Abstract There is not only thrust but also normal force between the primary and secondary components for the single‐side flat plate permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). The normal force will fluctuate periodically, which will cause friction perturbation and finally affect the positioning accuracy of linear feed system. For the single‐side flat plate PMLSM, the variation law of normal force ripple under the coupling effect of multiple effects is studied, and the method of primary component segmental design to suppress it is proposed. Firstly, the influence of the cogging effect, the end effect and the armature reaction on the normal force ripple is analysed. Meanwhile the mathematical model of normal force ripple is established. Secondly, the PMLSM with segmental primary component is introduced and its suppression mechanism to the normal force ripple is expounded. On this basis, a scheme combining the non‐integer pole slot matching with the primary component segmental design is proposed to further suppress the normal force ripple. Finally, an 18‐slot 96/5‐pole prototype is taken as an example to carry out the finite element simulation and experimental test, of which the results verify the research theory in this paper.

Assisted reproductive technology(ART) faces challenges such as low embryo implantation rates due to uterine factors, and infertility caused by ovarian function suppression and abnormal semen. Platelet-rich plasma(PRP), which is rich in various bioactive substances, can play an anti-inflammatory role and promote cell proliferation, vascular regeneration and injury healing, and is now a hot topic in ART. This paper describes the relevant research on PRP in ART for clinical reference, aiming to standardize the application of PRP in ART and provide a new treatment for infertile couples.

Objective To investigate additional exclusion criteria for therapeutic apheresis erythrocytes and the possibility of adverse reactions by analyzing the occurrence of rare adverse reactions in two patients who underwent therapeutic erythrocytes apheresis. Methods Erythrocytes were harvested by apheresis from two patients with indications for therapeutic erythrocytes collection for preservation or discarding. Results One case experienced persistent atrial fibrillation and a gout attack after the collection, while another case experienced persistent hypotension during the collection and a subsequent reduction in haemoglobin levels after collection Conclusion To reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, it is essential to have strict exclusion criteria for therapeutic erythrocytes apheresis and to enhance the monitoring of whole collection process in patients with atrial fibrillation and gout.

Manganese dioxide has been significantly utilized in zinc ion batteries (ZIBs). However, in the rechargeable battery system, the manganese dioxide cathode suffers from poor conductivity, volume expansion, and substance dissolution, resulting in low capacity and poor stability. Herein, a 3D frame structure MnO2@CNTs cathode is proposed. In this system, the electrodeposited spherical MnO2 is anchored and interlinked via the in‐situ growth carbon nanotubes (CNTs) onto the carbon cloth. Benefiting the unique 3D frame structure, the MnO2 structure crush problem and the pathway of the electrons and ions are dramatically improved. The optimized MnO2@CNTs cathode demonstrate a high capacity of 256.35 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1 and exceptional cycling stability. Furthermore, in‐situ Raman spectroscopy elucidates the energy storage mechanism of aqueous ZIBs (AZIBs). Moreover, COMSOL finite elements analysis demonstrates that the petal edge‐rich nanostructures of MnO2@CNTs generate a localized high electric field under constant current, accelerating ion/electron transfer. This work explains the rationale for CNTs to improve the properties of MnO2 cathodes, providing a new perspective for the design of high‐performance batteries.

To reveal the dynamic mechanical characteristics of deep rocks, a series of impact tests under triaxial static stress states corresponding to depths of 300–2400 m were conducted. The results showed that both the strain rates and the stress environments in depth significantly affect the mechanical characteristics of rocks. The sensitivity of strain rate to the dynamic strength and deformation modulus shows a negative correlation with depth, indicating that producing penetrative cracks in deep environments is more difficult when damage occurs. The dynamic strength shows a tendency to decrease and then increase slightly, but decreases sharply finally. Transmissivity demonstrates a similar trend as that of strength, whereas reflectivity indicates the opposite trend. Furthermore, two critical depths with high dynamically induced hazard possibilities based on the China Jinping Underground Laboratory (CJPL) were proposed for deep engineering. The first critical depth is 600–900 m, beyond which the sensitivity of rock dynamic characteristics to the strain rate and restraint of circumferential stress decrease, causing instability of surrounding rocks under axial stress condition. The second one lies at 1500–1800 m, where the wave impedance and dynamic strength of deep surrounding rocks drop sharply, and the dissipation energy presents a negative value. It suggests that the dynamic instability of deep surrounding rocks can be divided into dynamic load dominant and dynamic load induced types, depending on the second critical depth.

In deep carbonate reservoirs, testing and production with open-hole completion can help release the maximum production capacity. However, because the reservoir is subjected to high in situ stress, if the test pressure differential is too large, the wellbore collapse and instability will occur easily, causing downhole accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the state of the borehole during the open-hole test in the carbonate reservoir and analyze the ultimate test pressure differential accordingly to ensure test safety. Considering the characteristics of open-hole completion, based on the mechanical properties of the carbonate reservoir and the stress distribution around the borehole during testing, a calculation method of the elastic zone, plastic zone, and residual failure zone around the open-hole wellbore was proposed. Regarding actual engineering data, a criterion for the overall stability of the open-hole section had been established from three aspects: the volume ratio of the plastic zone; the failure zone around the wellbore; and the failure angle on the borehole wall. According to this criterion, it is possible to determine the ultimate pressure differential during the open-hole test process and provide theoretical support for designing the open-hole completion test and production parameters for deep carbonate reservoirs.

Objective To retrospectively analyze the effect of AB platelet secondary compatible transfusion on the efficacy of matched platelet transfusion. Methods A total of 2 276 cases of platelet transfusion in our hospital were selected from November 2020 to September 2021, including 2 068 ABO matched platelet transfusions and 206 AB platelet secondary compatible transfusions. 117 cases were selected for the first occasion of AB platelet secondary compatible transfusion. The controls were matched transfusion receipts before given AB platelet secondary compatible transfusion, and the experimental group was given matched transfusion after AB platelet secondary compatible transfusion (take the first, second and third transfusion as group 1, 2 and 3, respectively). The platelet count(Plt), platelet elevation (△Plt) and 24 h Plt correction increase index (CCI) of patients before and after platelet transfusion were used as observation indexes to analyze the effect of AB type mis-matched platelet transfusion on the efficacy of matched platelet preventive transfusion by gender, blood type and disease type. Results Among the 2 276 platelet transfusions, and the △Plt of matched platelet transfusions was significantly higher than that of AB type secondary compatible transfusions, with the mean values at (14±15)×109/L and (11±14)×109/L(P0.05). The △Plt of the experimental group 3 was significantly lower compared with the experimental group 1, (10±13) ×109/L vs (14±12) ×109/L, P0.05. No significant difference in △Plt and the number of effective 24 h CCI cases was found between the experimental group and the control group in terms of gender, blood type and disease type (P>0.05). Conclusion The △Plt and the effective rate of AB platelet secondary compatible transfusion were lower than those of matched platelet transfusions, and has no significant effect on short term(less than 10 days) matched platelet transfusion.

Abstract Objectives The risk and beneficial factors of early discharge after thoracoscopic anatomic lung cancer surgery are unknown, and this study aims to investigate predictors and associated 30‐day readmission for early discharge. Methods We performed a single‐center retrospective analysis of 10,834 consecutive patients who underwent thoracoscopic anatomic lung cancer surgery. Two groups were determined based on discharge date: “discharged by postoperative Day 2” and “discharged after postoperative Day 2.” Univariable and multivariable analysis were conducted to identify predictors for discharge. Using propensity score matching (PSM) to compare 30‐day readmission rate between two cohorts. Results A total of 1911 patients were discharged by postoperative Day 2. Abstract Background It is true that Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) will increase social burden, especially in developing countries. Urban-rural differences in the lagged effects of PM2.5 and PM10 on COPD mortality remain unclear, in Chongqing, China. Methods In this study, a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNMs) was established to describe the urban-rural differences in the lagged effects of PM2.5, PM10 and COPD mortality in Chongqing, using 312,917 deaths between 2015 and 2020. Results According to the DLNMs results, COPD mortality in Chongqing increases with increasing PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations, and the relative risk (RR) of the overall 7-day cumulative effect is higher in rural areas than in urban areas. High values of RR in urban areas occurred at the beginning of exposure (Lag 0 ~ Lag 1). High values of RR in rural areas occur mainly during Lag 1 to Lag 2 and Lag 6 to Lag 7. Conclusion Exposure to PM2.5 and PM10 is associated with an increased risk of COPD mortality in Chongqing, China. COPD mortality in urban areas has a high risk of increase in the initial phase of PM2.5 and PM10 exposure. There is a stronger lagging effect at high concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 exposure in rural areas, which may further exacerbate inequalities in levels of health and urbanization.

BackgroundThe complex and diverse occupational disease hazards in automobile manufacturing industry pose high occupational health risks to workers. ObjectiveTo explore the methods that can accurately reflect the workplace health risk grade of automobile manufacturing enterprises, and to guide enterprises to practice risk classification management. MethodsComprehensive index method, International Commission on Mining and Metals occupational health risk assessment method (ICMM method), and risk index method were used toassess health risks of occupational disease hazards in major workstations such as welding, polishing, and painting in three automobile manufacturing enterprises in Hunan Province. Kappa consistency test was used to test the grading results of the three assessment methods. The re-examine results and detection rate of contraindications of occupational health examinations in the past three years were used to verify the assessment results. ResultsThe results of comprehensive index method showed that the hazards of each selected workstation in enterprises A and B were evaluated as grade 2-3, among which NO2 in enterprise A was grade 3, and welding fume, NO2, and formaldehyde in enterprise B were all grade 3. The hazards of each selected workstation in enterprise C were grade 3-4, among which NO2 and benzene in were grade 4, and welding fume, manganese and its compounds, grinding wheel dust, and xylene were grade 3. The hazards evaluated by ICMM quantitative method were grade 2 and grade 5, among which manganese and its compounds in enterprise A and welding fume, grinding wheel dust, and benzene series in enterprise C were graded as grade 5. The hazards evaluated by risk index method were grade 1-4, among which manganese and its compounds in enterprises A and B were grade 3, and manganese and its compounds and benzene in enterprise C were grade 4. The Kappa value between comprehensive index method and ICMM method was 0.084 (P>0.05), that between comprehensive index method and risk index method was −0.046 (P>0.05), and that between ICMM method and risk index method was 0.014 (P>0.05), indicating poor consistency. By comparing the results of occupational health surveillance with the results of occupational health risk assessment, one worker was found to have occupational contraindication of manganese exposure and 1 worker was found to have excessive manganese in hair in enterprise A. However, the comprehensive index method graded low risk for manganese and its compounds in enterprise A and the result is conservative. The key workstations identified by ICMM method were consistent with the occupational health examination results, but the assessment grades were all extremely high risk, and the results were too strict. One worker was found to be contraindicated to welding fumes, and 2 polishers were found to have severe mixed pulmonary ventilation dysfunction in enterprise C. Mild and moderate pulmonary ventilation dysfunction was found to be common in welding and polishing workstations in each enterprise. The assessment results of welding fumes and grinding wheel dust by the risk index method were negligible risks, which were inconsistent with the occupational health examination results. ConclusionThe comprehensive index method, ICMM method, and risk index method can basically identify workstations with serious occupational hazards, but they have certain limitations and applicability. In general, the evaluation results of the comprehensive index method were generates more consistent with the results with occupational health surveillance than the other two methods, is more comprehensive and objective in consideration, and is more suitable for health risk assessment of automobile manufacturing enterprises.

BackgroundThe mining of non-coal underground mines may come into contact with various types of dust, such as lead, zinc, copper, and non-metallic minerals. Dust of various kinds commonly exists in all aspects of mining and selection, and is one of the main occupational hazard groups in non-coal underground mines. ObjectiveTo compare the application of two risk assessment methods in the occupational health risk assessment of productive dust in non-coal underground mines, and to provide a reference for the selection of dust hazard health risk assessment methods and the management of dust hazards in non-coal mines. MethodsA field investigation of the dust hazards of three typical non-coal underground mining enterprises (lead-zinc mines, copper mines, and fluorite mines) was carried out, and the comprehensive index method and the occupational health risk assessment method from the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) were used to perform risk assessments. The comprehensiveindex method considers the following factors: dust monitoring data, the aerodynamic diameter of dust, hazard control measures, occupational health management, daily usage, and daily exposure time to determine exposure levels. The ICMM method determines the risk level based on the consequences caused by dust, exposure probability, exposure time, and uncertainty coefficient. Kendall consistency test was used to compare agreement between the results generated by the two methods. ResultsThe results generated by the comprehensive index method were as follows: level 3 (medium risk) or level 4 (high risk) for silica dust or lead dust; level 1 (negligible risk) or level 2 (low risk) for other dust (dust with free SiO2 content

Abstract Acquired digestive‐respiratory tract fistulas occur with abnormal communication between the respiratory tract and digestive tract caused by a variety of benign or malignant diseases, leading to the alimentary canal contents in the respiratory tract. Although various departments have been actively exploring advanced fistula closure techniques, including surgical methods and multimodal therapy, some of which have gotten good clinical effects, there are few large‐scale evidence‐based medical data to guide clinical diagnosis and treatment. The guidelines update the etiology, classification, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of acquired digestive‐respiratory tract fistulas. It has been proved that the implantation of the respiratory and digestive stent is the most important and best treatment for acquired digestive‐respiratory tract fistulas. The guidelines conduct an in‐depth review of the current evidence and introduce in detail the selection of stents, implantation methods, postoperative management and efficacy evaluation.

Abstract Background Numerous reports have shown that medical treatment confers excellent survival benefits to patients with advanced stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the implications of surgery for primary lesions as palliative treatment remain inconclusive. Methods We retrospectively extracted clinical data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) database and selected patients with stage IV NSCLC. Patients were classified into non-surgery and surgery groups, and propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed to balance the baseline information. Patients in the surgery group, whose overall survival (OS) was longer than the median survival time of those in the non-surgery group, were deemed to benefit from surgery. We evaluated the efficacy of three surgical techniques, namely, local destruction, sub-lobectomy, and lobectomy, on the primary site in the beneficial population. Summary: Corneal alkali burn remains a clinical challenge in ocular emergency, necessitating the development of effective therapeutic drugs. Here, we observed the arachidonic acid metabolic disorders of corneas induced by alkali burns and aimed to explore the role of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), a critical metabolite of arachidonic acid, in the repair of alkali-burned corneas. We found a moderate dosage of PGE2 promoted the alkali-burned corneal epithelial repair, whereas a high dosage of PGE2 exhibited a contrary effect. This divergent effect is attributed to different dosages of PGE2 regulating ANXA1 expression differently. Mechanically, a high dosage of PGE2 induced higher GATA3 expression, followed by enhanced GATA3 binding to the ANXA1 promoter to inhibit ANXA1 expression. In contrast, a moderate dosage of PGE2 increased CREB1 phosphorylation and reduced GATA3 binding to the ANXA1 promoter, promoting ANXA1 expression. We believe PGE2 and its regulatory target ANXA1 could be potential drugs for alkali-burned corneas.

Abstract Background There are regional differences in the effect of green space on mortality of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We conduct an ecological study, using the administrative divisions of Chongqing townships in China as the basic unit, to investigate the association between COPD mortality and green space based on data of 313,013 COPD deaths in Chongqing from 2012 to 2020. Green space is defined by Fractional vegetation cover (FVC), which is further calculated based on the normalised vegetation index (NDVI) from satellite remote sensing imagery maps. Methods After processing the data, the non-linear relationship between green space and COPD mortality is revealed by generalised additive models; the spatial differences between green space and COPD mortality is described by geographically weighted regression models; and finally, the interpretive power and interaction of each factor on the spatial distribution of COPD mortality is examined by a geographic probe. Results The results show that the FVC local regression coefficients ranged from − 0.0397 to 0.0478, 63.0% of the regions in Chongqing have a positive correlation between green space and COPD mortality while 37.0% of the regions mainly in the northeast and west have a negative correlation. The interpretive power of the FVC factor on the spatial distribution of COPD mortality is 0.08. Conclusions Green space may be a potential risk factor for increased COPD mortality in some regions of Chongqing. This study is the first to reveal the relationship between COPD mortality and green space in Chongqing at the township scale, providing a basis for public health policy formulation in Chongqing.

Abstract Background Adiposity is widely recognized as one of the risk factors for high blood pressure (BP) and increasing adiposity is associated with elevated BP. However, which measures of adiposity could be most strongly associated with BP in multi-ethnic population remains uncertain, giving rise to implications that population-based adiposity measures could be necessary. Methods 80,000 multi-ethnic adults recruited from 5 provinces across Southwest China during 2018 ~ 2019 were studied. Multiple linear regression was applied to investigate the associations of systolic blood pressure (SBP) with: (1) two measures of general adiposity, body mass index (BMI) and height-adjusted weight; and (2) three measures of central adiposity, waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC) and waist hip ratio (WHR). Results Two distinct population-specific patterns were identified, as “BMI to SBP” and “WC to SBP”. 90% of the participants fall into “BMI to SBP” pattern, in which the associations of SBP with BMI were independent of WC, and SBP-WC associations were considerably decreased by adjustment for BMI. And in this pattern, 10 kg/m2 greater BMI was associated with 11.9 mm Hg higher SBP on average. As for the rest population (Han males in Yunnan and Tibetans in Lhasa), they are suited for “WC to SBP” pattern, 10 cm wider WC was associated with 3.4 mm Hg higher SBP. Conclusion Our results indicated that when selecting proper predictors for BP, population-specific adiposity measures are needed, considering ethnicity, sex and residing regions. A better understanding of adiposity and BP may better contribute to the potential clinical practices and developing precision application strategies.

For permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) working at trapezoidal speed for long time, high thrust brings high temperature rise, while low thrust limits dynamic performance. Thus, it is crucial to find a balance between temperature rise and dynamic performance. In this paper, a velocity planning model of the PMLSM at trapezoidal speed based on electromagnetic-fluid-thermal (EFT) field is proposed to obtain the optimal dynamic performance under temperature limitation. In this model, the winding loss is calculated considering the acceleration and deceleration time. The loss model is indirectly verified by the temperature rise experiment of an annular winding sample. The actual working conditions of the PMLSM are simulated by dynamic grid technology to research the influence of acceleration and deceleration on fluid flow in the air gap, and the variation rule of the thermal boundary condition is analyzed. Combined with the above conditions, the temperature rise of a coreless PMLSM (CPMLSM) under the rated working condition is calculated and analyzed in detail. Through this method and several iterations, the optimal dynamic performance under the temperature limitation is achieved. The result is verified by a comparison between simulation and prototype tests, which can help improve the dynamic performance.

Abstract In view of the important roles played by Kinetochore proteins in mitosis, we believed that they may contribute to the development and progression of human cancers, which has been reported recently elsewhere. Kinetochore-associated 1 (KNTC1) participates in the segregation of sister chromatids during mitosis, the effects of which on non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear. Here, we sought to identify the biological significance of KNTC1 in NSCLC. KNTC1 protein expression in NSCLC tissues was investigated by immunohistochemistry. Lentivirus delivered short hairpin RNA (shRNA) was utilized to establish KNTC1 silence NSCLC cell lines. The effects of KNTC1 depletion on NSCLC cell proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and tumor formation were analyzed by MTT assay, wound-healing assay, transwell assay, flow cytometry assay, and in nude mouse models in vivo. After KNTC1 reduction, NSCLC cell viability, proliferation, migration, and invasion were restrained. A xenograft tumor model was also provided to demonstrate the inhibited tumorigenesis in NSCLC. In addition, the downstream mechanism analysis indicated that KNTC1 depletion was positively associated with PSMB8. The findings of the present study suggested that KNTC1 may have a pivotal role in mediating NSCLC progression and may act as a novel therapeutic target for NSCLC.

In the deep well drilling process in the Fukang Depression of the Eastern Junggar Basin, rock fracturing issues and low rate of penetration (ROP) have posed significant challenges to drilling efficiency. Accurate predictions of ROP prior to drilling are of considerable value in this context. Precise predictions enable on-site engineering teams to proactively identify drilling difficulties and anticipate potential complex scenarios, facilitating them in designing preventive measures in advance, such as selecting appropriate drill bits, adjusting drilling parameters, or employing specific drilling techniques to address these issues. This, in turn, enhances drilling efficiency and greatly reduces drilling risks. Traditional mechanical-specific energy drilling rate models, despite their widespread use, exhibit significant disparities with actual results when predicting ROP. These models only consider the influence of drill bits, drilling tools, and some drilling parameters on ROP, failing to adequately account for the variations caused by engineering factors and failing to capture the interrelationships between various parameters, especially when dealing with complex subsurface formations in the Fukang Depression. Random forest is a non-parametric algorithm in the field of machine learning that is suitable for analyzing and predicting ROP affected by various complex and non-linear drilling parameters. This paper establishes a Random forest model based on a dataset containing multiple variables of logging parameters and the actual ROP. The model ranks and assesses the important feature parameters of ROP to reveal their impact. Additionally, the model uses bootstrap sampling and feature random selection to construct multiple decision trees, reducing the risk of overfitting and endowing the model with a high generalization capability. Evaluation metrics indicate that the model exhibits a high prediction accuracy and performs well, significantly improving the accuracy of mechanical drilling rate predictions in the deep wells of the Fukang Depression. This model provides robust support and serves as a positive demonstration for addressing mechanical drilling rate issues in complex subsurface formations in the future.

Abstract Background Hydrocephalus is a severe complication of intracerebral hemorrhage with ventricular extension (ICH-IVH) and causes cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) accumulation. The choroid plexus epithelium plays an important role in CSF secretion and constitutes the blood–CSF barrier within the brain–immune system interface. Although the NLRP3 inflammasome, as a key component of the innate immune system, promotes neuroinflammation, its role in the pathogenesis of hydrocephalus after hemorrhage has not been investigated. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the potential mechanism of NLRP3 in hydrocephalus to discover a potential marker for targeted therapy. Methods A rat model of hydrocephalus after ICH-IVH was developed through autologous blood infusion in wild-type and Nlrp3−/− rats. By studying the features and processes of the model, we investigated the relationship between the NLRP3 inflammasome and CSF hypersecretion in the choroid plexus. Results The ICH-IVH model rats showed ventricular dilation accompanied by CSF hypersecretion for 3 days. Based on the choroid plexus RNA-seq and proteomics results, we found that an inflammatory response was activated. The NLRP3 inflammasome was investigated, and the expression levels of NLRP3 inflammasome components reached a peak at 3 days after ICH-IVH. Inhibition of NLRP3 by an MCC950 inflammasome inhibitor or Nlrp3 knockout decreased CSF secretion and ventricular dilation and attenuated neurological deficits after ICH-IVH. The mechanism underlying the neuroprotective effects of NLRP3 inhibition involved decreased phosphorylation of NKCC1, which is a major protein that regulates CSF secretion by altering Na+- and K+-coupled water transport, via MCC950 or Nlrp3 knockout. In combination with the in vitro experiments, this experiment confirmed the involvement of the NLRP3/p-NKCC1 pathway and Na+ and K+ flux. Conclusions This study demonstrates that NKCC1 phosphorylation in the choroid plexus epithelium promotes NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated CSF hypersecretion and that NLRP3 plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hydrocephalus after hemorrhage. These findings provide a new therapeutic strategy for treating hydrocephalus.

Abstract Background Sleeve lobectomy is recognized as an alternative surgical operation to pneumonectomy because it preserves the most pulmonary function and has a considerable prognosis. In this study, we aimed to investigate the implications of residual status for patients after sleeve lobectomy. Methods In this retrospective cohort study, we summarized 58 242 patients who underwent surgeries from 2015 to 2018 in Shanghai Chest Hospital and found 456 eligible patients meeting the criteria. The status of R2 was excluded. The outcomes were overall survival (OS) and recurrence‐free survival (RFS). We performed a subgroup analysis to further our investigation. Results After the propensity score match, the baseline characteristic was balanced between two groups. The survival analysis showed no significant difference of overall survival and recurrence‐free survival between R0 and R1 groups (OS: p = 0.053; RFS: p = 0.14). In the multivariate Cox analysis, we found that the margin status was not a dependent risk factor to RFS (p = 0.119) and OS (p = 0.093). In the patients of R1, N stage and age were closely related to OS, but we did not find any significant risk variable in RFS for R1 status. In the subgroup analysis, R1 status may have a worse prognosis on patients with more lymph nodes examination. On further investigation, we demonstrated no differences among the four histological types of margin status. Conclusion In our study, we confirmed that the margin status after sleeve lobectomies was not the risk factor to prognosis. However, patients with more lymph nodes resection should pay attention to the margin status.

Abstract Background Neoadjuvant immunotherapy is emerging as novel effective intervention in lung cancer, but study to unearth effective surrogates indicating its therapeutic outcomes is limited. We investigated the genetic changes between non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with varied response to neoadjuvant immunotherapy and discovered highly potential biomarkers with indicative capability in predicting outcomes. Methods In this study, 3 adenocarcinoma and 11 squamous cell carcinoma NSCLC patients were treated by neoadjuvant immunotherapy with variated regimens followed by surgical resection. Treatment-naive FFPE or fresh tissues and blood samples were subjected to whole-exome sequencing (WES). Genetic alternations were compared between differently-responded patients. Findings were further validated in multiple public cohorts. Results DNA damage repair (DDR)-related InDel signatures and DDR-related gene mutations were enriched in better-responded patients, i.e., major pathological response (MPR) group. Besides, MPR patients exhibited provoked genome instability and unique homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) events. By further inspecting alternation status of homology-dependent recombination (HR) pathway genes, the clonal alternations were exclusively enriched in MPR group. Additionally, associations between HR gene alternations, percentage of viable tumor cells and HRD event were identified, which orchestrated tumor mutational burden (TMB), mutational intratumor heterogeneity (ITH), somatic copy number alteration (SCNA) ITH and clonal neoantigen load in patients. Validations in public cohorts further supported the generality of our findings. Conclusions We reported for the first time the association between HRD event and enhanced neoadjuvant immunotherapy response in lung cancer. The power of HRD event in patient therapeutic stratification persisted in multifaceted public cohorts. We propose that HR pathway gene status could serve as novel and additional indicators guiding immune-neoadjuvant and immunotherapy treatment decisions for NSCLC patients.

Over the years, shale oil has been at the leading edge of oil exploration and also become the hotspot of reserve increases for various oil fields. The Permian Lucaogou Formation in the Jimsar Sag has been less extensively researched in terms of, among others, lithologic interpretation of fine-grained mixosedimentite, identification and classification of sedimentary microfacies, and sweet spot evaluation. The present study identifies the classification of sedimentary microfacies, characteristic distribution of sedimentary reservoir, and spatial configuration distribution of facies-controlled sweet spot body based on core logging, cutting logging, and data while drilling, combined with logging information, experimental analysis data, and production data with respect to formation test and production test and through the lithology identification based on element logging. This study indicated the following: 1) Microfacies of the reservoir body include a shallow lacustrine sand bar, mixing beach, and dolomitic flat. Different microfacies are adapted to different lithologies or lithological associations. 2) The lower sweet spots P2l12−3, P2l12−2, and P2l12−1 evolved into the dolomitic flat from mixing beach from NE to W. Also, the dolomitic flat is mostly developed in the west of the work area, and the mixing beach is better developed in the east. The shallow lacustrine sand bar is highly developed in the middle location, and the mixing beach and shallow lacustrine sand bar are highly developed on the northern and southern sides. 3) Sedimentary microfacies have evident controls over sweet spots. The upper sweet spots P2l22−3 and P2l22−2 are dominated by Class I sweet spots followed by Class II and IV sweet spots, which are major sweet spot reservoirs. The upper sweet spot P2l22−1 is mainly suffused with Class IV sweet spots, and the Class I reservoir is feldspathic litharenite (shallow lacustrine sand bar microfacies accordingly).

Objective We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the 1,565 nm non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL) in combination with isotretinoin and pricking blood therapy (PBT) for treatment of AV. Methods A retrospective analysis of 60 patients with moderate-to-severe AV was performed. Four groups (n = 15) were evaluated: 1,565nm NAFL alone, oral isotretinoin alone, double therapy (NAFL + isotretinoin) and triple therapy (NAFL + isotretinoin + PBT). Results The triple therapy showed the highest improvement rate of inflammatory papules and boxcar atrophic scars. The patients receiving oral isotretinoin alone, double or triple therapy showed a significant decrease in volume of boxcar atrophic scars. The NAFL alone, double or triple therapy significantly decreased index of hemoglobin. Furthermore, the triple therapy significantly decreased indexes of hemoglobin and red areas as compared to the other three treatments. All four treatments significantly decreased indexes of pore sizes and wrinkles. Conclusion This study showed that the triple therapy is effective for treatment of AV, which is worthy of further evaluation and investigation.

Abstract There have been significant advancements in medical techniques in the present epoch, with the emergence of some novel operative substitutes. However, the treatment of tracheal defects still faces tremendous challenges and there is, as yet, no consensus on tracheal and carinal reconstruction. In addition, surgical outcomes vary in different individuals, which results in an ambiguous future for tracheal surgery. Although transplantation was once an effective and promising method, it is limited by a shortage of donors and immune rejection. The development of bioengineering has provided an alternative for the treatment of tracheal defects, but this discipline is full of ethical controversy and hindered by limited cognition in this area. Meanwhile, progression of this technique is blocked by a deficiency in ideal materials. The trachea together with the carina is still the last unpaired organ in thoracic surgery and propososal of a favorable scheme to remove this dilemma is urgently required. In this review, four main tracheal reconstruction methods, especially surgical techniques, are evaluated, and a thorough interpretation conducted.

Abstract Novel cost‐effective fuel cells have become more attractive due to the demands for rare and expensive platinum‐group metal (PGM) catalysts for mitigating the sluggish kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The high‐cost PGM catalyst in fuel cells can be replaced by Earth‐abundant transition‐metal‐based catalysts, that is, an Fe–N–C catalyst, which is considered one of the most promising alternatives. However, the performance of the Fe–N–C catalyst is hindered by the low catalytic activity and poor stability, which is caused by insufficient active sites and the lack of optimization of the triple‐phase interface for mass transportation. Herein, a novel Fe–N–C catalyst consisting of mono‐dispersed hierarchically mesoporous carbon sphere cores and single Fe atom‐dispersed functional shells are presented. The synergistic effect between highly dispersed Fe‐active sites and well‐organized porous structures yields the combination of high ORR activity and high mass transfer performance. The half‐wave potential of the catalyst in 0.1 M H2SO4 is 0.82 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode, and the peak power density is 812 mW·cm−2 in H2–O2 fuel cells. Furthermore, it shows superior methanol tolerance, which is almost immune to methanol poisoning and generates up to 162 mW·cm−2 power density in direct methanol fuel cells.

Formation leak-off pressure, which sets the upper limit of the safe drilling fluid density window, is crucial for preventing wellbore accidents and ensuring safe and efficient drilling operations. The paper thoroughly examines models of drilling physics alongside artificial intelligence techniques. The study introduces a dual-driven method for predicting reservoir pore pressure by integrating long short-term memory (LSTM) and backpropagation (BP) neural networks, where the core component is the LSTM-BP neural network model. The input data for the LSTM-BP model include wellbore diameter, formation density, sonic time, natural gamma, mud content, and pore pressure. The study demonstrates the practical application of the method using two vertical wells in Block M, employing the M-1 well for training and the M-2 well for validation. Two distinct input layer configurations are devised for the LSTM-BP model to evaluate the influence of formation density on prediction accuracy. Notably, Scheme 2 omits formation density as a variable in contrast to Scheme 1. The study’s results indicate that, for input layer configurations corresponding to Scenario 1 and Scenario 2, the LSTM-BP model exhibits relative error ranges of (−2.467%, 2.510%) and (−6.141%, 5.201%) on the test set, respectively. In Scenario 1, the model achieves mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and R-squared (R2) values of 0.000229935, 0.011198329, and 0.92178272, respectively, on the test set. Conversely, for Scenario 2, the model demonstrates a substantial escalation of 992.393% and 240.674% in MSE and MAE, respectively, compared to Scenario 1; however, R2 diminishes by 66.920%. Utilizing the trained LSTM-BP model, predictions for formation lost pressure in Well M-2 reveal linear correlation coefficients of 0.8173 and 0.6451 corresponding to Scenario 1 and Scenario 2, respectively. These findings imply that the predictions from the Scenario 1 model demonstrate stronger alignment with results derived from formulaic calculations. These observations remain consistent for both the BP neural network algorithm and the random forest algorithm. The aforementioned research results not only highlight the elevated predictive precision of the LSTM-BP model for intelligent prediction of formation lost pressure, a product of this study, thereby furnishing valuable data points to enhance the security of drilling operations in Block M, but also underscore the necessity of deliberating both physical relevance and data correlation during the selection of input layer variables.

Communication between the maternal uterus and the embryo is vital for a successful pregnancy. Exosomes, subtypes of extracellular vesicles comprising many bioactive factors, regulate the early stages of pregnancy, specifically during embryo implantation. Nevertheless, the mechanism by which exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) derived from placental trophoblasts regulate embryo implantation remains elusive. We isolated and identified exosomes derived from placental trophoblast cells (HTR8/SVneo). Subsequently, we evaluated the loading miRNA in exosomes by small RNA sequencing. Consequently, we showed that trophoblast cell-derived exosomes could transfer to endometrial epithelial cells. Besides, these exosomes promoted the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) as well as migration of endometrial cells and were implicated in the regulation of inflammation. Further, the specific miRNAs were screened in exosomes, and as a result, miRNA (miR)-1290 was enriched specifically in exosomes. miR-1290 promoted the expression of inflammatory factors (interleukin [IL]-6 and IL-8) and migration of endometrial epithelial cells. In addition, exosomal miR-1290 promoted angiogenesis in vitro. More importantly, by targeting LHX6, trophoblast HTR8/SVneo cell-derived exosomal miR-1290 promoted the EMT process of endometrial epithelial cell HEC-1-A. Altogether, our findings provide novel insights into the mechanism of trophoblast cell-derived exosomes during embryo implantation.

Electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR) powered by renewable electricity is reckoned to provide an effective strategy to alleviate environmental issues and energy crisis, enabling a potential carbon neutral economy. To boost the ECR to fuels and value-added chemicals, the design of highly active and selective catalysts is important. In this study, we demonstrate facile ultrasonication-facilitated synthesis of two-dimensional copper terephthalate for efficient ECR. High faradaic efficiencies (FEs) of up to 72.9% for hydrocarbons are achieved at a mild overpotential in an H-type cell. In particular, the FE for ethylene (C2H4) formation approaches 50.0% at an applied potential of −1.1 V (vs. the reversible hydrogen electrode), outperforming commercial Cu, Cu2O, CuO, Cu(OH)2 and many recently reported Cu-based materials. The C2H4 partial geometric current density is as high as ∼6.0 mA·cm−2. This work offers a simple avenue to developing advanced electrocatalysts for converting CO2 into high-value hydrocarbons.

ObjectiveAn accurate BMI classification system specific to the population is of great value in health promotion. Existing studies have shown that the BMI recommended cut-off value for adults is not suitable for college students. Thus, the current study aims to identify optimal BMI cutoff points in obesity screening for Chinese college students.MethodsAnthropometric assessments were performed on 6,798 college students (Male = 3,408, Female = 3,390) from three universities in Jiangsu, China. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to establish the standardized models to estimate anthropometry for male and female students. Further indices were derived from the assessments, including body mass index (BMI), relative fat mass (RFM), obesity degree percentage (OBD%), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist circumference (WC), and body fat percentage (BF%). The anthropometric index with the highest correlation to the models for male and female students were selected as the gold standard for obesity screening. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was applied to evaluate diagnostic value of each anthropometric index according to the area under curve (AUC). Youden index maximum points determined the optimal cutoff points with the highest accuracy in obesity screening.ResultsThe anthropometric models for both male and female students consisted of three factors. Vervaeck index was selected as the gold standard for obesity screening. By comparing AUC of the anthropometric indices, we found BMI provided the highest value in obesity screening. Further analysis based on Youden index identified the optimal BMI of 23.53 kg/m2 for male and 23.41 kg/m2 for female. Compared with the universal standard recommended by World Health Organization (WHO), the adjusted BMI criteria were characterized by high sensitivity as well as specificity.ConclusionBMI is the most appropriate anthropometric index of obesity screening for Chinese college students. The optimal cutoff points were lower than the WHO reference. Evidence substantiated the adjusted BMI criteria as an effective approach to improve accuracy of obesity screening for this population.

Background: The expression of INMT (indolethylamine N-methyltransferase) has been reported to be downregulated in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the role of INMT in NSCLC remains elusive. We aim to investigate the underlying mechanisms and clinical value of INMT in NSCLC, especially in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).Methods: Gene expression cohorts from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) were analyzed to assess the effect of INMT on NSCLC. Gene expression data from an immunotherapy cohort were used to investigate the association of INMT with immunotherapy in NSCLC.Results: INMT expression was significantly downregulated in NSCLC compared with adjacent normal tissues. Downregulated INMT was associated with poor overall survival in LUAD, but not in lung squamous carcinoma. Multivariate Cox regression analysis suggested that INMT was an independent prognostic marker in LUAD. INMT had a reference value in the diagnosis and prognostic estimation of LUAD. Gene set enrichment analysis showed that pathways of the cell cycle and DNA damage response were enriched in the INMT low-expression group. The top 10 hub genes upregulated in the INMT low-expression group mainly activated the cell cycle pathway. In addition, more frequently mutated TP53 genes, higher aneuploidy scores, a fraction of genomes altered, MANTIS scores, and tumor mutation burden were found in tumors with low expression of INMT. Furthermore, patients with low expression of INMT showed favorable clinical benefits to anti-PD-1 treatment with higher enrichment scores of immune-related signatures.Conclusion: The low expression of INMT was associated with poor prognosis but favorable immunotherapy response in LUAD. INMT may affect the progression of LUAD by regulating the cell cycle and may serve as a valuable independent prognostic biomarker in patients with LUAD.

Resumo Fundamento As células progenitoras endoteliais (CPEs) desempenham um papel importante na manutenção da função endotelial. A síndrome metabólica (SM) está associada à disfunção das CPEs. Embora o exercício físico tenha um impacto benéfico na atividade das CPEs, seu mecanismo ainda não está completamente esclarecido. Objetivo O objetivo deste estudo é investigar os efeitos do exercício físico nas funções das CPEs e os mecanismos subjacentes em pacientes com SM. Métodos Os voluntários com SM foram divididos em grupo exercício (n=15) e grupo controle (n=15). Antes e após 8 semanas de treinamento físico, as CPEs foram isoladas do sangue periférico. Abstract Background Non‐small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) is a malignancy with the highest mortality rate. Currently, surgery combined with radiotherapy is the first choice in the clinical treatment of lung carcinoma (LC); however, long‐term radiotherapy leads to radiation resistance in patients, resulting in treatment failure. Methods In this study, a new microRNA‐218‐5p (miRNA‐218‐5p) was identified, and its function in LC was investigated. Results Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT‐qPCR) results revealed that miRNA‐218‐5p was downregulated in LC. Overexpression or inhibition of miRNA‐218‐5p in LC and targeted binding of protein kinase, DNA‐activated, catalytic polypeptide (PRKDC) to miRNA‐218‐5p were confirmed by comprehensive bioinformatic analysis. Exosomes from A549 and H1299 cells were cocultured with miRNA‐218‐5p and then cotransfected into radiation‐resistant A549R and H1299R cells; the proliferation of radiation‐resistant LC cells was found to be effectively inhibited and apoptosis was induced. Overexpression of miRNA‐218‐5p and X‐irradiation could enhance the radiosensitivity of LC cells. Exogenous miRNA‐218‐5p derived from A549 and H1299 cells could be transfected into radiation‐resistant LC cells and could inhibit PRKDC expression, thus accelerating DNA damage, apoptosis, and radiation sensitization of LC cells. Conclusions miRNA‐218‐5p could induce apoptosis and enhance the radiosensitivity of LC cells through regulatory activities, thus suggesting its application as a potential target for LC treatment.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 8 (USP8), a member of the ubiquitin-specific protease (USP) family, was originally identified as playing a role in the regulation of growth and cell cycle. However, its functional role in myogenesis is unknown. In this study, we investigated the role of USP8 in proliferation and differentiation of sheep skeletal muscle satellite cells. The results showed that the expression level of USP8 was significantly increased on days 2 and 3 following the induction of the differentiation process. Furthermore, knocking down USP8 resulted in a significant increase in myogenin-positive cells, and promoted early differentiation of satellite cells by regulating the expression level of paired box 7 (PAX7). Additionally, knocking down USP8 suppressed muscle satellite cell proliferation, possibly explaining that the relative mRNA level of USP8 was linearly related to muscle fibre density of Hu sheep. Overall, our research demonstrates that USP8 plays a role in proliferation and early differentiation of skeletal muscle satellite cells.

Communication between maternal uterus and blastocyst occurs in the early stages of pregnancy, and the interaction influences the success of embryo implantation. Whereas small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) play an essential role in mediating intercellular communication in numerous biological processes, their role in embryo implantation during the window of implantation (WOI) remains poorly defined. Here, we report that endometrial epithelial cells (EECs) secrete sEVs during early pregnancy, which affects the trophoblast behaviors (migration, invasion, and proliferation), thus influencing embryo implantation. We show that microRNA (miR)-100-5p, sEVs containing microRNA (miRNA), activates both focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), as well as contributes to trophoblast migration and invasion. Furthermore, our findings indicate that the sEV miR-100-5p promotes angiogenesis during the implantation process. In conclusion, this study reveals a novel mechanism by which EEC-derived sEV miR-100-5p crosstalks with trophoblasts, leading to an enhanced ability for implantation.

Abstract Background The establishment of uterine receptivity is essential for embryo implantation initiation and involves a significant morphological transformation in the endometrial epithelial cells (EECs). The remodeling of junctional complexes and membrane-associated cytoskeleton is crucial for epithelial transformation. However, little is known about how this process is regulated in EECs during the receptive phase. ARHGAP19 is a Rho GTPase-activating protein that participates in various cytoskeletal-related events, including epithelial morphogenesis. Here, we investigated the role of ARHGAP19 in endometrial epithelial transformation during the establishment of uterine receptivity. The upstream regulator of ARHGAP19 was also investigated. Methods ARHGAP19 expression was examined in mouse uteri during early pregnancy and in human EEC lines. The role of ARHGAP19 was investigated by manipulating its expression in EECs. The effect of ARHGAP19 on junctional proteins in EECs was examined by western blotting and immunofluorescence. The effect of ARHGAP19 on microvilli was examined by scanning electron microscopy. The upstream microRNA (miRNA) was predicted using online databases and validated by the dual-luciferase assay. The in vivo and in vitro effect of miRNA on endogenous ARHGAP19 was examined by uterine injection of miRNA agomirs and transfection of miRNA mimics or inhibitors. Results ARHGAP19 was upregulated in the receptive mouse uteri and human EECs. Overexpression of ARHGAP19 in non-receptive EECs downregulated the expression of junctional proteins and resulted in their redistribution. Meanwhile, upregulating ARHGAP19 reorganized the cytoskeletal structure of EECs, leading to a decline of microvilli and changes in cell configuration. These changes weakened epithelial cell polarity and promoted the transition of non-receptive EECs to a receptive phenotype. Besides, miR-192-5p, a miRNA that plays a key role in maintaining epithelial properties, was validated as an upstream regulator of ARHGAP19. Conclusion These results suggested that ARHGAP19 may contribute to the transition of EECs from a non-receptive to a receptive state by regulating the remodeling of junctional proteins and membrane-associated cytoskeleton.

The bottom hole fluctuating pressure has a large influence on the wellbore instability. To address this problem, firstly, according to the principle of seepage mechanics, we established a calculation model of the change in pore pressure around the wellbore radius under fluctuating pressure; then, through laboratory rock mechanics test and rock damage mechanics theory analysis, the change law of formation strength under the action of static hydration and dynamic damage are determined; finally, based on the theory of rock mechanics in porous media, a quantitative evaluation method for the risk of wellbore instability under fluctuating pressure is established and the changing pattern of wellbore instability risk is analyzed. The results show that the pore pressure around the well shows a trend of fluctuation increase under fluctuating pressure, and there is a certain lag in the fluctuation of pore pressure inside the formation; the longer the muddy shale is immersed in drilling fluid, the greater the reduction in strength; the reduction is greater in the early stage of immersion, and the reduction in strength in water-based drilling fluid is greater than that in oil-based drilling fluid. At the beginning of the pressure cycle, the formation damage variable and compressive strength gradually increase and decrease with the increase of the pressure cycle number; after several cycles, the magnitude of change gradually decreases with the increase of the cycle number. When the bottom hole pressure fluctuates at a certain period, the greater the fluctuation, the shorter the period of wellbore stability; when the bottom hole pressure fluctuates at a certain range, the smaller the fluctuation period, the faster the borehole enters the high-risk period, while the shortest period of wellbore stability occurs when the fluctuation period is smallest; and when the wave cycle is in the middle, the wellbore stability period is the longest.

The placenta plays a crucial role in mammalian fetal growth. The most important cell type in the placenta is the trophoblast cell. Many genes have been reported to play important functions in the differentiation of early placental trophoblast cells. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) is a systematic biological method for describing the correlation patterns among genes across microarray samples. We used WGCNA to screen placental trophoblast development-related genes, and through experimental confirmation, we showed that, among these genes, ELAC2 may play an important regulatory role in the early development of mammalian placental formation. ELAC2 regulates early placental trophoblast differentiation by affecting cell migration and cell proliferation. In addition, ELAC2 may be involved in regulating cell migration processes in a manner that affects epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Summary: Microbiota-host interaction plays an important role in cancer predisposing, initiation, progression, and response to therapy. Here, we explored the composition of lung tissue microbiota in 143 Chinese patients through conducting 16S rRNA gene sequencing, while TP53 mutation in tumor cells was assessed simultaneously. We found PAH-degrading microbes were more abundant in lung tumor microbiota from smokers. Furthermore, TP53 mutation was more prevalent in smokers, and TP53-mutated tumor harbored more Massilia, as well as Acidovorax that was also capable of degrading PAH. Further analysis showed DNA recombination and repair pathway was enriched in microbiota of smokers, which was convergent to the alteration occurred in tumor cells. Meanwhile, the microbiota of TP53-mutated tumor also exhibited dysregulation of p53 signaling pathway. Our results provided insights into the association of lung commensal microbes with tobacco exposure and host gene mutation, suggesting microbiota and tumor cells might undergo convergent alteration and mutually benefit each other.

Abstract Background Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is an effective method to identify subtle changes to normal-appearing white matter (WM). Here we analyzed the DTI data with other examinations, including motor evoked potentials (MEPs), histopathological images, and behavioral results, to reflect the lesion development in different degrees of spinal cord injury (SCI) in acute and subacute stages. Method Except for 2 Sprague -Dawley rats which died from the anesthesia accident, the rest 42 female rats were randomized into 3 groups: control group (n = 6), moderate group (n = 18), and severe group (n = 18). Moderate (a 50-g aneurysm clip with 0.4-mm thickness spacer) or severe (a 50-g aneurysm clip with no spacer) contusion SCI at T8 vertebrae was induced. Then the electrophysiological assessments via MEPs, behavioral deterioration via the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnaha (BBB) scores, DTI data, and histopathology examination were analyzed. Results In this study, we found that the damage of WM myelin, MEPs amplitude, BBB scores and the decreases in the values of fractional anisotropy (FA) and axial diffusivity (AD) were more obvious in the severe injury group than those of the moderate group. Additionally, the FA and AD values could identify the extent of SCI in subacute and early acute SCI respectively, which was reflected in a robust correlations with MEPs and BBB scores. While the values of radial diffusivity (RD) showed no significant changes. Conclusions Our data confirmed that DTI was a valuable in ex vivo imaging tool to identify damaged white matter tracts after graded SCI in rat, which may provide useful information for the early identification of the severity of SCI.

This paper is an evaluation of seasonal influenza vaccination hesitancy (IVH) and its determinants among community HCWs in Chongqing, a city in southwest China. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 1030 community HCWs with direct or indirect patient contact was conducted from July to September 2021 using a self-administered electronic questionnaire. Possible factors for IVH among community HCWs were investigated by multivariable logistic regression to yield adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Overall, 46.2% of community HCWs were vaccinated in the 2020–2021 season, while 65.8% of community HCWs had IVH. “Don’t know the coverage in China” (OR: 1.46, 95% CI: 1.01–2.11; 40-year-old group OR: 3.02, 95% CI: 1.92–4.76), “complacency” (OR: 4.55, 95% CI: 3.14–6.60) were positively related with having IVH. The community HCWs that had a history of influenza vaccination (OR: 0.67 95% CI: 0.48–0.95) and groups with confidence and convenience (OR: 0.08, 95% CI: 0.06–0.12; OR: 0.34, 95% CI: 0.23–0.52, respectively) were more likely to completely accept vaccination. Conclusions: Measures such as improving the awareness and knowledge of influenza and vaccination and expanding the free vaccination policy, combined with improving the convenience of the vaccination service, will promote increased seasonal influenza vaccination-coverage in community HCWs in Chongqing.

Affected by the end effect, the inductances of the slot-less tubular permanent magnet synchronous linear motor (TPMSLM) are unbalanced. This paper reports the research on the inductance unbalance and the thrust ripple characteristics for the slot-less TPMSLM, and it presents an optimization scheme adopting modular structure with a three-segment primary component. The inductance unbalance characteristic is obtained and quantitatively investigated based on the finite element models. The causes of the self-inductance unbalance and the mutual-inductance are explained, respectively, and the difference between the two unbalances are quantitate investigated. Then, the thrust ripple is specifically analyzed by establishing the voltage and thrust models according to the laws of the inductance unbalance. Thus, the theoretical connection between the inductance unbalance and the thrust ripple has been established. Moreover, the inductance and thrust ripple characteristics of the modular motor are discussed and compared with those of the conventional motor. The prototypes of the conventional motor and the modular motor are developed to verify the findings of the research. At last, corresponding conclusions obtained by the comparison of modular motor with conventional motor are drawn.

As an ideal current control method, the superiority of the predictive current control (PCC) is seriously weakened by the one-step control delay and parameter mismatch issues. To acquire the high dynamic and static characteristics, this paper studies an improved PCC scheme for the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) drives. First, the discrete-time model of PMLSM considering the parameter variation is established. Second, the formation mechanisms of these two issues are analyzed in detail, respectively. Meanwhile, through replanning the timing sequence logic, the one-step control delay issue is solved. Furthermore, based on the super-twisting algorithm, the super-twisting sliding-mode observer (STSMO) is constructed to compensate for the parameter disturbance. To further improve the dynamic property and lower the chattering, a third-order STSMO is presented in comparison with the second-order STSMO. In the meantime, the estimated currents can be utilized in the solution of one-step delay issue. At last, on the PMLSM testing platform based on the aerostatic guide, the corresponding experimental results are shown to verify the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed method.

In this paper, a novel velocity and current double closed-loop control scheme applied to the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) drives is proposed, and to suppress various uncertainties and disturbances, the advanced observation technique is introduced. First, as the inner loop, the current loop adopts the predictive current control method, which can increase the current control bandwidth and tracking precision. To improve the dynamic response and robustness of the velocity loop, a super-twisting sliding-mode control strategy is presented. Second, to overcome the parameter mismatch issue in the current loop and suppress different force disturbances in the velocity loop, their respective super-twisting sliding-mode observers are structured, and the corresponding estimated values are injected into the double closed loops by the feedforward method. At last, based on the precise PMLSM testing platform, the experimental studies are carried out to prove the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed scheme.

The implications of the end effect for flux linkage and thrust ripple in a slot-less long-stator permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (LSPMLSM), are analyzed in this paper. Since it is affected by the end effect, the air-gap magnetic field density under the end permanent magnet is different from that under the non-end permanent magnet, leading to asymmetry in the thrust ripple. For this reason, we establish a dynamic permanent magnet flux linkage model, which proves that the end effect leads to sub-harmonics in the permanent magnet flux linkage. The motor’s magnetic field distribution in the left and right parts is symmetrical. A thrust model taking into account the flux linkage sub-harmonics is established, from which the amplitude and period of the thrust ripple caused by the end effect can be calculated. There is no detent force for the slot-less LSPMLSM, and the end effect is the primary origin of the motor thrust ripple. In order to suppress the end effect, a method of increasing the end iron length is proposed, as a result of which the sub-harmonics in the flux linkage and the motor thrust ripple are effectively suppressed. Experimental and simulation results verify the results of this paper.

The charging time of Li-ion batteries connected in series (LBCSs) power supply is the main concern in an electromagnetic propulsion system. However, the capacity loss of a Li-ion battery is inevitable due to the repetitive operation of LBCSs power supply, which leads to the decrease in the average current. Thus, the voltages of symmetrically distributed pulse capacitors of LBCSs power supply will not reach the setting value in the specified time. This paper proposes a novel closed-loop control method to solve the problem. By collecting the pulse capacitor voltage and the circuit current, the time sequences of Li-ion batteries are recalculated in real time in a closed-loop to increase the average current. The time-domain model of the circuit topology of the LBCSs power supply and an innovative closed-loop control method based on the time sequences recalculation algorithm are described first. Then, the circuit model is built in PSIM for simulation analyses. Finally, a series of experiments are conducted to confirm the effectiveness of the method on the megawatt LBCSs power supply platform. Both the simulation and experimental results validate that the proposed method not only shortens the charging time, but also increases the average current. In practical experiments, the charging time is shortened by 4.5% and the average current is increased by 4.8% using the proposed method at the capacity loss of 50 V.

Deep and even ultra-deep petroleum resources play a gradually increasing and important role with the worldwide continuous advancement of oil and gas exploration and development. In China, the deep carbonate reservoirs in the Tarim Basin are regarded as the key development areas due to their huge reserves. However, due to the unreasonable design of production pressure differential, some production wells suffered from severe borehole collapse and tubing blockage. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to optimize a more practical method for predicting the critical production pressure differential. The commonly used analytical methods with different failure criteria for predicting production pressure differential were summarized. Furthermore, their advantages and disadvantages were analyzed. A new numerical model is established based on the finite element theory in order to make the prediction of production pressure differential more accurate. Additionally, both analytical and numerical methods were applied to evaluating the production pressure differential of deep carbonate reservoirs in the Tarim Basin, and the results were discussed compared with field data. In addition, a series of laboratory tests, including porosity and permeability measurements, electron microscope scanning, XRD for mineral analysis, uniaxial and triaxial compressive strength test, etc., were carried out by using the collected carbonate cores from formations deeper than 7000 m to obtain the input parameters of the simulation such as the rock properties. The experimental results showed that the carbonate rocks exhibited a remarkable brittleness and post-peak strain softening. The calculation results revealed that the Mogi-Coulomb criterion is slightly conservative; however, it is more suitable than other criteria to evaluate pressure differential. Furthermore, it has been confirmed by the field data that the finite element numerical method can not only reveal the instability mechanism of the wellbore but also predict the critical production pressure differential accurately. Unfortunately, the on-site operators sometimes require a more convenient way, such as an analytical method, to figure out the pressure differential, even though the evaluation of the numerical method is more accurate. Therefore, the discussion in this paper can provide a basis for the operators to determine the production pressure differential flexibly.

Abstract Background Vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs) are the major receptors involved in endothelial cell-dependent tumor angiogenesis. There are studies account for the effects of Hsp90 on angiogenesis, but the role and mechanism of Hsp90β isoforms and NVP-BEP800, a specific inhibitor of Hsp90β, in tumor angiogenesis is rarely mentioned. Methods Immunohistochemistry and statistical analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between Hsp90β expression, CD31 endothelial cell-dependent vessel density, and VEGFRs expression in tissue samples of 96 HCCs. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and COX proportional hazards analysis the relation of Hsp90β and prognosis. HUVEC cells were transfected with Hsp90β or treated with NVP-BEP800, and then cell proliferation, migration, invasion and tube formation were investigated. The VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 expression was determined by Western blot and immunofluorescence. The VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 promoter activities were detected by dual luciferase report system. In vivo, the angiogenesis promotion of Hsp90β and anti-angiogenesis efficacy of NVP-BEP800 was tested in HCC xenograft models. Histological analysis was performed on tumor samples to evaluate Hsp90β, VEGFRs expression and MVD. Results This study investigated the correlation between Hsp90β expression and CD31+ endothelial cell-dependent vessel density. Hsp90β promoted VEGFRs expression by increasing their promoter activities. The proliferation, migration, invasion, and tube formation activities of human endothelial cells significantly increased when Hsp90β was overexpressed. NVP-BEP800 down-regulated VEGFRs expression to significantly reduce tubular differentiation, as well as endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Furthermore, NVP-BEP800 decreased VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 promoter activities. In vivo, Hsp90β promoted VEGFRs and CD31 expression in human hepatocellular carcinoma tumor xenografts and was associated with increased tumor microvessel density. After 18 days of treatment with 30 mg/kg/day NVP-BEP800, VEGFRs and CD31 expression significantly decreased. Conclusion Hsp90β induced endothelial cell-dependent tumor angiogenesis by activating VEGFRs transcription. NVP-BEP800 has potential as a therapeutic strategy for inhibiting tumor angiogenesis by decreasing endothelial cell progression and metastasis. It can help develop a therapeutic strategy for tumor treatment through the inhibition of endothelial cell progression and metastasis.

Background/Aims: Recurrent gene mutation has been identified by the analysis of exonic DNA from lung adenocarcinoma, but its progression has not been extensively profiled. The investigation of the mutational landscape of tumors provides new insights into cancer genome evolution and further discovers the interplay of somatic mutation, adaptation of clones to their environment and natural selection. Cancer development involves cycles of genomic damage, epigenetic deregulation, and increased cellular proliferation that eventually culminate in the carcinoma phenotype. Methods: Comparative whole exome sequencing of both primary and metastatic tumor tissues from four patients of stage IV lung adenocarcinoma patients with chest wall metastasis was performed. Both primary and metastatic tumors were diagnosed through biopsy followed by surgical resection. All tumor specimens were cut into several pieces to assess potential heterogenic clones within the tumor tissue. Adjacent normal lung tissue was also obtained to provide germline mutation background. Results: By modeling and analyzing progression of the cancer metastasis based on non-synonymous variants, we defined the extent of heterogeneity of cancer genomes and identified similar cancer evolution pattern in the four patients: metastasis was an early event occurring right after the primary cancer formation and evolution in the metastatic tumor was continuously and simultaneously in progression with that in the primary tumor. By characterizing the clonal hierarchy of genetic lesions, we further charted a pathway of oncogenic events along which genes may drive lung adenocarcinoma metastasis, such as TAS2R31 and UMODL1, involving in G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway. Conclusion: The candidate genes identified in this study may become targets for the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma metastasis.
