The objective of this article is to investigate the income differential between return migrants and non-migrants in entrepreneurs or salaried occupations using the National Household Sample Survey (Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílio - PNAD) of 2015. For this purpose, the detailed decomposition of Oaxaca-Blinder and two-stage method were used to deal with the sample self-selection problem. The results suggest that migrant entrepreneurs in the short term and medium term earn 19% and 17% less than non-migrants in the same occupation, respectively. While the salaried workers in the short term and medium term earn 62% and 49% more than the non-migrant worker in the same occupation, respectively. The salaried remigrant would be positively selected in better unobserved productive attributes, while the entrepreneurial remigrant would be negatively selected and the engagement in entrepreneurship may have been by motivated by necessity.
