In this study, we develop a new paradigm, Circular Lean Six Sigma 4.0 (CLSS4.0) to promote manufacturing sustainability. This paper aims to provide a practical and holistic view of the drivers and barriers that can help companies design an integrated CLSS4.0 model. The paper is based on a qualitative exploratory study using multiple case studies within 12 Moroccan manufacturing firms conducted through semi-structured interviews with top executive managers. The results show that the drivers are related to expected operational and environmental performance, increasing customer requirements, gaining competitive advantage and market growth while barriers are related to insufficient tangible (finance, human and equipment) and intangible (skills and techniques) resources, data privacy, technical issues and management support. The proposed framework identifies the assessment of drivers and barriers and their attributes as a starting point for managers to lead the CLSS4.0 transformation, thereby contributing to its successful implementation. To the best of our knowledge, this study is among the very first studies to discuss the CLSS4.0 drivers and barriers. OBJECTIVE: Active patient involvement in promoting quality and safety is a priority for healthcare. We investigated how dental patients perceive their role as partners in promoting quality and safety across various dental care settings. METHODS: Focus group sessions were conducted at three dental practice settings: an academic dental center, a community dental clinic, and a large group private practice, from October 2018-July 2019. Patients were recruited through flyers or word-of-mouth invitations. Each session lasted 2.5 h and patients completed a demographic and informational survey at the beginning. Audio recordings were transcribed, and a hybrid thematic analysis was performed by two independent reviewers using Dedoose. RESULTS: Forty-seven participants took part in eight focus group sessions; 70.2% were females and 38.3% were aged 45-64 years. Results were organized into three major themes: patients overall perception of dental quality and safety; patients reaction to an adverse dental event; and patients role in promoting quality and safety. Dental patients were willing to participate in promoting quality and safety by careful provider selection, shared decision-making, self-advocacy, and providing post-treatment provider evaluations. Their reactions towards adverse dental events varied based on the type of dental practice setting. Some factors that influenced a patients overall perception of dental quality and safety included provider credentials, communication skills, cleanliness, and durability of dental treatment. CONCLUSION: The type of dental practice setting affected patients desire to work as partners in promoting dental quality and safety. Although patients acknowledged having an important role to play in their care, their willingness to participate depended on their relationship with their provider and their perception of provider receptivity to patient feedback.

IntroductionWe elicited Vietnamese Americans' perspectives on culturally appropriate recruitment into a new research registry: Collaborative Approach for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) Research and Education (CARE).MethodsThree focus groups were conducted with 21 Vietnamese Americans. Topics included knowledge about and experiences with research, outreach and recruitment methods for research participation and registry enrollment, and views about research incentives. Focus group transcripts were analyzed thematically.ResultsMean age of participants was 41 years (range 18-73), 57% were male, 86% were non-US born, and 81% had never participated in a research study. Themes that emerged included (1) motivations to participate in research to gain knowledge: for oneself, for family's benefit, and for the Vietnamese American community as a whole; (2) necessity of trustworthy and credible individuals/spokespersons to promote the research initiative; (3) recruitment strategies that are age-specific and culturally appropriate, and (4) importance of monetary incentives.ConclusionFindings from this study will be used to guide recruitment into and engagement with CARE among Vietnamese Americans but are also relevant for other registries aiming to diversify their participants.

Background: Parents play an important role in shaping youth's lifestyle behaviors. This study aimed to investigate physical activity parenting practices (PAPP) for Chinese early adolescents and compare reporting discrepancies between parents and adolescent boys and girls. Methods: Fifty-five adolescent–parent dyads participated in 16 paired focus group interviews, and an additional 122 dyads completed questionnaire surveys with open-ended questions. Participants were recruited from 3 public middle schools in Suzhou, China. Qualitative data were analyzed inductively using an open-coding scheme. Frequencies of codes were compared by parent–child role and adolescent gender using chi-square tests. Results: Eighteen types of PAPP were identified and grouped into 6 categories: goals/control, structure, parental physical activity participation, communication, support, and discipline. These PAPP were viewed as promotive, preventive, or ineffective. Participants had mixed opinions on the effects of 11 PAPP and identified parental, adolescent, and environmental barriers for parents to promote youth physical activity. Compared with parents, adolescents were more likely to value the effects of setting expectation, scheduling, and coparticipation as well as dislike pressuring, restriction, and punishment. Girls were more likely to favor coparticipation and were more sensitive about negative communication than boys. Parents paid more attention to environmental barriers, whereas adolescents, especially girls, focused more on personal issues. Conclusions: Future studies need to address both positive and negative PAPP as well as perception discrepancies by child–parent role and adolescent gender to generate more evidence to promote parents as favorable socialization agents of youth physical activity. ABSTRACT Aims Design Methods Findings Conclusion Clinical Evidence The aim of this study is to explore in‐depth the experiences of patients enrolled in Community Mental Health Centers regarding the illness process.This study employed interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), one of the phenomenological design approaches within qualitative research methods.The study was conducted between 24 May 2023 and 23 December 2023, at two different Community Mental Health Centers located in the eastern and western regions of Turkey. Maximum variation sampling was employed in the selection of the sample, which consisted of 12 patients registered at the Community Mental Health Centers. Data were collected using a semi‐structured interview form. The interviews were conducted face‐to‐face and audio‐recorded. Content analysis was performed using the MAXQDA 2022 software package. The study was written following the COREQ checklist.Based on the expressions of the patients, themes, subthemes and codes were identified. Accordingly, three themes were determined: ‘emotions felt after diagnosis’, ‘changes in life with the illness process’ and ‘coping methods with the process’.This study highlights that patients from diverse geographical backgrounds, served by Community Mental Health Centers, share similar cultural and emotional experiences during their illness. These findings underscore the need for tailored interventions that address universal challenges faced by patients across different regions.This research emphasises the necessity of comprehensive efforts to improve societal understanding, support mechanisms and employment prospects for individuals dealing with mental health issues in Community Mental Health Centers. ABSTRACT Virtual reality (VR) technology plays a significant role in nursing education by enhancing the quality of training by applying knowledge, decision‐making, intervention completion and feedback. This study aims to examine nursing students' experiences and perceptions regarding the ventrogluteal injection training provided through VR technology. Conducted between May and June 2022, this qualitative descriptive phenomenology study took place at a state university in Turkey, involving 70 students who participated in Ventrogluteal Drug Administration training using VR glasses. The sample included 12 students selected via the Criterion Sampling Method. Data collection tools comprised the ‘Descriptive Information Form’ and a ‘Semi‐Structured Questionnaire’. Qualitative data were analysed using the Content Analysis Method, while quantitative data were assessed through descriptive statistical methods (frequency, percentage, mean). The study identified 13 codes, four sub‐themes and two main themes from the students' evaluations. The first main theme, ‘Weaknesses of Virtual Simulation’, included two sub‐themes: ‘Due to its Nature’ and ‘Due to its Technique’, resulting in five codes. The second main theme, ‘Strengths of Virtual Simulation’, was divided into two sub‐themes: ‘Permanence, Integrity, and Applicability’ and ‘Emotions towards Virtual Simulation’, with eight codes identified. The findings indicate that students view VR technology positively in their education. However, they also highlighted specific issues related to the simulation's technique and inherent nature. Purpose: Cognitive fatigue is commonly reported and described as disabling by patients recovering from neurological conditions including stroke. However, cognitive fatigue is usually underdiagnosed among stroke survivors which leads to a lack of specific treatments for this condition. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore post-stroke cognitive fatigue as it is experienced by stroke survivors. Methods: This qualitative research followed the principles of descriptive phenomenology within a constructivist paradigm. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with stroke survivors experiencing post-stroke cognitive fatigue recruited through the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery, and social media posts. Data were analyzed through inductive content analysis. Results: Eleven stroke survivors participated. The analysis revealed five themes illustrating the experience and descriptions of post-stroke cognitive fatigue: (1) characteristics, (2) aggravating factors, (3) management, (4) effect of cognitive fatigue on daily life, and (5) social awareness and support. Conclusion: This study highlights the complexity of post-stroke cognitive fatigue. Cognitive fatigue becomes more evident after discharge; therefore, clinicians should consistently screen for it and provide proper education to the patients and their carers. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: Cognitive fatigue is a complex phenomenon that can negatively affect the daily life of stroke survivors. Sensory-overloaded environments, emotional distress, poor sleep, and engaging in complex cognitive tasks can trigger post-stroke cognitive fatigue. Background: women post-menopause, are faced with various physical, emotional, and relational challenges. One such aspect that tends to be overlooked is the impact of menopause on sexual well-being. This study aimed to elucidate the concept of enriching the sexual life of women post-menopause. Methods: A qualitative research strategy was adopted using a conventional content analysis approach. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews with 24 participants (17 women post-menopause and 7 experts), using purposive sampling. Results: The data analysis resulted in the extraction of 341 codes, 24 subcategories, and 8 categories. Ultimately, the following three themes emerged: “maintaining and enhancing the position of sexual relationships,” “deepening sexual relationships and expanding intimacy,” and “improving communication skills with the spouse “. Conclusion: Enriching the sexual life of women post-menopause, as suggested by the themes, involves nurturing their relationships, keeping these connections strong and valued, deepening intimacy, and promoting effective communication to ensure a fulfilling and enjoyable experience during this phase of life. Background: Delivering serious news is usually challenging for healthcare professionals and the pandemic of COVID-19 and related restrictions brought additional challenges in this process. Aims: To explore the experience of bereaved relatives with receiving serious news from healthcare professionals during the pandemic COVID-19. Design: A qualitative study using thematic analysis and a codebook approach of data collected in semi-structured interviews with bereaved relatives. Setting/participants: Data were collected from July to August 2022 in person/via phone with bereaved relatives who lost their relatives during the pandemic (from March 2020 to March 2022). Participants were recruited using a convenience sample and snowball method through social media and through one university hospital palliative care unit that invited bereaved relatives of deceased patients treated at the unit to participate in this study. Results: A total of 22 participants, consisting of 4 men and 18 women, were interviewed for this study. Most of the participants were sons or daughters of individuals who had died (5 grandchildren, 14 sons/daughters, 2 spouses, 1 great-niece). Six themes were identified: Burden caused by visit ban, Fear of COVID-19, Inappropriate behaviour and communication of healthcare professionals, High need for emotional support, Need for detailed and honest communication, Tendency to make excuses for mistakes and lapses by healthcare professionals. Conclusions: Delivering serious news during a pandemic was negatively influenced by a lack of contact with patients and a lack of support and empathetic communication with staff. Overcoming these circumstances can be achieved by frequent communication using various communication tools (such as videoconferences or phone calls), and maintaining empathy and honesty in the communication process. Key message: This article describes results from a qualitative study with bereaved relatives focused on their experience with communication with physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Relatives lacked empathetic communication, they also experienced fear of getting infected and they tended to express understanding for the challenging circumstances faced by the healthcare staff. Background: Nurses, as the main healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, were at high risk of contracting the disease. Family caregivers played a vital role in the support and recovery of patients with COVID-19. The experiences of family caregivers of nurses are very important due to the nature of their job. However, little information is available in this field. To this end, the present study aimed to explore the experiences of family caregivers of nurses who recovered from COVID-19. Methods: This descriptive qualitative study was conducted in one of the hospitals in southeastern Iran in 2022. The participants were 12 family caregivers of nurses who recovered from COVID-19 and were selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using conventional content analysis. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative research checklist was used to report the findings. Results: The analysis of the data revealed psychosocial consequences as main theme, three categories and nine subcategories including negative emotions and attitudes (fear of deterioration/death, fear of frequent infection, fear of transmitting infection to others, despair of recovery, Changing attitudes toward the nursing profession), caregiver burden (role conflict, economic pressure) and lack of support, ineffective interactions and isolation (Lack of support from nursing managers and colleagues, ineffective interactions and isolation). Conclusion: Like other caregivers, family caregivers of nurses recovered from COVID-19 experienced psychosocial consequences and a heavy burden of responsibility. However, what differentiates our findings from the results reported in previous studies is the change in caregivers' attitudes toward nursing and regret for their family members being nurses. The lack of support from medical staff and managers for nurses, the condition of nurses frequently contracting COVID-19 due to the nature of their profession, and the fear of transmitting the infection to others due to contact with COVID-19 patients in the workplace expose these caregivers to additional stress and many risks. Background: Having traditionally received limited attention in empirical research and safety improvement agendas, issues of patient safety in mental healthcare increasingly feature in healthcare quality improvement discourses. Dominant approaches to safety stem from narrow clinical risk management perspectives, yet existing evidence points to the limitations of this characterisation. Although mental healthcare is increasingly delivered in community-based settings, narratives of safety pertain primarily to hospital-based mental healthcare. Therefore, through exploratory qualitative interviews and one focus group, we aimed to examine how service users, carers, and healthcare providers conceptualise 'patient safety' in community-based mental healthcare. Methods: Semi-structured interviews and a single focus group were conducted with users of UK community-based mental healthcare provision for adults (n = 13), their carers (n = 12), and providers (n = 18), who were diverse in characteristics and experiences. Study data were analysed in accordance with a reflexive approach to thematic analysis. Findings: Four key themes were developed, reflecting contrasting conceptualisations of safety in this care context, where participant thinking evolved throughout discussions. 'Systemic inertia: threats to safety' characterises the entrenched, systemic challenges which rendered participants powerless to advocate for or deliver safe care. 'Managing the risks service users present' equates 'safe care' to the mitigation of risks service users may pose to themselves or others when unwell, or risks from those around them. 'More than responding to risks: everyone plays a role in creating safety' recognises providers' agency in causing or proactively preventing patient harm. Finally, 'The goals of 'safety': our destination is not yet in sight' positions safety as a work in progress, calling for ambitious safety agendas, giving primacy to goals which meaningfully improve service users' lives. Conclusions: Our findings have implications for the understanding and improvement of patient safety in community-based mental healthcare settings, where improvement objectives should transcend beyond management of risks and preventing deterioration to address patient and carer-centred concerns, including practices that make people feel unsafe. Aim: The purpose of this study was to explore Muslim's perceptions and views of raising awareness on safe alcohol use and counterfeit alcohol harms in Islamic countries. Subject and methods: Qualitative semi-structured interviews with a purposive sample from the Gulf Council Cooperation (GCC) countries. The data were analysed using a reflexive thematic analysis method. Results: Twenty-three participants took part in this study. We have identified five themes from the data, including perceptions on alcohol use in the GCC, community's openness to alcohol discussions, approaches to raising awareness on alcohol use, all forbidden is desirable, and legalisation is the solution. All participants acknowledged the existence of alcohol use in GCC communities and advocated for the need to raise public awareness about the harms of alcohol use. Opinions on approaches to raising awareness varied. Some participants suggested focusing awareness on the religious messages prohibiting alcohol use, emphasising that alcohol is harmful in any quantity. For some, raising awareness of safe alcohol consumption was viewed as accepting and encouraging alcohol use, which goes against Islamic religious beliefs. Some participants attributed alcohol misuse and the consumption of counterfeit alcohol to the ban on alcohol products in some GCC countries. Conclusions: Muslims acknowledge the existence of alcohol use in Muslim communities, yet there is a hesitancy in raising awareness of safe alcohol use. Although challenging, there is a need to combine the public health perspective on safe alcohol use while providing messages that acknowledge the religious aspect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This forces them to consider whether to disclose or conceal their illness. This article analyses young adults’ disclosure strategies and links them to peers’ understanding of illness.The explorative study is based on episodic interviews with sixty young adults living with chronic illnesses (type 1 diabetes, cancer, chronic inflammatory bowel disease or a rare disease) and thirty peers. The interviews were thematically coded. The young adults’ statements were compared to the peer perspectives on a case-by-case basis.We identified three groups of young adults: 1) those who are generally open with peers about their illness and its subjective meaning; 2) those who share selected health-related information’s with selected peers; 3) those who refrain from active disclosure and are unsure how they might talk about their illness when it becomes apparent. The first Australian Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Clinical Care Standard was introduced in 2021, aiming to standardize practice. However, a recent national survey revealed a lack of adherence to the Standard among emergency department clinicians.A qualitative descriptive study.The study was conducted across two Australian emergency departments in 2023. Utilizing purposive sampling, semi‐structured interviews were conducted. The analysis incorporated both deductive and inductive approaches, mapping the findings to the BCW.Interviews with 25 nurses and doctors revealed nine key subthemes. The main barriers were the stressful environment, insufficient education and training, and the absence of a feedback mechanism. The main facilitators were recognition of suboptimal practice, belief in the importance of patient engagement, and the desire to improve practice.Multiple complex factors have an impact on clinicians' adherence to the Standard. The identified interventions will serve as a guide for future implementation of the Standard.The findings inform healthcare organizations of the significance of implementing strategies to enhance clinicians' acceptance of the Standard. This study explored the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality as they pertain to experiences of Asian American female sexual minority (AAFSM) students attending Midwestern universities in the United States through an intersectional lens. The study utilized intersectionality as a theoretical framework, a data generation tool, and a methodological approach to guide the study. The results showed that the participants experienced constructed objectifications, which included gendered, racial, and sexual objectification. The findings also revealed that participants' race, gender, and sexual orientation were contextualized based on the situation. Further, participants devalued their Asianness, womanhood, and LGBTQness owing to the lack of positive representation in the curriculum. The analyzed data can be best categorized as the lack of intersectional representations in curricula, contextualized race, gender, and sexuality, and reported experiences of constructed objectifications. Discussions provided an inclusive campus environment for participants who were AAFSMs. These discussions also provided meaningful suggestions for educators, administrators, policymakers, and stakeholders to foster an equal and equitable educational environment for students with multiple marginalized identities. This study explores the views of foster families and social workers, and often-overlooked parents of foster children on the benefits and drawbacks of visits. It also values changes in families’ perspectives after participating in a positive parenting program to improve visits quality. Findings from pre-post- semi-structured interviews revealed little progress in defining contact arrangements on a case-by-case basis and in engaging families in visits preparation. Comparison of the data collected rendered a more favorable appraisal of the visits after the intervention. Background: General hospitals in China have been establishing General Practice Departments (GPD). Although General Practice Nurses (GPNs) are an important part of this medical system, their training has not been synchronised. This study explored the working status of nurses in GPDs in general hospitals in Beijing to provide a theoretical basis for the training and development of GPNs in China. Methods: We conducted in-depth, individual interviews with outpatient nurses at 19 hospitals in Beijing between March and April 2021. We employed a qualitative analysis to interpret participant narratives and used a codebook thematic analysis to analyse the interview data and extract themes. Results: The analysis revealed four themes: (i) a lack of full-time GPNs in GPDs of most tertiary hospitals, (ii) the inability of GPNs to fully express their potential and skills owing to their limited roles, (iii) insufficient standardised patient education provided by nurses in GPDs, and (iv) a lack of systematic and relevant training for nurses working in general practice settings. Conclusions: To promote the development of GPNs, GPDs in general hospitals in China should hire full-time GPNs, define their job duties in alignment with their values, and provide standardised training to strengthen their core competencies. Background: Developmental breast asymmetry (DBA) is a largely underreported condition where the natural growth of one breast is smaller than the other. While some degree of asymmetry or difference in size and shape is present in most women, DBA can result in more profound differences that can impact a woman's psychosocial well-being. Objectives: This study aims to better understand the experiences of women living with DBA, their experiences seeking treatment, and their reconstructive surgical journey and outcomes. Design: This was a qualitative study involving in-depth, one-on-one semi-structured interviews with women diagnosed with DBA. Methods: Participants were women seeking treatment for DBA through the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit at Flinders Medical Centre, a tertiary healthcare centre in Adelaide, South Australia. Interviews were recorded digitally, transcribed verbatim and analysed thematically. Results: Fourteen interviews were conducted with 14 women; 13 women had completed their reconstruction and 1 was undergoing reconstruction at the time of their interview. Interviews highlighted the significant psychosocial impact of DBA, the different experiences in seeking help for DBA, the information received or lack thereof, the need for medical and social support throughout the surgical process, and the varied satisfaction with surgical outcomes. Conclusion: This study highlighted the subjective experiences of women who have grown up with DBA, improving our understanding of the significant psychosocial impact of DBA. Not all participants experienced post-operative improvements in psychosocial well-being due to surgical complications or unmet expectations. Background and objectives: Medical students experience different types of challenges during their MD program, which become more challenging when it comes to the internship, putting too much pressure on them. This study aimed to explore the challenges of medical interns of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS), Shiraz, Iran. Methods: In this qualitative research, which was conducted from September 2023 March 2024, medical interns of SUMS were selected using purposeful sampling method. The data were collected through deep and semi-structured interviews, and it was continued until data saturation was achieved. The data analysis was performed through thematic content analysis. Results: A total of 13 participants (6 men and 7 women) with a mean ± SD age of 25 ± 1.6 years were interviewed. The challenges of medical interns consisted of 423 meaning units, 79 open codes, 14 subthemes, and 6 main themes; the main themes consisted of educational challenges, challenges following university regulations, health and behavioral issues, economic/employment-related issues, sociocultural and recreational challenges, and ethical issues. Background: Accurate post-disaster damage and loss assessment is critical for the success of subsequent recovery programs. A comprehensive and systematic damage and loss assessment process involves evaluating the physical damage and financial impact of an event on individuals, communities, and assets. To ensure effective recovery, the various components and entities included in the program must be developed appropriately and efficiently. This study aimed to identify the components and entities of the Iranian healthcare sector's post-disaster damage and loss assessment program. Methods: A qualitative study employing purposive sampling and semi-structured individual interviews was conducted with 18 participants between October 2022 and July 2023, with continuing until data saturation was achieved. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews and observational notes with experts, including representatives from the National Disaster Management Organization (NDMO), the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and the Disaster Risk Management Department of the Ministry of Health and Medical Sciences Universities. The interviews were conducted in the workplace of the participants. Thematic analysis, a conventional qualitative method, was employed for the analysis of the data. Following the transcription of the recorded interviews, the initial codes were extracted, reviewed for accuracy, and classified. Results: The results of this study are based on the insights and experiences of a diverse group of qualified experts in their respective fields. The findings were analysed and classification into ten main themes, 29 sub-themes, and 1,058 codes. The main themes were key concepts and principles of assessment; assessment stages; health system measures in assessment; roles and responsibilities; team composition; information and communication; coordination and collaboration; data collection and analysis; assessment tools and methods; and reporting, documentation, and recommendations. Conclusion: An understanding of key concepts and principles enables stakeholders to respond effectively to disasters, make informed decisions, and facilitate recovery and reconstruction efforts. Background: Healthcare professionals (HCPs) play a significant role in the decision-making process of pregnant women on maternal vaccinations. Whereas a high proportion of HCPs discuss maternal vaccinations with pregnant women, confidence in discussing maternal vaccinations is lacking and HCPs experience inadequate training to discuss maternal vaccinations with pregnant women. Furthermore, different practical barriers might influence the consultation process, such as lack of time. More studies on the barriers, as well as facilitators, to discussing maternal vaccinations is needed and will help us to better understand and support HCPs in discussing maternal vaccinations. Methods: This qualitative study involved semi-structured interviews with fourteen HCPs working as midwives or gynaecologists in the Netherlands. An integrated theoretical approach was used to inform data collection and analysis. Thematic analysis was conducted using inductive and deductive approaches. This study followed the COnsolidated criteria for REporting Qualitative research (COREQ) guidelines. Results: The thematic analysis of the data pointed to the following five themes of HCP counselling: the consultation process, attitude, perceived norm, perceived control and improvement ideas. Most HCPs follow a similar approach in maternal pertussis vaccination consultations, beginning by assessing clients' understanding, providing basic information, and addressing questions. However, consultation timing and prioritization vary among HCPs. Challenges in consultations include client requests for clear advice, with HCPs trained to remain neutral, emphasizing client autonomy in decision-making. Most HCPs acknowledge the importance of their consultations in informing pregnant women about maternal pertussis vaccination. Conclusions: This study offers a confirmation of the awareness of the pivotal role of HCPs in informing pregnant women about the maternal pertussis vaccination. HCPs stress the importance of neutral counselling, enabling pregnant women to make well-informed decisions independently. Because of upcoming vaccine hesitancy nowadays, HCPs must be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to navigate difficult conversations. Continuous education and training might help to increase HCPs' confidence in handling difficult consultations. Additionally, making the information materials for pregnant women available in multiple languages and incorporating more visuals to enhance comprehension could support HCPs in reaching a broader group of pregnant women. ABSTRACT Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is often perceived as being more common in females, since women are more likely to seek help and be diagnosed. However, epidemiological studies have reported no sex differences in community prevalence. The purpose of this study was to learn from the narrative journeys of men who have received a diagnosis of BPD. Eight men participated, mean age 45.9 years (range 27–73 years). Recruitment was through clinician referrals at the study site and via social media and website advertising. Participants consented to a 60–90‐min semi‐structured interview via an audio‐visual digital platform. Audio recordings were transcribed and analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Three themes were identified: (i) The Emergence of Symptoms, (ii) Reaching Crisis Point and (iii) Receiving a Diagnosis. Participants reported many adverse experiences during childhood and adolescence. Early symptoms were often exacerbated by emotionally invalidating caregiving. Participants reported seeking mental health support only after reaching a crisis point, which often arose following an employment‐related stressor. Participants typically initiated help‐seeking by consulting a General Practitioner. Long delays were reported from initial help‐seeking to being diagnosed with BPD; all expressed relief upon diagnosis. The findings highlight the deleterious consequences of emotional invalidation in participants' mental health and their capacity to access timely support. General Practitioners play a critical role in identifying probable symptoms of BPD in men and are the gateway to referral to psychiatrists and psychologists. Background Methods Results Conclusion In the wake of an increasingly ageing population, Norway has a growing need for healthcare workers, especially in nursing homes. This study explored the employment experiences of migrant nursing assistants working in elderly care in Norway.A qualitative interview‐based study was carried out between March and August 2020. In‐depth, semi‐structured interviews were performed with 13 purposively selected immigrant nursing assistants working in a nursing home within Western Norway. Data were thematically analysed.Migrant nursing assistants working in Norwegian elderly care faced mixed experiences. On the one hand, study participants experienced several barriers in their workplace, resulting from insufficient command of the Norwegian language, heavy workload and mistreatment and discrimination by both patients and colleagues. On the other hand, participants cited the financial compensation from work, the meaningfulness derived from helping others and the flexible day‐off requests as workplace facilitators. Participants also made continuous efforts to learn the Norwegian language and to build good relations with their co‐workers.There is a need to enhance migrant nursing assistants' positive experiences in the Norwegian eldercare sector by making targeted workplace reforms and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Background: Available data suggest that general practitioners (GPs) in Germany use complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modalities more frequently than GPs in many other countries. We investigated the country differences perceived by general practitioners who have worked in Germany and in one of four other European countries with regard to the role of complementary and alternative treatments in primary care. Methods: In this qualitative study we conducted semi-structured interviews with 12 GPs who had worked both in Germany and Italy, the Netherlands, Norway or the United Kingdom (UK; n = 3 for each of the four countries). Participants were asked how they perceived and experienced country differences regarding health system, relevance of CAM modalities, the role of evidence-based medicine (EBM) and science, and how they handle so-called indeterminate situations. For the analysis, we followed a thematic analysis approach according to Braun and Clarke with focus on themes that cover CAM. Results: Participants unanimously reported that they perceived CAM to be more relevant in general practice in Germany compared to the other countries. We identified four overarching themes in relation to the perceived reasons for these differences. Firstly, physicians with experiences in countries with a strong EBM and science orientation (Netherlands, Norway and the UK) considered the deeply ingrained view in national healthcare systems and GP communities that CAM modalities are not evidence-based as the main reason for the lower use of CAM by GPs. Secondly, extensive training of communication skills was cited as a reason that reduced the need for CAM in the Netherlands, Norway and the UK. Thirdly, differences in patient expectations and demands were perceived as a factor contributing to greater utilisation of CAM by German GPs compared to the other countries. Finally, country-specific reimbursement mechanisms were considered as a factor influencing the role of CAM in general practice. Conclusions: The study results point to major differences between countries with regard to the role of CAM in GP care. Objective: The aim of this study is to gain insight into the facilitators, barriers, and support needs of Dutch self-employed workers when returning to work (RTW) after sick leave. Methods: Three focus groups were conducted, involving 15 Dutch self-employed workers who were on sick leave due to health problems. The transcripts were analyzed through thematic content analysis. Results: Five main themes regarding barriers, facilitators, and needs of self-employed workers to RTW were identified: autonomy, social support, client management, financial security, and information on sick leave. Having autonomy was considered a facilitator for RTW. However, the participants expressed a need formore financial support, additional guidance from occupational health professionals, and tailored information regarding RTW. Background : Tractors and quad bikes pose a significant risk of fatal injuries among farmers, particularly affecting older farmers. This study aimed to explore the barriers and facilitators to the adoption of machine related safety behaviors among older farmers in Irish farm settings. Method: Four focus groups were conducted via Zoom in February 2021. Nineteen Irish farmers from four farm types participated. The discussions were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using an inductive, reflexive thematic analysis approach. The themes identified were then mapped to the COM-B (Capability-Opportunity-Motivation) model, providing a systematic theoretical basis for designing a future intervention to reduce machine-related accidents. Results: The analysis identified five inductive themes that encompassed both barriers and facilitators in farm safety practices: (1) Capability to manage competing responsibilities; (2) Characteristics of the farm and its work environment; (3) Availability and affordability of resources; (4) Prevailing sociocultural opportunities; and (5) Perceived likelihood and cost-benefit analysis in safety decision-making. These themes captured the complex interplay of capability, opportunity, and motivation in farmers' decision-making processes. The study also revealed limitations in existing interventions, such as voluntary guidelines and educational methods, in effectively addressing these barriers. Conclusions: Farmers' abilities (capability), prevailing sociocultural factors, resource availability (opportunity), and their perceived consequences and benefits (motivation) affect how safely they work with machines. The study emphasizes the need for comprehensive, theory-driven approaches that consider the interplay of capability, opportunity, and motivational factors that may support or impede machine safety. Understanding the challenges faced by Irish farmers highlights potential strategies for safety intervention, and these strategies should be co-designed with farmers and attentive to the local context. Practical applications: The study provides a template for understanding farmers' perspectives using the COM-B model. Background: Healthcare professionals (HCPs) face a myriad of ethical challenges during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. However, there is limited literature examining the ethical challenges faced by HCPs in low- and medium-income countries. The research was designed to explore the ethical challenges experienced by HCPs in a Malaysian hospital setting during the pandemic. Methods: Semistructured interviews were conducted via video calls with 10 Malaysian HCPs across different clinical disciplines involved in managing patients diagnosed with COVID-19 infections. The calls were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim and checked. Thematic analysis with constant comparison across transcripts was carried out to identify categories and themes. Results: Three main themes emerged. Firstly, there was deprioritisation of care for non-COVID-19 patients resulting from resource limitations. HCPs raised concerns that there was curtailed access to various healthcare services by non-COVID-19 patients. There was also a trade-off between protecting individual patient safety and public health interests. Secondly, patients were disempowered from decision-making; the decision to segregate suspected COVID-19 patients to high-risk areas without seeking patients' approval may result in an increased risk of infection. Lastly, HCPs expressed internal conflicts when balancing the professional duty of care against concerns about contracting COVID-19 and spreading it to their family members. Conclusion: The study highlighted ethical issues faced by HCPs in Malaysia during the pandemic. Objective: To explore their perceptions and attitudes toward condom use and the underlying reasons for the low usage frequency among Chinese older adults. Methods: A qualitative study design utilizing interpretive phenomenological analysis was employed. Data were collected through field observation and face‐to‐face in‐depth interviews among older adults aged 50 years or above and having engaged in sexual activities within the previous year. Results: Three main themes emerged: perceiving unnecessary due to misconceptions and low awareness, interactive stereotypes rooted in sociocultural beliefs, and stigmatized social norms including gender inequity and economic unbalance. Conclusions: Tailored interventions focusing on addressing misconceptions, increasing awareness, and reducing culturally ingrained stereotypes and stigma surrounding condom use are essential to promote condom use among older adults in order to prevent HIV transmission in China. Objectives: This qualitative study aimed to comprehend the psychological well-beings and available interventions of current Chinese infertile patients, as well as investigate more integrated and effective patient support interventions, if necessary. Background: It is well known that infertility is a difficult struggle. Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) provide patients with the hope of having a child, but they also cause them pain and stress. There is a dearth of research on the mental health of infertile patients, particularly in developing nations such as China. Method: Individual interviews were conducted with eight experienced clinicians at the Reproductive Medicine Center from five different hospitals. On the basis of the grounded theory, interviews were transcribed and recursively analysed with the NVivo 12 Plus software by a research team. Results: 73 categories were created, which were then grouped into 12 subthemes that were combined to form the following themes: Theme I: Psychological Distress; Theme II: Sources of Distress; Theme III: Protective Factors; and Theme IV: Interventions. Conclusions: The themes of subjective experience identified in the study reveal infertile patients' emotional disturbance and resources of distress, consistent with previous related studies. Despite limitations such as the relatively small number of participants and the exclusively self-report nature of qualitative study, the findings of the study imply the importance of emotional and physical support networks for infertile patients at Reproductive Medicine Centers, consistency of psychological awareness and adequate professional supports. Objective: To explore how clients in psychodynamic or psychoanalytic psychotherapy, conducted in the traditional in-person setting, experience the transitions in time and space between psychotherapy sessions and everyday life. Method: Twelve semi-structured interviews were analyzed with inductive experiential thematic analysis, focusing on how the participants experience and make sense of the phenomenon in focus. Results: The participants described therapy as a sheltered space where they could be open, vulnerable, receptive, and present. Approaching and leaving psychotherapy sessions, the participants established different behavioral patterns and routines dealing with their anxieties and resistances. In this in-between area, the participants could handle interconnections and differences between therapy and everyday life. Participants stressed the clinical impact of transitions: transitions affect both therapy and everyday life; disturbed transitions have an adverse impact; transitions are insufficiently addressed in therapy. Conclusion: Transitions between therapy and life appear to be an essential but seldom recognized part of the therapy process beyond the borders of therapy sessions. It is assumed that many adolescent gamers who play intensively are highly engaged rather than problematic gamers and that they mostly do not experience negative consequences. This study aimed to explore how highly engaged adolescent gamers integrate gaming into their lives, how they experience gaming motivation, and how they view the effects that gaming has on them. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 37 adolescent gamers who played intensively and attended high schools. The interviews were analysed with thematic analysis and two main themes were extracted from the data: The integration of games into one's life and What drives adolescent gamers to play. Adolescent gamers were found to be active integrators of gaming into their lives, mostly managing to balance gaming with other daily activities and tasks. Although a few of them experienced problematic gaming, they managed to recover, and were generally aware of the dangers. Gaming was purposeful and useful for them, for example for socialising, competition, learning English, becoming more 'tech-savvy', and coping with everyday stress. However, it was important for them to engage in other purposeful activities in addition to gaming and not to use gaming as an exclusive coping tool. Background: With frequent conflicts, natural disasters, and public health emergencies globally, mobile medical teams (MMTs) are becoming increasingly critical. Importantly, the competency of critical care nurses in MMTs can substantially affect the effectiveness and quality of its rescue efforts. Yet, these nurses' competencies are not well understood. Aim: This study examined the competencies of critical care nurses in MMTs using the Onion Model. Study Design: A qualitative descriptive method was used to describe the competencies of Chinese MMT critical care nurses. From April to May 2022, a convenience sample of 18 participants (14 critical care nurses and 4 surgeons) from 10 MMTs was recruited for semi‐structured interviews. Deductive and inductive coding methods were combined for content analysis. Results: In total, 29 competencies were identified, which were grouped into four major domains using the Onion Model. From the outer to inner layers, these domains were knowledge and skills, professional abilities, professional quality, and personal traits. Several novel competencies emerged, including field medical equipment operation skills, on‐site hazard identification and safety prevention skills, triage knowledge, and field survival skills. Conclusions: Using the Onion Model, this study furthers the understanding of the competency of critical care nurses in MMTs, especially by revealing the novel competencies. Further, the results can be used to recruit, evaluate, and train critical care nurses for MMTs. Relevance to Clinical Practice: Understanding MMT critical care nurses' competencies can help managers plan and provide relevant training and education before deployment, which can improve nurses' performance, and especially reduce the mortalities and disabilities from trauma. Purpose: The patient-centered communication principles in Western countries are widely esteemed. In Eastern countries, a family-centered approach to medical decision-making is preferred. However, the predicaments faced by attending physicians and their coping strategies in the process of truth-telling about cancer are unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to understand attending physicians’ predicaments and coping strategies in implementing truth-telling for cancer in Taiwan. Methods: This study used a qualitative description approach to conduct in-depth interviews with attending physicians. Data were collected from two medical centers in Taiwan. Purposive sampling was also conducted. A total of 17 attending physicians participated in individual semi-structured interviews. All interviews were audio recorded and transcribed verbatim. Inductive content analysis was used to analyze and develop the subcategories, generic categories, and main categories. Results: Four main categories emerged: (1) Causing harm to the patient: Family members’ cooperation is needed. (2) Family members’ request to conceal the truth: Physicians should judge based on the patient’s disease condition. (3) Delayed treatment: Physicians should prioritize establishing confidence. (4) Delivering bad news about relapse: Physicians have different coping strategies. Conclusion: Physicians in Taiwan face challenges but prioritize family-centered care despite having coping strategies to protect patients. When faced with a scenario in which family members request concealment of truth, most physicians cooperate with them to determine the level and method of disclosing unfavorable news to patients. Aims: To explore how parents experienced their child with delirium and how parents viewed our delirium management bundle. Design: We conducted a qualitative exploratory descriptive study using semi‐structured individual or dyad interviews. Methods: Twelve semi‐structured interviews with 16 parents of 12 critically ill children diagnosed with delirium in a paediatric intensive care unit were conducted from October 2022 to January 2023 and analysed through a reflexive thematic analysis. Findings: We generated five themes: (1) knowing that something is very wrong, (2) observing manifest changes in the child, (3) experiencing fear of long‐term consequences, (4) adding insight to the bundle, and (5) family engagement. Conclusion: The parents in our study were able to observe subtle and manifest changes in their child with delirium. This caused fear of lasting impact. The parents regarded most of the interventions in the delirium management bundle as relevant but needed individualization in the application. The parents requested more information regarding delirium and a higher level of parent engagement in the care of their child during delirium. Impact: This paper contributes to understanding how parents might experience delirium in their critically ill child, how our delirium management bundle was received by the parents, and their suggestions for improvement. Our study deals with critically ill children with delirium, their parents, and staff working to prevent and manage paediatric delirium (PD) in the paediatric intensive care unit. Reporting Method: The consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research guidelines were used to ensure the transparency of our reporting. Prior studies on Japanese parents raising children with developmental disorders have predominantly emphasized negative psychological aspects like parenting conflicts and challenges. Purpose of this study was to construct a conceptual model to aid mothers in parenting children with developmental disorders by identifying effective parenting strategies. In this qualitative study, participants were mothers who engaged in a home program through individual outpatient occupational therapy. Therapy sessions occurred biweekly, totaling 12 sessions, each lasting 40 min. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews, and the data were analyzed through the Modified Grounded Theory Approach. Analysis of mothers' narratives revealed heightened physical burden, psychological distress, severe stress, and social isolation. Our findings highlight those mothers who engaged in the home program navigated the intricate parenting landscape through problem-solving, including managing negative emotions, their demanding schedules, and societal norms. This study offers insights into the perceptions, experiences, and behaviors of families in supporting the development of parenting strategies within the family. Occupational therapy should prioritize evaluating a mother's parenting context and her interactions with her environment. The aim of this qualitative study, nested in a randomized controlled trial, was to assess the mechanisms of the effects in both arms through examining perceptions of the participants about changes in their drinking behavior and their attributions for any perceived changes. We conducted semi-structured interviews with a sub-sample of trial participants. We used thematic analysis to analyze the data. Self-perceived change, mostly positive, was reported regardless of the objectively measured remission status. Participating in the trial itself was a major catalyst for change. Participants in both arms used a variety of similar strategies to make these changes; additionally, for those who received the intervention, both the style of the counselor (for example, the non-judgmental stance) as well as specific elements of the intervention were seen to influence change in drinking behavior. Absence of self-reported change was relatively uncommon and primarily related to the felt need for alcohol (e.g., drinking was perceived to be necessary to maintain good health), or the belief that one did not need to or want to change. Experiences of participating in a trial, the counselor style, and specific elements of a brief psychological treatment, play a role in influencing change in harmful drinking behaviors. • Positive change may be reported in the absence of objectively measured remission. • Trial procedures themselves become a major catalyst for modifying drinking behaviors. • Counselor style and specific elements of the intervention influence change in drinking. Preschool is a particularly opportune time to introduce measures that promote parental school-based involvement, as this is when the initial contact with the school is made. In Québec, a French-speaking province in Canada, voluntary school-based preschools for 4-year-olds have been offered to families in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. A component for parents comprised of 10 activities was developed specifically to promote parent involvement from the beginning of their child's schooling. However, some parents are more likely than others to encounter barriers that curtail their participation in these activities. Seventeen teachers working in preschools for 4-year-olds in targeted areas and 25 of their parents participated in this qualitative study. The study's objective was to identify the barriers to participation among parents whose involvement in school activities during the school year was low. Based on Hornby and Lafaele's conceptual model, a phronetic iterative analysis was used to describe the experiences reported by teachers and parents. Background: The rationale for screening for cardiovascular disease (CVD) is debated as a prevention strategy. However, research shows that when preventive medication is initiated after screening for CVD, mortality rates decrease, especially among men. When implementing screening programmes, facilitating citizens' informed decisions and empowering their autonomy in the decision‐making process are crucial. We therefore aimed to explore citizens' perspectives on and decisions regarding initiating cardiovascular preventive medication for screen‐detected CVD. Methods: We employed an exploratory qualitative design using semi‐structured interviews to investigate participants' perspectives on and decisions regarding initiating cardiovascular preventive medication for screen‐detected CVD. Twelve interviews were conducted and analysed using thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke's six‐step approach. Findings: We found one overall theme, Being on a continuum between wellness and illness, with two underlying sub‐themes. Sub‐theme (1) Navigating mixed feelings and pathways reflects participants' perspectives on CVD preventive medication, which were positioned on a continuum with shifting perspectives. The state between wellness and illness was experienced as liminal and characterised by uncertainty and concerns about CVD risk. (2) Navigating medication decisions: a negotiated process. Pivotal medical decisions hinged on trust in authorities or own judgement, influenced by attitudes towards the need for medication, perception of meaningfulness, asymptomatic condition, age, family responsibility and predisposition. Participants' medical decisions were supported and impacted by significant others. Conclusion: We uncovered a continuum of shifting perspectives ranging from feeling improved health to experiencing fear of CVD. For certain citizens, it is like navigating between these contrasting feelings. The perceived necessity and meaningfulness, in particular, shape medical decisions. Providing support for informed decisions is crucial and includes significant others. Shared decision‐making with healthcare professionals as facilitators is needed. Background: Disease‐related malnutrition is prevalent among hospitalised patients, but not all patients achieve the needed nutritional care. At a Danish University Hospital, focus has been on implementing nutritional practices based on clinical guidelines, but there is continuously variation between the wards regarding the quality of nutritional care. Aim: The aim of this study was to identify the potential barriers and facilitators for implementation of the clinical guidelines for nutritional practices and to recommend suggestions for development of nutritional practices, using a theoretical implementation strategy. Method: The design was a qualitative interview study of employees at a Danish University Hospital, using a semi‐structured interview guide. The participants were nurses, nurse's assistant, nurse nutrition expert, head nurse and dieticians. We recruited 11 employees, representing eight different wards. Findings: The analysis identified six themes: (1) clear allocation of responsibilities and committed management enhances nutrition practices, (2) leadership support is essential, (3) physical settings and tools affect possibilities for action, (4) selection of equivalent staff is core, (5) teaching promotes the knowledge and skills and (6) a dietitian in the ward facilitates implementation of nutritional care. Barriers and facilitators among the themes were identified and has led to suggestions to strengthen nutritional care, based on implementation theory. Conclusion: Various factors were identified as having impact on the implementation of nutrition practices and different suggestions have emerged to accommodate those factors, as well as to apply an implementation strategy to facilitate change in practice. Introduction: Medical errors are among the most important factors that threaten patient safety. Therefore, nurses' perspectives and experiences about medical errors are important for this manner. Aims: The aim of this study was to determine in depth the perspectives and experiences of nurses related to how they define medical error, as well as its causes, management and reporting. Design: This descriptive, exploratory study involved a qualitative design. Methods: A total of 15 clinical nurses from eleven provinces were reached by snowball sampling method. In the study, nurses' perspectives on medical errors were obtained through semistructured in‐depth online interviews conducted based on phenomenological methods. Descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the interviews. The research was conducted following the COnsolidated criteria for REporting Qualitative checklist. Results: The resulting 26 codes were categorized under seven themes: "Definition of medical error", "Experience of medical errors", "Frequency of medical errors", "Causes of medical errors", "Reporting of medical errors", "Medical error approach" and "Prevention of medical errors". Conclusions: The results show that it is still necessary to increase the awareness of nurses about medical errors and the importance of error reporting. In addition, it reveals the need for leadership to eliminate the negative approach to medical errors and shows that nurse managers should be empowered accordingly. Implications for Nursing Practice and Policy: It is the first step of quality and safe care to reveal nurses' perspectives on medical errors, their thoughts about medical errors and their experiences about errors in their institutions. In this study, nurses' knowledge, opinions and experiences regarding medical errors were revealed in this qualitative study. Based on the involvement of qualified educators in its design, the Learning-by-Concordance tool aims to promote the learning of reasoning in contexts of uncertainty. However, data are still scarce on the experience of educators in terms of sharing and exposing their reasoning processes using this tool. This study sought to explore the beliefs and experiences of educators when involved in the design of a Learning-by-Concordance tool. This research used a descriptive qualitative design. Four dialogue groups were conducted with educators with different roles and responsibilities while designing a Learning-by-Concordance tool. A descriptive interpretative analysis of educators' verbatim quotes was done. A total of 14 participants took part in the study. The results show the discomfort of educators despite their recognized expertise. Three themes emerged: 1- the need to be reassured by the opinions of colleagues; 2-feeling like impostors; and 3- concerns for the quality of instructional supports. The role taken by educators for teaching reasoning in contexts of uncertainty is to draw on practical experience where different types of knowledge intersect and are mobilized, to overcome feelings of insecurity, and to engage in close and authentic conversation with learners. • Little is known about how to teach reasoning in contexts of uncertainty. • Learning-by-Concordance tool specifically targets this cognitive task. • Educators feel uneasy when designing a learning tool for contexts of uncertainty. This study aimed to explore the experiences of Jordanian mothers of children with cerebral palsy (CP) in order to better understand the challenges they face while caring for their children. A qualitative descriptive study was applied, using semi-structured face to face interviews with a purposive sample of 10 mothers of children with CP. Mothers caring for children with CP embark on a challenging journey. Navigating the diagnosis begins with shock and disbelief, followed by emotional struggles as they deal with the new reality. This initial phase also involves caregiving challenges and hardships. Mothers may experience societal stigma and feelings of rejection, which can contribute to social isolation. Additionally, the physical demands of care can lead to financial hardships. These financial constraints can further limit access to specialized care, creating a frustrating cycle for mothers. Throughout this process, mothers demonstrate resilience by adapting to the illness . This encompasses making changes in their lives, actively seeking support, and developing expertise in managing their child's specific needs. The results shed light on the emotional, physical, and social challenges faced by mothers of children with CP. The findings show a narrative of adaptation, resilience, and strength, encompassing adjustments to the diagnosis, substantial life changes, seeking support, and addressing challenges such as social stigma, isolation, and various hardships. Hospitals frequently introduce new medical devices. However, the process of clinicians adapting to these new vascular access devices has not been well explored. The study aims to explore clinicians' experience with the insertion of a new guidewire peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) introduced in the emergency department (ED) setting. The study was conducted at two EDs in Queensland, Australia, utilising a qualitative explorative approach. Interviews were conducted with guidewire PIVC inserters, including ED doctors and nurses, and field notes were recorded by research nurses during insertions. Data analysis was performed using inductive content analysis, from which themes emerged. The study compiled interviews from 10 participants and field notes from 191 observation episodes. Five key themes emerged, including diverse experience, barriers related to the learning process, factors influencing insertion success, and recommendations to enhance clinicians' acceptance. These themes suggest that the key to successful adoption by clinicians lies in designing user-friendly devices that align with familiar insertion techniques, facilitating a smooth transfer of learning. Clinician adaptation to new devices is vital for optimal patient care. Emergency nurses and doctors prefer simplicity, safety, and familiarity when it comes to new devices. Providing comprehensive device training with diverse training resources, hands-on sessions, and continuous expert support, is likely to enhance clinician acceptance and the successful adoption of new devices in ED settings. BACKGROUND: Due to the changing environment and responding to the needs of the society, change in the traditional education system is inevitable. Also, the occurrence of events such as the COVID-19 pandemic showed that the existence of a virtual education system to prevent the cessation of education is the need of today's society. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the students' experiences of virtual education in Iranian universities of medical sciences during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: This qualitative study was conducted on 28 students studying in Iranian universities of medical sciences from October 2021 to January 2022 to investigate their experiences of virtual education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were selected by purposive sampling. An interpretive phenomenological approach and semi-structured, face-to-face, in-depth interview were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed by Colizzi's seven-step method. RESULTS: Students' experiences of virtual education during the COVID-19 pandemic were categorized into three themes and seven sub-themes, including the strengths of virtual education (sub-themes: individual and educational dimensions), the weaknesses of virtual education (sub-themes: infrastructural, educational, tests and assignments fields), and suggestions to improve virtual education (sub-themes: infrastructural development and educational planning). CONCLUSION: According to the study results, the virtual education during the COVID-19 pandemic led to students staying away from the crowded centers. However, some weaknesses were also mentioned by the participants. Therefore, by anticipating requirements and needs, planning and policy making, and seriously reviewing human, financial, and support resources, virtual education can be developed and used as a supplement to face-to-face education in the future. The COVID-19 pandemic significantly interrupted the grieving experiences of bereaved families and drastically changed their ways of dealing with loss. Our study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the experience of bereaved relatives of patients who died in palliative care units during the COVID-19 pandemic. The phenomenological research design included sixteen family members of hospitalized palliative patients who died from November 2021 to June 2022. The study involved conducting qualitative in-depth semi-structured interviews with family members 12–24 months after the death of their loved ones. The interviews aimed to gather information about the experiences of the families both before and after the death. The COREQ guidelines were applied in the study. Participants were mainly female (n = 13) with a mean age of 47.25 (SD = 12.58). Data were analysed using the Interpretative Phenomenology Analysis (IPA). The following three categories were identified: (1) navigating loved ones' final weeks and days (troubled deaths); (2) the last farewell was robbed; (3) looking for adjustment after loss. One overall main theme emerged, which was as follows: "Struggling between stolen moments and painful losses to get back into the flow of life". This study provides novel insights into end-of-life care and bereavement from the perspectives of family. Our findings suggest that developing and promoting family-centred culture can lead to compassionate palliative care focused on a myriad ways of affirming that their loved one matters. The WHO suggests that different societies should investigate the causes of elder abuse in their culture. This study was conducted to investigate the risk factors for elder abuse in Iran using an ecological approach at the microsystem level. This qualitative research had a direct content analysis approach with 66 older adults and caregivers as participants. The data were collected using interviews. Analysis of data was conducted simultaneously with data collection, using the MAXQDA10 software, and results were reported based on Elo's recommendation. Two main categories of data analysis were obtained, Issues related to care recipients and care and caregiver's challenges. This study was unique owing to its extensiveness and attention to the underlying factors of abuse in the socio-cultural context of Iran.
