1. Biogas quality and nutrient remediation in palm oil mill effluent through Chlorella vulgaris cultivation using a photobioreactor

Abstract: BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: During this energy transition, research is being done to develop sustainable ways to support the shift to a decarbonized energy and production system. These ways include using renewable energy sources to promote circularity in products, green technologies, and safer procedures. Anaerobic digestion of palm oil mill effluent is a beneficial process for generating biogas, while the waste can also be utilized as fertilizer. The biogas can be further refined into biomethane, a valuable resource commonly used in transportation and power generation. The objective of this study is to examine the enhancement of biogas from Palm oil mill effluent and the elimination of sludge nutrients by utilizing microalgae Chlorella vulgaris. The microalgae will be cultivated in a modified photobioreactor to enhance the capture of carbon dioxide.METHODS: The study utilized anaerobic batch reactor digesters. A modified photobioreactor, consisting of two columns separated by a membrane, was developed for the technological advancement of biogas upgrading, specifically for carbon dioxide capture and biogas upgrading. A technological gap in biogas upgrade technology innovation is filled by the improved photobioreactor. To optimize the bio-fixation of carbon dioxide from flue gas, it is essential to carefully select a suitable strain of microalgae that possesses both a strong ability to absorb carbon dioxide and a high tolerance to varying concentrations of this gas. By choosing the right strain, the efficiency of carbon dioxide removal can be significantly enhanced. Since Chlorella vulgaris microalgae have demonstrated this potential, they were chosen for this investigation. Microalgae also play a role in removing nutrients contained in the sludge. FINDINGS: Numerous chemical and biological methods have been used to upgrade biogas. Results of biological upgrading of biogas from palm oil mill effluent have been reported, with carbon dioxide removal reaching 89 percent until the methane concentration of the biogas is upgraded to 84 percent. The highest biomass of 1,835 grams per liter was achieved by culturing the microalgae Chlorella vulgaris in laboratory-scale photobioreactors. In this study, the application of 15 percent volume per volume biogas with an optical density of 0.4 was found to be optimal for the growth of the microalgae. The cultivation period lasted for 14 days. The peak biomass production was observed due to the achievement of a remarkable 98 volume per volume efficiency in carbon dioxide removal, which subsequently led to a significant rise in methane content, reaching 60 percent. The enhanced biogas achieved a peak methane content of 98 percent, indicating a significant improvement in quality.CONCLUSION: The findings of this study, conducted using a modified photobioreactor, indicate that Chlorella vulgaris demonstrated high efficacy in the removal of carbon dioxide, with a rate of up to 90 percent. Additionally, it exhibited remarkable performance in upgrading biogas derived from palm oil mill effluent, achieving a conversion rate of up to 98 percent. The optical density of microalgae at 0.4 played a crucial role in these processes. Furthermore, Chlorella vulgaris showcased its ability to effectively eliminate nutrient nitrogen, reaching a removal rate of 90 percent at an optical density of 0.2. Abstract: ABSTRACT: The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of potassium-based emulsifying salts (ES; 2% wt/wt concentration) with different phosphate chain lengths (dipotassium hydrogenphosphate [K2HPO4; DKP], tetrapotassium diphosphate [K4P2O7; KTPP], pentapotassium triphosphate [K5P3O10; TKPP]) on the physicochemical, viscoelastic, textural, tribological, thermal, and sensory properties of processed cheese (PC; 40% wt/wt DM, 50% wt/wt fat in DM) during a 60d storage period (6°C ± 2°C). On the whole, the hardness of all PC samples increased with the increasing chain length of ES (DKP < TKPP < KTPP) and the prolonging storage period. Moreover, the hardness results were in accordance with those of the rheological analysis. All PC samples exhibited a more elastic character (G′ > G″; tan δ < 1). The type of potassium-based ES affected the binding of water into the structure of the PC. Furthermore, the study confirmed that the manufactured PC received optimal sensory scores, without any excessive bitterness. It could be concluded that the type of applied ES and storage length affected the functional properties of PC. Finally, the information provided in this study could serve as a tool for the dairy industry to help appropriately select potassium-based ES for PC manufacture with desired properties.

Abstract: Objective: To thoroughly evaluate the current measles epidemiological surveillance (ES) system in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan (RT), to uncover its strong points and areas for improvement. Methods: The ES system evaluation for measles was conducted from January to May 2023 using updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), USA, for ES system evaluation. Results: Upon analysis, it was found that the ES system for measles in Dushanbe functions within an overcomplicated framework that does not have proper integration with medical data systems. The current system experiences delays in sharing data at all levels; it is based on passive case detection via patient self-referral. 32.2% of patients visit urban health centers (UHC), while 67.8% go to infectious diseases hospitals. Shortcomings have been found in disseminating knowledge and implementing approved methodological recommendations by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan (MHSPP RT) in the State Sanitary Epidemiological Surveillance Service (SSESS) centers. This deficiency is due to the absence of guidelines on the Ministry's official website, the lack of a centralized repository of guidelines, and the unavailability of training platforms for epidemiologists. Although about 80% of patients have access to measles laboratory diagnostics, the system's reliance on external funding raises issues regarding its effectiveness. Insufficient human and financial resources have been identified as barriers to timely decision-making, as illustrated by the delays in rolling out mass supplementary childhood vaccinations in September 2022 following a measles outbreak detected in January 2022. Abstract: Introduction: Non – Communicable Diseases, driven by factors like increased life expectancy, urbanization and unhealthy lifestyles have become a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. India is undergoing a health transition, with Cardio Vascular Diseases now representing a significant part of its disease burden. Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of CVD risk and its associated factors using World Health Organization/ International Society of Hypertension risk prediction charts. Method: A community based cross-sectional study was conducted for a period of 18 months among 545 participants in Poonamallee Taluk, Tiruvallur district. Participants were selected using a multistage simple random sampling method. Sociodemographic data were collected through interviews, and blood samples were taken to assess blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Descriptive statistics for background variables were computed using SPSS 21. The association between various factors and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk was analysed using the chi square test. Abstract: The first measurement of HΛ3 and H‾Λ‾3 differential production with respect to transverse momentum and centrality in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV is presented. The HΛ3 has been reconstructed via its two-charged-body decay channel, i.e., HΛ3→3He+π−. A Blast-Wave model fit of the pT-differential spectra of all nuclear species measured by the ALICE collaboration suggests that the HΛ3 kinetic freeze-out surface is consistent with that of other nuclei. The ratio between the integrated yields of HΛ3 and He3 is compared to predictions from the statistical hadronisation model and the coalescence model, with the latter being favoured by the presented measurements.

Abstract: The production yields of antideuterons and antiprotons are measured in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV, as a function of transverse momentum (pT) and rapidity (y), for the first time rapidity-differentially up to |y|=0.7. The measured spectra are used to study the pT and rapidity dependence of the coalescence parameter B2, which quantifies the coalescence probability of antideuterons. The pT and rapidity dependence of the obtained B2 is extrapolated for pT>1.7 GeV/c and |y|>0.7 using the phenomenological antideuteron production model implemented in Pythia 8.3 as well as a baryon coalescence afterburner model based on EPOS 3. Such measurements are of interest to the astrophysics community, since they can be used for the calculation of the flux of antinuclei from cosmic rays, in combination with coalescence models.

Abstract: Industrialization, technology, and population growth have on one hand resulted in the rapid rise for energy demand and on the other hand led to the pursuit for alternative carbon neutral energy sources to satisfy demand, address climate change and promote sustainable development. The transition to renewable energy sources has resulted in the rapid rise in energy storage options with battery technologies at the forefront. Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have emerged as a leading battery energy storage option. The rise in LIB technology demand has resulted in a proportional increase in the demand for the various materials used in their manufacture. Primary sources of several of the LIB component materials largely consist of mining activities, however, recycling has emerged as a promising secondary material source. In this work, we evaluate the application of a green, organic acid treatment approach utilizing propionic acid in the recovery of key metals from LIB cathode materials. The study delved into exploring the application of both commercially sourced virgin LIB cathode powder (VCP) and recovered spent LIB cathode powder (SCP) and investigating the system leaching characteristics. The highest metal recoveries were obtained on leaching the SCP, with metal recoveries determined as 92.9%, 87.4%, 92.7% and 94.0% for Co, Li, Mn and Ni respectively. The difference in the recoveries on leaching metals from the VCP and SCP was under 5% for each metal. Further, the leaching model was determined as chemical reaction-controlled on using the SCP, and the activation energies were evaluated as 60.37 kJ/mol, 53.38 kJ/mol, 63.98 kJ/mol and 60.20 kJ/mol for Co, Li, Mn and Ni respectively, agreeing with the deduced chemical reaction-controlled leaching mechanism. By application of a simple organic acid, propionic acid, for organic acid leaching operations we contribute to the diversification of the lixiviant options for LIB waste treatment.

10. On the enhancement of acceptable blockage of open jet wind tunnel by employing modifications based on concepts of boundary layer and jet flow for testing of aero-rotors

Abstract: The conventional closed and open jet tunnels suffer from various adverse blockage effects that alter the flow conditions generating erroneous results when larger than allowable blockage models are tested. The maximum acceptable blockage is limited to 25 % for an open jet tunnel. The physics behind the inferior blockage capacity and their redressal is investigated. Hitherto, numerical models are developed to rectify the blockage troubles that introduce an additional complex case-based mathematical modeling to reckoning the results. In the current paper novel approach to redesigning the tunnel to solve blockage troubles is investigated that facilitates evading of mathematical techniques and securing accurate results straightforwardly. A hypothetical design incorporating the remedies is proposed, capable of conditioning the flow in a manner that debilitates the adverse effects of solid blockage, wake blockage, jet expansion, etc. The hypothesis is theoretically expounded by the boundary layer and jet flow phenomenon. The modified blower-type open jet wind tunnel constitutes a centrifugal blower, long inlet duct, plenum chamber around the test section, and collector. The modified wind tunnel is tested through experiments executed on four different-sized Savonius rotors creating 10 %, 30 %, 50 %, and 60 % blockage. The static pressure along the contours of the blades of rotors is obtained. The experimental results are juxtaposed with CFD results carried out at free-wind boundary conditions and standard classic experimental results performed in conventional wind tunnel at 11 % blockage. A blockage enhancement of 25 % is achieved by the approach of modification in the design of a conventional open jet wind tunnel.

Abstract: An algorithm for solving the inverse problem of electrical prospecting by the method of vertical electrical sounding (VES) using neural networks (NN) is presented. The use of NN is aimed at identifying complex patterns and dependencies that may not be available for traditional methods of quantitative interpretation of electrical prospecting data. The algorithm includes the formation of a training sample; training NN and directly obtaining solutions; combination of solutions found with the help of NN and selection of the optimal solution to the inverse problem of VES. The algorithm is tested on model data and practical materials in order to evaluate its capabilities. Geoelectric sections constructed using NN based on the results of field observations were compared with the results of quantitative interpretation performed in the «ZOND» program. The advantages and disadvantages of the created algorithm for solving the inverse problem of VES, as well as ways for its further development are characterized.

12. ASSESSMENT OF LONG-TERM OUTCOMES OF BIATRIAL COX-MAZE IV CRYOABLATION IN COMBINED CARDIAC SURGERY

Abstract: Objective: To analyze the results of biatrial (BA) Cox-Maze IV cryoablation during combined heart surgeries Methods: The study involved 88 patients who underwent BA cryoablation and concomitant cardiac surgery. The inclusion criteria were patients who underwent BA cryoablation and concomitant cardiac surgery between 2019 and 2021. The types of atrial fibrillation (AF) observed were as follows: persistent – 39 (44.3%) and long-term persistent – 49 (55.7%) cases Results: The following procedures were performed: coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in 5 cases (5.7%), isolated valve repair in 67 cases (76.1%), and valve repair combined with CABG in 16 cases (18.2%). The aortic cross-clamping (ACC) time was 143 minutes [range: 120.5-161.5], and the cardiopulmonary bypass time was 193.5 minutes [range: 168.5-210]. BA Cox-Maze IV cryoablation was performed in all cases. The hospital mortality rate was 1.1%. Sinus rhythm was restored at the time of discharge in 81 patients (92%). Two patients (2.3%) received a permanent pacemaker. The survival rates at 1, 2, 3, and 4 years were 88.9%, 88.9%, 82.2%, and 73.5%, respectively. The rates of remaining free from AF at 1, 2, 3, and 4 years were 87.5%, 80.7%, 68.3%, and 38.6%, respectively. Conclusion: Cryoablation using the maze procedure as a concomitant step during cardiac surgery is a safe procedure with a high likelihood of restoring sinus rhythm.

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the chemical composition, rheological behavior, and photostability of Cerrado passion fruit seed oil during 225 days of storage. To this end, the quality indices, fatty acid composition, rheological behavior, and photostability were evaluated. The findings revealed that the oil is notably rich in unsaturated fatty acids. It showed a high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid. Furthermore, the oil showed lower viscosity compared to other vegetable oils. The oil also exhibited better physical-chemical stability when stored under light protection, retaining its color intensity and remaining suitable for consumption for an extended period of up to 135 days. These results highlight the importance of Cerrado passion fruit seed oil as a sustainable and versatile material with potential applications in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries.

14. Whole-genome analysis of resilience based on the stability of reproduction performance during a porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus outbreak in sows

Abstract: The Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) is a very prevalent viral pathogen that can induce reproductive failure in infected sows. PRRSV infection can result in smaller litters, foetal death, late-term abortions and retarded growth of infected piglets. Not all sows respond equally to the infection partly due to genetic factors. In this study, we aimed to characterise the genetic variability of pig resilience to PRRSV infection by using a stability reproductive performance (SRP) index as a proxy of resilience. By comparing reproductive data from 183 sows, we selected 48 sows with extreme SRP values, measured as the difference in piglets lost at farrowings before and during a PRRSV outbreak. Short-read DNA fragments were sequenced from selected sows using an Illumina platform. The analysis of whole-genome sequencing information identified 16 genome regions associated with the SRP classification (cut-off P-value < 10−6). Functional evaluation of the positional candidates by gene-ontology identifiers and their participation in biological pathways were used to identify genes involved in virus entry and replication (vimentin, RAC1 and OAZ2) but also in immune responses from the host (IRF1, and IL4, IL5 and IL13). Importantly, genes related to chemokines, extracellular proteins and cell-to-cell junction integrity might contribute to placental microseparations, facilitating the trafficking of viral particles from sow to foetus that takes place during the pathogenesis of transplacental PRRSV infection. However, given the small number of animals in the study, these results shall need to be validated in larger populations.

Abstract: Algal blooms, the spread of algae on the surface of water bodies, have adverse effects not only on aquatic ecosystems but also on human life. The adverse effects of harmful algal blooms (HABs) necessitate a convenient solution for detection and monitoring. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have recently emerged as a tool for algal bloom detection, efficiently providing on-demand images at high spatiotemporal resolutions. This study developed an image processing method for algal bloom area estimation from the aerial images (obtained from the internet) captured using UAVs. As a remote sensing method of HAB detection, analysis, and monitoring, a combination of histogram and texture analyses was used to efficiently estimate the area of HABs. Statistical features like entropy (using the Kullback–Leibler method) were emphasized with the aid of a gray-level co-occurrence matrix. The results showed that the orthogonal images demonstrated fewer errors, and the morphological filter best detected algal blooms in real time, with a precision of 80%. This study provided efficient image processing approaches using on-board UAVs for HAB monitoring.

Abstract: ABSTRACT This study presents a macroscopic description of the brachial plexus in the royal sloth, Choloepus didactylus, and the common sloth, Bradypus variegatus, to identify the points for anesthetic block to perform surgical procedures. Six C. didactylus and nine B. variegatus had their forelimbs dissected, exposing the brachial plexus, and the points for blockage were located subsequently. In general, the formation of the brachial plexus in C. didactylus involved C5-T1 nerves, whereas the brachial plexus in a few individuals of the species involved C4-T2. In B. variegatus, the brachial plexus was contributed by C6-T2. In both species, the ramifications gave rise to three trunks that joined together to form a common brachial plexus trunk. In the brachial plexus block technique, four accesses were performed: supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillary, and distal. The results of this study contribute to surgical and anesthetic procedures and research on comparative anatomy among wild animals.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Brucellosis is an important bacterial disease of global distribution with zoonotic potencial. Serological tests used in Brazil for diagnosis of bovine brucellosis, including the Rose Bengal test (RBT), 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME), fluorescent polarization (FPA), and complement fixation (FC), are based on the smooth lipopolysaccharide antigen (S-LPS) of Brucella abortus. The aim of this study was to evaluate a recombinant BP26 protein used as antigen in a rapid lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (rBP26-LFIA) for serological diagnosis of bovine brucellosis. Analytical performance of rBP26-LFIA was evaluated in positive and negative bovine serum samples previously characterized by RBT and 2-ME. Estimates of analytical sensitivity and specificity were 73.91% and 97.14%, respectively. Bovine sera reactive to Neospora, Trypanosoma vivax or Leptospira were used to assess specificity because these diseases are commonly associated with abortion in cattle. In addition to a possible cross-reaction induced by commercial vaccines against Leptospira in serological tests for bovine brucellosis using S-LPS as an antigen. In conclusion, rBP26-LFIA, with its current standardization, had good analytical performance. However, a future evaluation of diagnostic performance by rBP26-LFIA with samples from regions with known prevalence is necessary for its recommendation for use in the Brazilian program for the control and eradication of bovine brucellosis.

Abstract: Tracking pathogen transmissibility during infectious disease outbreaks is essential for assessing the effectiveness of public health measures and planning future control strategies. A key measure of transmissibility is the time-dependent reproduction number, which has been estimated in real-time during outbreaks of a range of pathogens from disease incidence time series data. While commonly used approaches for estimating the time-dependent reproduction number can be reliable when disease incidence is recorded frequently, such incidence data are often aggregated temporally (for example, numbers of cases may be reported weekly rather than daily). As we show, commonly used methods for estimating transmissibility can be unreliable when the timescale of transmission is shorter than the timescale of data recording. To address this, here we develop a simulation-based approach involving Approximate Bayesian Computation for estimating the time-dependent reproduction number from temporally aggregated disease incidence time series data. We first use a simulated dataset representative of a situation in which daily disease incidence data are unavailable and only weekly summary values are reported, demonstrating that our method provides accurate estimates of the time-dependent reproduction number under such circumstances. We then apply our method to two outbreak datasets consisting of weekly influenza case numbers in 2019–20 and 2022–23 in Wales (in the United Kingdom). Our simple-to-use approach will allow accurate estimates of time-dependent reproduction numbers to be obtained from temporally aggregated data during future infectious disease outbreaks.

Due to the tiny size and stability, microbially synthesized nanoparticles increase the bioavailability of phosphorus. Microbial synthesis of phosphorus-related nanoparticles is not well studied up to now and the area is open for plenty of studies. Deep discovering of the nano formulating mechanism at the genetic level is highly required for the development of nanoparticle synthesis by microbes. Scaling up the technique for mass production is required. Toxicological assessments of phosphorus-related nanoparticles are highly required before the application in the agricultural sector to confirm the safety. If in-depth studies can thorough the knowledge in the field and minimize the existing limitations, microbial synthesis of phosphorus-related nanoparticles would be revolutionized the agricultural sector.

Abstract: Many health benefits have reportedly been associated with mushroom consumption. This study determined the chemical constituents of Pleurotus ostreatus methanol extract (MEPO) and investigated its antioxidant and antidiabetic effects using in vitro and in silico approaches. The chemical composition of MEPO was determined using the gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID) technique, while 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) methods were used to determine antioxidant activity. The antidiabetic activity was evaluated using α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition assays, while molecular docking was done to give insight into the binding potentials of MEPO constituents against α-amylase, α-glucosidase, and phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) carboxykinase activities. Thirteen compounds, including ephedrine, oxalate, rutin, naringin, and kaempferol, were identified in MEPO. The extract showed moderate antioxidant activity, as observed from the DPPH (IC50 = 732.41 mg/ml) and FRAP studies. The extract also demonstrated stronger inhibition of α-glucosidase activity (IC50 = 246.58 mg/ml) than α-amylase activity (IC50 = 1074.05 mg/ml). Docking studies revealed that rutin and naringin interacted effectively with amino acid residues crucial for α-amylase, α-glucosidase, and PEP carboxykinase activities via hydrogen bonds. The result shows that MEPO is a rich store of beneficial compounds which could be explored for the management of diabetes and associated complications.

Abstract: BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The Indonesian Government is promoting sorghum as an alternative commodity to substitute wheat. The cultivation of this commodity on dryland is initiated in forestry areas through social programs. This study aimed to analyze the economic feasibility, perception of farmers, and environmental sustainability of sorghum-eucalyptus agroforestry in Majalengka.METHODS: This study innovatively combined qualitative and quantitative methods to assess economic, social, and environmental aspects across five dimensions, namely business organization, actors, working mechanisms, economic impacts, and sustainability of business and environment. Data were collected through focus group discussions and interviews with questionnaires, containing 5 dimensions and 23 attributes. The data collected were analyzed using the revenue-cost ratio, Likert scale, and scoring formulation, as well as multi-dimensional scale method. The level of environmental sustainability status and leverage attributes were examined using the Rapfish program and Monte Carlo analysis.FINDINGS: Sorghum-eucalyptus agroforestry was economically feasible with a revenue-cost ratio value higher than one. Farmers’ perceptions regarding the five dimensions of sorghum-eucalyptus were positive except for the operational mechanisms, and business and environmental sustainability. A distinfuished area of unfavorable perception was the use of sorghum waste as a substrate for renewable energy. The environmental sustainability index for sorghum-eucalyptus agroforestry was categorized as low except for the economic (61.9) and actor (52.3) which attained the moderately sustainable. The results showed that the sustainability analysis using multi-dimensional scale could be used as a guide in formulating strategies for enhancing and developing sorghum-eucalyptus agroforestry in the future.CONCLUSION: The problems in this study were related to the institutional governance of agroforestry business. The inclusion of the community, government, and private sector was unequal in carrying out the sustainability function of each dimension. The challenge for the future was proper and sustainable management of development efforts to realize economic sustainability, add value for society, and ensure environmental sustainability in agroforestry areas.

The productivity depends on the specific variety, environment, infrastructure, and technology used. Sorghum cultivation in Indonesia is carried out primarily using agroforestry or monoculture. Despite not being as popular compared to rice and corn due to the prevalence of these staples in Indonesian diets, sorghum has the potential to replace corn because its cultivation is easier and the results are more profitable. Therefore, this study aimed to determine sustainability index and potential of sorghum for food and feed by identifying dimensions and attributes that influence sustainability.METHODS: This study was conducted at Raji, Demak, Central Java, Indonesia in 2023. Data were collected through focus group discussions and structural questionnaires consisting of 28 attributes associated with environmental, social, economic, and technological dimensions. Multidimensional scaling method and Rapfish software were used for data analysis. Monte Carlo analysis was used to ascertain sustainability level and attributes leverage, as well as check errors and variations in assessment.FINDINGS: The results showed that sustainability index of sorghum for food and feed was 79.67, categorized as very sustainable. Analysis across four dimensions showed that the social dimension had the highest (83.80) sustainability index, followed by the technological (82.28), economical (77.46), and environmental (75.15) dimensions. A total of 12 attributes were found to greatly affect sustainability. These included land availability, the efficiency of water used, the prevention of natural resource exploitation, motivation level, minimal interference with primary agricultural activities, community acceptance, productivity, sales profit level, ease of sale and cultivation, tools availability, and technological sensitivity.CONCLUSION: Sustainability index of sorghum for food and feed was categorized as very sustainable with a value of 79.67. This index consisted of the environmental (75.15), social (83.80), economical (77.46), and technological dimensions (82.28). The average productivity at the study site was 6-7 tons per hectare, with a production potency of 300-350 tons per year. Additionally, the potency of sorghum stover production was 471.8 ton per year of dry matter and could be used as feed for 163 animal units per year

Abstract: Background: Standardized reporting leads to high-quality data and can reduce administration time. The aim of this study was to (1) get an insight into the variability of what is considered important to report in the surgical report following shoulder instability surgery and (2) determine which elements should be included in the surgical report following shoulder instability surgery according to Dutch surgeons using a Delphi method. Methods: Dutch orthopedic shoulder surgeons were included in a panel for a Delphi study consisting of 3 rounds. Importance of the elements was rated on a 9-point Likert scale. High variability was defined as an element that received at least 1 score between 1 and 3 and 1 score between 7 and 9 in round 3. Consensus was defined as ≥80% of the panel giving a score of 7 or more. Results: Seventeen shoulder specialists completed all 3 rounds and identified a total of 82 elements for the arthroscopic Bankart repair and 60 for the open Latarjet. High variability was observed in 57 (70%) and 52 (87%) of the elements, respectively. After round 3, the panel reached consensus on 27 and 11 elements that should be mentioned in the surgical report following arthroscopic Bankart repair and open Latarjet. Conclusion: There is high variability in what shoulder specialists regard essential to report. Consensus was reached on 27 and 11 elements to be reported following arthroscopic Bankart repair and open Latarjet, respectively. Future studies on an international scale can further improve data collection and communication between specialists.

This could serve as a basis to develop a core outcome set for shoulder instability research. Methods: Healthcare providers and patients were included in a panel for a modified Delphi consensus study. The study consisted of three rounds, comprising (1) identifying items, (2) rating the importance of the items, and (3) rating the importance again after seeing a summary of the results of round two. Importance was rated on a 9-point Likert scale. Consensus was defined as ≥ 80% of the panel giving a score of 7 or higher. Results: In total, 44 healthcare providers and 30 patients completed all three rounds. Round one identified 54 items. After round three, the panel reached a consensus on 11 items that should be included in a questionnaire, comprising re-dislocation (99%), instable feeling of the shoulder (96%), limitations during sport (93%), patient satisfaction with the shoulder (93%), fear/anxiety for re-dislocation (91%), range of motion (88%), return to old level of functioning (85%), performing daily activities (85%), return to sport (82%), return to work (82%), and trusting the shoulder (81%). Conclusion: Healthcare providers and patients reached a consensus on 11 items that should be included in a questionnaire for shoulder instability research. These items can facilitate design and development of future clinical trials and form the basis for the development of a core outcome set.

Abstract: Thermal Tensioning is one of the methods use to minimise the occurrence of residual stress and unwanted distorsion during welding. One of the thermal tensioning methods is Static Thermal Tensioning (STT), which involves countering thermal stress during welding. The STT method requires an active cooling behind the welding line. Several properties are required for the coolant material, such as thermal conductivity, heat resistance, and good flexibility. To achieve the desired properties, a mixture of different materials was used, commonly called a composite. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of filler metal composition and type on the heat resistance of silica rubber matric composites. This study used 2 independent variables: the filler composition in composites with variations of K1 (60%) and K2 (70%), and the type of filler metal, aluminium and copper powder with variation J1 (100%-0%), J2 (75%-25%), J3 (50%-50%), J4 (25%-75%), and J5 (0-100%). The testing process used Thermogravimetry Analysis (TGA) method with replication 2 times. The results of this study showed the specimens with K1;J1 composition,containing 60% pure aluminium filler metal, showed the best heat resistance with a final weight of 88,25%. While specimens with K2;J5 composition, containing 70% pure copper filler metal, showed the worst heat resistance with a final weight of 74,25%.

Abstract: Introducing amorphous phases into the crystalline matrix is a new design strategy to improve the mechanical properties of Mg alloys. In this work, the effects of strain rate and amorphous nanopillar size on the interaction mechanism between the dislocation and precipitation in the Mg matrix were investigated by molecular dynamics simulation. The results show that the interaction mechanism between dislocation and amorphous precipitation depends on strain rate and amorphous nanopillar size. At strain rates of 5 × 107/s and 5 × 108/s, the amorphous precipitation strengthens the Mg matrix due to the pinning effect of the amorphous precipitation relative to the dislocation. The interaction mechanism changes from merging and canceling of dislocation to the cross-slip mechanism with the increase of precipitation size. Moreover, the strengthening effect of the large-sized amorphous phase on the dislocation is noticeable. However, the amorphous precipitation softens the Mg matrix at strain rates of 5 × 109/s and 1 × 1010/s. The underlying mechanism varies from the dislocation shearing mechanism to the generation of dislocation loops with the increase of the amorphous precipitation size. This research can provide theoretical guidance for developing and designing new high-performance Mg alloys.

30. The impact of pig breed on stress levels and meat quality: a study on mangalita purebred and Duroc x Landrace crossbred pigs in Romania

Abstract: ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the impact of pig breed on stress levels and meat quality in two commercial pig farms in the north-eastern part of Romania. One farm raised 52 Mangalita pure-bred pigs and the other 82 Duroc x Landrace crossbred pigs. Serum cortisol, a biomarker of stress, and serum glucose were measured before and after slaughtering, while meat pH was measured at 45 minutes and 24 hours post-mortem. Results showed that the Duroc x Landrace crossbred pigs had higher serum cortisol and glucose values before and after slaughtering compared to the Mangalita purebred pigs. The meat pH values of the two breeds were similar, with the pH45 and pH24 values being 6.67 and 5.48 for Duroc x Landrace crossbred and 6.53 and 5.52 for Mangalita purebred, respectively. These results suggest that pig breed can have an impact on stress levels and meat quality, with Duroc x Landrace crossbred pigs showing higher stress levels and meat quality being not affected by the breed of pig. Further research is needed to confirm these findings and to understand the underlying mechanisms.

31. Рутинная изоляция ушка левого предсердия: ретроспективный анализ среднеотдаленных результатов

Abstract: Актуальность. Существуют доказательства, что инсульт, ассоциированный с фибрилляцией предсердий, имеет кардиоэмболический генез, при этом основной источник тромбов — ушко левого предсердия. Изоляция данного образования может стать дополнением или альтернативой пожизненному приему антикоагулянтов. Цель. Оценить отдаленную эффективность сопутствующей рутинной изоляции ушка левого предсердия в профилактике ишемического инсульта для кардиохирургических пациентов, прооперированных с использованием искусственного кровообращения. Методы. В ретроспективное одноцентровое исследование включили пациентов старше 18 лет, прооперированных с использованием искусственного кровообращения в ИНВХ им. В.К. Гусака с декабря 2017 г. по январь 2022 г. Критерии исключения — отсутствие информации об отдаленных исходах; гемодинамически значимое поражение брахиоцефальных сосудов; фарфоровая аорта; инфекционный эндокардит; злокачественные новообразования, аутоиммунные заболевания и системные васкулиты в анамнезе; острый коронарный синдром, повторные вмешательства на открытом сердце, а также процедуры с использованием мини-доступа. Разделили пациентов на 2 группы: первая — с сопутствующей изоляцией ушка левого предсердия, вторая — с интактным ушком левого предсердия. Дополнительно разделили пациентов с дооперационной фибрилляцией предсердий и без данной аритмии. Первичная конечная точка — ишемический инсульт. Вторичные конечные точки — выживаемость, периоперационный инфаркт миокарда и фибрилляция предсердий, время искусственного кровообращения и пережатия аорты, количество рестернотомий по причине кровотечения, продолжительность пребывания пациентов в отделении интенсивной терапии и кардиохирургическом стационаре. Результаты. После первичного анализа и применения критериев исключения сформировали группы с изоляцией ушка левого предсердия из 216 пациентов, с интактным ушком левого предсердия — из 179. Среди 129 пациентов с дооперационной фибрилляцией предсердий сопутствующая изоляция ушка левого предсердия в 69 случаях выполнена и в 60 — нет. Среди 266 пациентов без фибрилляции предсердий в анамнезе данная процедура в 147 случаях проведена и в 119 — нет. Согласно многофакторному регрессионному анализу Кокса с включением всех пациентов, изоляция ушка левого предсердия — независимый предиктор снижения частоты ишемического инсульта (отношение рисков 0,20; 95% доверительный интервал 0,06–0,62; p = 0,006). Исключение больных с фибрилляцией предсердий из анализа приводит к потере преимуществ данной процедуры. По вторичным конечным точкам различий не выявили. Заключение. Изоляция ушка левого предсердия — эффективный и безопасный метод профилактики отдаленного ишемического инсульта для пациентов с фибрилляцией предсердий, оперируемых в условиях искусственного кровообращения. 32. Risk stratification of poor short-term prognosis in patients with high-risk pulmonary embolism

Abstract: Background. Pulmonary embolism (PE) is the third leading cause of cardiovascular mortality. High-risk PE patients have more severe course of disease and poor prognosis. The question of additional factors which may be associated with prognosis in such patients remains poorly understood. The aim is to identify factors associated with mortality in high-risk PE patients and to determine contribution of these factors to the risk stratification of death. Materials and methods. A retrospective analysis of 635 medical cards of patients with PE diagnosis hospitalized in Kharkiv City Clinical Hospital 8 from January 1, 2017 to January 1, 2023 was conducted. The diagnosis was verified by multispiral computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) and/or by autopsy. Patients were divided into groups: group І — high-risk (113 — 17.8 %); group II — low-risk (522 — 82.2 %). Group I was divided into subgroups: IA — 63 (55.8 %) individuals, who were discharged from the hospital with improved status, IB — 50 (44.2 %) people, who died in hospital. Clinical, anamnestic, laboratory and instrumental parameters were measured. Statistical analysis was performed. Results. Patients from group I were older, there were more women among them. In subgroup ІВ, there are more women, more cases of obesity and deep vein thrombosis. Patients from group IB had lower blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and systolic blood pressure (SBP), lower left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) measured by echocardiography. Bilateral segmental pulmonary embolism according to CTPA was more common in IB group. According to uni- and multivariate analysis, independent factors affecting in-hospital mortality in patients with high-risk PE were determined, among them: female gender, presence of bifurcation thrombus, lower SBP, SpO2, LVEF. Using the additional regression analysis, the formula for individual prediction of the risk of in-hospital mortality in high-risk PE patients was created. According to the receiver operating characteristic analysis, the sensitivity of the formula is 64.0 %, specificity is 92.1 %. The SBAFS (S — SpO2, B — Bifurcation thrombus, A — Arterial hypotension, F — left ventricular ejection Fraction, S — female Sex) score was formed, where the score of 2 or more indicates additional high risk of in-hospital mortality in high-risk PE patients. Conclusion. The high-risk PE patients who died during hospitalization had more cases of obesity, hypertension, lower SpO2, SBP, and LVEF, and there were more women among them. According to the multivariate logistic regression analysis, additional independent factors associated with in-hospital mortality in high-risk PE patients are female sex, thrombus in bifurcation of the pulmonary trunk, SpO2, SBP, LVEF. The formula for risk stratification of in-hospital death in high-risk PE patients was created and validated. The SBAFS score was formed to indicate additional high risk of in-hospital mortality in high-risk PE patients.

33. Comparative analysis of stress responses in dogs and cats during the covid-19 pandemic: a focus on cortisol, total leukocytes, eosinophils, and behavioral changes

Abstract: ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in unprecedented changes in the lives of humans and their companion animals, impacting their daily routines, social interactions, and stress levels. This study investigates the effect of pandemic-related restrictions, including limited time outside and changes in owner habits, on the stress indicators of 34 dogs and 29 cats. Cortisol levels, total leukocyte counts, eosinophil counts, and behavioral changes have been analyzed to assess how these species are differentially affected by the altered environment and human interactions during the pandemic. The study revealed important behavioral changes in cats while the biochemical and hematological parameters were considerably affected in dogs. Our findings shed light on the unique stress experiences of dogs and cats and underscore the importance of considering individualized strategies for managing their well-being during extraordinary circumstances.

34. Effects of a coccidiosis challenge on dietary methionine recommendations in broilers

Abstract: ABSTRACT: Broilers are commonly exposed to coccidiosis infections, and the use of dietary strategies to reduce losses in growth performance has practical implications for the poultry industry. Methionine (Met) is typically the first limiting amino acid for broilers and is involved in metabolic and immunological pathways; however, literature is conflicting on how dietary Met requirements are affected by environmental stressors. Our objective was to assess how the Met requirement changes during coccidiosis based on results of growth performance, carcass traits, and health outcomes. Two trials were conducted using 780 male Ross 308 broiler chicks in floor pens randomly assigned to 1 of 12 experimental treatments. All birds received common starter (d 0–10) and finisher (d 24–35, Trial 2 only) diets, and only differed based on their assigned experimental grower diet (d 10–24). Trial 1 experimental grower diets ranged from 2.61 to 6.21 g/kg digestible Met. Trial 2 experimental grower diets were formulated to contain 15% below, at, or 15% above the Met requirement determined in Trial 1. Birds were exposed to a coccidiosis challenge on d 11, with blood and tissue collection (1 bird/pen) on d 18 and carcass processing on d 35 (2 birds/pen) in Trial 2. Data were analyzed using a 1- or 2-way ANOVA. A non-linear regression analysis was conducted in Trial 1 to determine the Met requirement of 4.32 g of digestible Met/kg of diet using BW gain. Coccidiosis infection reduced (P < 0.05) growth performance during the experimental grower and overall study periods in Trial 2. Increasing dietary Met from below requirement to meeting requirement during the grower period improved (P < 0.001) BW gain and feed conversion ratio (FCR), but this effect was only significant between treatments below and above the requirement for the overall study period. There was an interactive effect (P = 0.038) on FCR for the overall study period. These findings provide evidence that the Met requirement is likely increased during coccidiosis based on growth performance outcomes.

Abstract: Charged-particle jet yields have been measured in semicentral Pb–Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon collision sNN=5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. These yields are reported as a function of the jet transverse momentum, and further classified by their angle with respect to the event plane and the event shape, characterized by ellipticity, in an effort to study the path-length dependence of jet quenching. Jets were reconstructed at midrapidity from charged-particle tracks using the anti-kT algorithm with resolution parameters R = 0.2 and 0.4, with event-plane angle and event-shape values determined using information from forward scintillating detectors. The results presented in this letter show that, in semicentral Pb–Pb collisions, there is no significant difference between jet yields in predominantly isotropic and elliptical events. However, out-of-plane jets are observed to be more suppressed than in-plane jets. Further, this relative suppression is greater for low transverse momentum (< 50 GeV/c) R = 0.2 jets produced in elliptical events, with out-of-plane to in-plane jet-yield ratios varying up to 5.2σ between different event-shape classes. These results agree with previous studies indicating that jets experience azimuthally anisotropic suppression when traversing the QGP medium, and can provide additional constraints on the path-length dependence of jet energy loss.

Abstract: In this article, we investigate the dynamics of a three-dimensional class of systems using Caputo fractional derivative. To regulate the chaos of this fractional order system, we propose a novel approach involving a sliding mode controller and an adaptive sliding mode controller. The study includes the existence and Ulam–Hyers stability results, the derivation of conditions ensuring global stability for the controlled system, even in the presence of novel uncertainties and outer interruptions. Our main contribution lies in introducing the adaptive law combined with sliding mode control, which effectively illustrates the chaotic behavior and dissipative nature of the chaotic system. This innovation has promising implications for various real-world applications where the control of chaotic dynamics is critical, such as in secure communication systems or ecological modeling Fitting the Nose–Hoover chaotic system to the defined class of equations, we have analyzed the impact of fractional order derivatives in the system and differentiate between chaotic and hyper chaotic behaviors by employing Lyapunov exponents. This differentiation has significant implications for understanding the underlying dynamics of complex systems in science and engineering. Furthermore, we have performed the bifurcation analysis to depict the chaotic behavior in the novel Nose–Hoover class, shedding light on the rich and intricate behaviors that fractional order dynamics can exhibit. To validate the proposed control scheme, we conduct numerical simulations and demonstrate its efficiency through the imposition of exponential and logarithmic uncertainties and disturbances. The model simulation results are provided.

39. Pilot study of a community pharmacist led program to treat hepatitis C virus among people who inject drugs

Abstract: Background: People who inject drugs (PWID) are a key population for treatment with direct-acting antiviral medications (DAAs) to eliminate hepatitis C virus (HCV). We developed a Pharmacist, Physician, and Patient Navigator Collaborative Care Model (PPP-CCM) for delivery of HCV treatment; this study describes clinical outcomes related to HCV treatment (initial evaluation, treatment initiation, completion, and cure), as well as patient satisfaction. Methods: We conducted a single-arm prospective pilot study of adult PWID living with HCV. Participants completed baseline and six-month follow-up surveys, and treatment and outcomes were abstracted from electronic health records. Primary outcome was linkage to pharmacist for HCV evaluation; secondary outcomes included DAA initiation, completion, and cure, as well as patient-reported satisfaction. Results: Of the 40 PWID enrolled, mean age was 43.6 years, 12 (30 %) were female, 20 (50 %) were non-white, and 15 (38 %) were unhoused. Thirty-eight (95 %) were successfully linked to the pharmacist for initial evaluation. Of those, 21/38 (55 %) initiated DAAs, and 16/21 (76 %) completed treatment. Among those completing treatment who had viral load data to document whether they achieved “sustained virologic response'', i.e. cure, 10/11 (91 %) were found to be cured. There was high satisfaction with 100 % responding “agree or strongly agree” that they had a positive experience with the pharmacist. Conclusion: Nearly all participants in this pilot were successfully linked to the pharmacist for evaluation, and more than half were started on DAAs; results provide preliminary evidence of feasibility of pharmacist-led models of HCV treatment for PWID. 40. Gradient of nanostructures at the interface of Al/Cu welded joints produced by the high strain-rate collision during magnetic pulse impact welding

Abstract: This paper focuses on the nanoscale characterization of a welded Al/Cu interface produced by magnetic pulse welding. Welding tests were performed using three field shapers with similar dimension but having strongly different electrical conductivity. Other welding parameters were strictly the same. The three tests produce similar welded joints that consist of a similar morphology of wavy interface at the macroscopic scale. Thus, the Al to Cu transition zone across the location of an interfacial wave is identified as a suitable repetitive site that enables for repetitive fine-scale characterization across a distance less than 1 µm. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) observations of the welded Al/Cu interface reveal a gradient of nanostructures which consists of an amorphous AlxCuy nanolayer (∼30 nm) and then, a nanocrystalline layer with a thin thickness of a few tens of nanometres at the Cu side and at the Al side as well. This hierarchical nano-featured structure is confined within a very short total distance of about 200 nm. Outside these confined nanostructures, the interface exhibits a crystalline structure. These nanofeatures were observed at the interface of the Al/Cu welded joint produced by three different field shapers, that shows a reproducibility of the interface structure at the nanoscale level. A thermomechanical analysis of the high strain process at a collision point allows for depicting the mechanism of microstructure formation confined at the Al/Cu interface. The shear strain rate across the interface shows peaks where the temperature distribution also reaches a peak beyond the melting point of Al. The thermal kinetics within the molten zone is characterized by a high cooling rate up to 103 °C/ns during the melting/solidification stage that explains the observation of the amorphous nanolayer revealed by the TEM observation. The formation of nanocrystalline structure confined at both sides of the amorphous layer can be explained by a nucleation of crystals at a very early stage governed by the thermal kinetics at the boundaries (Al side and Cu side) of the melted zone, and by a dynamic recrystallization governed by the gradient of shearing at high strain rate confined at the collision point. Together, these processes of highly transient thermomechanical responses confined at the Al/Cu interface explain the formation mechanism of interface microstructure that results in the hierarchical nanostructure as identified by TEM characterizations.

Abstract: Conventional blower-type open-circuit open-jet wind tunnels use a blower, wide-angle diffuser, settling chamber, screens, honeycomb, contracting nozzle, test section, and exit diffuser to develop a uniform, plug shaped velocity profile, inside the test-section. In the current study, a hypothetical design of a low-cost and simple wind tunnel has been proposed to produce similar flow characteristics but by using fewer components viz. blower, inlet duct, plenum chamber, test section, and collector, which is the novelty of the current design. The basis of the hypothesis is to obtain fully developed flow at the exit of the duct, produce moving belt-type lid-driven cavity flow inside the plenum chamber, create a low-speed movable membrane at the boundary of the main jet, and cessation of free jet expansion to a significant amount inside test section. The new design is validated through numerical and experimental results as well as mathematical modelling. The values of the ratio of standard deviation and average of normalized velocity are found in the range of 10−2 for a 50% blockage cross-section. Curve fitting of velocity values with plug profile equation showed a close resemblance. Experiments are performed on Savonius rotor inside the modified tunnel and compared with classic results obtained with a conventional tunnel. The RMS error between both results is contained in the range of 10−1 to 10−2. All validations proved the aptness of the new innovative tunnel for low-speed testing. The presented wind tunnel design is the first of its kind and generates the flow with the desired characteristics.

Abstract: The efficient manufacture of nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs) using a novel solution combustion method that makes use of chemical (glucose) and green (Aloe vera gel extract) fuels is reported in this work. As revealed by electron microscopy, the synthesized samples were spongy, spherical, agglomerated, and porous; in contrast, the face-centered cubic crystal structure (FCC) phase for NiO NPs was corroborated by PXRD. The energy band gaps of NiO NPs are 4.09 and 4.21 eV. Using an eco-friendly NiO electrode, cyclic voltammetry investigations demonstrated good reversibility (a reduced value of EO-ER). Its great conductivity was confirmed by electrochemical impedance tests, which also showed a low charge-transfer resistance. Using NiO NPs, stable electrode materials for application in supercapacitors can be readily created. In comparison to chemically synthesized NiO green generated NiO in a 3-electrode setup demonstrated a capacitance of 156 Fg−1 and 183 Fg−1 at a scan rate of 5 Ag−1, respectively, according to the GCD investigation. It also had good cycling stability, retaining more than 85% of its original capacitance after 2000 cycles. The results suggest that green produced NiO could be a cheap and practical material for use in supercapacitor applications in the future.

Abstract: While porous materials’ wide range of attractive functional properties have led to their development for a variety of applications, their intrinsically stochastic microstructures prevent straightforward approaches to predicting their mechanical behavior. This is attributed to the mechanisms that govern the macroscale behavior of these materials operating on multiple microstructure-specific length scales spanning several orders of magnitude. The goal of this work was to experimentally observe these operative deformation mechanisms to better improve the development of mechanism-informed models that more accurately predict the behavior of these materials. In this study compression tests were conducted on a porous carbon fiber network material. The resulting macroscale mechanical properties and mesoscale deformation behavior were tied together through digital image correlation (DIC) strain mapping. It was shown that deformation accumulation occurred via both reversible (fiber bending and sliding) and irreversible (fiber and junction failure) ways. The presence of irreversible deformation is indicated by strain being retained after unloading, with values of up to 0.426 locally and 0.248 globally. Local and macroscopic recovery of up to 0.306 and 0.207 strain respectively showcase the operation of reversible deformation. Furthermore, the calculation of energy loss coefficients increasing from 0.016 to 0.371 illustrates that the deformation occurs via dissipative mechanisms.

Abstract: ABSTRACT: Sterilized processed cheese is a specific dairy product with a prolonged shelf life intended for regular retail offer but also as food provisions for armies during peacetime, as well as during crisis and emergency situations, and for storage in state material reserves. Storage requirements are usually defined as ≤25°C for at least 24 mo. One of the ways to achieve such a shelf life is sterilization. Therefore, the aim of the work was to describe, for the first time in the available scientific literature, in situ changes in the viscoelastic properties of spreadable melt (34% wt/wt DM content, 45% wt/wt fat in DM content, and 14% wt/wt protein content) during an increase in temperature (target temperature 122°C), holding at sterilization temperature (20 min) and subsequent cooling (to ~30°C). While increasing to the target sterilization temperature, a significant decrease occurred in the storage and loss moduli values. Both moduli started to increase again during the target sterilization temperature period and during the whole cooling phase. The values of the storage and loss moduli were significantly higher at the end of the cooling of the sterilized product, and conversely, the phase angle value was lower compared with the melt before sterilization. As a result of sterilization, an increase occurred in the levels of markers of the Maillard reaction complex and lipid oxidation processes. The value of hardness, corrected stress, and elongational viscosity also increased compared with nonsterilized products. As a result of sterilization, the flavor worsened and sterilized processed cheeses showed darker (brownish) color. However, even after sterilization, the products were evaluated as acceptable for consumers and maintained their spreadability.

Métodos: Se realizó un trabajo observacional en pacientes con diagnóstico de MG. Los pacientes fueron evaluados con test de cuenta máxima, pico flujo espiratorio (PEF), cuestionario de disnea modificado (mMRC) y valoración de fuerza del cuello. Los resultados de estos parámetros fueron correlacionados con la medición de CVF (capacidad vital forzada) y presiones bucales estáticas máximas (PiMáx y PeMáx). Resultados: Cuarenta y cinco pacientes con MG fueron incluidos, dos pacientes tenían MGFA grado I, 35 grado II, siete grado III y uno grado IV al momento de la evaluación. Se halló una correlación positiva entre el test de cuenta máxima y la CVF (r = 0,57, p = 0,000), y entre el PEF y la CVF (r = 0,76, p = 0,000). El grado de disnea, según el mMRC, mostró una correlación negativa con la CVF (r =-0,31 p = 0,03). A su vez, el PEF correlacionó con la PeMáx de forma positiva, estadísticamente significativa (r = 0,51, p = 0,002). Conclusiones: El PEF, el test de cuenta máxima y el mMRC fueron útiles para evaluar la función respiratoria en pacientes con MG. 47. Технические аспекты и результаты применения клапанных гомографтов в хирургии атриовентрикулярных клапанов сердца: систематический обзор

Abstract: Цель. Систематизировать мировой опыт использования гомографтов в хирургии митрального и трикуспидального клапанов и дать ему критическую оценку. Методы. Систематический обзор провели в соответствии с критериями PRISMA. В качестве поисковых запросов в базах данных использовали термины: ((mitral homograft) OR (tricuspid homograft) OR (homograft) AND (valve replacement) OR (valve repair)). Поиск вели в доступных базах данных PubMed (National Center for Biotechnology Information), Cochrane Library, Web of Science (Clarivate), Google Scholar. Результаты. После проведения поиска в соответствии с критериями включения и исключения с привлечением трех специалистов в анализ отобрали 23 публикации за период с 1988 по 2021 г. Средний срок наблюдения 15 [6–60] мес. Выживаемость на конец периода наблюдения составила 100 [90,7–100,0] %, свобода от дисфункции графта — 100 %, свобода от реоперации — 100 [79–100] %. Заключение. Использование гомографтов в хирургии атриовентрикулярных клапанов ограничено небольшими сериями случаев с вариабельными хирургическими аспектами, гетерогенным периодом наблюдения. Представленные непосредственные результаты применения гомографтов позволяют рассматривать их как альтернативный клапанный заменитель при широком спектре патологии как у первичных, так и повторных пациентов. Abstract: The ALICE Collaboration reports a differential measurement of inclusive jet suppression using pp and Pb–Pb collision data at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon collision sNN=5.02 TeV. Charged-particle jets are reconstructed using the anti-kT algorithm with resolution parameters R=0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 0.6 in pp collisions and R=0.2, 0.4, 0.6 in central (0–10%), semi-central (30–50%), and peripheral (60–80%) Pb–Pb collisions. A novel approach based on machine learning is employed to mitigate the influence of jet background. This enables measurements of inclusive jet suppression in new regions of phase space, including down to the lowest jet pT≥40 GeV/c at R=0.6 in central Pb–Pb collisions. This is an important step for discriminating different models of jet quenching in the quark–gluon plasma. The transverse momentum spectra, nuclear modification factors, derived cross section, and nuclear modification factor ratios for different jet resolution parameters of charged-particle jets are presented and compared to model predictions. A mild dependence of the nuclear modification factor ratios on collision centrality and resolution parameter is observed. The results are compared to a variety of jet-quenching models with varying levels of agreement.

50. Defining optimal dietary starch, oil, and amino acid inclusion levels for broilers experiencing a coccidiosis challenge

Abstract: ABSTRACT: Alternative methods to alleviate coccidiosis in broilers are of interest to producers, including dietary strategies to minimize disruptions in growth rate and efficiency when faced with health challenges. Our objective was to determine optimal combinations of dietary starch, amino acids (AA), and oil to benefit productivity of broilers experiencing Eimeria-induced immune activation. Two trials were conducted using 1,536 male Ross 308 broiler chicks in floor pens randomly assigned to 1 of 17 experimental treatments. All birds received common starter (d 0–10) and finisher (d 24–35) diets, and only differed based on their assigned experimental grower diet (d 10–24). Trial 1 experimental grower diets ranged from 2,700 to 3,300 kcal/kg AME. Trial 2 included 10 experimental grower diets following a simplex lattice design consisting of 3 basal lots formulated to have the highest starch (45.4%), oil (10.2%), or AA density (120, 1.33% digestible Lys) and mixed in 4 equally spaced levels for each component (0, 0.33, 0.67, 1). These mixtures enabled varying densities of AA (80–120% of recommendation), starch:oil (4:1–20:1), and AME (2,940–3,450 kcal/kg). Bird and feeder weights were collected on d 0, 10, 24, and 35, and birds were exposed to an Eimeria challenge on d 11 or 12. In trial 2, excreta samples were collected for AME determination and carcasses were processed on d 36. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, t test, or regression. In Trial 1, BW gain and feed conversion were improved (P < 0.05) by increasing dietary AME. In Trial 2, birds receiving diets containing AA at 93 to 107% of recommendations and higher oil exhibited improved (P < 0.05) performance, but increased starch at the expense of oil reduced performance (P < 0.05). Relative breast and fat pad weights were not influenced by diet in Trial 2. We determined that broilers mildly challenged with Eimeria would exhibit highest BW gain when receiving diets containing 35.8% starch, 8.9% oil, and 101.3% of AA recommendations, which can be utilized by producers to maintain productivity under health-challenged conditions.
