Spatial variability in winegrape yield was studied over several vintages in blocks planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Ruby Cabernet in the Coonawarra, Clare Valley and Sunraysia regions of Australia using new yield monitoring technology, a differentially corrected global positioning system (GPS), a geographical information system and some simple methods of spatial analysis. In any given year, yield was highly variable and typically of the order of 10 fold (i.e. 2 to 20 t/ha). However, through the use of k-means clustering and a method based on assessment of the probability of achieving yield targets relative to the mean annual block yield, temporal stability in the patterns of yield variation was demonstrated, even though there were substantial year to year differences in mean annual yield in these blocks. The methods used to demonstrate temporal stability in the patterns of yield variation also promote identification of zones of characteristic performance within variable vineyard blocks. Of significance in this work was the finding that, whilst k-means clustering is the more statistically robust of the two methods used, the ability to incorporate expert knowledge into the yield target method enhances the ability of the manager to accommodate the effects of abnormal events (e.g. an unusually cold flowering period) in the zone identification process. Targeted harvesting of different zones, followed by comparison between commercial lots of wine, provided indication that wine characteristics vary from zone to zone. However, the ranking of wine scores for the various zones changed between seasons. Our results have important implications for the adoption of Precision Viticulture. In particular, they support the introduction of a system of zonal vineyard management. Thus, rather than being managed uniformly, individual blocks can be split into zones in which the management of both inputs to, and outputs from the production system can be applied differentially.

Die selektive Retina-Therapie (SRT) ist ein neues Laserverfahren zur selektiven Behandlung des retinalen Pigmentepithels (RPE). In dieser Studie wurden 39 Patienten mit einer nichtischamischen, fokalen und fokal-diffusen diabetischen Makulopathie mit SRT behandelt. Es zeigten sich v. a. stabilisierende Effekte auf Visus, angiographische Leckageaktivitat, Lipidexsudatentwickulung sowie auf die foveale Netzhautdicke. Die SRT ist sicher und ermoglicht insbesondere die Behandlung foveanaher Pathologien, die der konventionellen Argonlaserkoagulation nicht zuganglich sind.

Selective Retina Therapy (SRT) is a new laser treatment that selectively targets the retinal pigmen epithelium (RPE). In this study, we treated 39 patients presenting with nonischemic, focal and focal-diffuse diabetic maculopathy with SRT. In the main. the results indicate that SRT had stabilizing effects on visual acuity, angiographic leakage, lipid exudation, and foveal retinal thickness. SRT is safe and is especially useful for treating pathologies that are located close to the fovea, which cannot be treated with conventional argon laser photocoagulation.

Retail price structures are a critical part of the managed care contracting process because payers use local and national charge norms to compare hospitals and to determine negotiating targets. To successfully negotiate managed care contracts, and to be able to offer sensible discounts to payers that require them, a healthcare organization needs to determine its retail prices relative to the marketplace. By measuring their charge structure's variance from those of other providers in the same market, healthcare organizations can ensure that their retail prices are competitive.

Infertility amongst women with normal menstrual rhythm, normal pelvic anatomy and normal patterns, is a common and complex clinical problem requiring a comprehensive approach. There are many areas of debate concerning the relative importance of different alleged pathologies and the efficacy of treatments directed at them. It is for these reasons that a strict approach to patient definition and selection should be maintained, although there is no universally adopted systematic approach to either.

We report the first observation of the decay ${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}K\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} $^{0}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$ and a new measurement of the decay ${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}K\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} (892${)}^{0}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$. The data were collected at \ensuremath{\surd}s=4.14 GeV with the Mark III detector at the SLAC ${\mathit{e}}^{+}$${\mathit{e}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ storage ring at SPEAR. We obtain the relative branching fractions B(${\mathit{D}}^{+}$s\ensuremath{\rightarrow}K${\mathrm{\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}}}^{0}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$/ B(${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\varphi}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$)=0.92\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.32\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.20 and B(${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}K${\mathrm{\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}}}^{\mathrm{*}0}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$)/ B(${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\varphi}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$)=0.84\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.30\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.22, using our new determination of \ensuremath{\sigma}B(${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\varphi}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$). A search for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay ${\mathit{D}}^{+}$s\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{0}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$ yields a limit B(${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{0}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$)/B(${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{s}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\varphi}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$)0.21 at the 90% confidence level.

We describe below the design, construction and performance of the end cap shower counters of the MARK III detector. These counters, made up of layers of aluminum proportional tubes sandwiched between lead sheets, achieve a position resolution for electrons or photons of about 7 mm × 9 mm using charge division for the position measurement along the wire direction. The energy resolution for fully contained electron and photon showers is σ E E = 17% √E . The counters are segmented into twelve individual readouts in depth, allowing the very good pattern recognition needed for the separation of nearby showers. The total depth of the counter, twelve radiation lengths, is adequate for the SPEAR energy range. Good photon detection efficiency extends to energies below 100 MeV.

Measurements of the semileptonic branching ratios of charmed D/sup +/ and D/sup 0/ mesons are presented, from data collected at the psi(3770) in the Mark III detector at SPEAR. From a sample of events kinematically selected as charmed D/sup +/D/sup -/ or D/sup 0/D /sup 0/ pairs, the branching ratios R(D/sup +/..-->..e/sup +/+X) = (17.0 +- 1.9 +- 0.7)% and R(D/sup 0/..-->..e/sup +/+X) = (7.5 +- 1.1 +- 0.4 )% are obtained. The ratio of these measurements can be interpreted as the ratio of D/sup +/ and D/sup 0/ lifetimes tau/sup +//tau/sup 0/ = 2.3/sub -0.4-0.1/ /sub +0.5+0.1/ by neglect of the contribution of Cabibbo-suppressed decays to the total decay width.

We present an analysis of the decay J/psi..--> gamma..4..pi.. in the final states ..gamma pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ and ..gamma pi../sup +/..pi../sup 0/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup 0/. The branching fractions obtained are B(J/psi..--> gamma pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/) = (3.05 +- 0.08 +- 0.45) x 10/sup -3/ and B(J/psi..--> gamma pi../sup +/..pi../sup 0/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup o/) = ( 8.3 +- 0.2 +- 3.1) x 10/sup -3/ for m/sub 4pi/ less than 2 GeV/c/sup 2/. The 4..pi.. invariant-mass distributions extend from 1.0 to 3.0 GeV/c/sup 2/, showing peaks at approximately 1.55 and 1.8 GeV/c/sup 2/. In an analysis of the 4..pi.. final state we find that roughly-equal50% of the events below 2 GeV/c/sup 2/ are pseudoscalar rhorho, the product branching fraction of which is determined to be B(psi..--> gamma..X/sub 0/-)B(X/sub 0/-..-->..rhorho) = (4.7 +- 0.3 +- 0.9) x 10/sup -3/. No other significant rhorho component is found, and upper limits on the product branching fraction B(J/psi..--> gamma..X)B(X..-->..rhorho) are presented for the theta(1690) and the g/sub T/ states near 2.2 GeV/c/sup 2/.

We report a new measurement of the D∗ branching ratios, using data obtained with the Mark III detector at the e^+e^− storage ring SPEAR at s=4.14GeV. A fit to the recoil mass squared spectrum of D mesons reconstructed through the decay modes K^−π^+π^+ and K^−π^+ is used to extract the D^(∗+) → γD^+, π^0D^+, π^+D^0 and D^(∗0) → γD^0, π^0D^0 branching ratios.

We present evidence for the radiative decay J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} with a branching fraction of (1.76\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.09\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.45)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}3}$. The \ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} invariant-mass distribution peaks at 1.8 GeV/${c}^{2}$, just above threshold. Analysis of angular correlations indicates that \ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} system below 2 GeV/${c}^{2}$ is predominantly pseudoscalar. Upper limits are presented for the branching fractions of \ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega} decays of the \ensuremath{\theta}(1690), the ${g}_{T}$ states near 2.2 GeV/${c}^{2}$, and the ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}$.

Dalitz plot analyses of four Kππ decays of the D 0 and D + mesons are presented. The relative amounts of K ∗ π, Kϱ and non-resonant Kππ in each decay mode are determined, and isospin amplitudes and phases are derived. These results are compared with predictions from QCD. The K − π + π + mode has a non-uniform, non-resonant contribution; attempts to fit this distribution are described.

In a study of 2.7 million J/psi decays with the Mark III, a new magnetic detector at SPEAR, we have observed the sequential decay J/psi..--> gamma..eta/sub c/, eta/sub c/..-->..phiphi. The product branching fraction is (1.02 +- 0.25 +- 0.14) x 10/sup -4/, where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. Analysis of the final-state angular distributions provides the first experimental determination that the spin and parity of the eta/sub c/ are 0/sup -/.

Studies were conducted to examine whether anemia induced in newly hatched Japanese quail by moderate dietary Zn supplements could be corrected by supplemental Fe, Cu, or Mg by 14 d of age. Low hemoglobin (Hb) was partially alleviated by increased levels of Fe or Cu, but normal Hb was obtained only with Fe plus Cu. Fe and Cu concentrations in the liver were decreased at 7 d, prior to the development of anemia by 13 d. Additional Mg had no effect on low Hb caused by Zn. Copper supplementation partially alleviated the growth depression and entirely prevented the lack of feather pigmentation that resulted from Zn toxicosis. Neither Fe nor Mg affected either of these parameters. These data indicate that both Fe and Cu status of an individual may be compromised by dietary Zn supplementation.

The decays J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ and J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}${K}^{+}$${K}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, 2.0 GeV/${c}^{2}$, have been studied. Measurements are presented for B(\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}f(1270))B(f(1270)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$), B(\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}f(1270))B(f(1270)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$), B(\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}f'(1525))B(f'(1525)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{K}}^{+}$${\mathrm{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$), and B(\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}theta)B(theta(1270)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{K}}^{+}$${\mathrm{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$). A higher-mass structure is observed in the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ channel. The spin of the theta(1720) is established with high confidence. The polarization structure of the f(1270), f'(1525), and theta(1720) have been determined.

A new technique is applied to data collected at the $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ resonance to derive charmed-$D$-meson branching fractions without relying on the measurement of $D$-production cross sections. Measurements are presented for three decay modes of the ${D}^{0} ({K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}, {D}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}, \mathrm{and} {K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ and four decay modes of the ${D}^{+} ({K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+},{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0},{K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}, \mathrm{and} {K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0})$. The resulting branching fractions are significantly larger than previous measurements.

The weak hadronic decay D/sup 0/..-->..K/sup 0/K/sup +/K/sup -/ is observed in a data sample of 9.3 pb/sup -1/ collected with the Mark III detector at the psi(3770) resonance. An analysis of the K/sup +/K/sup -/ subsystem suggests that while the decay proceeds in part through the K-bar/sup 0/phi channel, providing evidence for the presence of nonspectator amplitudes in D/sup 0/ decays, a significant fraction of the decays occur through both higher- and lower-mass K/sup +/K/sup -/ systems. A limit is set on the decay D/sup 0/..-->..K/sup 0/K/sup 0/, also thought to proceed by nonspectator processes.

We report a revised determination of charmed--D-meson absolute branching fractions based on complete reconstruction of DD-bar events at the psi(3770). Two backgrounds, Cabibbo-suppressed and multi-..pi../sup 0/D decays, are addressed in detail. The first measurement of the decay D/sup 0/..-->..K/sup -/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup 0/..pi../sup 0/ establishes the sensitivity to hitherto unobserved multi-..pi../sup 0/ modes. Removal of both backgrounds reduces the values of our previously reported branching fractions by (21--24)% leaving their ratios largely unchanged. The new values are unable to account fully for a reported deficit in charm production in B-meson decay.

A search for the lepton family number violating decay D 0 → μ e is reported. No signal is observed in a data sample of 9.3 pb −1 collected at the ζ (3770) resonance with the MARK III detector, where 0.18±0.06±0.05 background events are expected. A 90% confidence level upper limit on the branching fraction B (D 0 → μ e) of 1.5 × 10 −4 is obtained.

We present measurements of the two-body decays of the J/psi into a vector and a pseudoscalar meson. The data, taken with the Mark III detector at the SLAC e/sup +/e/sup -/ storage ring SPEAR, consist of 5.8 x 10/sup 6/ produced J/psi's. The branching ratios for the J/psi decays into rho..pi.., rhoeta, rhoeta', ..omega pi../sup 0/, ..omega..eta, ..omega..eta', phieta, phieta', and K/sup */K are measured; an upper limit on J/psi..-->..phi..pi../sup 0/ is obtained. Using the measured branching ratios we obtain parameters of a phenomenological model of J/psi decays, indicating that the eta and eta' are consistent with being composed only of light and strange quarks. The model is used to obtain the mixing angle in the pseudoscalar nonet. The ..omega pi../sup 0/ electromagnetic form factor is determined. The upper limit on J/psi..-->..phi..pi../sup 0/ is used to study the contributions from electromagnetic doubly--Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka--suppressed decays of the J/psi. .AE

Evidence is presented for a narrow state, called xi, in the decay modes J/psi elxi, xi K K , and xi K/sub S/K/sub S/. In the K K mode, the xi has a mass of 2.230 +- 0.006 +- 0.014 GeV/cS, a width of GAMMA = 0.026/sub -0.016//sup +0.020/ +- 0.017 GeV/cS, a product branching ratio of (4.2/sub -1.4//sup +1.7/ +- 0.8) x 10 V, and a statistical significance of approx.4.5 standard deviations. In the K/sub S/K/sub S/ mode, it has a mass of 2.232 +- 0.007 +- 0.007 GeV/cS, a width of GAMMA = 0.018/sub -0.015//sup +0.023/ +- 0.010 GeV/cS, a product branching ratio of (3.1/sub -1.3//sup +1.6/ +- 0.7) x 10 V, and a statistical significance of approx.3.6 standard deviations. Limits on xi decay to other final states are presented.

Pairs of $\ensuremath{\tau}$ leptons produced at $\sqrt{s}=3.77$ GeV have been studied in $e\ensuremath{\mu}$, $\mathrm{ee}$, and $\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\mu}$ final states. The leptonic branching ratios have been measured to be $B(\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}e\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\nu})=(18.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5)%$ and $B(\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\nu})=(18.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.6)%$. Limits have been set for the two-body decays $\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{eG}$ and $\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\mu}G$, where $G$ is a light Goldstone boson.

TO identify the most sensitive adverse effects of high dietary zinc, day-old Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix juponica) were fed diets marginally deficient, adequate or slightly elevated in copper with supplements of 15.6–2000 ppm zinc. By 14 days of age, sensitive zinc antagonisms of copper, iron and manganese were evident. The supplemental zinc caused depressed growth, decreased feather pigmentation, mild perosis and anemia; the first three generally being more severe when dietary copper was marginally deficient. The duodenum and liver accumulated zinc in relation to the dietary zinc level. Supplemental zinc caused decreased levels of iron, manganese and copper in the liver. The adequacy of copper intake is important when zinc intake is increased by use of dietary supplements or fortification of foods.

Measurements of the branching ratios of ten Cabibbo-suppressed hadronic weak decays of the D/sup +/ and D/sup 0/ are presented from data collected with the Mark III detector SPEAR. In addition to the previously observed channels D/sup 0/..-->..K/sup -/K/sup +/ and ..pi../sup -/..pi../sup +/, we report new measurements of D/sup 0/..--> pi../sup -/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup 0/ and ..pi../sup -/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup +/, and D/sup +/..-->..K/sup 0/K/sup +/, ..pi../sup 0/..pi../sup +/, K-bar/sup asterisk0/(892)K/sup +/, phi..pi../sup +/, K/sup -/K/sup +/..pi../sup +/, and ..pi../sup -/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup +/.

The cross section for 180\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} elastic scattering of antiprotons by protons between 406 and 922 MeV/c has been measured. A single-arm spectrometer detected recoil protons corresponding to events with $〈{cos\ensuremath{\theta}}_{\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.}〉=\ensuremath{-}0.994$. The regions of the reported resonances at 1936 and 2020 MeV were scanned in 10-MeV/c steps with a typical statistical error of \ensuremath{\approx} 7% and an rms mass resolution of \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3 MeV. No narrow enhancements ($\ensuremath{\Gamma}l10$ MeV) were observed.

Measurements of the exclusive branching fractions B(D^0→π^-e^+ν_e) and B(D^0→K^-e^+ν_e), using data collected at the ψ(3770) with the Mark III detector at the SLAC e^+e^- storage ring SPEAR, are used to determine the ratio of the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements │V_(cd)/V_(cs)│^2 =0.057_(-0.015)^(+0.038)±0.005.

A search for the decay of the charmed meson /ital D//sup 0//r arrow//bar K//sup 0/e/sup +/e/sup /minus// is presented, based on data collected at the /psi/(3770) resonance with the Mark III detector at the SLAC storage ring SPEAR. No evidence for this process is found, resulting in an upper limit on the decay branching ratio of 1.7/times/10/sup /minus/3/ at the 90% confidence level.

Charge-exchange cross section for antiprotons on protons has been measured in closely spaced momentum intervals from 0.119 to 1.046 GeV/c. The regions of the reported resonances at 1936 and 2020 MeV were scanned in 10-MeV/c steps with a typical statistical error of approx. = 1% and an rms mass resolution of +- 1.5 MeV. No enhancements were observed.

Motivated by recent evidence for the decay tau..-->..eta..pi nu.., a search for this decay has been carried out in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation at ..sqrt..s = 3.77 GeV. No evidence for decay is found; an upper limit of 2.5% at the 90% confidence level is set on the branching fraction B(tau..-->..eta..pi nu..).

We report a search for the decay D/sup 0/..-->..e/sup +/e/sup -/ based on a data sample of 9.6 pb/sup -1/ collected at the psi(3770) resonance with the Mark III detector at the SLAC e/sup +/e/sup -/ storage ring SPEAR. We find no evidence for this flavor-changing weak-neutral-current decay and set an upper limit on the branching ratio of B(D/sup 0/..-->..e/sup +/e/sup -/)

From a study of 2.7 x 10/sup 6/ J/psi decays with the Mark III detector at the SLAC storage ring SPEAR, we have obtained new measurements of the two-body decays of the J/psi into a vector and a pseudoscalar meson. We present branching ratios for decays to rho..pi.., KK((892), phieta, the previously unobserved modes phieta', ..omega..eta, ..omega..eta', ..omega pi../sup 0/, rho/sup 0/eta, and new upper limits on rho/sup 0/eta' and phi..pi../sup 0/. In the decay J/psi..-->..eta..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/, we observe rho/sup 0/-..omega.. interference. The collection of measured branching ratios are simultaneously fit to a simple model of J/psi decays which includes strong and electromagnetic amplitudes and allows for violation of SU(3) invariance. Using this model, we calculate the strange- and nonstrange-quark content of the eta and eta' and conclude that (35 +- 18)% of the eta' wave function can be attributed to an additional component, e.g., gluonium or radial excitation. The measurement of the ..omega pi../sup 0/ branching ratio, when combined with that of the ..gamma pi../sup 0/ decay mode of the ..omega.., yields a determination of the ..omega pi../sup 0/ electromagnetic-form-factor ratio Vertical Barf(q/sup 2/ = m/sub J/psi/ /sup 2/)/f(q/sup 2/ = 0) Vertical Bar = 0.038 +- 0.006.

New results are obtained for the decays J/psi..--> pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ and J/psi..-->..K/sup +/K/sup -/. The first observation of the decay J/psi..-->..K/sub S//sup 0/K/sub L//sup 0/ is reported. Branching ratios are measured to be (1.58 +- 0.20 +- 0.15) x 10/sup -4/, (2.39 +- 0.24 +- 0.22) x 10/sup -4/, and (1.01 +- 0.16 +- 0.09) x 10/sup -4/, respectively. The corresponding electromagnetic form factors are Vertical BarF +- Vertical Bar/sup 2/ = (11.9 +- 1.5 +- 0. 9) x 10/sup -3/ and Vertical BarF/sub K//sup + -/Vertical Bar/sup 2/ = (20.9 +- 2.1 +- 1. 5) x 10/sup -3/. The K/sub S//sup 0/-K/sub L//sup 0/ transition form factor Vertical BarF/sub K//sub s//sup 0/..-->..K/sub L//sup 0/Vertical Bar /sup 2/ = (8.9 +- 1.4 +- 0.5) x 10/sup -3/ is obtained. A 90%-confidence-level upper limit of 5.2 x 10/sup -6/ is given for the branching ratio for the decay J/psi..-->..K/sub S//sup 0/K/sub S//sup 0/. These form factors are substantially larger than expectations based on vector dominance and indicate large SU/sub 3/-symmetry-breaking effects.
