As a highly regarded superconducting material with a concise layered structure, MgB2 has attracted significant scientific attention and holds vast potential for applications. However, its limited current-carrying capacity under high magnetic fields has greatly hindered its practical use. To address this issue, we have enhanced the superconducting performance of MgB2 by incorporating inhomogeneous phase nanostructures of p-n junctions with electroluminescent properties. Through temperature-dependent measurements of magnetization, electronic specific heat, and Hall coefficient under various magnetic fields, we have confirmed the crucial role of inhomogeneous phase electroluminescent nanostructures in improving the properties of MgB2. Experimental results demonstrate that the introduction of electroluminescent inhomogeneous phases effectively enhances the superconducting performance of MgB2. Moreover, by controlling the size of the electroluminescent inhomogeneous phases and optimizing grain connectivity, density, and microstructural uniformity, we can further improve the critical temperature (TC) and flux-pinning capability of MgB2 superconducting materials. Comprehensive studies on the physical properties of MgB2 superconducting structures added with p-n junction electroluminescent inhomogeneous phases also confirm the general effectiveness of electroluminescent inhomogeneous phases in enhancing the performance of superconducting materials.

Superconducting materials exhibit unique physical properties and have great scientific value and vast industrial application prospects. However, due to limitations, such as the critical temperature (TC) and critical current density (JC), the large-scale application of superconducting materials remains challenging. Chemical doping has been a commonly used method to enhance the superconductivity of B(P)SCCO. However, satisfactory enhancement results have been difficult to achieve. In this study, we introduce green-light GaN p-n junction particles as inhomogeneous phases into B(P)SCCO polycrystalline particles to form a smart meta-superconductor (SMSC) structure. Based on the electroluminescence properties of the p-n junction, the Cooper pairs were stimulated and strengthened to enhance the superconductivity of B(P)SCCO. The experimental results demonstrate that the introduction of inhomogeneous phases can indeed enhance the critical temperature TC, critical current density JC, and complete diamagnetism (Meissner effect) of B(P)SCCO superconductors. Moreover, when the particle size of the raw material of B(P)SCCO is reduced from 30 to 5 μm, the grain size of the sintered samples also decreases, and the optimal doping concentration of the inhomogeneous phases increases from 0.15 wt.% to 0.2 wt.%, further improving the superconductivity.

The reserves of nitrate (NO3-) mineral resources in the Turpan-Hami Basin in Xinjiang rank second after those in the Atacama Desert in Chile, South America. Considerable attention has been devoted to nitrogen (N) sources of NO3- deposits in recent years due to the increase in demand for NO3- fertilizers in agriculture and chemical industries. However, although the potassium nitrate (KNO3) deposits in the Uyunbulak salt lake in the Kumish basin, Xinjiang, China, have received increasing attention from numerous researchers in recent years, they all focused on the study of nitrate sources and agreed that the nitrate source in the Kumish basin is mainly atmospheric sedimentation. Studies on their water sources are scarce; for salt lake nitrate deposits, water supply also plays a crucial role in the genesis of the deposit. As a sensitive indicator, a boron isotope is often used to indicate water bodies from different sources. However, the presence of NO3- ions in water will interfere with the determination of boron isotopes, so the research on boron isotopes in nitrate salt lakes has been hindered. In this study, the three-step ion exchange method published by Ma et al. (2020) was used to eliminate the influence of NO3- ions in water on boron isotope determination, so as to reveal the water supply of Uyunbulak Salt Lake in Kumish basin by using boron isotopes which are more sensitive to water types. In this study, ice and snow meltwater, fissure water, groundwater, and surface water samples were collected from the Kumish basin and analyzed for the determination of boron (B) isotopic and hydrochemical compositions during the migration process of water bodies to reveal the recharge relationship between the water bodies from the northwestern margin of the basin and the study area. The obtained hydrochemical composition results showed a gradual increase in the salinity of the water body from 556 to 7372 mg/L from the northwestern to the southeastern parts of the basin, resulting in a gradual change in the hydrochemical facies type of Uyunbulak salt lake to NaCl. This finding suggested that the water body migrates from the northwestern to southeastern parts of the basin. The results of B isotope composition indicated two types of water bodies from different sources, namely, the ice and snow meltwater of the Southern part of the Tianshan Mountains and groundwater of the basin, exhibiting B isotope composition ranges of 26.66–27.26‰ and 12.75–15.19‰, respectively. These two types of water bodies are mixed at the Uzong spring (Q1). The ice and snow meltwater in the mixed water accounted for 46%, while the groundwater accounted for 54%. The mixed water continues to recharge the Uyunbulak Salt Lake in the southeastern part of the basin.

Kunteyi Salt Lake (KSL), located in the northwest of the Qaidam Basin (QB), is rich in polyhalite resources. However, there is no relevant research on the ore-formed temperature of polyhalite in nature, such as KSL. The homogenization temperature (Th) of salt mineral inclusions can directly reveal the form temperature of minerals. In view of the poor diagenesis of polyhalite in KSL, almost no polyhalite crystals are formed. Therefore, the ore-formed temperature of polyhalite in KSL is revealed by using the Th of fluid inclusions in halite associated with polyhalite as a substitute index. A total of 472 Th data from 34 halite samples and 34 maximum homogenization temperature (ThMAX) data ranged from 17.1°C to 35.5°C, among which 24 data were concentrated at 17-23°C and the average value is 22.1°C. Brine temperature of other salt lakes in QB and paleoclimate characteristics of the study area were combined. It suggests that the temperature conditions of polyhalite mineralization in the study area are generally low. However, under the overall low-temperature background, polyhalite seems to be easily enriched at relatively high temperature; for example, the content of polyhalite is generally high in the first relatively dry and hot salt-forming period, and the brine temperature at the peak stage of polyhalite at 45 m is relatively high, which indicates that the high temperature conditions promote the formation of polyhalite in KSL. As far as the overall relationship between temperature and polyhalite is concerned, polyhalite is deposited at both low temperature and relatively high temperature, which verifies the previous understanding that polyhalite is a mineral with wide temperature phase, and also shows that temperature has a limited effect on polyhalite formation under natural conditions. In addition, combined with the chemical composition of halite fluid inclusions, it is found that the concentration of Mg2+ in nature has an influence on the temperature measurement process. According to the previous experimental research, speculate that the actual temperature of ancient brine and ore-formed temperature of polyhalite in KSL are lower than the measured Th. The confirmation of the influence of Mg2+ on temperature measurement is convenient for more accurate reconstruction of the metallogenic temperature of evaporite such as polyhalite. The research on the ore-formed temperature of KSL polyhalite enriches and perfects the polyhalite mineralization theory and provides theoretical basis for the basic and applied research of polyhalite.

Increasing and improving the critical transition temperature (TC), current density (JC) and the Meissner effect (HC) of conventional superconductors are the most important problems in superconductivity research, but progress has been slow for many years. In this study, by introducing the p-n junction nanostructured electroluminescent inhomogeneous phase with a red wavelength to realize energy injection, we found the improved property of smart meta-superconductors MgB2, the critical transition temperature TC increases by 0.8 K, the current density JC increases by 37%, and the diamagnetism of the Meissner effect HC also significantly improved, compared with pure MgB2. Compared with the previous yttrium oxide inhomogeneous phase, the p-n junction has a higher luminescence intensity, a longer stable life and simpler external field requirements. The coupling between superconducting electrons and surface plasmon polaritons may be explained by this phenomenon. The realization of smart meta-superconductor by the electroluminescent inhomogeneous phase provides a new way to improve the performance of superconductors.

An average of concentrations of Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, K+, and Cl– in fluid inclusions, from the Khorat Plateau evaporite primary halite, was employed. The evaporation–crystallization sequence and paths were obtained under various temperature conditions for the quinary system, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+//Cl–-H2O. The results showed (1) a halite, sylvite, and carnallite stage at 25°C; (2) a halite, sylvite, carnallite, and bischofite stage at 35°C; and (3) a halite, sylvite, carnallite, bischofite, and tachyhydrite stage at 50°C. These results indicated that (1) a hot state is favorable for tachyhydrite formation, (2) tachyhydrite occurs in the late evaporation stage, and (3) the stability field of tachyhydrite increases with increasing temperature. The crystallization paths were plotted by the application of Jänecke phase diagram at 25°C, 35°C, and 50°C involving the system Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+//Cl–-H2O. The crystallization sequence predicted on the Jänecke phase diagram showed a good agreement with the experimental crystallization sequences and paths. Tachyhydrite precipitate more easily from a high Ca concentration solution during the late evaporation stage with increasing temperature under the same relative humidity condition. The evaporite mineral succession in the Khorat Plateau, Sergipe, and Congo basins agrees well with the mineral precipitation sequences predicted from their own fluid inclusions in halite. This is confirmed by the simulation of the Jänecke phase diagram at 50°C involving the system Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+//Cl–-H2O. The precipitation of tachyhydrite was sensitive to the temperature, and that the thermal resource may originate from a temperature profile in the solar pond. This study presented a simulated approach that can help in understanding similar cases that studies the sensitivity of temperature to salt formation.
