The Foreign Customs Districts in Kwangtung (Guangdong) Province were spatial areas under the customs business jurisdiction established on the basis of location. Such Districts were under the Commissioner of Chinese Maritime Customs during 1859–1949.Since then, the number of Foreign Customs Districts had grown from two in the late Qing Dynasty to 11 in the Republic of China, which accounted for nearly half of the Chinese Maritime Customs Districts (19).They also gradually developed a vertical spatial pattern system, which was composed of three levels, namely, the head office, sub-offices and barriers. This thesis analyzes the characteristics of the spatial distribution of the Foreign Customs Districts, which are located at the junction of China’s land and sea resources by mathematical graph analysis methods, such as kernel density estimation, geographic concentration index, and imbalance index method. The study aims to provide a case study of the spatial structure of the Foreign Customs Districts in the modern Chinese reference.

Based on the translation of the historical maps of cities, this paper sorts out the distribution information of various commercial buildings in Guangzhou during 19th century, and establishes a database of commercial buildings in Guangzhou in the 19th century with spatial information technology to show the distribution of various commercial buildings in this city. Moreover, this paper uses GIS to process pairing and density comparison analysis from various sources, which reveal the evolution characteristics, and impetus factors, of commercial buildings in Guangzhou from the formation and factors of urban commercial buildings spatial pattern. Finally, this paper provides countermeasures for the protection of contemporary Guangzhou city, commercial and trade buildings, in the context of rapid urbanization.

Designing and building sustainable buildings is a trend in the current building industry. Utilizing intensive land resources, three-dimensional greening, integration of architectural design, water resources utilization, optimization of indoor acoustic environment and comfort, education promotion and other sustainable development technical measures, the green building design practice of Guangdong University of Finance & Economics Guangzhou Campus combines the local climate characteristics and organically combines green building design practice with cultural education building, which can provide theoretical and practical references for the design practice of green culture education buildings in China.

Over the past 10 years, the number of broadband seismic stations in China has increased significantly. The broadband seismic records contain information about shear-wave splitting which plays an important role in revealing the upper mantle anisotropy in the Chinese mainland. Based on teleseismic SKS and SKKS phases recorded in the seismic stations, we used the analytical method of minimum transverse energy to determine the fast wave polarization direction and delay time of shear-wave splitting. We also collected results of shear-wave splitting in China and the surrounding regions from previously published papers. From the combined dataset we formed a shear-wave splitting dataset containing 1020 parameter pairs. These splitting parameters reveal the complexity of the upper mantle anisotropy image. Our statistical analysis indicates stronger upper mantle anisotropy in the Chinese mainland, with an average shear-wave time delay of 0.95 s; the anisotropy in the western region is slightly larger (1.01 s) than in the eastern region (0.92 s). On a larger scale, the SKS splitting and surface deformation data in the Tibetan Plateau and the Tianshan region jointly support the lithospheric deformation mode, i.e. the crust-lithospheric mantle coherent deformation. In eastern China, the average fast-wave direction is approximately parallel to the direction of the absolute plate motion; thus, the upper mantle anisotropy can be attributed to the asthenospheric flow. The area from the Ordos block to the Sichuan Basin in central China is the transition zone of deformation modes between the east and the west regions, where the anisotropy images are more complicated, exhibiting “fossil” anisotropy and/or two-layer anisotropy. The collision between the Indian Plate and the Eurasian Plate is the main factor of upper mantle anisotropy in the western region of the Chinese mainland, while the upper mantle anisotropy in the eastern region is related to the subduction of the Pacific Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate beneath the Eurasian Plate.

The purpose of this paper is to study Non-physical historical buildings composed by computer 3D models to enhance the experience of city culture and realize the “digital city” information management. Non-physical historical buildings could be an important core cover a city culture and memory, and main competitiveness of city development as well. The Thirteen Factories of canton was the center of Sino-Western commercial which including the integration of culture and trade. The research methodology mainly adapted on three approach. 1) Interpretation and transformation for historical information at the Thirteen Factories Yi Guan Area. 2) According to 3D modeling and texture processing achieve real virtual recreation practice.3) To discuss the ways of digital technology to restore the Non-physical historical buildings. This paper focuses on relationship of digital technology and historical culture heritage, which could improve the economics transformation of city culture.
