1. Quantumness protection for open systems in a double-layer environment

Abstract

We study the dynamics of the two-level atomic systems (qubits) under a double-layer environment that is consisted of a network of single-mode cavities coupled to a common reservoir. A general exact master equation for the dynamics can be obtained by the quantum-state-diffusion (QSD) equation. The quantumness of the atoms including coherence and entanglement is investigated within various configurations of the external environment. It is shown that the preservation and generation of the quantumness can be controlled by regulating the parameters of the cavity network. Moreover the underlying physics of the results can be profoundly revealed by an effective model via a unitary transformation. Our work provides an interesting proposal in protecting the quantumness of open systems in the framework of a double-layer environment containing bosonic modes., Comment: 12 pages, 9 figures

Abstract

Dynamic texture is a spatially repetitive, time-varying visual pattern that forms an image sequence with some spatio-temporal stationary properties. This paper proposes a dynamic texture classification algorithm based on the magnitude information and the phase information in dual-tree complex wavelet transform domain. The variance and entropy of the complex wavelet coefficients are used to form the dynamic texture feature vector. Experimental results show that the algorithm has a good effect and performance on dynamic texture classification.

37. Texture Segmentation Using Kernel-based Techniques.

Abstract

Texture segmentation is an important component in texture analysis. Gabor wavelet shows potential capacity in describing the texture. Kernel-based methods have demonstrated excellent performances in a variety of pattern recognition problems. This paper extracts texture features in the Gabor wavelet transform domain and segments the computed feature image with kernel-based techniques, Spectral Clustering Algorithm (SCA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Due to the severe computational complexity of kernel-based techniques, we split the main segmentation process into two steps. SCA is firstly applied to the sampled feature image. Then the clustering result serves as training samples and is used to train SVM. The initial segmentation result is obtained by labeling the feature image with the trained SVM. A median filter is employed to improve the segmentation result. Four mosaic texture images and a natural scene are used to test our new algorithm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

38. First Principle Calculation of Anti-Ferromagnetic Characteristics of Zn0.875Co0.125O

Abstract

A variety of different magnetic structure models of cobalt doped zinc oxide have been calculated by density functional theory (DFT) of first-principle method. Crystal structure parameters and the total energy of the models are obtained through the computational simulation. Through contrasting and analyzing the total energy of each of the structure models, it is found that the cobalt doped zinc oxide crystal material with anti-ferromagnetic state is more stable than the one with ferromagnetic state. The electronic structure of the models with anti-ferromagnetic is investigated and the results show that the cobalt 3d electrons have a great impact on the characteristics of the electronic structure of the zinc oxide.

39. Preparation and Electrochemical Properties of VO2(B) Nano-Belts

Abstract

The VO2(B) nanobelts with monoclinic phase were synthesized by a hydrothermal method at 220℃ for 48 h in the absence of any surfactants. The electron energy loss spectrum (EELS) demonstrates that vanadium exists only in the 4+ oxidation state. The SEM and TEM images reveal a belt-like structure of the VO2(B) with the length of several micrometers, the width of 140 nm and the thickness of around 20nm and growth along the [110] crystal direction. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge demonstrate that VO2(B) nano-belts electrode exhibits desirable electrochemical properties and the specific capacitance reaches up to 632.6F•g-1.
