We report the French experience with high risk pregnancies and fetal heart rate monitoring at home. Data were recorded for 376 patients who underwent obstetrical home monitoring from 1992 to 1997 (12,649 recordings). In comparison with data in the literature, our findings show this method is technically reliable. Telemonitoring of high risk pregnancies is as about as safe as traditional hospitalization. Perinatal mortality was not higher in high risk pregnancies followed with home monitoring. We this method, we achieved a lower number of hospitalization days and stays.

Waldman disease, also called intestinal lymphangiectasis, is a protein-loosing enteropathy caused by anomalous intestinal lymphatic canals. The condition is transmitted by autosomal dominant inheritance. Diet therapy including medium chain triglycerides improves the disease course. The condition occurs in early childhood. We report a case observed in a pregnant woman with intestinal lymphangiectasis. She delivered a full-term infant and experienced no major complications.

The authors report the results of a retrospective series concerning 121 patients who presented abnormal uterine bleeding resistant to progestogen therapy. These patients were adenomyosis carriers and who underwent loop endometrial ablation. Over a maximum period of 8 years, the success rate was 56% following one endometrial resection and 67% following one or two resections. The study recorded a repeat resection level of 11%. Seventeen hysterectomies (19%) were performed because of the recurrence of abnormal uterine bleeding. These results are comparable to those observed in endometrial ablation performed for menorrhagia, all benign etiology included. Adenomyosis does not appear to be a factor in the failure of endometrial ablation, except in the case of deep adenomyosis which is difficult to diagnose pre-operatively.
