The China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES-01) is the first satellite of the space-based observational platform for the earthquake (EQ) monitoring system in China. It aims to monitor the ionospheric disturbances related to EQ activities by acquiring global electromagnetic fields, ionospheric plasma, energy particles, etc., opening a new path for innovative explorations of EQ prediction. This study analyzed 47 shallow strong EQ cases (Ms ≥ 7 and depth ≤ 100 km) recorded by CSES-01 from its launch in February 2018 to February 2023. The results show that: (1) For the majority (90%) of shallow strong EQs, at least one payload onboard CSES-01 recorded discernible abnormal signals before the mainshocks, and for over 65% of EQs, two or three payloads simultaneously recorded ionospheric disturbances; (2) the majority of anomalies recorded by different payloads onboard CSES-01 predominantly manifest within one week before or on the mainshock day, or occasionally about 11–15 days or 20–25 days before the mainshock; (3) typically, the abnormal signal detected by CSES-01 does not directly appear overhead the epicenter, but rather hundreds of kilometers away from the epicenter, and more preferably toward the equatorward direction; (4) the anomaly recognition rate of each payload differs, with the highest rate reaching more than 70% for the Electric Field Detector (EFD), Search-Coil Magnetometer (SCM), and Langmuir Probe (LAP); (5) for the different parameters analyzed in this study, the plasma density from LAP, and electromagnetic field in the ULF band recorded by EFD and SCM, and energetic electrons from the High-Energy Particle Package (HEPP) show a relatively high occurrence of abnormal phenomena during the EQ time. Although CSES-01 has recorded prominent ionospheric anomalies for a significant portion of EQ cases, it is still challenging to accurately extract and confirm the real seismic precursor signals by relying solely on a single satellite. The combination of seismology, electromagnetism, geodesy, geochemistry, and other multidisciplinary means is needed in the future’s exploration to get infinitely closer to addressing the global challenge of EQ prediction.

Abstract As an emerging surgical technology, tissue removal systems have been widely used in the treatment of endometrial polyps due to its characteristics of less endometrial damage, shorter learning curve and clearer vision of the operative field. There are few cases in the literature reporting serious complications after endometrial polypectomy using tissue removal systems. As known, septic shock is a rare complication following hysteroscopic polypectomy. Now, we present the case of a 23-year-old woman who developed septic shock after polypectomy with tissue removal system. The patient had a history of recurrent vaginitis for more than half a year. Due to endometrial polyps, she was admitted to our hospital and scheduled to undergo hysteroscopic endometrial polypectomy. Three hours after the endometrial polypectomy using the tissue removal system, the patient had shock symptoms such as increased body temperature, decreased blood pressure and increased heart rate. Then, the patient was successfully treated and discharged after anti-infection and anti-shock treatments. The purpose of this case report is to remind clinicians to consider the possibility of serious infection and comprehensively evaluate the risk of infection before choosing hysteroscopic devices for endometrial polyps, especially for patients who choose the mechanical hysteroscopic tissue removal systems. Furthermore, the mechanical hysteroscopic tissue removal systems should be used with caution in patients with previous recurrent vaginitis.

The Zhangheng-1 electromagnetic satellite is the space-based observation platform of China's stereoscopic earthquake observation system. Its scientific objective is to obtain the global geomagnetic field, electromagnetic field (waves), ionospheric plasma parameters, and high-energy particles for monitoring the dynamic variation of the ionosphere and the seismo-ionospheric disturbances over China and its surrounding areas to compensate for the deficiency of the ground-based observation system. The project explores new ways of earthquake monitoring and prediction by using space science. The first test probe of the Zhangheng-1 electromagnetic satellite series was successfully launched in February 2018, and has been stably operating in orbit for more than four years. The second is an operational probe that will be launched in early 2023. The in-flight commissioning test and cross-calibration work show that the Zhangheng-1 electromagnetic satellite can provide good data quality to support geophysics and space physics studies, and has obtained valuable scientific results in recent years. The global geomagnetic reference model built by Zhenghang-1 data is the first global geomagnetic field model built using only Chinese satellite data, allowing Chinese scientists to take an important role in the computation of the global geomagnetic reference model (IGRF) for the first time in over a century. The ionospheric electron density 3D model based on Zhangheng-1 satellite data can present the ionospheric structure characteristics. In natural hazards monitoring, Zhangheng-1 has shown good response ability to disturbances related to earthquakes, volcano eruptions, and geomagnetic storms. In terms of the lithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere coupling mechanism study, the full-wave calculation method can provide the electromagnetic field changes between the lithosphere-ionosphere waveguide and the ionospheric wave propagation feature. The results from the full-wave model prove the capability of the Zhangheng-1 satellite's electromagnetic payloads to detect low-frequency electromagnetic emissions induced from the earthquake epicenter. The simulation and observation studies suggest that the Zhangheng-1 satellite can reflect seismic activities, very low frequency (VLF) transmitter, magnetic anomalies in the lithosphere, and lightning activities in the atmosphere. These recent scientific results show that the Zhangheng-1 electromagnetic satellite is consistent with other similar types of electromagnetic satellites worldwide, indicating its great potential in scientific application.

On May 21, a Ms6.4 earthquake occurred in Yangbi, Yunnan Province. Less than 5 ​h later, on May 21, follows a Ms7.4 earthquake in Madoi, Qinghai Province. In this study, multiple parameters are studied from CSES-01 satellite and GNSS. The parameters include the electron density from LAP, energetic particle flux from HEPP, electric field spectrum from EFD, induced magnetic field spectrum from SCM, and global TEC from ground-based GNSS receivers. In the time scale, all parameters changed on May 15, 17 and 18. The relative amplitude of Ne is more than 200%. In space scale, the clear enhancement focus on the southeast of the epicenter of Madoi, Qinghai, and the shape of the focus region is like a clockwise-30°-rotated rectangle, which is about 45° in length and 20° in width. Moreover, there appeared enhancement in the conjugated region. According to the day-to-day analysis of the low-frequency (75–90 Hz) spectrum of EFD and SCM payloads, the relationship of the increment on May 18 could be confirmed with the successive two earthquakes. The energetic particle fluxes enhanced on May 20. All those changes are located in the east of the following epicenter and appeared just several days before, which could be well explained by the Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere theory.

Abstracts: This work analyzed the electromagnetic field (EM) anomalies recorded by the electric field detector (EFD) and the search coil magnetometer (SCM) onboard the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES) during the two earthquakes (EQ), which are the Yangbi Ms6.4 EQ on May 21 (China Standard Time, CST) and the Madoi Ms7.4 EQ on May 22 (CST), 2021. These two EQs successively occurred in West China. The prevailing frequency band excluding the interferences from the satellite platform was chosen to extract convincible seismic-related EM disturbances. Two criteria were put forward to obtain reliable precursors using the Kp and Dst index and the variation rate of Dst per hour to eliminate the tinier spatial perturbations. We found that the seismic-related EM disturbances mainly appeared 1–10 days before the two earthquakes within the spatial extension of 1000 ​km above the epicenters.

To explore the correlation between earthquakes and spatial ultra-low frequency electric field disturbances and to study the phenomenon of seismic ionospheric disturbances, this study uses 3 years of electric field ULF band data from 2019 to 2021 observed by the electric field detector carried by the CSES to identify anomalous disturbances using the anomaly automatic detection algorithm based on empirical mode decomposition for the 2,329 seismic events of magnitude not less than 5.0 and the electric field ULF disturbances in this period are analyzed by Superposed Epoch Analysis, and the statistical results are compared and analyzed in depth by earthquake location and different magnitudes in terms of both spatial and temporal scales and spatial distribution. The results show that: 1) There is a correlation between earthquakes of magnitude not less than 5.0 and ultra-low frequency disturbances in the electric field. The abnormal disturbance mainly occurred 11 days before the earthquake, 2 days before the earthquake to the day of the earthquake, and the location of the earthquake is within 200 km from the epicenter. 2) Sea earthquakes can observe more pre-seismic anomalous electromagnetic disturbances than land earthquakes. 3) In terms of earthquake magnitude, the larger the magnitude, the earlier the pre-earthquake anomalous disturbances appear and the wider the range of anomalies. This study provides an effective way to explain seismic ionospheric phenomena, and also provides a reference for the application of electromagnetic monitoring satellites in earthquake prediction and early warning as well as disaster prevention and mitigation.

The use of shape memory polymer composites as novel materials for next generation space deployable structures requires the study of the effect of space environment upon their properties. The resistance of carbon fiber/epoxy shape memory polymer composite to vacuum thermal cycling, ultraviolet radiation and atomic oxygen has been evaluated separately by using ground-based simulation facilities. The thermal cycling condition has a temperature range of −100 °C to +100 °C with cycle times of 0, 15, 30, and 45. The irradiation times of ultraviolet with a wavelength range of 250 nm–400 nm are 0, 80, 160, and 240 h. The atomic oxygen radiation has a translational energy of about 5 eV and a flux of about 2 × 1015 atoms/cm2 at the sample position, and the irradiation times are 0, 33, 66, and 100 h. The shape memory polymer composite specimens are compared in terms of morphology, tensile modulus, breaking strength and elongation at break before and after irradiation. Results show that thermal cycling increases tensile modulus but decreases the breaking strength and the elongation at break of material after 45 cycles. The effect of ultraviolet radiation on mechanical properties of materials depends on the radiation dose received. Atomic oxygen can negatively but slightly affect the mechanical properties of the material.

Precise regional crop yield estimates based on the high-spatiotemporal-resolution remote sensing data are essential for directing agronomic practices and policies to increase food security. This study used the enhanced spatial and temporal adaptive reflectance fusion model (ESTARFM), the flexible spatiotemporal data fusion (FSADF), and the spatial and temporal non-local filter based fusion model (STNLFFM) to calculate the normalized differential vegetation index (NDVI) of the summer maize planting area in the Southeast Loess Plateau based on the Sentinel-2 and MODIS data. The spatiotemporal resolution was 10 m and 1 d, respectively. Then, we evaluated the adaptability of the ESTARFM, FSADF, and STNLFFM fusion models in the field from the perspectives of spatial and textural characteristics of the data, summer maize NDVI growing curves, and yield estimation accuracy through qualitative visual discrimination and quantitative statistical analysis. The results showed that the fusion of ESTARFM–NDVI, FSDAF–NDVI, and STNLFFM–NDVI could precisely represent the variation tendency and local mutation information of NDVI during the growth period of summer maize, compared with MODIS–NDVI. The correlation between STNLFFM–NDVI and Sentinel-2–NDVI was favorable, with large correlation coefficients and a small root mean square error (RMSE). In the NDVI growing curve simulation of summer maize, STNLFFM introduced overall weights based on non-local mean filtering, which could significantly improve the poor fusion results at seedling and maturity stages caused by the long gap period of the high-resolution data in ESTARFM. Moreover, the accuracy of yield estimation was as follows (from high to low): STNLFFM (R = 0.742, mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) = 6.22%), ESTARFM (R = 0.703, MAPE = 6.80%), and FSDAF (R = 0.644, MAPE = 10.52%). The FADSF fusion model was affected by the spatial heterogeneity in the semi-humid areas, and the yield simulation accuracy was low. In the semi-arid areas, the FADSF fusion model had the advantages of less input data and a faster response.

The CSES high precision magnetometer (HPM), consisting of two fluxgate magnetometers (FGM) and one coupled dark state magnetometer (CDSM), has worked successfully for more than 5 years providing continuous magnetic field measurements since the launch of the CSES in February 2018. After rechecking almost every year’s data, it has become possible to make an improvement to the in-flight intrinsic calibration (to estimate offsets, scale values and non-orthogonality) and alignment (to estimate three Euler angles for the rotation between the orthogonalized sensor coordinates and the coordinate system of the star tracker) of the FGM. The following efforts have been made to achieve this goal: For the sensor calibration, FGM sensor temperature corrections on offsets and scale values have been taken into account to remove seasonal effects. Based on these results, Euler angles have been estimated along with global geomagnetic field modeling to improve the alignment of the FGM sensor. With this, a latitudinal effect in the east component of the originally calibrated data could be reduced. Furthermore, it has become possible to prolong the updating period of all calibration parameters from daily to 10 days, without the separation of dayside and nightside data. The new algorithms optimize routine HPM data processing efficiency and data quality.

Breast cancer is the malignant tumor with the highest incidence rate at present, and its incidence rate ranks first in the female population. COL11A1 is an important component of collagen XI and is considered to play an important role in a variety of connective tissue diseases. Recent studies have shown that COL11A1 is associated with the occurrence and development of many kinds of malignant tumors. However, its prognostic value in breast cancer and its correlation with immune cell infiltration in tumor tissue are not clear. In this paper, we reveal the prognostic value of COL11A1 in breast cancer and its tumor immune-related function through in-depth bioinformatics analysis. The expression of COL11A1 is abnormally upregulated in breast cancer and is significantly related to the poor prognosis of breast cancer. In the analysis of the clinical characteristics of the patients, we found that the expression level of COLL11A1 was closely related to lymph node metastasis, PAM50 (Prediction Analysis of Microarray 50) expression, clinical stage and so on. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Gene and Genome (KEGG) all suggest that COL11A1 is related to tumor immunity. Further study found that the COL11A1 expression was significantly correlated with the degree of immune infiltration and the expression of a variety of immune cell markers in tumor tissue. More importantly, COL11A1 can affect the prognosis of breast cancer patients by participating in the regulation of tumor immune infiltration. Therefore, we believe that COL11A1 is a very potential target for diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

Dusky-like (Dyl) is a transmembrane protein containing a zona pellucida domain. Its physiological roles during metamorphosis have been well explored in Drosophila melanogaster and have also been documented in Tribolium castaneum. However, Dyl has undergone a functional shift between Diptera and Coleoptera insects. Further investigation of Dyl in other insects will be helpful to further clarify its function in insect growth and development. Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata is an important Coleoptera that causes enormous economic losses in agriculture in China. In this study, we found that the expression of Hvdyl was detectable in embryos, larvae, prepupae, pupae, and adults. We knocked down Hvdyl in third- and fourth-instar larvae and pupae with RNA interference (RNAi). RNAi of Hvdyl mainly caused two phenotypic defects. Firstly, the growth of epidermal cellular protuberances was suppressed. Injection of dsdyl (double-stranded dusky-like RNA) at the third-instar larval stage truncated the scoli throughout the thorax and abdomen and shortened the setae on the head capsules and mouthparts of the fourth-instar larvae. Introduction of dsdyl at the third- and fourth-instar stages led to misshapen pupal setae. The setae were shortened or became black nodules. Treatment with dsdyl at the larval and pupal stages resulted in deformed adults with completely suppressed wing hairs. Moreover, the knockdown of Hvdyl at the third-instar stage caused deformed larval mouthparts at the fourth-instar period. As a result, foliage consumption was inhibited, and larval growth was slowed. The results indicate that Dyl is associated with the growth of cellular protuberances throughout development and with the formation of the cuticle in H. vigintioctopunctata.

To promote understanding of lithospheric-atmospheric interactions during seismic activity, this study investigated the spatial and temporal variations of aerosol optical depth (AOD) associated with eight recent strong earthquakes (EQs; Mw > 8.0) with focal depths of less than 30 km. All EQs occurred after 2009 and therefore have AQUA satellite moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer data for the EQ-affected areas. This study aims to extract aerosol anomalies before and after large EQs along the coastline. Spatially, AOD anomalies occurred around the EQ epicenters at a monthly scale with longer duration prior to the EQ compared to that after EQ, which may be related to the ground stress variation. Generally, AOD spatial variations increased, then decreased, and finally increased again before returning to normal levels over an 8-day time frame around each event. Temporally, at an annual scale, high anomalous AOD values (> 3.0) appeared before all eight strong EQs with high frequencies of anomalous AOD values occurring both prior to and after EQs. Compared with the control values, AOD values within the affected areas showed an abnormal uplift and downtrend before each EQ event. The AOD values over the control pixels were significantly lower than those over the selected AOD anomaly pixels during the same periods. To eliminate the potential bias from satellites, the result of AERONET daily average AOD data at 500 nm showed that a sudden increase of AOD appeared before and after EQs. AOD anomalies occurred before, during, and after each of the eight strong EQs in offshore regions, partially because of the release of surface latent heat and related atmospheric reactions that increased aerosol concentrations, excluding the effects of the wind field near the earth. The mechanisms behind these AOD anomalies still need to be identified.

The China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite, launched into orbit from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre on February 2nd, 2018 , is China’s first space satellite dedicated to geophysical exporation. The satellite carries eight scientific payloads including high-precision magnetometers to detect electromagnetic changes in space, in particular changes associated with global earthquake disasters. In order to encourage and facilitate use by geophysical scientists of data from the satellite’s payloads, this paper introduces the application systems developed for the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite by the Institute of Crustal Dynamics, China Earthquake Administration; these include platform construction, data classification, data storage, data format, and data access and acquisition.

Driven by the objective of earthquake disaster prevention and mitigation, China launched the Zhangheng mission to build a stereoscopic earthquake monitoring system from the lithosphere to space. This report briefly presents the possible seismic ionospheric disturbances recorded by the first probe of the Zhangheng mission, which is known as the China-Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES). The routine data preprocessing and seismo-ionospheric information analysis methods are briefly introduced. The possible seismo-ionospheric disturbances that appeared during the strong shallow earthquakes (with a magnitude over 7 and a depth shallower than 30 km) are analyzed by using CSES and other multi-source data. Investigating seismo-ionospheric mechanisms requires multidisciplinary knowledge involving geophysics, atmosphere/ionosphere physics, geochemistry/atmospheric chemistry, etc. We state that the results from the CSES scientific application center are preliminary, calling for international scientists to contribute to the seismo-ionospheric perturbation phenomena, which is one of the most challenging scientific problems.

This study reports the temporal and spatial distributions of the extremely/very low frequency (ELF/VLF) wave activities and the energetic electron fluxes in the ionosphere during an intense storm (geomagnetic activity index Dst of approximately −174 nT) that occurred on 26 August 2018, based on the observations by a set of detectors onboard the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES). A good correlation of the ionospheric ELF/VLF wave activities with energetic electron precipitations during the various storm evolution phases was revealed. The strongest ELF/VLF emissions at a broad frequency band extending up to 20 kHz occurred from the near-end main phase to the early recovery phase of the storm, while the wave activities mainly appeared at the frequency range below 6 kHz during other phases. Variations in the precipitating fluxes were also spotted in correspondence with changing geomagnetic activity, with the max values primarily appearing outside of the plasmapause during active conditions. The energetic electrons at energies below 1.5 MeV got strong enhancements during the whole storm time on both the day and night side. Examinations of the half-orbit data showed that under the quiet condition, the CSES was able to depict the outer/inner radiation belt as well as the slot region well, whereas under disturbed conditions, such regions became less sharply defined. The regions poleward from geomagnetic latitudes over 50° were found to host the most robust electron precipitation regardless of the quiet or active conditions, and in the equatorward regions below 30°, flux enhancements were mainly observed during storm time and only occasionally in quiet time. The nightside ionosphere also showed remarkable temporal variability along with the storm evolution process but with relatively weaker wave activities and similar level of fluxes enhancement compared to the ones in the dayside ionosphere. The ELF/VLF whistler-mode waves recorded by the CSES mainly included structure-less VLF waves, structured VLF quasi-periodic emissions, and structure-less ELF hiss waves. A wave vector analysis showed that during storm time, these ELF/VLF whistler-mode waves obliquely propagated, mostly likely from the radiation belt toward the Earth direction. We suggest that energetic electrons in the high latitude ionosphere are most likely transported from the outer radiation belt as a consequence of their interactions with ELF/VLF waves.

Abstract Background Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) is an inevitable pathophysiological process during heart transplantation, and ferroptosis is an important pathogenic mechanism. Unlike other modes of cell death, ferroptosis depends on the accumulation of iron within the cell and the oxidative degradation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Dysregulation of this pathway has been linked to the progression of multiple pathological conditions, making it an attractive target for therapeutic intervention. Therefore, this study aims to explore the effect of ferroptosis on I/R during heart transplantation. Methods GEO2R was applied to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) obtained from GSE50884 data, which was involved in I/R and heart transplantation. And ferroptosis-related DEGs (FRDEGs) were screened by venn diagram with ferroptosis-related genes downloaded from FerDb database. FRDEGs was enriched and analyzed by GO and KEGG, and hub genes related to ferroptosis were screened by Cytoscape software and database STRING. Additionally, considering the relationship between ferroptosis and immunity, CIBERSORTx was to analyze the infiltration of 22 kinds of immune cells in I/R during heart transplantation, and the correlation between each immune cell and the expression of FRDEGs was also discussed. Finally, the mouse model of heart transplantation with I/R was constructed, and the hub genes was verified by RT-qPCR and western blot. Results 12 FRDEGs were identified out of 327 DEGs in GSE50844, which were mainly involved in ferroptosis and other pathways. Three hub genes (SLC7A11, PSAT1, ASNS) were obtained by the degree algorithm of cytohubba plug-in. Immunoinfiltration analysis showed that 16 of 22 immune cells changed, and the immune score of heart transplantation with I/R was higher than that without I/R. In addition, hub genes exhibited significant correlation with Eosinophils, NK cells resting, Dendritic cells resting, NK cells activated and T cells CD4 memory activated. We verified the expression of SLC7A11, PSAT1 and ASNS was higher than that in normal tissues using RT-qPCR and western blot in mouse models of heart transplantation with I/R, companied by ferroptosis aggravated is involved. Conclusions In short, ferroptosis is involved in I/R injury during heart transplantation, which is related to immune cell infiltration. Three hub genes (SLC7A11, PSAT1 and ASNS) identified in this study provide therapeutic targets for ameliorating I/R injury in heart transplantation.

Nowadays, the optical voltage sensor (OVS) has become the best practical solution for the high voltage measurement in modern smart grid. And the polarization of the incident light greatly influences the sensor's measurement accuracy. In this paper, taking the radial polarization optical voltage sensor (RPOVS) as an example, its practical optical model is established by using the theory of polarized optics. The formula of the measurement relative error is obtained, and the influences of the ellipticity and extinction ratio on sensor performance are analyzed in detail. Then the suggestions are given and verified by simulations and experiments, which show the measurement error brought by the polarizer parameters to RPOVS is reduced by about 0.2%, promoting the sensor's realization of 0.2 accuracy class from the aspect of optical path. ABSTRACT Background Revealing the clinical manifestations and associations of COVID‐19 before and after negative transition remains an area of significant uncertainty. The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical characteristics observed during and after Omicron infection among a specific population, namely healthcare workers (HCWs). Methods From November 4, 2022, to January 15, 2023, HCWs in our hospital were enrolled to document clinical symptoms, prevention, and treatment for COVID‐19 using a structured questionnaire. Results A total of 1101 HCWs were included, with SARS‐CoV‐2 infection detected in 78.20% (861/1101) during the observation period. The median duration for nucleic acid conversion was 8 days. Forty‐three symptoms were identified during SARS‐CoV‐2 infection (11 symptoms per individual). The common symptoms were fever, cough, headache, phlegm production, and fatigue (60.67%–83.29%). These symptoms can be further categorized into five groups: fever type, upper respiratory tract type, influenza type, digestive system type, and systemic type—all showing complex and diverse patterns. Following SARS‐CoV‐2 infection, a total of 19 symptoms were recorded including four newly emerged ones: reduced lung capacity, memory loss, lethargy, and inattention. Importantly, we observed a significant association between gastrointestinal symptoms during the nucleic acid positive phase and subsequent neuropsychiatric manifestations after negative conversion. Interestingly, females experiencing menstruation or pregnancy exhibited a higher risk of infection, while inhaled vaccines and thymosin demonstrated a protective effect against SARS‐CoV‐2 infection. Conclusions The clinical manifestations observed in HCWs during and after Omicron infection displayed intricate patterns, shedding new light on the complex interplay between SARS‐CoV‐2 and humans.

BackgroundPrevious studies primarily focused on the effects of ALT and virology, but there is a lack of research on the correlations of HBcrAg and pgRNA, two novel virologic markers, with immunological parameters in pregnant women with CHB undergoing prophylactic antiviral intervention.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective cohort study involving 28 HBeAg-positive pregnant women with CHB undergoing prophylactic antiviral intervention. Clinical data, virological markers (HBV DNA, HBsAg, HBeAg, HBcrAg and pgRNA) and 28 cytokines were detected at three time points: 24-28 weeks gestation (before prophylactic antiviral intervention), near birth and within 3 months postpartum.ResultsPgRNA was moderately (correlation coefficient between 0.4 and 0.6) positively correlated with Th1-type cytokines (IFN-γ, IL12p70, IL2, and TNF-α), Th17-type cytokines (IL21), Th2-type cytokines (IL10, IL4, and IL5), and cytokines regulating cell proliferation and differentiation (CTLA4, IL15, IL23, and TGF-β1) and moderately negatively correlated with EGF (correlation coefficient = -0.4), while ALT, HBV-DNA, HBsAg and HBcrAg were insignificantly correlated with cytokines at 24-28 weeks of gestation. Most cytokines tended to be elevated, with statistically significant increases observed only for the chemokines IP10 and MCP-1 during pregnancy. Most cytokines were significantly increased in postpartum women with virologic rebound after treatment discontinuation postpartum, but no significant change in the Th1/Th2 ratio. Changes in virologic markers were significantly correlated with cytokines. Immune activation was more pronounced in postpartum women who developed ALT flare compared to who did not, with Th1-type cytokines (especially IL12p40) and chemokines being main differential cytokines.ConclusionPgRNA was more closely correlated with cytokine profiles, and postpartum ALT flare may be the result of the interaction between Th1-type cytokines and chemokines.

Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) pose significant environmental and health risks due to their ubiquitous presence and persistence in water systems. Herein, the efficacy of piezocatalysis using barium titanate nanoparticles under ultrasound irradiation for the degradation and defluorination of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in water is investigated. The research demonstrates a substantial 90.5% degradation and 29% defluorination of PFOS after 6 h of treatment, highlighting the potential of piezocatalysis as a promising approach for PFAS degradation. Additionally, the quantification of degradation products elucidates the transformation pathways of PFOS, suggesting a stepwise chain‐shortening mechanism. The findings underscore the importance of continued research in optimizing piezocatalytic processes and exploring synergistic approaches with other advanced oxidation methods to effectively address PFAS contamination challenges. These efforts are essential for advancing sustainable water treatment strategies and mitigating the environmental and health hazards associated with PFAS contamination.

Abstract Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) emerged as versatile materials with promising potential in biomedicine. Their customizable functionalities and tunable pore structures make them valuable for various biomedical applications such as biosensing, bioimaging, antimicrobial activity, and targeted drug delivery. Despite efforts made to create nanoscale COFs (nCOFs) to enhance their interaction with biological systems, a comprehensive understanding of their inherent biological activities remains a significant challenge. In this study, a thorough investigation is conducted into the biocompatibility and anti‐neoplastic properties of two distinct imine‐based nCOFs. The approach involved an in‐depth analysis of these nCOFs through in vitro experiments with various cell types and in vivo assessments using murine models. These findings revealed significant cytotoxic effects on tumor cells. Moreover, the activation of multiple cellular death pathways, including apoptosis, necroptosis, and ferroptosis is determined, supported by evidence at the molecular level. In vivo evaluations exhibited marked inhibition of tumor growth, associated with the elevated spontaneous accumulation of nCOFs in tumor tissues and the modulation of cell death‐related protein expression. The research contributes to developing a roadmap for the characterization of the intricate interactions between nCOFs and biological systems and opens new avenues for exploiting their therapeutic potential in advanced biomedical applications.
