Abstract Soybean represents a vital source of premium plant-based proteins for human nutrition. Importantly, the level of water-soluble protein (WSP) is crucial for determining the overall quality and nutritional value of such crops. Enhancing WSP levels in soybean plants is a high-priority goal in crop improvement. This study aimed to elucidate the genetic basis of WSP content in soybean seeds by identifying quantitative trait loci (QTLs) and set the foundation for subsequent gene cloning and functional analysis. Using 180 F10 recombinant inbred lines generated by crossing the high-protein soybean cultivar JiDou 12 with the wild variety Ye 9, our researcher team mapped the QTLs influencing protein levels, integrating Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis and gene expression profiling to identify candidate genes. During the 2020 and 2022 growing seasons, a standard bell-shaped distribution of protein content trait data was observed in these soybean lines. Eight QTLs affecting protein content were found across eight chromosomes, with LOD scores ranging from 2.59 to 7.30, explaining 4.15–11.74% of the phenotypic variance. Notably, two QTLs were newly discovered, one with a elite allele at qWSPC-15 from Ye 9. The major QTL, qWSPC-19, on chromosome 19 was stable across conditions and contained genes involved in nitrogen metabolism, amino acid biosynthesis, and signaling. Two genes from this QTL, Glyma.19G185700 and Glyma.19G186000, exhibited distinct expression patterns at maturity, highlighting the influence of these genes on protein content. This research revealed eight QTLs for WSP content in soybean seeds and proposed a gene for the key QTL qWSPC-19, laying groundwork for gene isolation and enhanced soybean breeding through the use of molecular markers. These insights are instrumental for developing protein-rich soybean cultivars.

Dermal fibroblasts play a crucial role in the formation of granulation tissue in skin wounds. Consequently, the differentiation, migration, and proliferation of dermal fibroblasts are considered key factors in the skin wound healing process. However, in patients with diabetic foot ulcers, the proliferation and migration of fibroblasts are impaired by reactive oxygen species and inflammatory factors impair. Therefore, a novel magnetic gelatin-hesperidin microrobots drug delivery system was developed using microfluidics. The morphology, motility characteristics, and drug release of the microrobot were assessed, along with its impact on the proliferation and migration of human dermal fibroblasts under high-glucose conditions. Subjected to a rotating magnetic field, the microrobots exhibit precise, controllable, and flexible autonomous motion, achieving a maximum speed of 9.237 μm/s. In vitro drug release experiments revealed that approximately 78% of the drug was released within 30 min. It was demonstrated through cellular experiments that the proliferation of human dermal fibroblasts was actively promoted by the nanorobot, the migration ability of fibroblasts in a high-glucose state was enhanced, and good biocompatibility was exhibited. Hence, our study may provide a novel drug delivery system with significant potential for promoting the healing of diabetic foot wounds.

Abstract Background The prevalence of bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA) is significant on a global scale. Anoikis is a type of procedural cell death that has an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. The advent of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) approaches has revolutionized the genomics field by providing unprecedented opportunities for elucidating cellular heterogeneity. Understanding the mechanisms associated with anoikis in BLCA is essential to improve its survival rate. Methods Data on BLCA and clinical information were acquired from the databases of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). ARGs were obtained from Genecards and Harmonizome databases. According to univariate Cox regression analysis, the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) algorithm was utilized to select the ARGs associated with the overall rate (OS). A multivariate Cox regression analysis was carried out to identify eight prognostic ARGs, leading to the establishment of a risk model. The OS rate of BLCA patients was evaluated using Kaplan–Meier survival analysis. To explore the molecular mechanism in low- and high-risk groups, we employed Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSVA). Immune infiltration landscape estimation was performed using ESTIMATE, CIBERSOT, and single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) algorithms. Patients were categorized into different subgroups through consensus clustering analysis. We employed biological functional enrichment analysis and conducted immune infiltration analysis to examine the disparities in potential biological functions, infiltration of immune cells, immune activities, and responses to immunotherapy. Results We identified 647 ARGs and 37 survival-related genes. We further developed a risk scoring model to quantitatively assess the predictive capacity of ARGs. The high-risk score group exhibited an unfavorable prognosis, whereas the low-risk score group demonstrated a converse effect. We also found that the two groups of patients might respond differently to immune targets and anti-tumor drugs. Conclusion The nomogram with 8 ARGs may help guide treatment of BLCA. The systematic assessment of risk scores can help to design more individualized and precise treatment strategies for BLCA patients.

Acid soils occupy approximately 50% of potentially arable lands. Improving crop productivity in acid soils, therefore, will be crucial for ensuring food security and agricultural sustainability. High soil acidity often coexists with phosphorus (P) deficiency and aluminum (Al) toxicity, a combination that severely impedes crop growth and yield across wide areas. As roots explore soil for the nutrients and water required for plant growth and development, they also sense and respond to below-ground stresses. Within the terrestrial context of widespread P deficiency and Al toxicity pressures, plants, particularly roots, have evolved a variety of mechanisms for adapting to these stresses. As legumes, soybean (Glycine max) plants may acquire nitrogen (N) through symbiotic nitrogen fixation (SNF), an adaptation that can be useful for mitigating excessive N fertilizer use, either directly as leguminous crop participants in rotation and intercropping systems, or secondarily as green manure cover crops. In this review, we investigate legumes, especially soybean, for recent advances in our understanding of root-based mechanisms linked with root architecture modification, exudation and symbiosis, together with associated genetic and molecular strategies in adaptation to individual and/or interacting P and Al conditions in acid soils. We propose that breeding legume cultivars with superior nutrient efficiency and/or Al tolerance traits through genetic selection might become a potentially powerful strategy for producing crop varieties capable of maintaining or improving yields in more stressful soil conditions subjected to increasingly challenging environmental conditions.

Research and development in the field of micro/nano-robots have made significant progress in the past, especially in the field of clinical medicine, where further research may lead to many revolutionary achievements. Through the research and experiment of microrobots, a controllable drug delivery system will be realized, which will solve many problems in drug treatment. In this work, we design and study the ability of magnetic-driven hydrogel microrobots to carry Lycorine hydrochloride (LH) to inhibit colorectal cancer (CRC) cells. We have successfully designed a magnetic field driven, biocompatible drug carrying hydrogel microsphere robot with Fe3O4 particles inside, which can achieve magnetic field response, and confirmed that it can transport drug through fluorescence microscope. We have successfully demonstrated the motion mode of hydrogel microrobots driven by a rotating external magnetic field. This driving method allows the microrobots to move in a precise and controllable manner, providing tremendous potential for their use in various applications. Finally, we selected drug LH and loaded it into the hydrogel microrobot for a series of experiments. LH significantly inhibited CRC cells proliferation in a dose- and time-dependent manner. LH inhibited the proliferation, mobility of CRC cells and induced apoptosis. This delivery system can significantly improve the therapeutic effect of drugs on tumors.

In order to solve the problem of there being a high proportion of wind and photovoltaic (PV) abandonment in the new energy system, an optimal dispatching method of concentrated solar power (CSP)–PV–wind hybrid power generation considering demand response is proposed. First, on the basis of the combination of wind and PV power stations and CSP stations, electric heating (EH) devices are used to convert unconsumed wind and PV power into thermal energy stored in the thermal storage system of the CSP station. Second, based on the difference in response time and response volume of customers, a stepped incentive-based demand response (IBDR) approach is introduced. Thus, a CSP–PV–wind power optimal dispatch model taking into account IBDR is established to achieve coordinated source-load dispatch. Finally, the CPLEX solver is invoked to optimize day-ahead scheduling with the goal of the lowest system comprehensive cost. Example analysis is used to confirm the proposed method’s usefulness in enhancing the system’s wind and PV power consumption capacity and reducing the system’s comprehensive cost.

To address the structural concerns of a 12.0 m-span landing assembled single-tube frame (LASF) for Chinese solar greenhouses subjected to snow loads, the internal forces and deformations of LASF and its reinforced counterpart (RLASF) were numerically simulated to determine the ultimate bearing capacities (Lu) and the failure loads (Lf). During the simulations, steel tubes were modeled as beam188 elements and cables as link180 elements. The frame constraints and the connections were assumed to be fixed supports and rigid, respectively. The loads were determined according to the Chinese standard (GB51183-2016). Simulations revealed that the LASF and RLASF primarily withstand bending moments and are prone to strength failures under snow loads. Both exhibited lower Lu and Lf under non-uniform snow loads than under uniform snow loads. The results also indicated that crop loads could deteriorate the structural safety of the LASF and RLASF. Lu and Lf were found to be proportional to the section modulus of the tubes. The effects of wind loads and initial geometry imperfections on Lf of the LASF and RLASF can be neglected. Furthermore, the RLASF exhibited higher Lf compared to the LASF. Steel usage of the RLASF could be further reduced by replacing circular tubes with rectangular tubes, making the RLASF a feasible option for constructing Chinese solar greenhouses.

To determine the fates of the persistent pollutants cadmium (Cd) and micro-plastics in agricultural soils, an in-depth understanding of the interactions between Cd and mulching film is required. In the present work, pot experiments are conducted under natural conditions to study the influence of various Cd concentrations on the aging process of polyethylene mulching film in soil collected from Changzhi, Shanxi Province. The results indicate that during 150 days, the aging degree of the mulch film increases gradually as the increased Cd concentration in the soil. Further, the results of attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectrometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) demonstrate that the average vinyl index (VI) of the aging mulch film increases from 1.29 to 1.82, while the oxygen-to-carbon (O/C) ratio of the mulch film decreases significantly from 0.344 to 0.045, as the Cd concentration is increased from 0 to 10 mg kg–1. When the aging time exceeds 90 days, the oxygen-containing functional groups (C–O and CO) generated consumed by the adsorbed Cd. In addition, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements indicate that Cd both enhances the formation of hydroxyl radical (·OH) on the surface of the mulch film and prevents the combination of ·OH and electrons, thereby accelerating the aging of the mulch. Hence, the present study indicates that the presence of Cd will hasten the decomposition of mulch, which will inevitably result in the faster release of micro-plastics from the mulch into the soil environment.

In this study, a novel family of single-phase, bridgeless, three-level power factor correction (PFC) topologies was proposed based on the embedded construction scheme. These technologies combined bridgeless PFC circuits and multilevel technology. These topologies are highly suitable for applications with high efficiency and high power density requirements. This family has six topologies. The derivation, operating principle, mathematical model, and circuit performance of the proposed topologies were analyzed. Furthermore, for this family of topologies, a four-carrier phase disposition pulse width modulation (FCPD-PWM) method and a system design method were proposed. Finally, an experimental prototype with an output power of 1 kW was designed. The circuit can work in the PFC mode under the rated working conditions and reflects the characteristics of three levels. The circuit can respond quickly and work normally under a variety of complex working conditions and can work in a diode rectification mode when the driving voltage signal is lost. The experimental results demonstrated the feasibility of the topology derived from the proposed embedded construction scheme and the effectiveness of the FCPD-PWM method for driving the proposed three-level conversion circuit.

To investigate the restoring force model (RFM) for a novel type of precast beam-to-column joints using a mechanical connection (PBCJ-MCs), the low-cycle cyclic loading test of three PBCJ-MCs was first performed in this article. Subsequently, combined with the shape of the test hysteresis curves and skeleton curves, three key characteristic points of cracking point, yield point, peak point and a key parameter at the strength degradation stage, stiffness were defined in the theoretical skeleton model. Using the regression approach, a four-line skeleton curve model for PBCJ-MCs was fitted by the dimensionless test skeleton curve data. Then, a mathematical model for strength degradation of PBCJ-MCs at the same loading displacement was established based on the damage index. By the analysis of the hysteresis path, the hysteresis rules applicable to PBCJ-MCs were formulated. The RFM for PBCJ-MCs considering the slipping and pinching effect was determined by fitting and properly defining the inflection point, pinching point, unloading stiffness and reload stiffness of the hysteresis curve in the unloading-reloading path. Finally, the theoretical skeleton curves, hysteresis curves and energy dissipation capacity were compared with test results. The results illustrated that the proposed RFM for PBCJ-MCs can better consider the pinching effect of PBCJ-MCs. The theoretical hysteresis curves of the proposed RFM considering the damage effect were more consistent with the test hysteresis curves, which can be used for further theoretical analysis and engineering applications.

The use of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) residue as a crop culture substrate has unique advantages in alleviating the obstacles associated with continuous monocropping, such as increasing production, improving quality and alleviating pests and diseases. However, the effect of TCM residue application on substrates in continuous monocropping practices has not been determined. In this study, the cucumber variety “Jinyou No. 10” was used as the material, and fermented TCM residue, vermiculite and perlite were used as organic substrates (3:1:1). The cucumbers were cultivated on substrates for different durations of continuous monocropping, which were the first cropping cycle (A1), second cropping cycle (A2), third cropping cycle (A3) and fourth cropping cycle (A4). The control (A0) was the substrate sample without any crop planted in it. After the cucumbers were harvested, substrate samples (areas around the cucumber roots) were collected. The physiochemical properties of the cultivated substrates were determined, and the microbial community structures were analyzed through 16S rRNA and ITS sequencing. The physiochemical indices of the substrates with different durations of continuous monocropping (A1–A4) were significantly different than those of the control (A0) substrate. Moreover, the continuous cropping of cucumber had greater effects on fungal communities than on bacterial communities. Bacterial community structure analysis revealed a greater proportion of important bacterial taxa (Proteobacteria, Chloroflexi, and Nitrospirae) in the continuous monocropping substrates than in the A0 substrate. For the fungal community, Ascomycota accounted for the largest percentage of the fungal community in all the samples. The diversity of the microbial community was found to be influenced primarily by electrical conductivity, organic matter content, pH and total potassium content according to the correlation analysis of physicochemical properties and relative abundance of the microbial community. Our study would provide a basis for addressing persistent challenges in continuous cropping and for obtaining the utmost benefit from using TCM organic residue waste.

In this study, polylactic acid/graphene oxide/Dopamine (PLA/GO/DA) porous nanofiber membrane was prepared by electrospinning. L _16 (4 ^3 ) orthogonal experiment was designed to investigate the effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, and DA concentration on the adsorption performance of DA oxidized and self-polymerized on the fiber. Based on the characterization of scanning electron microscopy and the determination of the adsorption performance of the fiber membrane to methylene blue (MB) dye, data visualization analysis, variance analysis, and F-test were conducted to determine the optimal process parameters: reaction temperature of 45 °C, reaction time of 30 h, and DA concentration of 2 mg ml ^−1 . PLA/GO/PDA(Polydopamine) nanofiber was prepared and characterized under the optimal process parameters. The results showed that the average diameter of the PDA-loaded nanofiber increased from 737 nm to 996 nm, and a layer of PDA with a thickness of about 129 nm was loaded on the outer surface of the fiber, making the contact angle of the fiber membrane with 0° and becoming a hydrophilic material. In adsorption performance testing of MB, the PLA/GO/PDA nanofiber membrane prepared based on the PLA/GO/DA fiber membrane with an adsorption rate of 98.81 % in 24 h was superior to the PLA/GO/PDA nanofiber membrane prepared based on the PLA/GO fiber membrane.

As nanotechnology develops in the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information and communication, and medical care, it has shown great promises. In recent years, medical nanorobots have made significant progress in terms of the selection of materials, fabrication methods, driving force sources, and clinical applications, such as nanomedicine. It involves bypassing biological tissues and delivering drugs directly to lesions and target cells using nanorobots, thus increasing concentration. It has also proved useful for monitoring disease progression, complementary diagnosis, and minimally invasive surgery. Also, we examine the development of nanomedicine and its applications in medicine, focusing on the use of nanomedicine in the treatment of various major diseases, including how they are generalized and how they are modified. The purpose of this review is to provide a summary and discussion of current research for the future development in nanomedicine.

BackgroundDiabetic foot ulcer (DFU) represents a highly-prevalent complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). Herein, the current study sought to identify the role of growth differentiation factor 10 (GDF-10) in wound healing in DFU via regulation of the transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1)/Smad3 pathway.MethodsDM- and DFU-related microarray datasets GSE29221 and GSE134431 were firstly retrieved, and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was carried out to construct a co-expression network affecting wound healing in DFU, followed by differential analysis. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of the DFU-related genes was subsequently constructed, and the core genes and signaling pathways in DFU were screened with the Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes functional analyses. A DFU rat model was constructed for mechanism verification of the effect of GDF-10 on wound healing in DFU.ResultsWGCNA screened five co-expression modules, and the brown module was most closely-related to DM. Clustering analysis screened 4417 candidate genes, of which 175 differential genes were associated with wound healing, further involved in TGF-β1/Smad3 signaling pathway regulation of wound healing in DFU. The PPI network analysis predicted that GDF-10 might regulate the TGF-β1/Smad3 signaling pathway to participate in DFU development. Results of animal experimentation showed that the wound healing rates of NFU, DFU, DFU + GDF and GDF + SIS3 groups on the 22nd day were (87.66 ± 6.80)%, (56.31 ± 7.29)%, (71.64 ± 9.43)% and (55.09 ± 7.13)%, respectively. Besides, the expression of TGF-β1 in NFU, DFU, DFU + GDF and GDF + SIS3 groups was 0.988 ± 0.086, 0.297 ± 0.036, 0.447 ± 0.044, and 0.240 ± 0.050, respectively, and that of Smad3 was 1.009 ± 0.137, 0.145 ± 0.017, 0.368 ± 0.048, and 0.200 ± 0.028, respectively. Specifically, GDF-10 exerted a significant diminishing effect on fasting blood glucose level, and promoted wound healing in DFU rats, in addition to up-regulation of VEGF, FGF, Ang-1, TGF-β1, Smad3 and enhancement of IL-1b, IL-6, TNF-a and MMP-9, thereby promoting fibroblast proliferation, collagen deposition and angiogenesis.ConclusionsOur findings highlight that GDF-10 may promote angiogenesis by activating TGF-β1/Smad3 signaling, thereby promoting wound healing in DFU rats.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to explore the clinical effects of different dosages of dexmedetomidine (Dex) combined with a target-controlled infusion of propofol in hysteroscopic submucosal myomectomy.MethodsNinety patients who underwent hysteroscopic submucosal myomectomy between September 2021 and March 2022 were enrolled and randomly divided into three groups, with 30 patients in each group. Patients in Groups A, B, and C received injections of 0.25, 0.5, or 0.75 µg/kg of Dex, respectively, by intravenous pump over 10 min. After this time, a maintenance dosage of 0.5 µg/kg/h was administered by intravenous infusion until the end of the surgery. Anesthesia was induced using 1.5 mg/kg of propofol and 0.3 µg/kg of sufentanil that were introduced through a laryngeal mask. The plasma concentration of propofol was maintained at 3 µg/ml by target-controlled infusion until the end of the surgery. The mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), and electroencephalographic bispectral index (BIS) were observed when the patient entered the operating room (T0), after catheter indwelling for anesthesia (T1), at the time of cervical dilation (T2), at the time of hysteroscopic surgery (T3), and at the end of the surgery (T4) in all three groups. The total dosage of propofol for induction and maintenance, anesthesia awakening time, orientation recovery time, Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score of the post-awakening uterine contraction pain, and adverse reactions were recorded.ResultsThe intraoperative reductions of MAP and HR in patients were significant in Group C when compared with those in Groups A and B (P

PR domain-containing 1 with zinc finger domain (PRDM1) has been reported as a promoter of inflammation, which is a critical process involved in the pathogenesis of acute gouty arthritis. Herein, we sought to ascertain the function of PRDM1 in the development of acute gouty arthritis and related mechanisms. At first, peripheral blood-derived monocytes from patients with acute gouty arthritis and healthy individuals were collected as experimental samples. Then, macrophages were induced from monocytes using phorbol myristate acetate (PMA). The expression patterns of PRDM1, sirtuin 2 (SIRT2), and NLR family, pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) were characterized by RT-qPCR and Western blot assay. PMA-induced macrophages were stimulated by monosodium urate (MSU) for in vitro experimentation. Meanwhile, a murine model of MSU-induced acute gouty arthritis was established for in vivo validation. PRDM1 was highly expressed while SIRT2 poorly expressed in patients with acute gouty arthritis. Loss of PRDM1 could reduce NLRP3 inflammasome and mature IL-1β levels and downregulate inflammatory cytokines in macrophages, which contributed to protection against acute gouty arthritis. Furthermore, results showed that PRDM1 could inhibit SIRT2 expression via binding to the deacetylase SIRT2 promoter. Finally, the in vivo experiments demonstrated that PRDM1 increased NLRP3 inflammasome and mature IL-1β through transcriptional inhibition of SIRT2, whereby aggravating MSU-induced acute gouty arthritis. To sum up, PRDM1 increased NLRP3 inflammasome through inhibiting SIRT2, consequently aggravating MSU-induced acute gouty arthritis.

Soybean is a primary meal protein for human consumption, poultry, and livestock feed. In this study, quantitative trait locus (QTL) controlling protein content was explored via genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and linkage mapping approaches based on 284 soybean accessions and 180 recombinant inbred lines (RILs), respectively, which were evaluated for protein content for 4 years. A total of 22 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with protein content were detected using mixed linear model (MLM) and general linear model (GLM) methods in Tassel and 5 QTLs using Bayesian interval mapping (IM), single-trait multiple interval mapping (SMIM), single-trait composite interval mapping maximum likelihood estimation (SMLE), and single marker regression (SMR) models in Q-Gene and IciMapping. Major QTLs were detected on chromosomes 6 and 20 in both populations. The new QTL genomic region on chromosome 6 (Chr6_18844283–19315351) included 7 candidate genes and the Hap.XAA at the Chr6_19172961 position was associated with high protein content. Genomic selection (GS) of protein content was performed using Bayesian Lasso (BL) and ridge regression best linear unbiased prediction (rrBULP) based on all the SNPs and the SNPs significantly associated with protein content resulted from GWAS. The results showed that BL and rrBLUP performed similarly; GS accuracy was dependent on the SNP set and training population size. GS efficiency was higher for the SNPs derived from GWAS than random SNPs and reached a plateau when the number of markers was >2,000. The SNP markers identified in this study and other information were essential in establishing an efficient marker-assisted selection (MAS) and GS pipelines for improving soybean protein content.

BackgroundIn recent years, the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage has increased globally. Multiple pregnancies and cesarean sections are well-known risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage. No studies have evaluated the associations between fetal growth anomalies and postpartum hemorrhage in women with twin pregnancies undergoing cesarean section. This study aimed to identify the relationship between fetal growth anomalies and postpartum hemorrhage in women with twin pregnancies undergoing cesarean section.MethodsThis retrospective single-center study included 3,180 women with twin pregnancies at a tertiary hospital between August 2013 and July 2020. Singleton reference charts were used to assess fetal growth restriction at birth. Discordant growth was defined as an intertwin birth weight difference of ≥20%. Logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the association between fetal growth anomalies and postpartum hemorrhage. Additionally, sensitivity analysis of abnormal placenta and stratification by twin chorionicity were conducted.ResultsThe overall incidence of postpartum hemorrhage was 4.3%. Twin growth discordance, especially with fetal growth restriction, was associated with an increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 1.62, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.05–2.51, P = 0.031; AOR = 1.71; 95% CI, 1.08–2.70, P = 0.022; AOR = 1.98, 95% CI, 1.21–3.25, P = 0.006, respectively). After stratification, this relationship persisted in dichorionic twins (OR = 1.71, 95% CI, 1.04–2.82, P = 0.036; OR = 1.90, 95% CI, 1.13–3.21, P = 0.016; OR = 2.48, 95% CI, 1.41–4.38, P = 0.002, respectively). However, no significant association was observed in monochorionic twin pregnancies.ConclusionGrowth discordance, especially complicated by fetal growth restriction, was associated with an increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage in women with twin pregnancies undergoing cesarean section, and was more evident in patients with dichorionic twins.

Abstract Background Continuous monocropping can affect the physicochemical and biological characteristics of cultivated soil. Sophora flavescens is a valuable herbal medicine and sensitive to continuous monocropping. Currently, diversity patterns of soil microbial communities in soil continuous monocropping with S. flavescens have not been extensively elucidated. Results In this study, comparative 16S rDNA and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) MiSeq sequencing analyses were used to examine the taxonomic community structure and microbial diversity in nonrhizosphere soil (CK) and rhizosphere soils (SCC, TCC, and FCC) sampled from fields that had undergone two, three, and five years of continuous monocropping, respectively. Among the microbial communities, a decreased abundance of Acidobacteria and increased abundances of Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes were found with the increase in monocropping years of S. flavescens. As the continuous monocropping time increased, the diversity of the bacterial community decreased, but that of fungi increased. Redundancy analysis also showed that among the properties of the rhizosphere soil, the available phosphorus, organic matter, total nitrogen, and sucrase had the greatest impacts on the diversity of the rhizosphere microbial community. Moreover, a biomarker for S. flavescens soil was also identified using the most differentially abundant bacteria and fungi in soil samples. Conclusions Our study indicates that long-term monocropping exerted great impacts on microbial community distributions and soil physicochemical properties. The relationship between microbial community and physicochemical properties of rhizosphere soil would help clarify the side effects of continuous S. flavescens monocropping. Our study may aid in uncovering the theoretical basis underlying obstacles to continuous monocropping and provide better guidance for crop production.

In China, the preservation of refrigerated daggertooth piker congers (Muraenesox cinereus) has received increasing attention in recent years due to the increased demand for fresh congers. In this study, the effect of tea polyphenols (0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%) and chitosan (0.5%, 1%, 2%) on daggertooth piker conger preservation was evaluated based on major spoilage bacteria detected during cold storage. The preservation quality was assessed through sensory scores, TVB-N, and TBARS concentrations and plate counts of total bacteria, H2S-producing bacteria, and Pseudomonas. The results showed that all concentrations of tea polyphenols and chitosan successfully inhibited spoilage bacterial growth, suppressed TVB-N (total volatile basic nitrogen) and TBARS (thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances) generation, and improved the sensory score, although the results were not dose-dependent. The optimal concentrations of tea polyphenols and chitosan were 0.2% and 0.5%, respectively. A later assessment of the synergistic effect of tea polyphenols and chitosan coating conger samples with both preservatives at their optimal concentration. Possibly, due to their mechanic difference in bacteriostasis, the combined treatment significantly inhibited the growth of H2S-producing bacteria and Pseudomonas, indicating a better antibacterial effect than when using one of the preservatives alone. Finally, combined tea polyphenol and chitosan treatment prolonged the first- and second-grade freshness of refrigerated congers for 4–6 days.

The scheme for weapon system of systems (WSoS) is a combination of equipment systems that supports the mission completion. Modern warfare combat missions tend to be complex, short-lived, and costly, which poses new challenges to the generation of the schema of WSoS. The structures of both missions and WSoS are analyzed in this paper. The subtask decomposition relationship of the mission and the system decomposition relationship of the equipment system are defined. A fuzzy quantitative description of the system function implementation is formed in terms of supportiveness, time and cost. On this basis, the mission-oriented WSoS scheme is transformed into a fuzzy weighted network, and the scheme generation algorithm and scheme evaluation index are proposed. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed approach is demonstrated using an illustrative example.

It is often difficult to detect the targets of interest via the line-of-sight (LOS) signals in the urban environment, since the LOS signals might be not available because of the presence of the walls. This article considers the target positioning problem via non-LOS signals using the single-input multiple-output small aperture millimeter wave radar. Assume that a target is located around a building corner and the geometric structure is known a priori. The phase comparison based algorithm is proposed, by exploiting the multipath propagation of the electromagnetic wave and the phase differences of the echoes among multiple channels. Finally, we validate the proposed algorithm via real data.

Prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD) is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancer in males. Previous studies had demonstrated long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) played crucial roles in human cancers. In present study, we reported ten disease-free survival time related lncRNAs in PRAD, including RP11-468E2.5, GS1-393G12.13, CTD-2228K2.7, RP11-783K16.13, RP11-631N16.4, CTC-435M10.12, RP11-1109F11.5, RP11-228B15.4, RP11-496I9.1, and RP11-95O2.5. Higher expression of these lncRNAs significantly correlates to shorter DFS time in patients with PRAD. We next constructed lncRNAs regulating PPI networks in PRAD. Bioinformatics analysis revealed these DFS-related lncRNAs were associated with the regulation of cell cycle, glucose metabolic process, histone modification, and RNA splicing. AR and SPOP were identified to be involved in regulating these lncRNAs expression in PRAD. The prognostic value and molecular functions of these lnRNAs in human diseases remained largely unknown. We thought this study for the first time demonstrated that they could act as novel potential biomarkers for PRAD.

Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is an important nutritional crop with high seed protein content. Production of high protein concentrations relies on sufficient nutrient supplies, especially of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P). Although the genetic basis for seed quality traits has been well studied, little information exists on any genetic connections between seed quality and nutrient supplies in soybean. Here, a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population of 179 progeny was generated using HC6 and JD17 as parents contrasting in seed quality and N and P translocation efficiencies. Seed protein and N and P translocation efficiencies were higher in HC6 than in JD17. Meanwhile, positive correlations were observed between seed protein content and translocation efficiency of N and P in RILs, implying that high N and P translocation efficiencies might facilitate seed protein accumulation. A genetic map was constructed using 5250 SNP markers covering a genetic distance of 3154.83 cM. A total of 6 loci for quality and 13 loci for N and P translocation efficiency were detected. Among them, two fragments on chromosome 6 and chromosome 20 contained multiple significant markers for both quality and N and P translocation efficiencies, with the respective observed LOD values ranging from 2.98 to 5.61, and 3.01 to 11.91, while the respective PVE values ranged from 8.2% to 13.9%, and 8.3% to 28.0%. Interestingly, one significant locus on chromosome 20 appears to be the product of a transposable element (TE) InDel in Glyma.20G085100, with progeny lacking the TE also exhibiting higher N and P translocation efficiencies, along with higher seed protein contents. Taken together, these results provide genetic evidence that increasing N and P translocation efficiencies may lead to increasing protein contents in soybean seeds. Furthermore, a TE InDel may be used as a genetic marker for breeding elite soybean cultivars with high protein content and N and P translocation efficiencies.

With the development of designed materials and structures, a wide array of micro/nanomachines with versatile functionalities are employed for specific sensing applications. Here, we demonstrated a magnetic propelled microdimer-based point-of-care testing system, which can be used to provide the real-time data of plasma glucose and lipids relying on the motion feedback of mechanical properties. On-demand and programmable speed and direction of the microdimers can be achieved with the judicious adjustment of the external magnetic field, while their velocity and instantaneous postures provide estimation of glucose, cholesterol, and triglycerides concentrations with high temporal accuracy. Numerical simulations reveal the relationship between motility performance and surrounding liquid properties. Such technology presents a point-of-care testing (POCT) approach to adapt to biofluid measurement, which advances the development of microrobotic system in biomedical fields.

The current work studied the physical modification effects of non-covalent surfactant on the carbon-particle-filled nanocomposite. The selected surfactant named Triton™ X-100 was able to introduce the steric repelling force between the epoxy matrix and carbon fillers with the help of beneficial functional groups, improving their dispersibility and while maintaining the intrinsic conductivity of carbon particles. Subsequent results further demonstrated that the physically modified carbon nanotubes, together with graphene nanoplates, constructed an effective particulate network within the epoxy matrix, which simultaneously provided mechanical reinforcement and conductive improvement to the hybrid nanocomposite system. For example, the hybrid nanocomposite showed maximum enhancements of ~75.1% and ~82.5% for the quasi-static mode-I critical-stress-intensity factor and dynamic compressive strength, respectively, as compared to the neat epoxy counterpart. Additionally, the fine dispersion of modified fillers as a double-edged sword adversely influenced the electrical conductivity of the hybrid nanocomposite because of the decreased contact probability among particles. Even so, by adjusting the modified filler ratio, the conductivity of the hybrid nanocomposite went up to the maximum level of ~10−1–100 S/cm, endowing itself with excellent electro-thermal behavior.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) cluster combat is a typical example of an intelligent cluster application, and it is characterized by its large scale, low cost, retrievability, and intra-cluster autonomous coordination. An unmanned reconnaissance mission for a target group (URMFTG) is a significant pattern in UAV cluster combat. This paper discusses the collaborative path planning problem of unmanned aerial vehicle formations (UAVFs) and refueling tankers in a URMFTG with threat areas and fuel constraints. The purpose of collaborative path planning is to ensure that the UAVFs (with fuel constraints) can complete the reconnaissance mission for the target group with the assistance of refueling tankers, which is one of the most important constraints in the collaborative path planning. In this paper, a collaborative path-planning model is designed to analyze the relationship between the planning path of the UAVFs and the tankers, and a threat avoidance strategy is designed considering the threat area. This paper proposes a two-stage solution algorithm. It creates a UAVFs path-planning algorithm based on the fast search genetic algorithm (FSGA) and a refueling tanker path-planning algorithm based on the improved non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). Based on simulation experiments, the solution method proposed in this paper can provide a better path-planning scheme for a URMFTG. That is, it decreases the rate of the UAVF’s distance growth from 3.1% to 2.2% for the path planning of UAVFs and provides a better Pareto solution set for the path planning of refueling tankers.

Soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) is an important source of human dietary protein and vegetable oil. A strong negative correlation between protein and oil contents has hindered efforts to improve soybean seed quality. The metabolic and genetic bases of soybean seed composition remain elusive. We evaluated metabolic diversity in a soybean near-isogenic line (NIL) population derived from parents (JD12 and CMSD) with contrasting seed oil contents. Using GC-TOF/MS, we compared seed primary metabolites of high protein/low oil lines, low protein/high oil lines, and their parents. Principal-components analysis showed that metabolic profiles of all progeny lines could be discriminated based on protein and oil contents. Univariate analysis revealed wide variation and transgressive segregation of metabolites in the population. Twenty-eight annotated metabolites, in particular free asparagine, free 3-cyanoalanine, and L-malic acid, were correlated with seed protein content or seed oil content or seed protein and oil content. Abstract Background Rhoptry protein 18 (ROP18) is a key virulence factor of Toxoplasma gondii. The host’s immune responses mediated by immune-related GTPases (IRGs) could be blocked by ROP18’s kinase activity. ROP18 also interacts with various substrates, such as activating transcription factor 6 beta (ATF6β) and affects multiple physiological functions within host cells, thereby inducing intense virulence. In this study, competitive inhibitors targeted to ROP18 were subjected to virtual screening based on the principle of structure-based drug design (SBDD). Methods The preparation of the ROP18 structure was conducted using the “Structure Prepare” function of Molecular Operating Environment (MOE) software. The ATP-binding pocket was selected as the starting point for virtual screening. Construction of the pharmacophore model used Extended Hückel Theory (EHT) half-quantitative measurement and construction, as well as the characteristics of Type I kinase inhibitors. The pharmacophore model of ROP18 was imported into the Specs database for small molecule similarity screening using EHT pharmacophore measurement. Hit compounds were selected using the functions of London dG and generalized-born volume integral/weighted surface area (GBVI/WSA) scoring. The top 100 hits were analyzed by molecular docking and structure activity relationships (SAR) analysis. Results The final pharmacophore comprised three typical characteristics: three hydrogen bond acceptors/donors, two ring aromatic features occupying the hydrophobic core, and one cation group feature targeted to the terminus of ATP. A total of 1314 hit compounds analogous to ROP18 pharmacophore were passed through the Specs. After two rounds of docking, 25 out of 100 hits were identified as belonging to two main scaffold types: phthalimide ring structure, thiazole ring and styrene structure. Additionally, the screen also identified 13 inhibitors with distinct scaffold types. The docking models and SAR analysis demonstrated that these hits could engage in multiple hydrogen bonds, salt bridges halogen bonds, and hydrophobic interactions with ROP18, and para-position halo substituents on the benzene ring may enhance their affinity scoring. Conclusions A pharmacophore against the ROP18 ATP-binding pocket was successfully constructed, and 25 representative inhibitors from 15 scaffold clusters were screened using the Specs database. Our results provide useful scaffold types for the chemical inhibition of ROP18 or alternative conformations to develop new anti-toxoplasmosis drug leads.

Low Earth orbit satellite constellation networks (LSCNs) have attracted significant attention around the world due to their great advantages of low latency and wide coverage, but they also bring new challenges to network security. Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks are considered one of the most threatening attack methods in the field of Internet security. In this paper, a space-time graph model is built to identify the key nodes in LSCNs, and a DDoS attack is adopted as the main means to attack the key nodes. The scenarios of two-satellite-key-node and multi-satellite-key-node attacks are considered, and their security performance against DDoS attacks is also analyzed. The simulation results show that the transmission path of key satellite nodes will change rapidly after being attacked, and the average end-to-end delay and packet loss are linearly related to the number of key-node attacks. This work provides a comprehensive analysis of the security performance of LSCNs under a DDoS attack and theoretical support for future research on anti-DDoS attack strategies for LSCNs.

Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is an important nutritional crop, not only as a rich source of protein and oil, but also for the production of isoflavones. There is a demand to breed soybean cultivars bearing consistently high protein, oil and isoflavone yields, yet this requires a clear heritable genetic relationship among isoflavone, protein and oil production. Here, two soybean genotypes contrasting in terms of protein, oil and isoflavone contents and their 185 F8:10 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) were employed to characterize seed protein, oil and isoflavone contents over two years of field trials. In this population, protein, but not oil, was significantly correlated with isoflavone content. A high-density genetic linkage map containing 3943 SNP markers identified through genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) technology was constructed for further genetic analysis, whereby a total of 25 integrated isoflavone loci were identified, including qISO1, qISO 6.1, qISO 6.3 and qISO 6.4, which are newly identified QTLs. Two major QTLs identified in this study, qISO5 and qISO6.2, were fine-mapped for production of daidzein and genistein derivatives, as well as for glycitein derivatives, in the sequences between nucleotide positions 41042159 and 42098680 on chromosome 5 and between 18449510 and 19395795 on chromosome 6, which, respectively, explain 9.3–20.4% and 7.8–24.8% of the phenotypic variation in these traits. Further combination of qISO5 and qISO6.2 resulted in additive impacts on isoflavone production. Among the 13 QTLs linked with seed protein content in this study, three also colocated with QTLs for isoflavone content, indicating that seed isoflavone and protein content may be coordinately inherited. These results contribute to understanding the relationships between isoflavone and protein or oil content in soybean seeds. This knowledge could be valuable for soybean breeding programs aiming to combine consistently high isoflavone production with high protein or oil content.

Developing high yielding cultivars with outstanding quality traits are perpetual objectives throughout crop breeding operations. Confoundingly, both of these breeding objectives typically involve working with complex quantitative traits that can be affected by genetic and environmental factors. Establishing correlations of these complex traits with more easily identifiable and highly heritable traits can simplify breeding processes. In this study, two parental soybean genotypes contrasting in seed hilum size, yield, and seed quality, as well as 175 F9 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from these parents, were grown in 3 years. The h2b of four hilum size, two quality and two yield traits, ranged from 0.72 to 0.87. The four observed hilum size traits exhibited significant correlation (P < 0.05) with most of seed yield and quality traits, as indicated by correlation coefficients varying from -0.35 to 0.42, which suggests that hilum size could be considered as a proxy trait for soybean yield and quality. Interestingly, among 53 significant quantitative trait loci (QTLs) with logarithm of odds (LOD) values ranging from 2.51 to 6.69 and accounting for 6.40–16.10% of genetic variation, three loci encoding hilum size, qSH6.2, qSH8, and qSH10, colocated with QTLs for seed yield and quality traits, demonstrating that genes impacting seed hilum size colocalize in part with genes acting on soybean yield and quality. As a result of the breeding efforts and field observations described in this work, it is reasonable to conclude that optimizing hilum size through selection focused on a few QTLs may be useful for breeding new high yielding soybean varieties with favorable quality characteristics.

With the fast development of giant LEO constellations, the effective spectrum utilization has been regarded as one of the key orientations for satellite communications. This paper focuses on improving the spectrum utilization efficiency of satellite communications by proposing a non-continuous orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (NC-OFDM) method. Based on the models of NC-OFDM system, we first propose a sub-carrier allocation method by using spectrum sensing to efficiently perceive and utilize the spectrum holes in the satellite communication system. Then, a hybrid genetic particle swarm optimization method is adopted to allocate the channel resources effectively. Finally, simulation results verify that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the spectrum efficiency of satellite communications.

Soil water content (SWC) is a critical indicator for engineering construction, crop production, and the hydrologic cycle. The rapid and accurate assessment of SWC is of great importance. At present, digital images are becoming increasingly popular in environmental monitoring and soil property analysis owing to the advantages of non-destructiveness, cheapness, and high-efficiency. However, the capture of high-quality digital image and effective color information acquisition is challenging. For this reason, a photographic platform with an integrated experimental structure configuration was designed to yield high-quality soil images. The detrimental parameters of the platform including type and intensity of the light source and the camera shooting angle were determined after systematic exploration. A new method based on Gaussian fitting gray histogram for extracting RGB image feature parameters was proposed and validated. The correlation between 21 characteristic parameters of five color spaces (RGB, HLS, CIEXYZ, CIELAB, and CIELUV) and SWC was investigated. The model for the relationship between characteristic parameters and SWC was constructed by using least squares regression (LSR), stepwise regression (STR), and partial least squares regression (PLSR). Findings showed that the camera platform equipped with 45° illumination D65 light source, 90° shooting angle, 1900~2500 lx surface illumination, and operating at ambient temperature difference of 5 °C could produce highly reproducible and stable soil color information. The effects of image scale had a great influence on color feature extraction. The entire area of soil image, i.e., 3,000,000 pixels, was chosen in conjunction with a new method for obtaining color features, which is beneficial to eliminate the interference of uneven lightness and micro-topography of soil samples. For the five color spaces and related 21 characteristic parameters, RGB and CIEXYZ spaces and characteristic parameter of lightness both exhibited the strongest correlation with SWC. The PLSR model based on soil specimen images ID had an excellent predictive accuracy and the best stability (R2 = 0.999, RMSE = 0.236). This study showed the potential of the application of color information of digital images to predict SWC in agriculture and geotechnical engineering.

Nature reserves have played significant role in conserving China's animal biodiversity, particularly nonhuman primates. The strategies and management of the reserves to be periodically modified according to new circumstances. Thus, assessment of conservation performance is as important as setting up conservation strategies and management. This project assesses conservation sites of the François' Langur (Trachypithecus francoisi) in Yezhong Nature Reserve established in Guizhou province in 1987. The langur population has grown very slowly in this reserve over the past 30 years (from 73 in 1987 to 119 in 2016), falling short of increases in three other reserves established for the species. The relatively small area (2700 ha) of the reserve, particularly the core area which occupies only 22.4% percent of the area, is one factor that may have constrained population increase. Conservation measures must be implemented to establish a more favorable and sustainable relation between socioeconomic development and wildlife protection in order to save the species in this reserve. The use of sterility is common in plants and multiple loci for hybrid sterility have been identified in crops such as rice. In soybean, fine-mapping and research on the molecular mechanism of male sterility is limited. Here, we identified a male-sterile soybean line, which produces larger, abnormal pollen grains that stain poorly with I2-KI. In an inheritance test, all F1 plants were fertile and the F2 and F2:3 populations conformed with the expected segregation ratio of 3:1 (fertility:sterility) (p = 0.82) and showed a 1:2:0 ratio of homozygous fertile: heterozygous fertile: homozygous sterile genotypes (p = 0.73), suggesting that the sterility was controlled by a single recessive gene (designated “mst-M”). Bulked segregant analysis showed that almost all single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs; 95.92%) were distributed on chromosome 13 and 868 SNPs (95.81%) were distributed in the physical region of Chromosome 13.21877872 to Chromosome 13.22862641. Genetic mapping revealed that mst-M was flanked by W1 and dCAPS-1 with genetic distances of 0.6 and 1.8 cM, respectively. The order of the consensus markers and known sterility genes was: Satt146 – (5.0 cM) – st5 – (2.5 cM) – Satt030 – (15.3 cM) – ms6 – (5.0 cM) – Satt149 – (39.5 cM) – W1 – (0.6 cM) – mst-M – (14.1 cM) – Satt516 (7.5 cM) – ms1 – (16.3 cM) – Satt595. These results suggest that mst-M is a newly identified male-sterility gene, which represents an alternative genetic resource for developing a hybrid seed production system for soybean.

Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr] is an important legume crop and its yield largely depends on root architecture (RA) and biological nitrogen fixation (BNF). However, the relationship between RA and BNF, and its genetics behind remain unclear. Here, two soybean genotypes contrasting in RA and their 175 F9:11 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) were evaluated in field. The shallow-root parent, JD12, had better nodulation and higher yield than the deep-root parent, NF58. Strong correlations between shoot dry weight (SDW) and RA or BNF traits existed in the RILs, and the shallow-root group had more and heavier nodules, as well as higher SDW. After inoculating with rhizobia, roots became shallower and bigger, showing strong synergistic interactions between RA and BNF. In total, 70 QTLs were identified for the 21 tested traits. Among them, qBNF-RA-C2, qBNF-RA-O, and qBNF-RA-B1, were newly identified QTLs for BNF and/or RA traits in soybean, which co-located with the QTLs for SDW detected presently, and with the QTLs for yield identified previously. The results together suggest that there are synergistic interactions between RA and BNF, and the QTLs identified here could be used for breeding new soybean varieties with higher yields through optimization of RA traits and BNF capacity.

Weapons development planning is an unstructured and complex multi-criteria decision-making problem, especially in antagonistic environments. In this paper, the defender’s decision was modelled as a high complexity non-linear optimization problem with limited resources. An operation loop with realistic link rules was first proposed to model the cooperation relationships among weapons in the defense system. The system dynamics principle was used to characterize the dynamic behavior of the nodes in a complex weapons network. Then, we used cumulative threat and development risk to measure different planning solutions by considering the opponent and uncertainties in the development process. Next, an improved Differential Evolution (DE) and Non-Dominated Sorting Differential Evolution (NSDE) were designed to determine the optimal planning solutions for a single objective and multi-objective. The compromise solution, based on the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), was used to evaluate the Pareto solution set of the multi-objective. Finally, an illustrative case was studied to verify the feasibility and validity of the proposed model.

The electrochemical performance of six imidazolium cation-based ionic liquids (ILs) containing 0.3 mol L-1 Mg(CF3SO3)2 as the electrolytes for magnesium deposition-dissolution was examined by cyclic voltammogramms and constant current discharge-charge techniques. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy measurements were conducted to characterize the morphologies and components of the deposits. The cathodic satiability of imidazolium cations can be improved by increasing the length of alkyls at the 1-position and introducing methyl group at the 2-position of the imidazolium cations. A reversible magnesium deposition-dissolution can be achieved at room temperature. After adding appreciate amount of tetrahydrofuran (THF) organic solvent, the conductivity and the peak currents for Mg deposition and dissolution can be significantly improved. The potential polarization of deposition-dissolution process is decreased using Mg powder electrode.
