Stitch abscesses are abscesses that develop following surgical procedures as a result of suture infections. Because of nonabsorbable sutures, the material reacts with connective tissue, generating adhesions around the stitch. The use of this type of material increases the risk of infection. The aim of this study was to establish awareness on the management strategy of suture stitch abscess among dental students. An online survey consisting of ten questions about suture stitch abscess along with sociodemographic factors was circulated among equal numbers of 2nd years, 3rd years, final years, and compulsory rotatory residential internship (CRRI). The data obtained from the questionnaire were transferred to Microsoft Excel and imported to SPSS software for statistical analysis. Interns are more aware about the complications and management strategy of suture stitch abscesses compared to others. Awareness on the management strategy of suture stitch abscess is important, and it helps to reduce the side effects to improve the outcomes. Educating the risk factors, signs and symptoms, and management strategy is the best way to help raise awareness.

Canine impaction, ectopic canines, canine transposition, canine transmigration, and agenesis are all caused by disturbances during development and eruption of the teeth. The position of the canines is of utmost importance, and they should be carefully inspected as they follow the longest path during eruption in the oral cavity and their shape and position play a major role in occlusal guidance. The prevalence of canine impaction may also be connected to the pattern of facial growth. The objective of this study was to analyze the association of vertical growth pattern and canine impaction in Dravidian population. The dental records were consulted for information. The patient information was gathered from the outpatient data records of patients who were treated with fixed orthodontic treatment at the private dental setup. Patients with canine impactions were shortlisted. Malocclusion, growth pattern, and type of impaction were recorded. The data obtained were tabulated and analyzed using statistical software. Out of 1385 subjects, 35 patients had impacted canines. Among 35 patients with impacted canines, 23 (65.71%) have a vertical growth pattern, 6 (17.14%) have an average growth pattern, and 6 (17.14%) have a horizontal growth pattern. According to the findings of this investigation, there was no gender-related difference in canine impaction. The canine impaction prevalence in Dravidian subjects was found to be 2.53%. Most of them with impacted canines had a vertical growth pattern.

Background: The oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) often affects elderly aged adults, who had long-term tobacco exposure. In the recent past decade, there is an increasing incidence of OSCC in younger individuals, who had less tobacco association. Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the risk factors and to assess and compare the clinicopathological features and prognosis of OSCC in young patients with the older group patients. Materials and Methods: We included studies that addressed the OSCC involving young patients during the period between 2014 and 2019. Initially, we found 679 articles; after refined evaluation, 92 works had their titles matching to the present work. After extraction of case reports, reviews, and studies with un-matched objectives or inadequate data, we have chosen only 24 presentations matching to the abstract. The statistical analysis performed by Chi-square tests using SPSS 20.0 version for windows. Results: Of the total OSCC, 10% of patients belonged to the younger age group, and 90% were the older aged group. Both the groups showed male gender predominance and tongue as the predominant site of involvement. The younger patients tend to have significantly reduced tobacco exposure. The highly reported tumors were advanced staged and moderately differentiated tumors in both groups. There was a statistically evident high recurrence reported in the younger group. The overall survival seems to be similar for both groups. Conclusion: The identification of the potential risk factors, along with unique molecular mechanisms, and biological behavior of the disease is mandatory to control the incidence of OSCC in young adults.

Introduction: Cross-sectional imaging has been increasingly used in recent years for cardiac and chest evaluation as multiplanar imaging gives excellent image characterization. Multiplanar imaging with excellent soft tissue contrast without radiation risks in MRI signifies its major role in cardiac and chest imaging. Aim: To evaluate the value of 3-Dimensional T2-Weighted Short Inversion Time Inversion Recovery (3D-T2-STIR) gated sequence in cardiac and chest MR imaging. Materials and Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted in which 41 adult patients who came for chest and cardiac MRI were included. All our patients were imaged on a 3-T clinical scanner and obtained T2-weighted SPACE STIR gated sequence in addition to routine sequences. The image qualities of 3D-T2-SPACE STIR sequences were compared with routine MRI sequences and were scored by two experienced radiologist in blinded fashion as good, fair and poor. Scan time consumption of 3D-T2-SPACE STIR sequences and routine MRI sequences were also done. Results: A 3D T2 SPACE STIR sequences demonstrated comparable image quality in all patients. The level of agreement between the two radiologists on the image qualities of 3DT2-SPACE STIR sequences was excellent. In patients with renal failure and pregnant patients where contrast studies and CT is contraindicated 3D SPACE STIR T2 imaging adds value in diagnosing pulmonary thromboembolism, congenital heart disease, bronchiectasis and consolidation with very less sequence acquisition time, ranging from 1 to 3 minutes. Conclusion: A 3D SPACE STIR MRI sequence is a useful adjunct in cardiac and chest imaging especially in renal failure and pregnant patients where contrast is contraindicated and also time conserving in these patients.

The present article provides insights into the immunity of ocean invertebrates. Research in this field has revealed hallmark components and strategies of the animal immune system, which have both theoretical and practical utility. From phylum Porifera to arthropods, animal immunity has evolved over various timescales. Within these timescales, dynamic environmental factors and microbial influences have shaped invertebrate immunity in an adaptive manner, resulting in the acquisition of complex genetic traits. These genetic traits play a crucial role in coding for multiple components, including antigens binding to cellular and cytoplasmic receptors, antimicrobial peptides, proteases, and proteins in pioneer animals. Marine invertebrates, such as sponges, cnidarians, mollusks, echinoderms, and crustaceans, exhibit diverse innate immune mechanisms influenced by their environment and microbial interactions. Despite lacking adaptive immune responses, marine invertebrates rely primarily on innate immunity. Their immune system encompasses physical and chemical barriers that prevent pathogen entry, as well as specialized cells and humoral factors that combat infections and minimize potential damage. In summary, this review explores the immunity of ocean invertebrates, highlighting key discoveries related to both cellular and humoral defenses across various marine species.

Aim: The aim of the current survey was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude, and awareness regarding orthognathic surgery among orthodontic patients. Materials and Methods: This is cross-sectional web-based questionnaire survey conducted among orthodontic patients in Tamil Nadu. The self-administered questions related to awareness of orthognathic surgery were collected from 500 subjects. The statistical analysis was done using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (V 22.0). The frequency distribution was computed. Results: This survey revealed that 466 (93.2%) respondents had awareness about the role of orthognathic surgery. 332 (66.4%) had given the correct responses related to differentiating skeletal and dental malocclusion, 454 (90.6%) had the awareness of risk factors associated with orthognathic surgery and 40 (7.0%) were experienced regarding the procedure. Conclusion: The result of the current study showed that it clearly implies that the population was aware of orthognathic surgery as a treatment modality for correcting skeletal deformities.

This article describes how a drone can act as a base station in a 5G network and conduct an experiment to demonstrate th e potential of drone communications.
