric analysis of the effect of Diameter-to-Thickness Ratio (D t-1) on the three-point and four-point flexural analysis of Round HSS beam using MSC Marc/Mentat software. Nonlinear materials and geometries were employed, along with the application of contact analysis, with contacted and contacting bodies. Moreover, the load and boundary condition were set to be similar to the experiment. The results showed that a greater D t-1 led to the possibility of withholding a smaller load and causing smaller displacement in Group A with fixed diameter and different thickness values. Meanwhile, in Group B with fixed thickness but different diameters, a greater D t-1 led to the potential of restraining more load and experiencing smaller displacement. All specimens from both groups were observed to have failed due to a combination of global and local buckling at the right location under the load applied. AISC bending moment calculated was found to be greater than the values obtained from the finite element analysis for all sections under three-point loads. It was also discovered in the four-point flexural analysis that the bending moment of noncompact section was greater than for AISC while those for the compact section were lower. Aim(s): To increase conceptual clarity in the field of nursing regarding terms, purposes, and main features of rounding as investigated to date. Design: A Rapid Review according to the Cochrane Rapid Reviews Protocol. Review Methods: These were: (a) set the research question; (b) establish the study eligibility criteria; (c) search the databases; (d) select the studies; (e) extract the data; (f) assess the risk of bias; and (g) provide a synthesis using three methodologies, namely a qualitative content analysis, a thematic and a framework synthesis. Data Sources: MEDLINE (PubMed), Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health databases and grey literature from 2014 to 2022. Results: A total of 72 studies were included; 88 different terminologies are used to describe the rounding from one up to five words. "Preparing the care by ensuring an effective care plan, team and environment", "Delivering tailored and timely nursing care" and "Promoting the quality of care" are the three main purposes of the rounding, including several specific aims. Regarding the main features, these emerged from highly structured/prescriptive to low structured/prescriptive approaches to rounding intervention. Conclusion: The word "round" alone seems to be not sufficient to communicate and describe the intervention, suggesting that this field of research is entering within the complex intervention framework. The different aims of the rounding have been conceptually categorized into three main purposes whereas the intervention features may range from simple to very complex, where several options regarding who to involve, how and when to deliver are expressed. Implications for the profession and/or patient care: This rapid review followed by three data analysis methodologies have resulted in three main frameworks that may be useful to address the research, the clinical practice and the education regarding the terminologies, the different purposes and the main features of the rounding. Abstract Background Ward rounds are a cornerstone in the educational experience of junior doctors and an essential part of teaching patient care. Here, we aimed to assess the doctors’ perception of ward rounds as an educational opportunity and to identify the obstacles faced in conducting a proper ward round in Sudanese hospitals. Method A cross-sectional study was conducted from the 15th to the 30th of January 2022 among house officers, medical officers, and registrars in about 50 teaching and referral hospitals in Sudan. House officers and medical officers were considered the learners, while specialist registrars were considered the teachers. Doctors’ perceptions were assessed using an online questionnaire, with a 5-level Likert scale to answer questions. Results A total of 2,011 doctors participated in this study (882 house officers, 697 medical officers, and 432 registrars). The participants were aged 26.9 ± 3.2 years, and females constituted about 60% of the sample. An average of 3.1 ± 6.8 ward rounds were conducted per week in our hospitals, with 11.1 ± 20.3 h spent on ward rounds per week. Most doctors agreed that ward rounds are suitable for teaching patient management (91.3%) and diagnostic investigations (89.1%). Almost all the doctors agreed that being interested in teaching (95.1%) and communicating appropriately with the patients (94.7%) make a good teacher in ward rounds. Furthermore, nearly all the doctors agreed that being interested in learning (94.3%) and communicating appropriately with the teacher (94.5%) make a good student on ward rounds. About 92.8% of the doctors stated that the quality of ward rounds could be improved. The most frequently reported obstacles faced during ward rounds were the noise (70%) and lack of privacy (77%) in the ward environment. Conclusion Ward rounds have a special value in teaching patient diagnosis and management. Being interested in teaching/learning and having good communication skills were the two major criteria that make a good teacher/learner. Unfortunately, ward rounds are faced with obstacles related to the ward environment. It is mandatory to ensure the quality of both ward rounds' teaching and environment to optimize the educational value and subsequently improve patient care practice.

The simulation of supersonic or hypersonic flows often suffers from numerical shock instabilities if the flow field contains strong shocks, limiting the further application of shock-capturing schemes. In this paper, we develop the unified matrix stability analysis method for schemes with three-point stencils and present MSAT (matrix stability analysis tool), an open-source tool to quantitatively analyze the shock instability problem. Based on the finite-volume approach on the structured grid, MSAT can be employed to investigate the mechanism of the shock instability problem, evaluate the robustness of numerical schemes, and then help to develop robust schemes. Also, MSAT has the ability to analyze the practical simulation of supersonic or hypersonic flows, evaluate whether it will suffer from shock instabilities, and then assist in selecting appropriate numerical schemes accordingly. As a result, MSAT is a helpful tool that can investigate the shock instability problem and help to cure it.

Round or oval implants are used in patellar resurfacing during total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, whether component geometry affects clinical outcomes is unclear. This study aimed to determine if one implant shape conferred superior outcomes to the other. A retrospective review of primary TKA cases performed from 2016 to 2020 was conducted at an urban, tertiary academic center. Four hundred consecutive, primary TKAs were included in these analyses. Cases were included if a surgeon used the round design then oval design for fifty consecutive cases. Baseline demographic data and radiographic measurements were assessed. Surgical data, reasons for revision, and patient-reported outcome measures were analyzed. Independent samples t -test and chi-square tests were used to compare means and proportions. There were no demographic differences between the cohorts. Postoperative patellar tilt was statistically different between the cohorts. Sixteen patients required revision surgery; however, revision rates did not differ between the cohorts. Of the 9 rounds, 1 button was revised for infection. Of the 7 ovals, 1 button was revised for infection and 1 for loosening. Veterans RAND 12 Physical Component Score at 3 months postoperatively was higher for the round cohort, but no differences were observed at 1 year. While radiographic patellar tilt was significantly different between the cohorts, there was no clinical correlation in outcomes at 3 months or 1 year postoperatively. Longer-term follow-up studies are needed to evaluate the implications of patellar component design on outcomes and function. A comprehensive review of published works dealing with experimental studies of forced convection heat transfer of nanofluids is presented. The survey is limited to straight, smooth, and round tubes. Moreover, only mono nanofluids exhibiting Newtonian behaviour are considered. Works on experimental research of forced convection in tubes are presented in a chronological order in the first part of the article. In this part, attention was paid to the influence of nanoparticles on the intensification of heat transfer. Information on the tested nanofluids, the measurement technique used, and the measurement range are presented in tabular form. Correlation equations proposed by individual researchers are also presented. In order to explain the controversy regarding the different influences of nanoparticles on the intensity of heat transfer during forced convection of nanofluids, the second part of the paper presents a comparison of the test results obtained by different researchers for the same nanofluid, possibly under the same thermal and flow conditions. Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is an adverse drug reaction characterized by the development of well-circumscribed, round, dusky erythematous macules and plaques on cutaneous or mucosal surfaces. The reaction occurs on the same mucosal or cutaneous site with subsequent exposures to the offending drug. Although FDE usually manifests as a single lesion, in rare instances, more than one lesion may arise and this is referred to as a generalized eruption. Herein, we present a 31year-old man with history of cystic fibrosis who developed a generalized fixed drug eruption to piperacillin/tazobactam (Zosyn, Pfizer). We discuss our patient’s course and review causes and outcomes of generalized fixed drug eruptions in the literature.

Round pneumonia is a disease that occurs mainly in young children who have a clinical presentation of lower respiratory tract infection together with a chest radiograph showing round opacity. The mean age of patients with round pneumonia is five 5 years; it is uncommonly seen after the age of 8, as the collateral airways tend to be well developed by this age. In our case, we evaluated a 10-year-old girl who presented with fever, cough, and rounded densities on her chest x-ray. The rapid urinary antigen test for Streptococcus pneumoniae was positive, and serum anti-Mycoplasma pneumoniae antibodies were non-reactive. The diagnosis of round pneumonia was confirmed when the patient showed a complete recovery both clinically and radiographically after a course of penicillin and gentamicin.

We study the directed oxidation processes of the n-GaAs surface as a result of the electrochemical treatment of a semiconductor in an aqueous-alcoholic solution of hydrochloric acid. The analysis of the voltampere characteristics was carried out in order to study the process kinetics, this made it possible to establish the formation stages of the oxide film and islands. The surface morphology was estimated according to the area characteristics, linear sizes, Solidity and Round islands. It was shown that the oxidation occurs by the Stranski-Krastanov mechanism. The formation study of own oxides on the GaAs surface is extremely important, because oxides can significantly impact the material properties. The native oxides of semiconductors are an inactive film that reliably protects the surface from environmental action and when interacting with aggressive substances. In addition, the native oxides of GaAs exhibit semiconductor properties that allow to create oxide/GaAs heterostructures with heterojunctions for optoelectronic applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes simulations are performed to study a single, round impinging jet heat transfer problem, utilizing the generalized k-omega (GEKO) turbulence model as a benchmark. The simulations are performed at a jet Reynolds number of 23,300 and a nozzle-to-plate distance of 2.0 where a second peak in surface Nusselt number is observed. The effects of the three primary (C s e p , C m i x and C n w) and three auxiliary (C b f , l , C b f , t and C n w , s u b) GEKO calibration parameters are investigated. The results indicate that C m i x has the most significant impact on the laminar-turbulent transition zone. A deep learning based regression model is developed and trained using the simulation outputs for fast predictions of the heat transfer curve. Introduction: Over the last century, material science has made rapid progress. In orthodontics, not only the materials improved, but also the philosophies have changed. Orthodontic wires, which generate biomechanical forces through brackets for tooth movement, are central to the practice of this profession. Aim: To measure the force deflection properties of Nickel- Titanium (NiTi) wires of four manufacturers, used during orthodontic treatment. Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro study, 480 NiTi wires from four different manufacturers [American Orthodontics (AO), 3M-Unitek (3M), Rabbit Force Orthodontics (RO) and Modern Orthodontics (MO)], of various cross-sections was obtained. Samples of each wire were obtained by cutting the straightest distal portion of an arch wire, thus an approximate length of 5.5 cms was recovered. These wires were subjected to a five point bending test. Five lower anterior stainless steel brackets of tooth number 31,32,41,42 (MBT 0.022" Libral traders Centrino brackets) were fixed with the face of the bracket facing upwards on the acrylic block. Each NiTi wire was placed in the slots of orthodontic brackets and secured with stainless steel ligature wires. These wires were subjected to artificial saliva (Wet Mouth) for 30 days at 37°C. This temperature was regulated by using an incubator. The main assessment criterion was the force deflection property of the wire material. Force deflection was measured using a graph paper where initially the wire was placed and plotted on the graph paper. After the deflection of the wire it was again placed on the same graph paper such that wire ends coincided and the force deflection at the highest point was measured in millimetres using a digital Vernier Caliper (Mitutoyu). The Design Of Experiments (DOE) model was used for analysis and a three-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with wire shape as covariate was used for analysing the variability. Results: A 0.014" NiTi wire showed more mean deflection when compared to 0.016" NiTi wire. When a comparison between 0.016"x0.022" and 0.017"x0.025" NiTi wires was done, mean deflection was almost the same. When round and rectangular wires were compared it showed more mean deflection in round wires. When AO was compared with other three manufacturers. A significant difference (p-value <0.0001) was seen in the mean deflection values of MO and RO. When 3M was compared with the other three manufacturers a significant difference (p-value <0.0001) was seen in the mean deflection values of MO and rabbit force orthodontics. Three-way ANOVA test with wire shape as co-variate showed a significant amount of difference (p<0.0001) for AO, 3M wires with their counterparts. Conclusion: Round NiTi wires showed more force deflection as compared to rectangular NiTi wires. AO and 3M wires were superior as compared to RO and MO wires. Super-elastic wires showed more deflection as compared to Conventional and Heat-activated NiTi. This can be attributed to the property of the wire. Stiffer the wire, less deflection was seen. Guava (Psidium guajava L.) fruit physical and chemical characterization was performed across six distinct summer and winter seasons (Year I-III) in two elite cultivars (Round and Pyriform) to assess genotypic and seasonal variations and their correlations with the key environmental components. A strong negative correlation was found between in temperature with ratio fruit length to fruit diameter (FL:FD), total sugars (%) and rain fall with fruit weight, seed cavity weight and total sugars (%). Relative humidity (%) and sunshine (hrs) were positively correlated to fruit weight and ratio TSS:TA suggesting existence of a higher genotype × environment interplay which regulated contrasting changes in fruit traits. Most of the physical and chemical traits were higher in cv. Pyriform compared with cv. Round. Fruit produced in winter seasons had markedly better physical and chemical attributes compared with that of summer seasons. However, acid contents were higher during summer seasons. Traits like reducing sugars and ratio flesh weight and seed cavity weight (FlW:SCW) remained stable across contrasting summer and winter seasons over the years in both cultivars. Assessment of guava fruit physicochemical traits across multiple seasons provided precise estimates of genetic, seasonal and annual variations which could be useful in selection of parental material for future guava breeding and biotechnology applications. Abstract Introduction: Educational rounds play an important role in clinical education. This study aims to assess students’ viewpoints on night time educational rounds in internal medicine and emergencywards. Methods: The present study was interventional one-group posttest-only design. The participants consisted of residents and interns at internal medicine and emergency wards at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences. The participants in each group included a faculty member, residents (n=4) and interns (n=2). Each educational round took 1.5 hours. The status of educational rounds was assessed through a validated questionnaire. The participants filled out the questionnaire when contributed in the round at night after 3 times. Data was analyzed using SPSS V.19. Result: The result of the present study revealed that 73% participants were satisfied. "Necessity of night time round "," opportunity for asking questioning and contributing to the discussion" and “improvement of knowledge and learning"were identified by the participants as the reason for their satisfaction Conclusion: It is recommended that the night time educational round will be incorporated in medical education at hospitals. Bacteria show a plenty of cellular shapes and can alter their forms. The bacterial cell shape is functionally important. Bacteria have a number of options to select their shapes in order to uptake more nutrient, motility, attachment to surface, symmetrical division of chromosomal elements, and localization of complex secretion apparatuses. Some factors including peptidoglycan and cytoskeleton-like proteins can regulate and keep the bacterial shape. In the case of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the reported morphological variation in the pathogen are classified into two categories; those which frequently seen at exponential phase of growth that is rod, V, Y-shape, branched, or buds, and those that are seen occasionally under stress or environmental conditions which are round, oval, ultra-virus, spore-like, and cell wall defiant or L-forms. Growth conditions and age of the cells can influence on the shape and size of the pathogen in a range from coccobacilli to long rods. Under unsuitable conditions including starvation or oxygen deprivation, tubercle bacillus assumed a swollen shape without making the vacuolar or globoid bodies. The physical circumstances and nutritional feature will control the temporary lifestyle of the pathogen.

This paper shows new card-based cryptographic protocols with the minimum number of rounds, using private operations under the semi-honest model. Physical cards are used in card-based cryptographic protocols instead of computers to achieve secure multiparty computation. Operations that a player executes in a place where the other players cannot see are called private operations. Using three private operations—private random bisection cuts, private reverse cuts, and private reveals—the calculations of two variable Boolean functions and copy operations were realized with the minimum number of cards. Though the number of cards has been discussed, the efficiency of these protocols has not been discussed. This paper defines the number of rounds to evaluate the efficiency of the protocols, using private operations. Most of the meaningful calculations using private operations need at least two rounds. This paper presents a new two-round committed-input, committed-output logical XOR protocol, using four cards. Then, we show new two-round committed-input, committed-output logical AND and copy protocols, using six cards. Even if private reveal operations are not used, logical XOR, logical AND, and copy operations can be executed with the minimum number of rounds. Protocols for general n-variable Boolean functions and protocols that preserve an input are also shown. Lastly, protocols with asymmetric cards are shown.

The mandible serves as an important structure in relation to mastication as all the muscles of mastication are attached to it. The Coronoid process is the anterior bony projected part of ramus of mandible giving attachment to two important muscles of mastication. The aim of our study was to observe the variation in the size of coronoid process in relation to its side (laterality), shape, age and sex. The material for this study comprised of 80 (160 sides) dry human mandibles. The age and sex differentiating criteria were detailed in materials and methods. The size of coronoid process was found to be approximately 1.5 mm longer on the right side than on the left side; 0.01 mm longer in males than females and 0.01 mm longer in dentulous than in edentulous. Triangular coronoid process was found to be the longest followed by round and then hook shaped. Male hormonal impact on muscle growth, bone remodeling and psychology probably lead to enhanced functional stress on mandible due to mastication as compared to that in females. Pterygoid muscles are involved mainly in side to side movement and Masseter-Temporalis (M-T) component in the robust vertical thrust during mastication for crushing. The condyloid process is for pterygoid and M-T-Coronoid Lever complex engenders the proportionate sexual dimorphism as observed in this study. Poor crushing activity in the edentulous is also corroborated in our observation.This comparative study is a pioneer study which will be beneficial for the Anthropologists, Forensic scientists and Reconstructive surgeons. Ewing sarcomas are typified by EWSR1 fusion to ETS gene family members. Tumors with fusion partners other than ETS family members and atypical histologic features pose significant diagnostic challenges and controversies as to their classification. In this article, we report a tumor with EWSR1-NFATC2 fusion in the left femur of a 43-year-old man and with unusual morphologic features that resemble undifferentiated high-grade sarcoma. Analysis together with reported cases in the literature shows that tumors with EWSR1-NFATC2 exhibit distinctive clinicopathologic features, including predilection for young male adults, highly variable histology that varies from round cell tumors frequently associated with nuclear irregularity, short spindle cells with nuclear pleomorphism, to myoepithelial tumor-like with or without myxohyaline matrix. They show variable positivity to CD99, frequent expression of cytokeratins, and consistent high-level amplification of EWSR1-NFATC2 fusion gene with distinctive gene expression profile. Introduction: Educational rounds play an important role in clinical education. This study aims to assess students’ viewpoints on night time educational rounds in internal medicine and emergencywards. Methods: The present study was interventional one-group posttest-only design. The participants consisted of residents and interns at internal medicine and emergency wards at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences. The participants in each group included a faculty member, residents (n=4) and interns (n=2). Each educational round took 1.5 hours. The status of educational rounds was assessed through a validated questionnaire. The participants filled out the questionnaire when contributed in the round at night after 3 times. Data was analyzed using SPSS V.19. Result: The result of the present study revealed that 73% participants were satisfied. "Necessity of night time round "," opportunity for asking questioning and contributing to the discussion" and “improvement of knowledge and learning"were identified by the participants as the reason for their satisfaction Conclusion: It is recommended that the night time educational round will be incorporated in medical education at hospitals. The goal of the present study was to describe a case of perilymphatic fistula (PLF) of the round window (RW) that occurred after sneezing, along with a review of the literature. We report a case of PLF of RW, which was provoked by sneezing, and its consequent medical and surgical treatments. With respect to the review of the literature, articles were initially selected based on their titles or abstracts, followed by methodological evaluation. The patient underwent an explorative tympanotomy (ET) with packaging of RW with the pericondrium, following which the patient's complaints regarding vertigo and imbalance disappeared, but the severe sensorineural hearing loss persisted. For the literature review, five references were selected. These studies showed a great variety in the clinical presentation and healing of symptoms. Sneezing represents a rare but well-recognized cause of PLF, as reported in our case. The correct selection of patients who should undergo ET and an early surgical repair of PLF are mandatory for better outcomes, especially in case of hearing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Discretization of the convection term in a three-cell compact stencil has been widely used in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) of engineering because the second-order interpolation scheme is considered to be more robust and algorithmically simple than very high-order schemes. However, according to Godnunov's theorem, it has never been trivial to design an accurate and oscillation-free discretization scheme in a compact stencil. Over decades, various kinds of schemes have been proposed to increase accuracy beyond second-order without producing non-physical numerical oscillations. Representative schemes are polynomial-based non-linear interpolations such as TVD (Total Variation Diminishing), NVD (Normalized Variable Diagram) and third-order WENO (Weighted Essentially Non-oscillatory); and non-polynomial-based interpolations including RBF (Radial Basis Functions), LDLR (Local Double Logarithmic Reconstruction) and Tangent of Hyperbola for INterface Capturing (THINC). Within the semi-discretization finite volume method, existing reconstruction schemes suffer from different issues to some extent. For example, existing TVD schemes tend to cause smearing, clipping and squaring effects. Most WENO schemes and inconsistent RBF schemes are not scale-invariant. Especially, the improved WENO-Z scheme is neither scale-invariant nor mesh-size-independent. Computationally expensive non-polynomial-based interpolations usually have singularity and are dependent on tunable parameters. Thus, this work reviews reconstruction schemes by reformulating or calculating the reconstructed boundary value in the normalised-variable space where the characteristics of reconstruction schemes can be read directly. Through the accuracy analysis and the induction of existing schemes, this work proposes a Unified Normalised-variable Diagram (UND) where the following properties of a reconstruction scheme can be given diagrammatically: 1) the second-order and the third-order accuracy condition, 2) the TVD and CBC (Convection Boundedness Criterion) constrain, 3) the ENO condition, 4) the High Resolution (HR) property, 5) and the numerical dissipation and anti-dissipation error. The proposed UND framework is firstly demonstrated by the improvement of the existing schemes with a shape-preserving TVD limiter and a scale-invariant WENO scheme. Then, by defining the normalised reconstruction operator, a brand-new scheme named ROUND (Reconstruction Operator on Unified Normalised-variable Diagram) is proposed. The ROUND scheme is devised by directly configuring the normalised reconstruction operator of favourable properties on UND. This work presents a dissipative ROUND scheme in which normalised reconstruction operators are fully in the dissipative region of UND, and a low-dissipative ROUND scheme where rigorously adjusted anti-dissipation errors are introduced. Different formulations of ROUND schemes are presented to show the flexibility of designing schemes within the UND framework. The proposed dissipative and low-dissipative ROUND schemes are evaluated via benchmark tests which show the superior performance of ROUND on accuracy and resolution. Especially, in some cases, the low-dissipative ROUND schemes obtain comparable and even better resolution than classic fifth-order WENO. The significance of this work is further demonstrated by the preliminary results of applying ROUND on the FDM-IBM (Finite Difference Method and Immersed Boundary Method) framework. • A UND framework that unifies existing second-order schemes is proposed. • Improvement of TVD and WENO schemes with UND is presented. • Brand-new ROUND schemes are developed. • The superior performance of ROUND is demonstrated via benchmark tests. The low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) is the classical hierarchical topology control algorithm and still widely used today in wireless sensor networks. There are some problems in LEACH such us an unreasonable selection and uneven distribution of cluster heads, not considering the residual energy of nodes, the cluster head is overloaded and there is a high energy consumption of data transmission. In this paper, a topology control algorithm with double cluster heads and multi-hop based on affinity propagation clustering (APDC-M) was proposed. In APDC-M, firstly, a cluster head election algorithm with double choices based on the affinity propagation clustering algorithm (AP) and reference node strategy (APDC) was proposed. APDC is responsible to elect the fusion cluster head for node clustering. Secondly, a forwarding cluster head is elected within each cluster. The forwarding cluster head is responsible for the data transmission in order to reduce the energy consumption of a single cluster head. Lastly, the forwarding cluster heads complete the data transmission from a cluster to the base station by the shortest path inter-cluster multi-hop mode. The comparison simulation results show that APDC-M can make the cluster head election more reasonable and the cluster head distribution more uniform, and effectively reduce the energy consumption of the cluster head nodes when transmitting data, thus prolonging the network life.
