The properties and applications of soybean protein isolates (SPIs) have been extensively investigated. In this study, we determined the optimal conditions for the preparation of the DND358 soybean protein isolate (DND358-SPI), assessed its physicochemical and functional properties, and investigated its potential applications in the food industry. According to the results, the highest extraction rate of DND358-SPI was observed when the pH was 9.5, the temperature was 55 °C, the duration was 80 min, and the material-to-liquid ratio was 1:20 (w/v). With regard to the functional properties, the water-holding capacity (WHC) and oil-binding capacity (OBC) of DND358-SPI were higher than those of other varieties, reaching 4.73% and 11.04%, respectively. In addition, the hardness, adhesiveness, chewiness, and resilience of DND358-SPI were higher than those of other varieties, reaching 159.27 g, 186.07 g, 6.78 mj, and 1.88, respectively. These findings indicate that DND358-SPI can reduce cholesterol levels and may be used to produce cholesterol-lowering food products. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Tumor burden score (TBS) based on maximum tumor diameter and number has been shown to correlate with prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Nevertheless, the results are conflicting. Hence, we conducted a meta-analysis to analyze the association between TBS and survival outcomes of HCC patients. Methods: A comprehensively search of the databases including PubMed, Embase and Web of Science was performed to retrieve studies satisfying the inclusion criteria until August 31, 2023. The hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. All the data analyses were carried out by STATA 12.0. Results: 10 retrospective studies containing 25073 patients were incorporated in the study. The results demonstrated that high TBS was markedly association with poor overall survival (OS) (HR: 1.79, 95% CI: 1.45–2.23) and relapse-free survival / progression-free survival(RFS/PFS) (HR: 1.71; 95% CI: 1.42–2.07). Subgroup analysis showed that the prognostic value of TBS in HCC was not affected by any subgroup. Conclusions: TBS may be an efficient prognostic index in HCC patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The uncommon tumour known as gastric mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms (G-MiNENs) is made up of parts of neuroendocrine carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. The biological and clinical features are different from those of gastric adenocarcinoma. Their pathophysiology, diagnostic standards, and clinical behaviour have all been the subject of lengthy debates, and their nomenclature has undergone multiple changes. Its emergence has created new challenges in the classification and diagnosis of gastric tumours. This review will update information on the topic, covering molecular aspects, diagnostic criteria, treatment, and prognostic factor discovery. It will also provide a historical context that will aid in understanding the evolution of the idea and nomenclature of mixed gastric tumours. Introduction: DOK is a new type of regulatory protein family that participates in the regulation of tumor cell growth. However, most of the studies are conducted in cell lines, and systematic studies have not been conducted in human tumors., Objectives: We conducted a comprehensive analysis of DOK based on its expression profile and its relationship with patient survival, immune infiltration, tumor microenvironment, and drug sensitivity., Methods: We used the TCGA database to analyze the correlation between DOK family gene expression and prognosis and clinical stage. The protein expression of DOK in tumor tissues was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Use the cBioPortal database to analyze the alteration frequency in DOK family genes in human tumors. In addition, we used ESTIMATE algorithm and TIMER website to analyze the correlation between DOK family genes and tumor immunity. Finally, we further analyzed the relationship between DOK family genes and tumor stemness and the sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapy., Results: We conducted a comprehensive analysis of DOK family genes based on its expression profile and its relationship with patient survival. We also confirmed this conclusion by immunohistochemistry. The expression of DOK family genes is related to OS, clinical stage, tumor mutation, methylation, CNV, and SNV. DOK family genes are significantly associated with poor prognosis of UVM. DOK1-DOK3 has obvious correlation with tumor immunity. DO K2 can increase the sensitivity of chemotherapy drugs, while DOK4 reduces the sensitivity of multiple chemotherapy drugs. In addition, the expression level of DOK family genes is significantly correlated with the activity of cancer marker-related pathways., Conclusions: DOK plays a role of tumor suppressor gene or tumor-promoting gene in different tumors. However, DOK family genes play a role in promoting cancer in UVM.
