An easy, fast, precise and cost effective First derivative UV estimation method has been investigated for the estimation of Capecitabine in various pharmaceutical dosage forms. The novel method was developed using Shimadzu Spectronic 1800 model UV-Visible Spectrophotometer. The region on the UV-spectrum between 240nm to 400nm in distilled water as the solvent was found to be suitable for the first derivative peak measurement of Capecitabine with a Linearity range throughout the concentrations of 40 microgram/ml to 80 microgram/ml. The method was successfully employed for the routine estimation on tablet dosage forms. The method was validated according to ICH guidelines. No interference from additives was observed.

In finance there has always been the problem of how to combine investments to form a portfolio. Progress on this problem we focus on some of the important applications such as Forecasting, Trading, Portfolio Selection and Management of Stock Market is considered as one of the fundamental building block of developed country. If number of investor’s increases then the economy of the country also increases and every investor invests to get good returns. But as stock market is uncertain and complicated the selection of good scripts are considered as one of the challenge in stock market field. So much work has been donein this field, The purpose of the present study is to review research articles from the period 2005 to 2018 and to find research gap for future work.

Zr-Nb alloys are usually processed in two phase region to get desired microstructure and mechanical properties for structural applications in nuclear industries. In the present work, small punch test (SPT) was performed to evaluate mechanical properties of the samples after hot compression in the two phase region at different temperatures and strain rates. The microstructure after hot deformation was characterized by the size of primary α, secondary α lath size, prior β grain size and texture developed. The deformed samples were characterized with the formation of 〈 11 2 ¯ 0 〉 fiber, which was found to strengthen with increase in deformation temperature. The yield load and maximum load was found maximum for sample deformed at 815 °C/1 s−1 due to combined effect of higher dislocation density and finer α lath size.

Empirical correlation parameters for evaluation of key mechanical properties of anisotropic Zr–2.5% Nb pressure tube (PT) material have been determined for Small Punch Test (SPT) and Automated Ball Indentation (ABI) Test. Parameters have been developed as a function of loading direction due to highly anisotropic nature of the material. Slopes of the linear fit correlations established for the SPT and ABI tests, showed good sensitivity of these techniques to wide range of microstructures in the alloy that resulted due to different heat treatment conditions. In the case of ABI, the difference in yield strength offset constant between the two directions of loading studied, represented the effect of texture. Similarly in the case of SPT the difference in intercept values of the, linear fit correlations established for evaluation of yield strength (YS) and the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) with respect to two directions of loading studied, clearly indicated the effect of anisotropy in the material. Comparison of tensile strength data, the ABI and SPT derived σy and σUTS data obtained for heat treated specimens used in the study, through currently established correlation parameters showed good agreement with each other for both the directions of loading, indicating proper standardisation of ABI and SPT techniques and proper values of empirical parameters have been arrived at for evaluation of key mechanical properties of Zr–2.5% Nb material. The overall study established that, the direction of loading bears significance while dealing with anisotropic material like Zr–2.5% Nb alloy and hence, direction specific correlations need to be used for evaluation of true mechanical properties for a given miniature test.

β-transus boundary for the Zr-2.5%Nb alloy containing 1137 ppmw of O and 650 ppmw of Fe was established using quenching dilatometry technique. The solid cylindrical samples of the alloy were β homogenised at 1063°C and then quenched at different rates between 0.06 and 200°C/s using the quenching dilatometer. The cooling part of the dilatograms were analysed to establish continuous cooling β transus boundary. Based on this β transus boundary heat treatment experiments were carried out on the alloy samples by holding at temperatures 883, 870, 863, 840°C in the α + βZr phase field and then quenching at different rates between 0.5 and 100°C/s to study the microstructural evolution and textural changes using electron microscopy techniques. An attempt has been made to correlate the transformation characteristics with the dilatograms recorded and the microstructural and textural changes have been ascertained.

Coated agglomerate pelletization (CAP) process is being developed for the fabrication of ThO 2 –UO 2 mixed oxide fuel pellets. The procedure for the fabrication of ThO 2 –4%UO 2 and ThO 2 –20%UO 2 pellets by this process has been described in detail in part I of this series of papers. The present part II deals with the characterization of the above pellets by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). The microstructure of the ThO 2 –4%UO 2 and ThO 2 –20%UO 2 pellets showed a duplex grain structure. Thermal expansion and thermal conductivity were measured in the temperature range from room temperature to 1500 °C. It was found that the thermal conductivity decreased by the addition of UO 2 to ThO 2 at any temperature. Addition of 20%UO 2 to ThO 2 caused very large decrease in thermal conductivity. The thermal expansion of ThO 2 –20%UO 2 pellet was different from that of ThO 2 and ThO 2 –4%UO 2 , e.g. it increased more rapidly with increasing temperature in the temperature range of 1000–1500 °C.

The multilocation plant sizing and timing problem (MLPSTP) is an important strategic management problem which involves determination of size, location, time-phasing and utilization of projects to meet the demands of spatially distributed customers. The objective for the analysis of such a problem has been to minimize the net present worth of the capital costs as well as the streams of operating and transportation costs. MLPSTP is a mixed integer programming problem involving both binary and continuous variables. The continuous variables relate to the transportation of commodities from site to market. The binary variables problem relates to the size, location and time-phasing of the projects. In this paper, an attempt has been made to analyse the problem by using hierarchical decomposition procedures. The approach has been to construct a two-level hierarchy; the first level identifying the distinct geographical areas as independent Subproblems, and the second level being the coordination level which aims at synthesizing the solutions of the area Subproblems.

Recent research has highlighted several examples wherein bacterial cell fate is determined by precise subcellular localisation of proteins. A prominent example is the polar localisation and oscillation of the Min proteins which is necessary for accurate cell division in Escherichia coli. Several computational models have been proposed which reproduce the oscillatory behaviour and observed phenotypes. However, these models use varying assumptions to do so leading to different mechanisms for precise polar localisation of MinD zones. To gain further insight, the authors extend a simplified model which focused on some key processes to explain the observed length scale for MinD zone formation. Using analytical approaches and numerical simulations, the authors explore cellular MinD distributions produced by these processes and propose a mechanism for precise polar localisation of MinD.

The authors present a DSS (decision support system) for multilocation plant sizing and timing problems (MLPSTPs) using the hierarchical decomposition-based optimization method as a model base, which may be amenable to distributed designs for DSS. MLPSTPs deal with the determination of optimal size, location, time phasing, and the utilization of the plants in order to meet the growing demands of geographically distributed customers. The objective function is normally taken as minimization of net present worth of capital costs plus streams of operating and transportation costs. MLPSTP are strategic planning problems with a long planning horizon, and their decisions affect the overall ability of a firm to meet the changes in demand, technology, and product lines. >

Let Π1 and Π2 be two Bernoulli populations with probabilities of success p1 and p2, respectively. In a recent paper Bechhofer and Kulkarni (1982) proposed a class of closed adaptive sequential procedures for the problem of selecting the population with the larger success probability. The procedures in this class achieve the same probability of correct selection, uniformly in (p1,p2), as does the single stage procedure of Sobel and Huyett (1957) which takes exactly n observations from each population. This paper considers the problem of selecting an optimal procedure within this class which minimizes the expected total number of observations under the assumption that p1 and p2 have independent prior Beta distributions. Recursion equations are derived which can be used to determine such an optimal procedure. Empirical procedures are described which are shown numerically to perform very well when compared with the optimal procedures. The class of empirical procedures for symmetric Beta priors is conjectured to be minimax within the class of procedures considered by Bechhofer and Kulkarni; strong arguments are presented to support this conjecture. The empirical procedure using uniform prior distributions for p1 and p2 is shown to have very desirable properties. The performance characteristics of this procedure are studied in detail, and based on these it is proposed as an attractive procedure to use in practice.

Various mathematical formulations are available for situations represented by vehicle routing problems. The assignment-based integer programming formulations of these problems are more common and easy to understand. Such formulations are discussed in this paper and a much simpler formulation for the vechicle routing problem is presented for the case, when all the vehicles have the same load capacity and maximum allowable cost per route.

This paper presents a hierarchical production planning approach as a distinct alternative to the monolithic approach by highlighting the detailed attributes of each approach in both philosophical and functional terms. A hierarchical approach interlinks the various decision making levels in an organization and the solutions are obtained for each level depending upon the characteristics of the decision problem at that level. An attempt is made here to study some heuristic approaches and apply them to a real-life problem situation. It is seen that the proposed heuristic approach performs better than some other available heuristics when the minimization of the number of backorders is considered to be a dominant objective.
