Purpose: To evaluate the clinical and radiographic results of simultaneous implant placement using transcrestal sinus floor elevation (TSFE) with and without enamel matrix derivative (EMD) application. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four patients were randomly assigned into two groups: The EMD+TSFE group (n = 13 patients, 20 implants) received TSFE with EMD application, and the TSFE group (n = 11 patients, 20 implants) received TSFE without EMD application. The patients were recalled at 3 (T3) and 12 (T12) months postsurgery. The residual bone height (RBH), implant protrusion length (IPL), peri-implant sinus bone level (SBL), endo-sinus bone gain (ESBG), and implant stability (ISQ) were measured. Multivariate regressions were performed for the groups. Results: At T3, the ESBG was 3.72 ± 0.85 mm in the EMD+TSFE group and 3.10 ± 0.05 mm in the TSFE group, and there were statistically significant differences (P < .05). However, there were no statistically significant differences in ESBG at T12 between the groups (P > .05). ISQ values did not show a statistical difference between the groups at T1 and T3, but at T3 in the TSFE+EMD group, there was a statistical increase in the intragroup evaluation compared to the TSFE group. Conclusions: The use of EMD in TSFE procedures is effective in new bone formation at the apical part of the implant during the early healing period, but in the long term, no significant difference was shown between cases in which EMD was or was not used in terms of new bone formation and primary and secondary stabilization. Microgravity has been shown to lead to both muscle atrophy and impaired muscle regeneration. The purpose was to study the efficacy of microgravity to model impaired muscle regeneration in an engineered muscle platform and then to demonstrate the feasibility of performing drug screening in this model. Engineered human muscle was launched to the International Space Station National Laboratory, where the effect of microgravity exposure for 7 days was examined by transcriptomics and proteomics approaches. Gene set enrichment analysis of engineered muscle cultured in microgravity, compared to normal gravity conditions, highlighted a metabolic shift toward lipid and fatty acid metabolism, along with increased apoptotic gene expression. The addition of pro-regenerative drugs, insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and a 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase inhibitor (15-PGDH-i), partially inhibited the effects of microgravity. In summary, microgravity mimics aspects of impaired myogenesis, and the addition of these drugs could partially inhibit the effects induced by microgravity.

Tissue regeneration after damage is generally thought to involve the mobilization of adult stem cells that divide and differentiate into progressively specialized progeny. However, recent studies indicate that tissue regeneration can be accompanied by reversion to a fetal-like state. During this process, cells at the injury site reactivate programs that operate during fetal development but are typically absent in adult homeostasis. Here, we summarize our current understanding of the molecular signals and epigenetic mediators that orchestrate "fetal-like reversion" during intestinal regeneration. We also explore evidence for this phenomenon in other organs and species and highlight open questions that merit future examination.

Structural repair of the intestinal epithelium is strongly correlated with disease remission in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); however, ulcer healing is not addressed by existing therapies. To address this need, this study reports the use of a small molecule prolyl hydroxylase (PHD) inhibitor (DPCA) to upregulate hypoxia-inducible factor one-alpha (HIF-1α) and induce mammalian regeneration. Sustained delivery of DPCA is achieved through subcutaneous injections of a supramolecular hydrogel, formed through the self-assembly of PEG-DPCA conjugates. Pre-treatment of mice with PEG-DPCA is shown to protect mice from epithelial erosion and symptoms of dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. Surprisingly, a single subcutaneous dose of PEG-DPCA, administered after disease onset, leads to accelerated weight gain and complete restoration of healthy tissue architecture in colitic mice. Rapid DPCA-induced restoration of the intestinal barrier is likely orchestrated by increased expression of HIF-1α and associated targets leading to an epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. Further investigation of DPCA as a potential adjunctive or stand-alone restorative treatment to combat active IBD is warranted.

Developmental reprogramming allows for flexibility in growth and adaptation to changing environmental conditions. In plants, wounding events can result in new stem cell niches and lateral organs. Adventitious roots develop from aerial parts of the plant and are regulated by multiple stimuli, including wounding. Here, we find that Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings wounded at the hypocotyl-root junction reprogram certain pericycle cells to produce adventitious roots proximal to the wound site. We have determined that competence for this reprogramming is controlled; basal cells close to the wound site can produce adventitious roots, whereas cells distal from the wound site mostly cannot. We found that altering cytokinin response or indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)-to-(indole-3-acetic acid) IAA conversion resulted in an expanded adventitious root competence zone and delineated the connection between these pathways. Our work highlights the importance of endogenous IBA-derived auxin and its interaction with cytokinin in adventitious root formation and the regenerative properties of plants. Background: Plant breeding played a very important role in transforming strawberries from being a niche crop with a small geographical footprint into an economically important crop grown across the planet. But even modern marker assisted breeding takes a considerable amount of time, over multiple plant generations, to produce a plant with desirable traits. As a quicker alternative, plants with desirable traits can be raised through tissue culture by doing precise genetic manipulations. Overexpression of morphogenic regulators previously known for meristem development, the transcription factors Growth-Regulating Factors (GRFs) and the GRF-Interacting Factors (GIFs), provided an efficient strategy for easier regeneration and transformation in multiple crops. Results: We present here a comprehensive protocol for the diploid strawberry Fragaria vesca Hawaii 4 (strawberry) regeneration and transformation under control condition as compared to ectopic expression of different GRF4-GIF1 chimeras from different plant species. We report that ectopic expression of Vitis vinifera VvGRF4-GIF1 provides significantly higher regeneration efficiency during re-transformation over wild-type plants. On the other hand, deregulated expression of miRNA resistant version of VvGRF4-GIF1 or Triticum aestivum (wheat) TaGRF4-GIF1 resulted in abnormalities. Transcriptomic analysis between the different chimeric GRF4-GIF1 lines indicate that differential expression of FvExpansin might be responsible for the observed pleiotropic effects. Similarly, cytokinin dehydrogenase/oxygenase and cytokinin responsive response regulators also showed differential expression indicating GRF4-GIF1 pathway playing important role in controlling cytokinin homeostasis. Conclusion: Our data indicate that ectopic expression of Vitis vinifera VvGRF4-GIF1 chimera can provide significant advantage over wild-type plants during strawberry regeneration without producing any pleiotropic effects seen for the miRNA resistant VvGRF4-GIF1 or TaGRF4-GIF1. Dental diseases such as caries and periodontitis have been common public health problems. Dental disease treatment can be achieved through stem cell-based dental regeneration. Biophysical cues determine the fate of stem cells and govern the success of dental regeneration. Some studies have manifested exosomes derived from stem cells could not only inherit biophysical signals in microenvironment but also evade some issues in the treatment with stem cells. Nowadays, biophysical cue-regulated exosomes become another promising therapy in dental regenerative medicine. However, methods to improve the efficacy of exosome therapy and the underlying mechanisms are still unresolved. In this review, the association between biophysical cues and dental diseases was summarized. We retrospected the role of exosomes regulated by biophysical cues in curing dental diseases and promoting dental regeneration. Our research also delved into the mechanisms by which biophysical cues control the biogenesis, release, and uptake of exosomes, as well as potential methods to enhance the effectiveness of exosomes. To improve the regeneration efficiency of methylene blue (MB) saturated biochar in H2O2 system, biochar was modified by Fe‐doped by using FeSO4 and Fe(NO3)3 as iron sources. The effects of Fe‐doped on its microstructure were characterized by XRD, SEM, and BET. The adsorption and regeneration performance of biochar before and after Fe‐doped were compared through adsorption and regeneration experiments. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, electron spin resonance, and quenching experiments were used to explore the regeneration mechanism. The results show that Fe‐doped biochar (SP‐GBC) prepared from FeSO4 maintains a high specific surface area of 1205.9 m2/g and a high adsorption capacity of 375.43 mg·g−1 for MB. After adsorption, the MB‐saturated SP‐GBC exhibits excellent regeneration performance in the H2O2 system, in which the regeneration efficiencies for five consecutive cycles are 85.76%, 83.92%, 94.01%, 99.24%, and 100.79%, respectively. The synergistic effect of H2O2 desorption and degradation is the main regeneration mechanism for MB‐saturated SP‐GBC. The zero valent iron and Fe (II) on the surface of SP‐GBC are the main active sites for H2O2 activation, while 1O2 and HO· are the main oxidation species. Background: Lack of insight into factors that determine purity and quality of human iPSC (hiPSC)-derived neo-cartilage precludes applications of this powerful technology toward regenerative solutions in the clinical setting. Here, we set out to generate methylome-wide landscapes of hiPSC-derived neo-cartilages from different tissues-of-origin and integrated transcriptome-wide data to identify dissimilarities in set points of methylation with associated transcription and the respective pathways in which these genes act. Methods: We applied in vitro chondrogenesis using hiPSCs generated from two different tissue sources: skin fibroblasts and articular cartilage. Upon differentiation toward chondrocytes, these are referred to as hFiCs and hCiC, respectively. Genome-wide DNA methylation and RNA sequencing datasets were generated of the hiPSC-derived neo-cartilages, and the epigenetically regulated transcriptome was compared to that of neo-cartilage deposited by human primary articular cartilage (hPAC). Results: Methylome-wide landscapes of neo-cartilages of hiPSCs reprogrammed from two different somatic tissues were 85% similar to that of hPACs. By integration of transcriptome-wide data, differences in transcriptionally active CpGs between hCiC relative to hPAC were prioritized. Among the CpG-gene pairs lower expressed in hCiCs relative to hPACs, we identified genes such as MGP, GDF5, and CHAD enriched in closely related pathways and involved in cartilage development that likely mark phenotypic differences in chondrocyte states. Vice versa, among the CpG-gene pairs higher expressed, we identified genes such as KIF1A or NKX2-2 enriched in neurogenic pathways and likely reflecting off target differentiation. Conclusions: We did not find significant variation between the neo-cartilages derived from hiPSCs of different tissue sources, suggesting that application of a robust differentiation protocol such as we applied here is more important as compared to the epigenetic memory of the cells of origin. Results of our study could be further exploited to improve quality, purity, and maturity of hiPSC-derived neo-cartilage matrix, ultimately to realize introduction of sustainable, hiPSC-derived neo-cartilage implantation into clinical practice. In this paper, we aim to understand how long‐term state neglect of public infrastructure coexists with a renewed emphasis on profit‐driven infrastructure development in urban contexts. We focus on Exarcheia, an Athens neighbourhood known for its radical character, where a lack of public infrastructure investment aligns with plans for new transport infrastructure and urban regeneration. Using a participatory action research approach and engaging in collective discussions with grassroots organisations opposing these plans, we argue that prolonged austerity following the 2008 economic crisis has redefined state‐funded public infrastructures, aligning them more closely with the speculative interests of real estate, commercial, and infrastructure capital. The interplay of austerity infrastructure, gentrification, and spatial violence manifests as a form of slow urbicide, paving the way for revanchist urban regeneration that prioritises the commercial exploitation of urban space at the expense of the historical, political, and cultural identities of affected neighbourhoods. Both development and regeneration depend on signaling centers, which are sources of locally secreted tissue‐patterning molecules. As many signaling centers are decommissioned before the end of embryogenesis, a fundamental question is how signaling centers can be re‐induced later in life to promote regeneration after injury. Here, we use the axolotl salamander model (Ambystoma mexicanum) to address how the floor plate is assembled for spinal cord regeneration. The floor plate is an archetypal vertebrate signaling center that secretes Shh ligand and patterns neural progenitor cells during embryogenesis. Unlike mammals, axolotls continue to express floor plate genes (including Shh) and downstream dorsal–ventral patterning genes in their spinal cord throughout life, including at steady state. The parsimonious hypothesis that Shh+ cells give rise to functional floor plate cells for regeneration had not been tested. Using HCR in situ hybridization and mathematical modeling, we first quantified the behaviors of dorsal–ventral spinal cord domains, identifying significant increases in gene expression level and floor plate size during regeneration. Next, we established a transgenic axolotl to specifically label and fate map Shh+ cells in vivo. We found that labeled Shh+ cells gave rise to regeneration floor plate, and not to other neural progenitor domains, after tail amputation. Thus, despite changes in domain size and downstream patterning gene expression, Shh+ cells retain their floor plate identity during regeneration, acting as a stable cellular source for this regeneration signaling center in the axolotl spinal cord. Background: Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a neuronal peptide with prominent distribution along the enteric nervous system. While effects of VIP on intestinal motility, mucosal vasodilation, secretion, and mucosal immune cell function are well-studied, the direct impact of VIP on intestinal epithelial cell turnover and differentiation remains less understood. Intestinal stem and progenitor cells are essential for the maintenance of intestinal homeostasis and regeneration, and their functions can be modulated by factors of the stem cell niche, including neuronal mediators. Here, we investigated the role of VIP in regulating intestinal epithelial homeostasis and regeneration following irradiation-induced injury. Methods: Jejunal organoids were derived from male and female C57Bl6/J, Lgr5-EGFP-IRES-CreERT2 or Lgr5-EGFP-IRES-CreERT2/R26R-LSL-TdTomato mice and treated with VIP prior to analysis. Injury conditions were induced by exposing organoids to 6 Gy of irradiation (IR). To investigate protective effects of VIP in vivo, mice received 12 Gy of abdominal IR followed by intraperitoneal injections of VIP. Results: We observed that VIP promotes epithelial differentiation towards a secretory phenotype predominantly via the p38 MAPK pathway. Moreover, VIP prominently modulated epithelial proliferation as well as the number and proliferative activity of Lgr5-EGFP+ progenitor cells under homeostatic conditions. In the context of acute irradiation injury in vitro, we observed that IR injury renders Lgr5-EGFP+ progenitor cells more susceptible to VIP-induced modulations, which coincided with the strong promotion of epithelial regeneration by VIP. Finally, the observed effects translate into an in vivo model of abdominal irradiation, where VIP showed to prominently mitigate radiation-induced injury. Conclusions: VIP prominently governs intestinal homeostasis by regulating epithelial progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation and promotes intestinal regeneration following acute irradiation injury. Stem cells and regenerative medicine have recently become important research topics. However, the complex stem cell regulatory networks involved in various microRNA (miRNA)-mediated mechanisms have not yet been fully elucidated. Planarians are ideal animal models for studying stem cells owing to their rich stem cell populations (neoblasts) and extremely strong regeneration capacity. The roles of planarian miRNAs in stem cells and regeneration have long attracted attention. However, previous studies have generally provided simple datasets lacking integrative analysis. Here, we have summarized the miRNA family reported in planarians and highlighted conservation in both sequence and function. Furthermore, we summarized miRNA data related to planarian stem cells and regeneration and screened potential involved candidates. Nevertheless, the roles of these miRNAs in planarian regeneration and stem cells remain unclear. The identification of potential stem cell-related miRNAs offers more precise suggestions and references for future investigations of miRNAs in planarians. Furthermore, it provides potential research avenues for understanding the mechanisms of stem cell regulatory networks. Finally, we compiled a summary of the experimental methods employed for studying planarian miRNAs, with the aim of highlighting special considerations in certain procedures and providing more convenient technical support for future research endeavors. Introduction: Athletic training requires both challenging stimuli for adaptation and sufficient recovery for improved performance. While cold water immersion (CWI) is already a popular recovery method, handheld percussive massage (PM) devices have also gained popularity in recent years. This study aims to assess the effects of CWI and PM on performance recovery after strenuous eccentric exercises compared to a passive rest (PR) control condition. Methods: Thirty-four healthy physically active participants (9 females, 25 males) were randomly divided into three groups: CWI (n = 11), PM (n = 11), and passive rest (PR) (n = 12). They underwent an exhausting eccentric exercise protocol and different measurements at six time points (baseline, POST1, POST2, POST24, POST48, and POST72) over the time course of 72 h. These included subjective assessments of muscle soreness and perceived stiffness as well as measures of skin temperature, leg volume, creatine kinase activity, and three different jump tests. The eccentric exercise protocol consisted of 15 min downhill running (slope: 12%, speed: 10 km/h) and 3 sets of successive depth jumps (dropping height: 0.5 m) until individual exhaustion. After POST1 measurements, participants received 12 min of either CWI (11 ± 0.5°C), PM (40 Hz) or PR (supine posture). Results: No significant group effects were found for the number of depth jumps performed during the exhaustion protocol. All jump tests displayed a significant group x time interaction effect. Post-hoc analysis indicated significant lower jump heights in Î"POST2 between CWI and both PM and PR. No other significant group effects were observed at any time point. No significant group x time interaction effects were noted for CK, leg volume, and soreness. The perceived stiffness showed a significant group x time interaction effect. Post-hoc analysis revealed a significant decrease in stiffness for PM compared to PR at Î"POST2. Conclusion: Neither CWI nor PM showed any significant improvement in performance recovery over the 72-h period following strenuous eccentric exercise compared to PR. Objectives: Oral mucosal lesions are prevalent and often cause pain, thus impacting patients' quality of life. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) has emerged as a promising autologous biomaterial for wound healing, yet comprehensive evidence regarding its efficacy in treating oral mucosal lesions is limited. This study aims to update the current evidence on the effectiveness of PRF in treating various types of oral mucosal lesions. Materials and methods: We conducted a literature search in PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science databases until April 2024. The search included studies that investigated the use of PRF in treating oral mucosal lesions. Twelve studies met the inclusion criteria, comprising three case reports, three randomized controlled trials, two animal studies, three split-mouth trials, and one retrospective study. We performed data extraction according to a predefined form. Results: PRF was applied in two forms—membranes and injectable gels—to treat a range of oral mucosal lesions, including ulcerative, red and white, pigmented, and potentially malignant or malignant lesions. Compared to control groups or conventional treatments, PRF generally demonstrated superior outcomes regarding faster healing, lesion size reduction, symptom relief, and lower recurrence rates. Histological and molecular analyses from some studies also indicated PRF's regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects. Conclusion: PRF shows promise as an effective and safe alternative to current treatments for oral mucosal lesions due to its autologous nature, ease of preparation, and wound-healing capabilities. Seminal studies from the early 20th century defined the structural changes associated with development and regeneration of the gills in goldfish at the gross morphological and cellular levels using standard techniques of light and electron microscopy. More recently, investigations using cell lineage tracing, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry and single-cell RNA-sequencing have pushed the field forward and have begun to reveal the cellular and molecular processes that orchestrate cell proliferation and regeneration in the gills. The gill is a multifunctional organ that mediates an array of important physiological functions, including respiration, ion regulation and excretion of waste products. It is comprised of unique cell types, such as pavement cells, ionocytes, chemoreceptors and undifferentiated stem or progenitor cells that regulate growth and replenish cell populations. The gills develop from the embryonic endoderm and are rich in cell types derived from the neural crest. The gills have the capacity to remodel themselves in response to environmental change, such as in the case of ionocytes, chemoreceptors and the interlamellar cell mass, and can completely regenerate gill filaments and lamellae. Both processes of remodeling and regeneration invariably involve cell proliferation. Although gill regeneration has been reported in only a limited number of fish species, the process appears to have many similarities to regeneration of other organs in fish and amphibians. The present article reviews the studies that have described gill development and growth, and that demonstrate a suite of genes, transcription factors and other proteins involved in cell proliferation and regeneration in the gills. Most retinal and optic nerve diseases pose significant threats to vision, primarily due to irreversible retinal neuronal cell death, a permanent change, which is a critical factor in their pathogenesis. Conditions such as glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration are the top four leading causes of blindness among the elderly in Japan. While standard treatments—including reduction in intraocular pressure, anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapies, and retinal photocoagulation—can partially delay disease progression, their therapeutic effects remain limited. To address these shortcomings, a range of neuroprotective and regenerative therapies, aimed at preventing retinal neuronal cell loss, have been extensively studied and increasingly integrated into clinical practice over the last two decades. Several of these neuroprotective therapies have achieved on-label usage worldwide. This narrative review introduces several neuroprotective and regenerative therapies for retinal and optic nerve diseases that have been successfully translated into clinical practice, providing foundational knowledge and success stories that serve as valuable references for researchers in the field. Organ and tissue damage can result from injury and disease. How to facilitate regeneration from damage has been a topic for centuries, and still, we are trying to find agents to use for treatments. Two groups of biological substances are known to facilitate wound healing. Phytochemicals with bioactive properties form one group. Many phytochemicals have anti-inflammatory effects and enhance wound healing. Recent studies have described their effects at the gene and protein expression levels, highlighting the receptors and signaling pathways involved. The extremely large number of phytochemicals and the multiple types of receptors they activate suggest a broad range of applicability for their clinical use. The hydrophobic nature of many phytochemicals and the difficulty with chemical stabilization have been a problem. Recent developments in biotechnology and nanotechnology methods are enabling researchers to overcome these problems. The other group of biological substances is extracellular vesicles (EVs), which are now known to have important biological functions, including the improvement of wound healing. The proteins and nanoparticles contained in mammalian EVs as well as the specificity of the targets of microRNAs included in the EVs are becoming clear. Plant-derived EVs have been found to contain phytochemicals. The overlap in the wound-healing capabilities of both phytochemicals and EVs and the differences in their nature suggest the possibility of a combinatorial use of the two groups, which may enhance their effects. Apoptosis, inflammation, and wound healing are critical pathophysiological events associated with various liver diseases. Currently, there is a lack of in vivo approaches to study hepatocyte apoptosis-induced liver injury and repair. To address this critical knowledge gap, we developed a unique genetically modified mouse model, namely, 3-Transgene (Tg) with inducible Hepatocyte-Specific Apoptosis Phenotype (3xTg-iHAP) in this study. The 3xTg-iHAP mice possess three transgenes including Alb-Cre, Rosa26-rtTA, and tetO-Fasl on a B6 background. These mice are phenotypically normal, viable, and fertile. After subcutaneous administration of a single dose of doxycycline (5 mg/kg, Dox) to 3xTg-iHAP mice, we observed a complete histological spectrum of sterile liver wound-healing responses: asymptomatic hepatocyte apoptosis at 8 h, necrotic liver injury and sterile inflammation at 48 h, followed by hepatocyte mitosis and regeneration within 7 days. During the injury phase, the mice exhibited an increase in the biomarkers of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 1 (CXCL1), and IL-6 in peripheral blood, as well as α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) protein in liver tissues. Conversely, the mice displayed a decrease in these markers in the recovery phase. Remarkably, this model shows that the sterile liver injury following elevated hepatocyte apoptosis is associated with an increase in myeloid cells in the liver. Within 7 days post-Dox administration, the liver of Dox-treated 3xTg-iHAP mice displays a normal histological structure, indicating the completion of wound healing. Together, we established a novel mouse model of injury and regeneration induced by hepatocyte apoptosis. This tool provides a robust in vivo platform for studying the pathophysiology of sterile liver inflammation, regeneration, and new therapeutic interventions for liver diseases. Regeneration can effectively restore the adsorption capacity of adsorbents, enabling sustainable adsorption–desorption–adsorption cycles to be maintained. The regeneration of waste adsorbents has been extensively documented. However, there is few research on the adsorption properties and the mechanism after regeneration. The regeneration of aluminum-based phosphorus-inactivation agent (Al-PIA) and recovery of phosphate from Al-PIA were achieved in the previous study. Therefore, this study determined the mechanism and effects of Al-PIA recycling on phosphate removal, following regeneration for 30 min using 0.75 mol/L hydrochloric acid. Results show that the rate of adsorption by regenerated aluminum-based phosphorus-inactivation agent (Re-Al-PIA) was faster within the first 15 h, reaching equilibrium at around 50 h, with the rate-determining step being intraparticle diffusion. The adsorption saturation concentration of Re-Al-PIA was 6.92 mg/g, with phosphate adsorption occurring via a spontaneous, heat-absorbing, and chaotic process. Regeneration restored the phosphate removal capacity of Al-PIA. Al-PIA maintained its initial phosphate adsorption capacity after three cycles. The phosphate removal mechanisms of Re-Al-PIA were physical adsorption, electrostatic adsorption, surface precipitation, and ligand exchange. Regeneration provided favorable physical conditions for phosphate adsorption, enhancing the electrostatic adsorption capacity of the material while also restoring surface precipitation and ligand exchange for phosphate removal. These results can provide theoretical basis and technical support for the practical application of Al-PIA regeneration and a reference method for regeneration of the other phosphate removal materials. Cell-based therapies hold great promise for brain repair after stroke. While accumulating evidence confirms the preclinical and clinical benefits of cell therapies, the underlying mechanisms by which they promote brain repair remain unclear. Here, we briefly review endogenous mechanisms of brain repair after ischaemic stroke and then focus on how different stem and progenitor cell sources can promote brain repair. Specifically, we examine how transplanted cell grafts contribute to improved functional recovery either through direct cell replacement or by stimulating endogenous repair pathways. Additionally, we discuss recently implemented preclinical refinement methods, such as preconditioning, microcarriers, genetic safety switches and universal (immune evasive) cell transplants, as well as the therapeutic potential of these pharmacologic and genetic manipulations to further enhance the efficacy and safety of cell therapies. Life on Earth has been through numerous challenges over eons and, one way or another, has always triumphed. From mass extinctions to more daily plights to find food, unpredictability is everywhere. The adaptability of life-forms to ever-changing environments is the key that confers life's robustness. Adaptability has become synonymous with Darwinian evolution mediated by heritable genetic changes. The extreme gene-centric view, while being of central significance, at times has clouded our appreciation of the cell as a self-regulating entity informed of, and informing, the genetic data. An essential element that powers adaptability is the ability to regulate cell growth. In this review, we provide an extensive overview of growth regulation spanning species, tissues, and regulatory mechanisms. We aim to highlight the commonalities, as well as differences, of these phenomena and their molecular regulators. Finally, we curate open questions and areas for further exploration. To enhance forest resilience to predicted increases in forest stressors, managers increasingly desire ecologically based restoration approaches that increase ecosystem adaptation potential. Mixedwood stands, which contain a range of life history and functional traits, may be more resistant and resilient to ecosystem stressors. Management of Quercus–Pinus mixedwood stands includes the use of prescribed fire, which requires an understanding of vegetation-fuels-fire feedbacks in these ecosystems. However, a paucity of knowledge exists on the intra-stand spatial patterns of fire effects. We analyzed the effects of a newly initiated prescribed fire program on the intra-stand characteristics of understory woody plants and fuelbed composition and loading in a long-unburned Quercus–Pinus mixedwood stand in Tennessee, USA. We sampled vegetation and fuels in two plots, one that experienced two prescribed fires (burned plot), and one fire-excluded plot directly adjacent (unburned plot). On the burned plot, we recorded lower sapling and seedling densities across taxa. Spatial analysis of advance reproduction in the burned plot indicated a combination of patchy fire effects, canopy openings, and high-light understory environments. We documented significant reductions in total fuel mass. The combination of spatial analysis and ordination revealed that prescribed fires homogenized fuel loads within the burned plot. Regeneration, the complex process of restoring damaged or absent cells, tissues, and organs, varies considerably between species. The zebrafish is a remarkable model organism for its impressive regenerative abilities, particularly in organs such as the heart, fin, retina, spinal cord, and brain. Unlike mammals, zebrafish can regenerate with limited or absent scarring, a phenomenon closely linked to the activation of stem cells and immune cells. This review examines the unique roles played by the immune response and inflammation in zebrafish and mouse during regeneration, highlighting the cellular and molecular mechanisms behind their divergent regenerative capacities. By focusing on zebrafish telencephalic regeneration and comparing it to that of the rodents, this review highlights the importance of a well‐controlled, acute, and non‐persistent immune response in zebrafish, which promotes an environment conducive to regeneration. The knowledge gained from understanding the mechanisms of zebrafish regeneration holds great promises for the treatment of human neurodegenerative diseases and brain damage (stroke and traumatic brain injuries), as well as for the advancement of regenerative medicine approaches. Regenerative medicine aims to restore, replace, and regenerate human cells, tissues, and organs. Despite significant advancements, many cell therapy trials for cardiovascular diseases face challenges like cell survival and immune compatibility, with benefits largely stemming from paracrine effects. Two promising therapeutic tools have been recently emerged in cardiovascular diseases: extracellular vesicles (EVs) and mitochondrial transfer. Concerning EVs, the first pivotal study with EV-enriched secretome derived from cardiovascular progenitor cells has been done treating heart failure. This first in man demonstrated the safety and feasibility of repeated intravenous infusions and highlighted significant clinical improvements, including enhanced cardiac function and reduced symptoms in heart failure patients. The second study uncovered a novel mechanism of endothelial regeneration through mitochondrial transfer via tunneling nanotubes (TNTs). This research showed that mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) transfer mitochondria to endothelial cells, significantly enhancing their bioenergetics and vessel-forming capabilities. This mitochondrial transfer was crucial for endothelial cell engraftment and function, offering a new strategy for vascular regeneration without the need for additional cell types. Combining EV and mitochondrial strategies presents new clinical opportunities. These approaches could revolutionize regenerative medicine, offering new hope for treating cardiovascular and other degenerative diseases. In developed economies, the growing number of older individuals is a pressing issue. As a result, research progress into ageing has emphasized the significance of staying healthy in one's later years. Stem cells have a fundamental role to play in fostering diverse cell types and necessary processes for tissue repair and regeneration. Stem cells experience the effects of ageing over time, which is caused by their functional deterioration. Changes to stem cells, their niches and signals from other tissues they interact with are crucial factors in the ageing of stem cells. Progress in single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology has greatly advanced stem cell research. Based on recent single-cell transcriptomics and lineage tracing, sst1.1 + cell transdifferentiation and krt4 + cell differentiation have recently been recognized as the major sources of regeneration of insulin-producing cells in zebrafish. Large-scale in vivo small molecule screening has been successfully applied in zebrafish for the unbiased identification of chemicals promoting β-cell regeneration and glucose control. Multiple compounds have been validated to also promote β-cell proliferation, differentiation, or function in mammalian systems. Live imaging in zebrafish enables visualization of complex biological processes at the single-cell resolution in vivo (e.g., calcium flux in β-cells) as well as innervation and immune cell behaviors in the islet. Role of genes identified in human genetic data [e.g. genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and single-cell sequencing data] can be efficiently elucidated in zebrafish. The zebrafish has become an outstanding model for studying organ development and tissue regeneration, which is prominently leveraged for studies of pancreatic development, insulin-producing β-cells, and diabetes. Although studied for more than two decades, many aspects remain elusive and it has only recently been possible to investigate these due to technical advances in transcriptomics, chemical-genetics, genome editing, drug screening, and in vivo imaging. Here, we review recent findings on zebrafish pancreas development, β-cell regeneration, and how zebrafish can be used to provide novel insights into gene functions, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic targets in diabetes, inspiring further use of zebrafish for the development of novel therapies for diabetes. Purpose: To explore utilization and efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in different sub-specialties of otolaryngology. Methods: A systematic search was performed using Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PubMed, EMBASE, Medline, Clinicaltrials.gov, Scopus, and Google Scholar up to March 2024. English language randomized controlled trials with original data evaluating the use of PRP and PRF in various surgical and non-surgical procedures related to otolaryngologic sub-specialties. Dataset was limited to randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to have the best quality of evidence and possible recommendation. Results: Our database search resulted in 591 manuscripts. Four hundred twenty-six studies were primarily excluded after reviewing the title and abstract. The remaining 165 articles were studied completely, and 51 articles met the inclusion criteria. All the studies were RCTs and dated from 2001 to 2024. They included 19 studies related to otology, 10 studies related to rhinology, 7 studies related to facial plastic surgery, 6 studies related to head and neck surgery, 3 studies related to general otolaryngology, 3 studies related to pediatrics, 2 studies related to laryngology, and 1 study related to sleep medicine. Conclusion: PRP and PRF are safe, easy to use, and potentially effective treatment options for multiple otolaryngology pathologies. As an autologous material, there is no risk of immune reaction, and thus has been selected as a viable treatment option by many otolaryngologists. Objective(s): Mammals have limited limb regeneration compared to amphibians. The role of Wnt signaling pathways in limb regeneration has rarely been studied. So, this study aimed to investigate the effect of Wnt-signaling using chemicals CHIR99021 and IWP-2 on amputated mice digit tips regeneration in an in vitro organ culture system. Materials and Methods: The distal phalanx of paws from C57BL/6J mouse fetuses at E14.5, E16.5, and E18.5 was amputated. Then, the hands were cultured for 7 days. Subsequently, paws were treated with 1–50 µg/ml concentration of CHIR99021 and 5–10 µg/ml concentration of IWP-2. Finally, the new tissue regrowth was assessed by histological analysis, immunohistochemistry for BC, TCF1, CAN, K14, and P63 genes, and beta-catenin and Tcf1 genes were evaluated with RT-qPCR. Results: The paws of E14.5 and E16.5 days were shrinkaged and compressed after 7 days, so the paws of 18.5E that were alive were selected. As a result, newly-grown masses at digit tips were observed in 25 and 30 µl/ml concentrations of the CHR99021 group but not in the IWP2 treatment (*P<0.05; **P<0.01). qRT-PCR analysis confirmed the significant up-regulation of beta-catenin and Tcf1 genes in CHIR99021 group in comparison to the IWP-2 group (P<0.05). Moreover, Alcian-blue staining demonstrated the presence of cartilage-like tissue at regenerated mass in the CHIR group. In immunohistochemistry analysis beta-catenin, ACN, Keratin-14, and P63 protein expression were observed in digit tips in the CHIR-treated group. Mammalian lung is the important organ for ventilation and exchange of air and blood. Fresh air and venous blood are constantly delivered through the airway and vascular tree to the alveolus. Based on this, the airways and alveolis are persistently exposed to the external environment and are easily suffered from toxins, irritants and pathogens. For example, acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS) is a common cause of respiratory failure in critical patients, whose typical pathological characters are diffuse epithelial and endothelial damage resulting in excessive accumulation of inflammatory fluid in the alveolar cavity. The supportive treatment is the main current treatment for ALI/ARDS with the lack of targeted effective treatment strategies. However, ALI/ARDS needs more targeted treatment measures. Therefore, it is extremely urgent to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that maintain alveolar epithelial barrier and airway integrity. Previous researches have shown that the lung epithelial cells with tissue stem cell function have the ability to repair and regenerate after injury. Also, it is able to regulate the phenotype and function of innate immune cells involving in regeneration of tissue repair. Meanwhile, we emphasize that interaction between the lung epithelial cells and innate immune cells is more supportive to repair and regenerate in the lung epithelium following acute lung injury. We reviewed the recent advances in injury and repair of lung epithelial stem cells and innate immune cells in ALI/ARDS, concentrating on alveolar type 2 cells and alveolar macrophages and their contribution to post-injury repair behavior of ALI/ARDS through the latest potential molecular communication mechanisms. We present data on the ability for organogenesis in 22 genotypes of grapevine and developed a direct organogenesis protocol for the cultivar Podarok Magaracha and the rootstock Kober 5BB. The protocol does not require replacement of culture media and growth regulators, and the duration is 11 weeks. The cultivation of explants occurs on modified MS medium with the addition of 2.0 mg L−1 benzyladenine and indole-3-butyric acid (0.15 mg L−1 for the rootstock Kober 5BB or 0.05 mg L−1 for the cultivar Podarok Magaracha). The direct organogenesis protocol consists of three time periods: (1) culturing explants for 2 weeks in dark conditions for meristematic bulk tissue, (2) followed by 4 weeks of cultivation in light conditions for regeneration, and (3) 5 weeks of cultivation in dark conditions for shoot elongation. Based on this protocol, conditions for the Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of the Podarok Magaracha cultivar were developed with an efficiency of 2.0% transgenic plants per 100 explants. Aging and regeneration are opposite cellular processes. Aging refers to progressive dysfunction in most cells and tissues, and regeneration refers to the replacement of damaged or dysfunctional cells or tissues with existing adult or somatic stem cells. Various studies have shown that aging is accompanied by decreased regenerative abilities, indicating a link between them. The performance of any cellular process needs to be supported by the energy that is majorly produced by mitochondria. Thus, mitochondria may be a link between aging and regeneration. It should be interesting to discuss how mitochondria behave during aging and regeneration. The changes of mitochondria in aging and regeneration discussed in this review can provide a timely and necessary study of the causal roles of mitochondrial homeostasis in longevity and health. Diabetes is one of the most common diseases worldwide. Type I diabetes is characterized by the degeneration of ß-cells. The present study is an attempt in the search of a suitable and efficient way to enhance the transdifferentiation ability of mature fibroblasts by using transgene free cellular approach in order to improve the cell-based therapeutics for diabetes. In the present study, we analyzed the effect of 2, 4 - Dinitrophenol (DNP) on the transdifferentiation of NIH3T3 cells into insulin producing ß-cells (IPCs). DNP is a lipophilic weak acid that uncouple oxidative phosphorylation by decreasing ATP production. Cells treated with DNP were analyzed for the morphological changes and islet specific markers (MafA, Ngn3, Nkx 6.1, Pdx-1, insulin, glucagon, somatostatin and Sca-1) at gene and protein levels. In the presence of DNP, NIH3T3 cells appeared round, small and contracted while after reoxygenation they regained the normal fibroblast like spindle shaped morphology. The strategy to induce efficient transdifferentiation of NIH3T3 cells into IPCs has shown positive endocrine expression pattern, specifically ß-cell specific transcription factors, demonstrating their successful regeneration. It is concluded that DNP has a potential to induce efficient transdifferentiation of NIH3T3 cells into insulin producing ß-cells. The study could further be evaluated for their in vivo effect and serve as an improved and effective cellular therapeutic option for type 1 diabetes. It may offer the possibility of improved regeneration of damaged ß-cells from mature cell type to functional insulin producing ß-cells that could serve as a future therapeutic approach for diabetes. Chickpea is a crucial pulse crop worldwide, serving as a significant source of protein. It is predominantly cultivated in the Indian subcontinent, where diverse consumption patterns have driven increased production demand. An efficient regeneration protocol is required for genetic manipulation of chickpea. We have improvised the regeneration protocol of three chickpea cultivars viz. JG62, BG212 and C-104. Twelve media combinations for shoot induction were utilized to regenerate shoots. These regenerated shoots were successfully grafted onto the rootstocks of their respective cultivars, achieving a grafting success rate of 60–65%. Highest grafting efficiency was observed with 10-day old rootstocks and at a height of 4 cm above the base. To get insight into the grafting process, we performed High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for auxin hormone estimation and expression studies involving a set of genes from auxin pathway including efflux transporters like CaPIN1 (for tissue polarity), CaPIN3 (exhibiting gravity-sensing in tissues), CaHB8 (procambial activity marker), CaTIR1 (transport inhibitor response1), CaARF12 and CaARF14 (auxin-responsive factor), CaH4 (cell division marker) and CaALF4 (aberrant lateral root formation 4) and also CaWIND1 (wound-induced dedifferentiation1) from cytokinin hormone pathway. Semi-quantitative and real time PCR showed relative abundance of these transcripts at graft union site revealing involvement of auxin pathway. An increase in endogenous auxin was also observed at 5 DAG. Thus, our finding supports the canalization hypothesis for successful graft union by regeneration of continuous vascular cambium wherein, high grafting efficiency is achieved by polar auxin transport that regulates vascular reconnection.Key message: Our study shows in vitro regeneration of chickpea shoots and its successful grafting to enhance the rate of shoot to plantlet conversion, also activity of auxin-related genes in vascular reconnection during graft formation. Algae have emerged as a promising approach for the removal of heavy metals from wastewater due to their low-cost, efficient, and eco-friendly characteristics. The unique structural and biochemical properties of algae enable them to remove heavy metals from wastewater using various mechanisms, including physical adsorption, ion exchange, complexation, precipitation, phycoremediation, and bioaccumulation. Algal modification techniques such as pre-treatment, immobilization, and genetic modification are also discussed as means of enhancing the efficiency and specificity of heavy metal removal. The sorption of zinc chloride ions from hydrochloric acid-based solutions using anionic resins was investigated. A two-stage experiment was planned. In the first stage, parameter optimization was performed using the Taguchi experimental optimization approach for type of anionic resins, initial Zn (II) ion concentration, resin dose, agitation rate, and temperature and time of the process as process parameters. According to the signal—to—noise ratio values calculated with the larger better-quality feature; the optimum parameter levels were determined as chloride form resin, 10 g/L, 1200 mg/L, 200 rpm and 35 °C and 90 min, respectively. Under optimum operating conditions, the sorption capacity of the resin for zinc chloride complex ions was 46.52 mg/g. The energy dispersive X-Ray analyses confirmed that zinc chloride complexes bind to the resin's surfaces. In the second step, equilibrium and kinetic tests were performed under the optimum parameters. The tests results were compared with six equilibrium isotherm models with 2 or more parameters and four kinetic models. The non-linear solution approach was applied for all models. Langmuir isotherm and the general order models were the best fit. The values of K L and q m , L for the Langmuir model were 2.15*10–3 L/g and 66.08 mg/g, respectively. The kinetic model can be given by an equation of order 3.26. Accordingly, k n and q e , n were 2.18*10–5 min/(g mg)2.26 and 60.03 mg/g, respectively. Adaptive forest management gains importance as climate and disturbance regimes continue to change. Norway spruce monocultures are particularly vulnerable to those changes. Thus, there is a strong demand to convert pure spruce stands toward better adapted forest ecosystems. Silver fir has similar wood properties as Norway spruce, but is less vulnerable to droughts. Yet, little is known how to efficiently admix silver fir into Norway spruce monocultures. We analyzed seedling abundance in mature Norway spruce monocultures 1 year after soil scarification and silver fir seeding in a relatively dry region of southern Germany. Our objectives were to study the effect of soil scarification and seeding on regeneration density and to identify drivers of seedling abundance. We collected data on regeneration, forest structure, as well as soil and light conditions at 103 scarified and 25 untreated control plots. We used non-parametric independence tests to compare scarified and untreated plots. Subsequently, we used boosted regression trees to investigate the drivers of seedling abundance. Norway spruce strongly benefited from soil scarification (P  < .001), with seedling numbers even exceeding those of silver fir. Both species thrived in soils with high plant available water capacity. In contrast, seedling numbers were overall negatively affected by light. Moreover, we found a higher density of silver fir regeneration at greater distance from neighboring trees and in soils devoid of carbonate. Our study indicates that water, not light, is the limiting factor for both Norway spruce and silver fir seedlings in the study region. Seeding silver fir will likely be most effective underneath an intact canopy on deep, fine-textured soils without carbonate, while maximizing the distance to Norway spruce trees. In conclusion, silver fir seeding can be optimized to become an effective adaptive measure to diversify Norway spruce monocultures, and thus to create more resistant and resilient forest ecosystems. This paper examines the regeneration proposals for two town centres in medium-sized towns in the north of England through the lens of urban design and nocturnal activities. Drawing from the field of night studies, it questions whether the hours of darkness have been included in the proposals and compares the extent to which findings and practical guidance from this emergent cross-disciplinary area of interest have been interpreted and incorporated. The paper argues that towns would benefit from addressing the specific characters and qualities of night time activities, including nightlife, in their policies and masterplans for revitalizing town centres. The mechanism of convective cell initiation and regeneration in the Bandung Basin ( 107. 35 ∘ E - 107. 95 ∘ E ; 6. 75 ∘ S - 7. 25 ∘ S ), Indonesia, is investigated using a Weather Research and Forecasting model. Based on the Cumulative Distribution Function and Regeneration Index, model simulations were conducted using case studies in February–March 2019. Upslope wind flows to the mountain peak in north and south of the basin due to solar heating, carrying water vapor from the bottom of the basin. Therefore, low-level convergence is formed due to the convergence of winds from the bottom of the basin and from outside the basin. The low-level convergence causes the developing updraft, makes atmosphere unstable, and generates convective initiation. The convective system will be developed in the mountains region, produced precipitation, and formed cold pools on the surface. The cold pool will fall down the slopes and convective activity from the mountains will continue to the bottom of the basin. The convective system's outflow causes the cold pool to move in the west–east direction. The cold pool will collide with warmer air from the opposite direction, resulting in an updraft at the cold pool leading edge, and convection will be re-initiated (convective regeneration) in the Bandung Basin, with the new convective system tending to move eastward. Lung injuries are increasingly prevalent due to various diseases causing alveolar damage, potentially leading to respiratory disorders. This study employed an incubation method to develop nano-encapsulated ibuprofen within a chitosan matrix for targeted pulmonary therapy. The encapsulation was successful without altering the molecular structure of chitosan, and a 500 mg dose was identified as optimal through lung tissue cell viability and histological analysis. The controlled release mechanism of this formulation ensures targeted delivery to the lungs, reducing inflammation and promoting alveolar regeneration. Key message: Multi-temporal airborne laser scanning (ALS) data were used to estimate regeneration stem height growth within gaps in uneven-aged deciduous forests. The height and height growth measured in the field were used to calibrate and validate ALS estimates. This method provided highly precise estimates of height and unbiased height increment estimates of regeneration at stem level. Context: Assessing regeneration height growth is essential for evaluating forest dynamics and optimizing silvicultural operations. However, regeneration description at high spatiotemporal resolution has remained limited to restricted areas by the limiting cost constraints of field measurements. Highly precise airborne laser scanning (ALS) data are currently acquired over wide areas. Such datasets are promising for characterizing regeneration dynamics. Aims: We aimed to estimate height and height growth within regenerating areas at the stem level using multi-temporal ALS data. Methods: ALS data were acquired from 56,150 ha of uneven-aged deciduous forest in Belgium in 2014 and 2021. Stem tops were detected using local maxima (LM) within regenerating areas in both ALS datasets and matched. Field data were collected in 2021 and used to calibrate the ALS-estimated heights using linear and non-linear models at stem level. Height growth estimation was then validated using field-measured increments. Results: Without height calibration, the 2021 ALS-estimated height had a − 1.06 m bias and 1.39 m root-mean-squared error (RMSE). Likewise, the 2014 ALS-estimated height had a − 0.58 m bias and 1.14 m RMSE. The non-linear calibration seemed more appropriate for small regeneration stems (height < 4 m). Using height calibration, the 2021 ALS-estimated height had a − 0.01 m bias and 0.84 m RMSE. In 2014, the bias and RMSE were 0.02 and 0.91 m, respectively. ALS-estimated height growth was unbiased and had an RMSE of 0.10 m·year−1. Conclusions: This original method is based on the bi-temporal ALS datasets calibrated by limited field measurements. The proposed method is the first to provide unbiased regeneration height growth of regeneration stems in uneven-aged forests and new perspectives for studying and managing forest regeneration. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a multifactorial autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS). It is characterized by a heightened activation of the immune system with ensuing inflammation, demyelination and neurodegeneration with consequences such as motor, sensory, cognitive, as well as autonomic dysfunctions. While a range of immune-modulatory drugs have shown certain efficacy in alleviating pathology and symptoms, none of the currently available therapeutics regenerates the damaged CNS to restore function. There is emerging evidence for leukotrienes and leukotriene receptors being involved in the various aspects of the MS pathology including neuroinflammation and de/remyelination. Moreover, leukotriene receptor antagonists such as the asthma drug montelukast diminish inflammation and promote regeneration/remyelination. Indeed, montelukast has successfully been tested in animal models of MS and a recent retrospective case-control study suggests that montelukast treatment reduces relapses in patients with MS. Therefore, we propose montelukast as a therapeutic adjuvant to the standard immune-modulatory drugs with the potential to reduce pathology and promote structural and functional restoration. The present study aimed to enhance salicin and direct regeneration in willow (Salix safsaf Forssk) using the sodium nitroprusside (SNP) regulation of nitric oxide (NO) and vinasse for its nutrition effect in culture medium. Internodes of Salix safsaf were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with benzyl adenine (BA) (0.25 mg L−1) and different concentrations of SNP (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mg L−1) or vinasse (0, 5, 10, and 20%) to examine shoot regeneration, antioxidant defense enzyme activity, total phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and salicine contents. The reported data revealed that application of SNP at 15 mg L−1 and vinasse at 10% induced a significant effect in vitro Salix safsaf shoot regeneration. To confirm that, nitric oxide is required for auxin-mediated activation of cell division in a dose-dependent manner. A concentration of 15 mg L−1 SNP promotes regeneration and salicin accumulation (3162.16 mg/100 g) during signaling action. On the other hand, the cross talk effect of nitric oxide and vinasse combination in Salix safsaf significantly induced a synergistic effect on direct propagation more than vinasse alone. SNP significantly stimulates salicylate accumulation in a dose-dependent manner, but the data on the association of vinasse and SNP on salicylate up-regulation showed a significant reduction in salicin accumulation when SNP was combined with 10% vinasse, which directly affected the signaling action of SNP as secondary product stimulators. Vinasse's phenolic compounds affect directly on the reduction activity of SNP to suppress its signaling action, or indirectly by inhibiting the sequence cascade of the SNP signaling transduction process to decrease the accumulation of salicin contents. Data confirmed that vinasse and SNP stimulated the antioxidant enzymes activity throw quenching the stimulated reactive oxygen species that produced via SNP. Results show that modified media with SNP administration at 15 mg L−1 and the combination of vinasse at 10% and SNP at 15 mg L−1 are recommended for modifying tissue culture media for induced direct regeneration and salicin accumulation in tissue culture applications, which will be very useful for commercial salicin overproduction as a biological active ingredient in willows.
