El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo profundizar en uno de los productos ofrecidos por el banco de Bogotá, los cuales son los repos en dólares, para un efectivo funcionamiento en el país de Panamá desde una réplica ya implementada en Colombia de estos en la negociación de valores, por medio del análisis de documentación recopilada en su sistema, pruebas en programas, simulaciones de compra y un estudio detenido en la contabilidad, registros, movimientos y demás ya efectuados. Por otra parte, es fundamental el análisis de la competencia en vista de que este producto lo manejan otras entidades financieras del país como Atlas Bank, Davivienda, Banco Azteca, etc.… haciendo que se genere una alta competitividad y aumentando en su propuesta de valorar para generar confianza y dar una mejor oferta dependiendo de la población, su economía y estabilidad. Abstract The present work had as objective to deepen in one of the products offered by the bank of Bogotá, which are the repos in dollars, for an effective operation in the country of Panama from a replica already implemented in Colombia of these in the negotiation of securities, by means of the analysis of documentation compiled in its system, tests in programs, simulations of purchase and a detailed study in the accounting, registries, movements and others already carried out. On the other hand, it is fundamental the analysis of the competition in view of the fact that this product is handled by other financial entities in the country such as Atlas Bank, Davivienda, Banco Azteca, etc... generating a high competitiveness and increasing in its value proposal to generate confidence and give a better offer depending on the population, its economy and stability. BACKGROUND: The Rotterdam Elderly Pain Observation Scale (REPOS) has not yet been validated for institutionalised cognitively impaired adults. To fill this gap of knowledge, we tested psychometric properties of the REPOS when used for pain assessment in this population.METHODS: In this multicentre observational study, residents were filmed during a possibly painful moment and at rest. Healthcare professionals were asked to rate residents' pain by means of a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS)-proxy. Two researchers assessed pain with the REPOS and the Chronic Pain Scale for Non Verbal Adults with Intellectual Disabilities (CPS-NAID) from video-recordings.RESULTS: In total, 168 observations from 84 residents were assessed. Inter-observer reliability between the two researchers was good, with Cohen's kappa 0.72 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.64 to 0.79]. Correlation between the REPOS and CPS-NAID for a possibly painful moment was 0.73 (95% CI 0.65 to 0.79). Sensitivity (85%) and specificity (61%) for the detection of pain were calculated with REPOS ≥ 3 and NRS ≥ 4 as a reference value. Item response theory analysis shows that the item grimace displayed perfect discrimination between residents with and without pain.CONCLUSION: The REPOS is a reliable and valid instrument to assess pain in cognitively impaired individuals.

The Eurosystem's asset purchase programmes reduced the free float of German Bunds. Market participants feared impaired market functioning in the Bund market and monetary policymakers unintended consequences for monetary policy transmission. We study the intended and unintended consequences of asset purchases in the repo market with Bund collateral. Bunds that are eligible for APP purchases carry a repo specialness premium even when they are not purchased. This "eligibility premium" is larger than the actual flow effect of purchases identified in previous research. Securities lending (SecL) operations have a flow effect, but its magnitude is even smaller than the flow effect of APP purchases. Therefore, the impact of SecL in the repo market is only of a quite limited extent. Furthermore, the effects of APP and SecL on repo specialness are relatively small compared to those caused by banks' balance sheets window dressing at quarter ends and by the hedging pressure for Bund Futures.

The stock market is one of the most prevalent elements in the Colombian financial system, the development it has experienced in recent years has allowed a greater economic situation and has guaranteed efficient medium and long-term financing of the country's productive sectors. Various instruments converge within this system, which are issued by public or private institutions and bought by national or foreign investors. One of these are securities with repurchase agreements, recognized as Repos, which arise as a financing alternative that allows market agents to borrow and / or invest with a limited commitment to repurchase and resell, respectively. These types of instruments have gained popularity in recent years because they allow savers to place cash with collateral and companies to raise capital without having to dilute. In view of the prominence that these operations have acquired, this work is oriented in the analysis and condensation of information concerning the trends and determining variations of the operations with repurchase agreement (Repo) in Colombia during the years 2019 and 2020, to achieve A deeper understanding first identifies the main characteristics of these operations, their risks, limitations and the role they play as monetary policy; then the behavior of the Repo contracts during the mentioned years is characterized, through the registration and analysis of the volumes traded; Finally, a comparative analysis of the years 2019-2020 is carried out, based on trends, transaction volumes and their value in the equity market. The work was supported by the quantitative research approach, with emphasis on the documentary review, the latter allowed the identification and analysis of the research carried out previously on the subject studied, material that was very useful for the development of current research and to which it was used as a reference source. Dentro de este sistema confluyen diversos instrumentos, que son emitidos por instituciones públicas o privadas y comprados por inversionistas nacionales o extranjeros. Uno de estos son los títulos con pactos de recompra, reconocidos como Repos, que surgen como una alternativa de financiamiento que permite a los agentes del mercado endeudarse y/o invertir con el compromiso limitado de recomprar y revender, respectivamente. Este tipo de instrumentos han ganado popularidad durante los últimos años porque permiten a los ahorradores colocar efectivo con una garantía y a las empresas obtener capital sin tener que diluirse. En vista del protagonismo que han adquirido estas operaciones, el presente trabajo está orientado en el análisis y condensación de información concerniente a las tendencias y variaciones determinantes de las operaciones con pacto de recompra (Repo) en Colombia durante los años 2019 y 2020, para alcanzar una comprensión más profunda se identifican en primer lugar las características principales de dichas operaciones, sus riesgos, limitaciones y el papel que cumplen como política monetaria; luego se caracteriza el comportamiento de los contratos Repo durante los años mencionados, a través del registro y análisis de los volúmenes negociados; y para finalizar se realiza un análisis comparativo de los años 2019- 2020, en función de las tendencias, volúmenes de operación y su valor en el mercado de renta variable. This dissertation analyzes topics related to unconventional monetary policy, safe assets, short-term funding, and the market for repurchase agreements.

In patients with obstructive pulmonary disease, airway narrowing can induce ventilatory disturbances such as expiratory flow limitation (EFL) and/or pulmonary hyperinflation (PH). In such a context, the metabolic balance could be disturbed within the intercostal muscle tissue, especially during exercise, which could promote the onset or worsening of dyspnea.To simulate ventilatory disturbances that may be encountered by patients with obstructive pulmonary diseases (e.g. abnormally high resistance of the airways to expiration, EFL and PH), a positive expiratory pressure (PEP) of 20 cmH2O was imposed at rest and during exercise in healthy subjects. Oxygenation of the intercostal muscles was measured by near-infrared spectroscopy at the 7th intercostal space.At rest, a decrease in oxyhemoglobin concentration ([O2Hb]) probably linked to a decrease in total hemoglobin concentration ([tHb], i.e. local blood volume) was observed in response to PEP (Study 1). However, no reduction in tissue oxygen saturation index (TSI) was reported (Studies 1 to 3), even in a context of PEP-induced PH (Study 2). During exercise, a lower increase in [O2Hb] and [tHb] was observed when PEP was imposed (vs. control). A decrease in TSI and inspiratory capacity was also reported between rest and exercise in this condition (Study 3).According to the results of our studies, when a PEP of 20 cmH2O is imposed at rest in young healthy subjects, no metabolic imbalance seems to occur in the intercostal muscles. However, when this PEP is imposed during exercise, a disturbance of the metabolic balance seems to happen. This could be partly explained by local hemodynamic alterations induced by PH. However, further studies are needed to clarify this aspect.Finally, no relationship between dyspnea and the metabolic condition of the intercostal muscles was observed during our studies. However, correlations between respiratory discomfort and instantaneous ventilatory flows were highlighted at rest and during exercise with PEP (Studies 1 and 3). Chaque mois, 4 dromadaires ont été identifiés dans chacun des deux troupeaux et suivis pendant 7 jours depuis leur sortie du parc jusqu’au retour au parc. Les principales activités de chaque animal ont été notées durant une minute par intervalle de 15 minutes. À la fin du suivi, les données ont été agrégées entre les trois saisons : saison des pluies (juin - septembre), saison sèche froide (octobre - février) et saison sèche chaude (mars - mai). Le temps de broutage (63,7 %) et celui de marche (25,4 %) observés à Niono ont été plus élevés qu’à Sotuba respectivement 53,3 % et 19,4 %. Par contre, le temps de repos a été plus élevé à Sotuba (25,5 %) qu’à Niono (8,8 %). Le temps consacré au broutage a été plus élevé pendant la saison des pluies (80,0 % à Niono et 65,0 % à Sotuba) que durant la saison sèche froide (62,0 % à Niono et 58,0 % à Sotuba) et la saison sèche chaude (60,0 % à Niono et 59,0 % à Sotuba). Le temps de repos dans la position débout a été de 65,5 % à Niono contre 40,1 % à Sotuba, tandis que celui du repos en position couchée a été de 21,9 % à Niono contre 51,8 % à Sotuba. Les animaux prenaient plus de temps de rumination à Niono (21,6 %) comparativement à Sotuba (6,6 %). Les dromadaires font moins de déplacement et plus de repos en zone subhumide que sur pâturage sahélien. Abstract: As part of a climate change adaptation program, two herds of adult dromedaries, one in the Sahelian zone (Research Station of Niono, 400-500 mm/year of rain) and the other in the sub-humid zone (Research Station of Sotuba, 800-1000 mm/year of rain) have been reared and monitored on pasture for 12 months for their grazing behavior. Every month, 4 dromedaries were identified in each of the two herds and were monitored for 7 days from their departure from the park to their return. The main objective was to compare the herd behaviors within and between seasons and zones. Individual animal activities were recorded for one minute at 15-minute intervals. At the end of the monitoring, data were aggregated for each of the three seasons: rainy (June-September), cold dry (October-February) and hot dry (March-May). The grazing (63.7%) and walking (25.4%) times observed in Niono were higher than those observed in Sotuba, i.e. 53.3% and 19.4% respectively. On the other hand, resting time was higher in Sotuba (25.5%) than in Niono (8.8%). Grazing time was higher during the rainy season (80.0% in Niono and 65.0% in Sotuba) than in the cold dry season (62.0% in Niono and 58.0% in Sotuba) and in the hot dry season (60.0% in Niono and 59.0% in Sotuba.). Standing resting time was 65.5% in Niono, compared with 40.1% in Sotuba, while lying resting time was 21.9% in Niono, compared with 51.8% in Sotuba. Animals took longer time to ruminate in Niono (21.6%) than in Sotuba 6.6%. Dromedaries walk less and rest more in the sub-humid zone pasture than in that of the Sahelian zone.

We show that repurchase agreements (repos) arise as the instrument of choice to borrow in a competitive model with limited commitment. The repo contract traded in equilibrium provides insurance against fluctuations in the asset price in states where collateral value is high and maximizes borrowing capacity when it is low. Haircuts increase both with counterparty risk and asset risk. In equilibrium, lenders choose to re-use collateral. This increases the circulation of the asset and generates a “collateral multiplier” effect. Finally, we show that intermediation by dealers may endogenously arise in equilibrium, with chains of repos among traders.

Interbolsa S,A. fue una compañía con un futuro prometedor y de gran ejemplo en su trayectoria en el mercado financiero en Colombia, creada de 1990 y que era principal representante en la bolsa, se desplomó. El gran escándalo financiero fue conocido gracias al impago de una obligación de 20.000 millones de pesos con el Banco BBVA y de ahí se conocieron más irregularidades que anunciaba la gran caída, debido a la crisis de iliquidez en la que estaba inmersa y que por ende le impedía seguir operando y responder con el resto de sus obligaciones. Esta noticia ocasiono que la acción de la compañía se desplomara en un treinta por ciento y generara un desconcierto en el mercado, las compañías y personas vinculadas a Interbolsa, pues estaban en riesgos sus ahorros; lo que para muchos era el ahorro de su vida. Se presentaron una serie de irregularidades como auto préstamos entre las mismas compañías, operaciones de alto riesgo como los repos, que consiste en la compra y venta de títulos para obtener liquidez, donde Fabricato era el jugador, pero el comportamiento de la acción era demasiado sospechoso, pues su valoración exagerada en el transcurso del tiempo empezó a generar gran especulación e incertidumbre. El papel que juegan los profesionales de la Contaduría Pública en este caso es de gran relevancia, pues el profesional de la Revisoría Fiscal es el responsable de realizar una fiscalización a las operaciones que reflejan la situación económica de la sociedad, y en caso de encontrar indicios de corrupción o prácticas ilegales tiene la obligación de darlo a conocer a las autoridades interesadas. ¿El profesional de la Contaduría Pública donde estaba?, esa es la pregunta que muchos trasladan, de manera independiente a la responsabilidad de las cabezas visibles del fraude, pues es evidente el encubrimiento por el silencio ante la situación crítica de la compañía y la permisividad en la continuación de operaciones de dudoso respaldo ético y profesional. Los profesionales involucrados junto con la firma con la que trabajaban para Interbolsa, violaron algunos principios éticos de la profesión por lo que fueron sancionados por la Junta Central de Contadores, y lamentablemente es un caso más de corrupción donde está involucrada la profesión y no se denunció. Les symptômes moteurs sont améliorés par le traitement dopaminergique et par la stimulation cérébrale profonde (SCP) du noyau subthalamique (NST). Il a été montré que le changement d’activité bêta est corrélé avec l’amélioration motrice des symptômes de bradykinésie et rigidité. L’hypothèse serait que les oscillations bêta pourraient être un physiomarqueur spécifique des symptômes moteurs de la MP. L’objectif de cette thèse est de comprendre l’activité du NST et de trouver un physiomarqueur de la MP : au repos et pendant un paradigme Go/Nogo.Dans une première partie, pour 55 patients, nous avons modélisé la puissance avec un modèle linéaire à effets mixtes dans six bandes de fréquences selon la position des électrodes, la présence de complications liées au traitement dopaminergique, de la sévérité des symptômes, et du changement de ces symptômes suite à la prise du traitement dopaminergique. Le changement le plus important entre OFF- et ON-DOPA est observé dans la bande low-bêta. Cependant, nous n’avons pas trouvé de corrélation entre la sévérité de la bradykinésie, rigidité, ou du score axial avec l’activité low-bêta. Mais, nous avons trouvé que la sévérité de la rigidité était associée aux fréquences supérieures à 20Hz. Nous avons également trouvé une corrélation positive entre la sévérité du tremblement dans toutes les bandes de fréquences, qui est très importante pour la bande thêta. Etonnement, nous avons trouvé que les complications liées au traitement dopaminergique pouvaient induire des informations dans toutes les bandes. Cet effet est très important pour la bande thêta. Nos résultats au repos suggèrent que l’activité bêta n’est pas le physiomarqueur idéal de la MP.Pendant le paradigme Go/Nogo, pour 15 patients, nous avons modélisé la puissance avec un modèle linéaire à effets mixtes pour toutes les fréquences selon la position des électrodes, la sévérité des symptômes, les données comportementales et cinétiques. Nous avons trouvé une spécificité temporelle et spatiale des activités du NST au cours du paradigme. Nos résultats montrent que le NST est impliqué dans le contrôle des différentes étapes du mouvement volontaire du membre supérieur et que le défaut de dopamine dans le circuit sensorimoteur des GB génère une série de changements oscillatoires au sein du NST lors du mouvement. Cependant, l'activité thêta est apparue comme une activité caractéristique en OFF-DOPA fortement corrélée aux paramètres comportementaux et cinétiques. Cette activité pourrait être le physiomarqueur de la MP pendant l'exécution d'un mouvement, son augmentation pourrait induire une réponse motrice et un mouvement rapide.

In this article it is argued that the burgeoning faith of policy-makers and regulators in the ability of central counterparties (“CCPs”) to absorb both counterparty and collateral risk in “sale and repurchase agreements” (otherwise known as “repos”)—and, in turn, in helping to forestall contagion in the form of so-called “repo runs”—is misplaced. In developing this contention, three major claims are advanced. First, for all their benefits, CCPs exhibit a major design flaw in as much as they are unable to diversify away market-wide systemic risk when counterparty failures become correlated—as exemplified by the global financial crisis (“GFC”). Secondly, this design flaw is remarkably similar to the flaw which the modern trend towards market-based finance exhibits, again, as revealed during the GFC, and as persists in its more recent “fund-based” guise, and that this parallel cautions against viewing CCPs in an unduly favourable light. That is to say, in much the same way that market-based finance helped to neutralize systemic risk in good or moderately turbulent times pre-crisis, but amplified it in times of acute market turbulence, so too CCPs are liable to exhibit similar tendencies. Finally, although the UK’s new regulatory and supervisory regime applicable to CCPs has much to commend it, these measures are, in fact, likely to be of limited assistance in ensuing that CCPs are able to perform their mutualisation role, or that they do not disrupt financial markets, when things go seriously wrong.

We show that repurchase agreements (repos) arise as the instrument of choice to borrow in a competitive model with limited commitment. The repo contract traded in equilibrium provides insurance against fluctuations in the asset price in states where collateral value is high and maximizes borrowing capacity when it is low. Haircuts increase both with counterparty risk and asset risk. In equilibrium, lenders choose to re-use collateral. This increases the circulation of the asset and generates a "collateral multiplier" effect. Finally, we show that intermediation by dealers may endogenously arise in equilibrium, with chains of repos among traders.

Collateral plays a very important role in financial markets. Without easy access to high-quality collateral, dealers and market participants would find it more costly to trade, with a negative impact on market liquidity and the real economy through increased financing costs. The role of collateral has become increasingly significant since the global financial crisis, partly due to regulatory reforms. Using bond-level data from both repo and securities lending markets, this paper introduces a new measure of collateral reuse and studies the drivers of the cost of obtaining high-quality collateral, i.e. the collateral scarcity premium, proxied by specialness of government bond repos. We find that the cost of obtaining high-quality collateral increases with demand pressures in the cash market (short-selling activities), even in calm financial market conditions. In bear market conditions - when good collateral is needed the most - this could lead to tensions in some asset market segments. Collateral reuse may alleviate some of these tensions by reducing the collateral scarcity premia. Yet, it requires transparency and monitoring due to the financial stability risks associated. Finally, we find that the launch of the ECB quantitative easing programme has a statistically significant, albeit limited, impact on sovereign collateral scarcity premia, but this impact is offset by the beginning of the ECB Securities Lending Programme.
