Objective: to analyze postpartum women's perceptions of the role of nurses in the pregnancy-puerperal cycle in light of Peplau's theory. Method: a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, using Peplau's Theory as its theoretical-methodological framework. Data was collected at a Normal Birth Center in Ceará - Brazil, from March to May 2021. A semi-structured interview was conducted with 30 postpartum women. The analysis took place according to the phases of the theory: orientation, identification, exploration, and resolution. Results: the information provided by nurses was not satisfactorily understood and women's autonomy during labor was restricted. Resources such as birth plans and pregnancy groups were not effectively explored. The postpartum women were predominantly satisfied with the resolution of their care. Conclusion: The importance of applying Peplau's theory to nursing care in the puerperal pregnancy cycle was highlighted to promote women's autonomy in the therapeutic process.

Objetivo: analizar la percepción de las puérperas sobre el papel de las enfermeras en el ciclo embarazo-puerperio a la luz de la Teoría de Peplau. Método: estudio descriptivo con abordaje cualitativo, utilizando la Teoría de Peplau como marco teórico-metodológico. Los datos fueron recolectados en un Centro de Parto Normal en Ceará - Brasil, de marzo a mayo de 2021. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a 30 puérperas. Se analizaron según las fases de la teoría: orientación, identificación, exploración y resolución. Resultados: la información facilitada por las enfermeras no se comprendió satisfactoriamente y se restringió la autonomía de las mujeres durante el parto. No se exploraron eficazmente recursos como los planes de parto y los grupos de embarazadas. Las puérperas se mostraron mayoritariamente satisfechas con la resolución de sus cuidados. Conclusión: Se destacó la importancia de aplicar la teoría de Peplau a los cuidados de enfermería en el ciclo puerperal del embarazo para promover la autonomía de las mujeres en el proceso terapéutico.

Objetivo: analisar a percepção das puérperas sobre o papel do enfermeiro no ciclo gravídico-puerperal à luz da Teoria de Peplau. Método: estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, que utilizou como referencial teórico-metodológico a Teoria de Peplau. Os dados foram coletados em um Centro de Parto Normal, no Ceará - Brasil, de março a maio de 2021. Realizou-se entrevista semiestruturada com 30 puérperas. A análise ocorreu de acordo com as fases da teoria: orientação, identificação, exploração e resolução. Resultados: as informações fornecidas pelo enfermeiro não foram compreendidas de forma satisfatória e houve a restrição da autonomia da mulher durante o trabalho de parto. Recursos como plano de parto e grupo de gestantes não foram explorados efetivamente. Foi predominante o contentamento das puérperas quanto à resolução do cuidado. Conclusão: evidenciou-se a importância da aplicabilidade da Teoria de Peplau na assistência do enfermeiro no ciclo-gravídico puerperal para promover a autonomia das mulheres no processo terapêutico.

Objetivo: Identificar na literatura contribuições das residências em enfermagem obstétrica para a promoção da saúde da mulher. Método: Revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bases de dados Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Base de Dados em Enfermagem, Cumulative Index to Nursingand Allied Health Literature, SCOPUS e Web of Science. A avaliação do nível de evidência foi obtida por meio do método de MELNYK; FINEOUT-OVERHOLT. Os resultados incluídos envolvem 12 artigos publicados entre os anos de 2015 e 2021. Resultados: Dentre as principais contribuições da residência obstétrica para a promoção da saúde da mulher surgiram o cuidado humanizado, criação de vínculo, uso de métodos não invasivos e não farmacológicos promovidos por enfermeiros obstetras, empoderamento da mulher como protagonista e ressignificação do parto. Conclusão: A atuação da residência em enfermagem obstétrica contribui significativamente com a ampliação dos horizontes da prática do enfermeiro.

Objetivo: Identificar os domínios das competências essenciais de promoção da saúde do Competencies Health Promotion Project (CompHP) desenvolvidos na formação acadêmica de enfermagem ante a saúde LGBT. Método: Estudo descritivo e qualitativo desenvolvido em três Instituições de Ensino Superior do interior cearense do Brasil, entre julho e dezembro de 2020, com 84 acadêmico(a)s de enfermagem, por meio de questionário on-line. Os dados foram organizados mediante análise de conteúdo temática e analisados pelo aporte teórico metodológico CompHP. Quanto aos aspectos éticos, o estudo obteve parecer satisfatório. Resultados: A idade do(a)s acadêmico(a)s variou entre 21 e 47 anos, em sua maioria do sexo biológico feminino; mulheres cisgênero; heterossexuais; de universidades privadas e matriculado(a)s no nono semestre. Identificaram-se oito domínios do CompHP: Possiblidade de Mudanças; Advocacia em Saúde; Parceria; Comunicação; Liderança; Diagnóstico; Implementação e Avaliação e Pesquisa, sendo o domínio Planejamento não identificado. Os(as) estudantes conseguem identificar as demandas de promoção da saúde do público LGBT, no entanto, mesmo na presença dos domínios, mencionam a necessidade de maior discussão sobre a temática. Conclusão: Identificou-se a presença de oito dos nove domínios do CompHP na formação do(a)s acadêmico(a)s de enfermagem, o que sugere que esse(a)s possam atuar enquanto agentes promotores de saúde à população LGBT.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to map and synthesize nursing theories and conceptual frameworks that have been applied in the practice of nursing care for stroke patients in hospital settings. Methods: a scoping review was conducted in October 2022 using the MEDLINE (accessed via PubMed), CINAHL, Scielo, and Web of Science databases, following The Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines. Results: nine studies incorporated six nursing theories and three conceptual frameworks, which were employed to enhance stroke patient care. The objective of these theories and conceptual frameworks was to facilitate the identification of the patient’s psychobiological, psychosocial, and psychospiritual needs, elucidate the nurse’s role and expand their perspective on rehabilitation, and acknowledge the survivor’s process of transition. Final Considerations: this mapping exercise identified major nursing theories, middle-range theories, and conceptual frameworks applied to the care of stroke patients.

Introducción: Among the systems most affected by COVID-19, the renal system stands out, which leads to challenges in the management of nursing care for these patients. Objective: To describe the scientific evidence on nursing care management in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 undergoing Renal Replacement Therapy. Methodology: Articles were searched in PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, LILACS, BDENF, EMBASE, IBECS, CINAHL, COCHRANE LIBRARY, and Scielo databases, using the following cross-references: “renal therapy” AND “nursing care” AND “covid-19”. To systematize the searches, the Boolean operator “AND” was used. Initially, 167 primary references were identified in the selected databases/virtual library, and as a final sample, 14 articles were included. Results: It was found that among the contributions to nursing care management in hemodialysis patient care in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of health technologies (examples: use of telehealth and the development of new protocols), development of new methods in nursing care management and continuing education are described in the literature. These tools were essential for the continuity of nursing care. Conclusion: Among the tools used for nursing care management in the context of the pandemic of COVID-19 in hemodialysis patients, health technologies and continuing education in health are included, enabling qualified care management.

Objetivo: Clarificar o conceito de profissionalismo para o ensino de enfermagem. Métodos: Análise conceitual, por meio do método de Walker e Avant, identificando o uso do conceito nas bases Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE/PubMed®), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Índice Bibliográfico Español em Ciencias de la Salud (IBECS), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde(LILACS) e Banco de Dados de Enfermagem (BDENF), utilizando termos Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) “Professionalism”, “Teaching” e “Nursing”. Resultados: Após aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, selecionaram-se 18 artigos. Houve identificação dos atributos pela técnica de análise de conteúdo. Elaboraram-se casos modelo e contrário, com respectivo uso e não uso do conceito. Identificaram-se elementos antecedentes, atributos e consequentes. Como antecedentes: experiência, educação profissional, valores profissionais, socialização e formação positiva; como atributos: identidade profissional, atitude profissional, competência, domínio, ética, autonomia, papel profissional e comportamento profissional; e como consequentes: qualidade profissional, profissionais preparados, aquisição de habilidade, compromisso, autoconceito profissional e colocações práticas bem-sucedidas. Conclusão: Pode-se entender profissionalismo como conjuntura de qualidades que perpetuam o comportamento e o desempenho do papel profissional para o âmbito do ensino, como conhecimento, ética, atitude, domínio, autonomia e competência.

Abstract Objectives: to understand the experiences of women from Brazilian northeastern semi-arid in accessing obstetric care. Methods: qualitative research conducted by the methodological framework of ethnonursing, carried out with 13 key informants in a public maternity hospital located in the Cariri region of Ceará in the Brazilian Northeast semiarid. The Observation-Participation-Reflection enablers was adopted for data collection, with observations recorded in a field diary and individual interviews, such as "tell me about". The immersion process in the field lasted five months. The empirical material was submitted to procedures of the data analysis guide for ethno-nursing. Results: from the patterns that emerged empirically, three cultural themes became evident: "It has to be delivered in the hands of God": discursive constructions about prenatal care; "We stay in this endless coming and going": antepartum pilgrimage; "If I were rich, I wouldn't be here": attention received in accessing maternity. Conclusions: in the cultural scenario analyzed, women were inserted in the context of clinical and social weaknesses, violation of rights and dignity, resorting to divine designs in the face of difficulties in accessing obstetric services and pilgrimage to guarantee consultations, exams, and hospitalization for childbirth.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify factors associated with the sexual practices and positions performed by pregnant women. Methods: a cross-sectional, quantitative study conducted with 354 pregnant women, in the interior of Ceará, Brazil, in 2016. For data collection, a form and a Pregnancy Sexuality Questionnaire were used. ABSTRACT Objective: To verify the association between adherence to antiretroviral treatment by adults with HIV/AIDS and sociodemographic factors, social and clinical support. Methods: Cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach. Participation of 230 patients. Questionnaires of sociodemographic characterization, social and clinical support, and assessment of adherence to antiretroviral treatment were used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Results: Adherence was classified as good/adequate. An association with sex, income, employment, and level of education was noted. In social support: having access to health services; communication with health professionals; health education; having support to allow venting/talking about issues; information on HIV/AIDS; and company for leisure. In the clinical profile: non-interruption of the drug treatment due to absence from the service or due to changes in the medical prescription. Conclusion: Adherence was classified as good/adequate and especially associated with social support factors, which should be enhanced in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT Objective: to identify competencies related to health promotion targeting homebound older people, as they appear in the literature. Method: systematic review using the LILACS, Scopus, CINAHL, PubMed and Cochrane Library databases. The search was performed in November 2017. Selected articles were analyzed according to nine competency domains: enable change; advocate for health; mediate through partnership; communication; leadership; assessment; planning; implementation, and evaluation and research. Results: nine clinical trials were included. All health promotion competency domains were identified in the reviewed research interventions, performed with homebound older people. Conclusion: studies showed that the employed treatments were beneficial for the homebound older population. Interventions based on health promotion competencies were positively identified, and are linked to an effective and high-quality health care practice.

Objective to understand the daily work and access to health services of female sex workers.Methods qualitative research using the ethnographic method. Participant observation with record in a field journal, semi-structured interviews, and a form with sociodemographic data were used for the data collection. For data analysis, thematic analysis was associated to ethnography.Results four thematic categories emerged: insertion in prostitution; family relationships; suffering and illness; and access to health services.Conclusion the daily life of the women is marked by precarious working conditions and the search for health services to solve specific problems at their own initiative. The work routine in this context places women in situations of clinical and social fragility, exposing them to vulnerabilities in health.

Objetivo: descrever os cuidados domiciliares prestados por parteiras tradicionais durante a assistência ao parto. Método: estudo qualitativo conduzido por meio do método da História Oral Temática, realizado com 16 parteiras em nove municípios do Cariri cearense. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre julho e dezembro de 2015 por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, os relatos foram transcritos, textualizados e transcriados. Resultados: as parteiras prestavam cuidados familiares, assistência ao parto vaginal, cuidados com o recém-nascido e no puerpério imediato. Usavam chás e orações como adjuvantes do seu ofício. Conclusão: o cuidado das parteiras na assistência ao parto centralizava-se nas necessidades da mulher e da família, sendo, em alguns casos, extensivo à casa. As parteiras conheciam os sinais e sintomas do trabalho de parto e agiam nas possíveis intercorrências. ABSTRACT Objective: to describe home care provided by traditional midwives during childbirth care. Method: this qualitative study, using the Thematic Oral History method, was conducted with 16 midwives from nine municipalities in Cariri, Ceará. Data were collected from July to December 2015 through semi-structured interviews, the reports were transcribed, textualized and transcreated. Results: midwives provided family care, vaginal delivery care, newborn care and immediate postpartum care. They used teas and prayers as an adjuncts to their craft. Conclusion: childbirth care by midwives centered on the women’s and families’ needs and, in some cases, extended to the home. Midwives knew the signs and symptoms of labor and acted on possible complications. RESUMEN Objetivo: describir los cuidados domiciliarios brindados por parteras tradicionales durante la atención al parto. Método: estudio cualitativo conducido mediante el método de Historia Oral Temática, realizado con 16 parteras en nueve municipios de Cariri en Ceará. La recolección de datos se realizó entre julio y diciembre de 2015 a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas; los relatos fueron transcritos, textualizados y transcreados. Resultados: las parteras brindaron atención familiar, asistencia en el parto vaginal, cuidados al recién nacido y en el puerperio inmediato. Usaban tés y oraciones como complemento de su oficio. Conclusión: el cuidado de las parteras en la atención al parto se centraba en las necesidades de la mujer y de la familia, extendiéndose, en algunos casos, al hogar. Las parteras conocían los signos y síntomas del trabajo de parto y actuaban sobre las posibles complicaciones.

Objective: to analyze the health needs of people undergoing treatment for tuberculosis assisted by health services. Method: a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, carried out with ten patients assisted by the Family Health Strategy teams and a reference service. The interviews were submitted to the thematic analysis technique and analyzed according to the Operational Taxonomy of Health Needs. Results: the patients reported needs for food and housing, were satisfied with the treatment, accessibility and cordiality of the health professionals, but dissatisfied with the investigation symptoms and evolution of the clinical picture. The bond with the nurse was positive. Orientations and search for information subsidized the autonomy and the way of living life. Conclusion: patients recognized the health needs related to access to technologies that improve and prolong life, but require precise diagnostic investigation, guidance for autonomy and ordering Primary Health Care.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify the clinical and obstetric situation of pregnant women who required emergency care, considering the adequacy of their requirement. Methods: this is a cross-sectional study, developed in the headquarters of the Mobile Emergency Care Services from a state in the Brazilian Northeast, through the analysis of 558 reports of obstetric patients attended in 2016. The magnitude of the associations was expressed by odds ratio and confidence intervals, considering a 5% significance level. Results: more than half (50.9%) requirements for emergency care were from women who went into labor (non-expulsive), especially among third trimester pregnant women (p < 0.000). Most clinical and obstetric parameters were normal. Conclusions: the inadequate demands for emergency care services reflect the excessive medicalization of the gestational process and shows how important it is to discuss the physiological symptoms that involve pregnancy, so that a more egalitarian and efficient urgency service can be offered.

Abstract Objective: To characterize ethnographic research in the area of obstetric nursing regarding its theoretical, methodological and analytical aspects. Method: An integrative review performed in the MEDLINE®, LILACS, BDENF and CINAHL databases, as well as the SciELO virtual library. Results: Thirty (30) articles formed the analytical corpus after screening and reading the primary references in full. The most used methods were ethno-nursing, ethnography and institutional ethnography; the immersion time in the field ranged from 12 visits to 48 months occurring in institutional contexts. The main data collection techniques were observation, individual interviews and training guides for ethno-nursing. The data were organized as themes and subthemes, analyzed through the ethno-nursing analysis guide, implementing the Theory of Diversity and Universality of Cultural Care as theoretical reference. Conclusion: Ethnographic studies in the area of obstetric nursing are within the scope of microethnographies and are operationalized based on theoretical-methodological nursing references, being useful to analyze the complexity of phenomena involving obstetric nursing care, and focusing on the etic (professional) and emic (women) perspectives.

Objective: to understand the lifestyles of nursing students in the light of the Nola Pender’s Health Promotion Model. Methods: qualitative study conducted with 11 nursing students through a focus group using a semi-structured script. Two analytical categories were obtained: Individual characteristics and experiences; Feelings and knowledge about the behavior to be achieved. Results: the short time and poor quality of sleep, sedentary lifestyle and inadequate diet, which are related to the university routine, were reported by the academics as main factors that affect quality of life. Conclusion: the use of this model was important to identify the factors that affect the students’ lifestyles, biopsychosocial aspects and their correlations, demonstrating its relevance in pointing out the need for interventions that meet their reality.

Abstract Objective: To identify the key issues and health education strategies for the health promotion for the elderly. Method: An integrative literature review was conducted during the months of March and April 2018, by means of the Virtual Health Library, in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Latin American Literature in Health Sciences and the Scientific Electronic Library Online databases. After the search process and the selection of publications, the final sample consisted of 24 articles. Results: A total of 16 Brazilian articles, the majority of which were carried out in the southeast and south of the country, were identified, in which the most frequently expressed themes for the health education of the elderly were healthy eating and physical exercise practices. Conclusion: The actions of education in health were focused on healthy eating and physical activity, carried out by means of group workshops, seminars and/or lectures, performed, in the majority, by nurses and community health agents who were part of family health teams.
