Prosthodontics practice involves contact with restorative materials, auxiliary dental materials which are broadly of different composition. The leakage and transfer of the potent allergic components from these materials is the cause of hypersensitive reactions to patients, dental professionals and the lab technicians. The biological side-effects of the materials that are in dental practice are rare. All artificial materials release substances in the oral environment which are potent allergens that might cause side effects and adverse reactions. The current study gives a statically about the dental professional knowledge and also makes the aware of toxic biological side effects of these materials, also make them aware of the reporting of the cases. A cross sectional survey was conducted among 100 dental professionals about the Toxic Biological effects associated with materials used in prosthodontics. Questionnaires with 20 close ended questions were circulated among people. Results obtained analyzed using SPSS software. In this Study, almost 80% of them were aware that some components of the dental materials might cause a hypersensitivity reaction. 57% of the participants have not experienced any allergic resin, latex, gloves etc. The prevalence of allergic reaction among Dental staff is low and most reported are due to latex, acrylate & formaldehyde. The present study shows that there is a lack of knowledge on the toxic biological effects of dental material used in prosthodontics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Food is just fortified into nutraceuticals and functional food. Nutraceuticals or bioceutical is a pharmaceutical alternative which claims nutritional sources. Functional foods are modified food which improve health by providing benefits beyond those provided by traditional nutrients. Eating habits and trends in food production and consumption have healthy environmental and social impacts. Blood pressure effects from different nutraceutical products have been studied with the specific food rich in minerals, lipids, whole protein and amino acid. Nutraceuticals range from isolated nutrients, specific diets to genetically engineered designer food herbal products and processed food such as cereals, soup and beverages. Recent experiment has shown that it may also inhibit plaque formation by bacteria in the mouth by the basic mechanism of inhibiting biofilm formation. Plaque is the primary cause of gingivitis. When there is an increased plaque accumulation, there is also an elevation of microbial count in the saliva and biofilm. The plaque deposition around the gingival margin constituting bacteria that are anaerobic and aerobic is capable of initiating periodontal disease and destruction. Fruits and vegetables contain thousands of biologically active phytochemicals some of which likely interact in a number of ways to prevent disease and promote health. Rapid changes in diet and lifestyle may enhance the expression of the harmful genes, which manifests in a sequence. There is an emergence of chronic disease in developing countries. Both pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals compounds might be used to cure or prevent diseases. Therapeutic injections like lipotropic injection are also shown to improve the result of diet and exercise.Compounds not suspected of having any antibacterial properties such as pesticide were shown to increase the minimum inhibitory concentrations of antibiotics against a strain of staphylococcus aureus both alone and in conjunction with antibiotics where Carbapenem are often considered to have a broad spectrum of activity. Introduction: Hypertension is another name for high blood pressure. It can lead to severe health complications and increases the risk of coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure, etc. The other dental-related problems in hypertension are gingivitis and periodontitis. Nowadays, periodontal disease can be also considered as another cardiovascular risk factor. In hypertension, alteration in microcirculation can cause ischemia in periodontium which favors periodontal disease. Experts believe that inflammation from gum disease may trigger or worsen inflammation in other parts of the body, including blood vessels and arteries. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted among dental patients with hypertension visiting Saveetha Dental College. Fifty hypertensive patients are chosen based on their medical records. Then, the scorings are given according to the severity of disease using the gingival bleeding index (bleeding on probing) and Russell's periodontal index. The demographic data were collected. From the hypertensive patients, their medications, dosage, and period of medications data were also collected. Results and Discussion: The study reveals that 66% of hypertensive patients have periodontitis and 34% of them have gingivitis. The molars are the severely affected tooth and the severity of periodontitis is measured by Russell's periodontal index. Conclusion: Hence, we can conclude that hypertensive patients are more susceptible to periodontitis than gingivitis from this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim and Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of balloon blowing exercise on wheezing patients. Introduction: Wheezing is a dynamic sign, occurs when airflow through narrowed airways, by creating vibrations in the audible frequency. In this highly polluted society, all age groups are affected invariably with respiratory diseases, in which wheezing is the most common condition. To control the severity of wheezing, Balloon blowing exercise has been introduced. It is cheap and can be followed by all age groups. The principle followed in blowing the balloon exercise is to increase the maximum expiratory volume of lungs. Materials and Methods: The sample size of 15 students of the age group 18-20 years was selected. They were given the balloon and asked to blow the balloon for the consecutive 30 days, both in the morning and evening for 15 min. The lung functions such as FVC, FEV1, and PEF were measured using spirometer before and after the exercise. Results and Discussion: There is a significant increase in the forced vital capacity (FVC) of wheezing patient after balloon blowing exercise. Among the respiratory function test parameters, only FVC showed a significant increase of P = 0.056. Since it is a pilot study, it had many limitations. Therefore, future studies need to be conducted with more subjects, measuring the balloon resistance accurately. Conclusions: Blowing the balloon strengthens the respiratory muscles and results in increased of forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one sec (FEV1), and peak expiratory flow (PEF). This exercise improves pulmonary function and reduces the risk of lung disorder from wheezing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: A belief that still endures is that the position of the moon and the phases cause certain physiological, psychological, and behavioral changes in humans and animals. The tidal changes in oceans are due to the gravitational force that is induced on earth by the moon. The full moon (FM) and new moon (NM) can beget social tension, mood swings, and disharmony in humans. There are incidences of increased road accidents, crime, and suicides on lunar cycles. The study states the behavioral changes in special children that include mentally ill, mentally retarded, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) persons. The study also indicates the management methods and medication to be followed during lunar cycles. Aim and Objective: This study aims to study the behavioral changes in mentally ill, mentally retarded, and ASD person in lunar cycles and their management techniques. Materials and Methods: The study is conducted in a population of 40 between the age group of 15 and 45 years that is divided into Samples I and II. Sample I population is the person who are treated at home and Sample II population is an inclusive of person treated in an institute. The study is conducted for a period of 2 months that comprises 2 days of FM and 2 days of NM. Fifteen queries were inquired, which are parted into A, B, and C and the observation is presented in bar graph representation. Results and Conclusion: The study explores the changes in Sample I who does not undertake medication while Sample II experiences a trivial behavioral change in their behavior. This minor change is due to the effect of medication that is specified, and hence, not much changes are observed in Sample II when compared with Sample I. These changes can be overcome by the management techniques that include the recreational activities, medical facilities, counseling facilities, and vocational training courses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
